We looked to Hanson again for a siding quote, since having a great experience purchasing all new windows, 10 years ago after we bought our fixer-upper of a house. This time was for siding, gutters with guards, trim, and shutters. The windows are still perfect, no need to change those. We signed for the work in April. Our ability to be flexible with timing saved us a bunch on the bottom line and the work started July 23rd. The siding was supposed to take up to two weeks, however, they were done in a week. My husband was super happy and impressed with the family-crew contracted to do the job. Really nice guys, he said. I never saw them, as we didn't need to be home for them to do the work. It was great! They did all the tear out in one day, worked with us to get a new window in before they started siding that end of the house, and cleaned up after themselves (except for a few cigarette butts). They left their tools and supplies there, of course, and didn't work on the weekends, which I didn't mind, as we enjoyed a peaceful weekend. We have a large house and they were done in half the time - major props. After installation, we discovered the lighting plates were ill-sized to the base of our new exterior lights we purchased for the front, back and garage doors. It is $140 for the replacement sizes and for them to come back out and reinstall, but worth it for those little details that set off the look of our house. I can't believe the before and after pics. My neighbors are complimenting us when they walk by and see us outside. We have the corner lot at the head of the street, so having nice siding and curb appeal does wonders for the market value in the neighborhood. Estimator was a no show and then the call center gave me attitude when I called to ask why nobody showed up. Don't waste your time!

We decided to get rid of a tub that was not installed correctly and convert it to a walk in shower - I really wish we would've waited until I had the time to do it. The shower we ordered has two separate shower valves, the installer was saying there wasn't enough room, I had to tell him what fittings to use and where to cut the studs to install the back board. He appeared to understand half of it, as he just stood there still trying to figure out where to cut and put boards. This just kept going on and on. One person could've headed out to get the needed fittings and the other could have prepared the stud and backboard, but instead, he just kept going on and on and then told me they couldn't get it done in one day. Our house is small and that's our only shower. I ended up having to call the installation manager, Tom, and informed him about what was going on. Rightfully he backed his crew, he did not know my background of being residential and commercial builder, but these installers had no business doing installations and I was was ready to turn this over to our lawyer - sadly on day one! Tom called the installers, who said everything was fine, then agreed to stay until the job was done. I don't know what all Tom said to them, but finally, one went for the correct fittings and the other got to work prepping the area. These installers were extremely slow, disorganized, and in my opinion, completely incompetent. As for the panels they use for the shower walls, they are much the same as the pressed paper panels with a tile look on them that can be bought at any home improvement store, such as Home Depot, very low quality and definitely not worth the price we paid, but at least each wall will have a panel without a seam in it. The panels appear to be more of a vinyl backed with a dense foam or cloth like material, definitely better than pressed paper, but barely builders grade. The quality of materials and workmanship is not worth the time or money. I would recommend going to a tile and granite center, and if you don't have time, have them do your install, at least this way you will quality materials. I would recommend requiring a face-to-face interview with several installers and go look at their previous work and make sure it is up to your expectations of quality and workmanship, then you can pick the one that will do the best work for you. Hanson's used to be great. We had our roof done, there were a lot of issues that we were informed about and knew of ahead of time and they did things perfectly. We later added gutters with oversized downspouts, and the installer was arguing that we didn't get the larger downspouts, even after I showed him the signed agreement that clearly showed the larger size, he still wanted to put the smaller ones on, but did install the larger ones for us. Sadly, it appears that Hanson's has simply turned into a company that simply takes your money, promising top quality materials and workmanship, but instead delivers sub par materials and service. read more

Contracted for a new shower on 09/09/25 (for over $11k). Installers tore out old shower 10/16, then said it was measured wrong by salesman and had to have another one custom made. Hansons made another appointment for 11/09 to install the newly measured one, verified by email, text message and verbally on phone (while being without a shower for several weeks now). No call / no show on 11/09 now 3:00 p.m.. Still waiting, and still no shower. Extremely dissallusioned with Hansons. Hansons has emailed me requesting a review. Well... here it is! The shower looks nothing like I expected (supposed to look like tile - it does not) and the bumpers on shower doors were broken on installation. The fitter tried to get away with it but we said we wanted new ones and he called Hansons who said we'd get new bumpers asap. It's now July. We still have broken bumpers. Every time we use the shower something else falls off. They do not answer the phone for service calls. I've reported them to BBB. DO NOT do business with Hansons. Despite calling the 1-800-426-7667 number three times, the only response I received was from a young lady who informed me that she had no information on the status of the supply order needed to fix the problem -- supplies that could easily be purchased at any big box home improvement store. Horrid. We had our windows replaced by them about 4 years ago, and it's been literally nothing but problems ever since. The sheer level of incompetence displayed by the members of this company is absolutely staggering. I had to send them a 23-page document detailing all the issues after the initial install. It took them over a year to "fix" all the issues, and the fixes were only passable. We've had to have several windows replaced over the course of these 4 years, and they have quite literally never gotten it right on the first service appointment. Each and every time, they've come with the wrong size window, or claimed they didn't have the correct parts, or said that something was improperly ordered. They get an A+ for salesmanship. Their rep definitely sold on their product during our virtual measure appointment. At that point we established that our door-wall was custom in size and that's when the price soared. Fortunately financing is a breeze with same as cash for 12 months. Pray that your windows or door-walls are standard size. In addition to higher costs it seemed to take awhile for the door to be made. Once it was fabbed and they scheduled for the install we sat back and waited for our appointment. When the install crew showed up they looked a little too laid back. While the foreman got the details of the install site from me his employees laid on our front lawn waiting to begin working. I get it...but it also didn't convey the professionalism I had come to expect from our salesman. That makes no nevermind though. They installed the door-wall and the window in record time...about 90 minutes+. When they were clearing out the foreman mentioned that they'd be back to install the screen latch on the slider. Little did I know that my wife caught them trying to leave after cleaning up having not installed that latch. Being a $3500 custom door-wall, we expected it to be PERFECT. They said they'd be back to install the latch. That took about a month to happen. The service guy that came out yesterday for the latch install was given the wrong part and had to come back out in the evening on his way home to finish the job. My two cents...definitely shop around and don't let them bait you with an "if you sign tonight....otherwise..." pitch. We probably won't be using them again for windows but would likely use their quote to get a better price from a smaller company. All that aside, the door-wall is really nice compared to our previous from 1986, and the window is quality too. My only other major complaint was since they didn't come out for a thorough pre-install assessment they didn't notice that there was some structural water damage and bowing above where the new casement was installed. It looks a little shoddy. They wouldn't have been able to fix it themselves but we may have chosen to have it addressed prior to their installation. Food for thought. 3 stars read more

They did a terrible job on my siding. They left uneven window trim, rough edges, large gaps where I could see the wood underneath. The head crew member would call me "sweetie" also daily while one the job and was completely inappropriate. They fixed some problems after the job was done but Eight months later my siding is falling down in places, buckling with waves. I am so disappointed. It took 3 phone calls and 2 internet inquiries to even get an appointment to have them fix these issues and they never showed! 12k in the hole and I have to look at this issues everyday. I had the gutters installed after playing phone tag with the sales person and having to call THEM after not hearing from them for over a month, when I was told they would contact me two weeks from the purchase. I paid half up front but they wanted it all paid before they even came out. No chance sunshine. Anyway, in the year I've had these gutters, they have been out four times, for leaks and now I find the gutter guards I bought were never installed. I was looking to replace several home windows but the price was so high I just couldn't afford it. Getting the salesguys out of my house was Herculean -they would just not take no for an answer. Afterwards, the manager kept calling with better offers. After negotiating several times I agreed to replace a large doorwall and one window with Hansons. Mistake. After another visit to my home for measuring (the salesmen had already taken well over an hour verifying measurements and pressuring me to buy), and signing away my soul on lengthy digital documents, I waited two months to get a call from a scheduler; a very RUDE scheduler who seemed to be bothered that I wasn't at her beck and call to schedule the install. An additional $100 was added because of a permit that wasn't mentioned previously. The installer was nice; he did a good job - no complaints with that part of the process. The quality of the doorwall was less than I expected, but honestly, I just didn't want to deal with anyone at Hansons anymore. It's fine. The kicker: Hanson's managed the loan through a 3rd party, but never told me who that company was, when I'd get billed, or any detailed information. The only way I found out is when bill collectors started calling for unpaid invoices that I never received. The third party said Hanson's was supposed to initiate all of the logistics. Surprise. They didn't. I'll never deal with Hanson's again. They've affected my credit, my house, and my peace of mind. read more

We had issues with a sash that didn't fit our upstairs window, preventing us from locking the window. Took a week for a tech to come out. He said they needed to order a new sash, and that might take 6 weeks. It's been 2 months and my assigned service rep, Julie, refuses to return my emails. Calls to 1-800-Hansons are fielded by robots that redirect your calls to reps that never answer. The promised lifetime warranty would seem great, but good luck getting a hold of anyone! I had new windows installed in January 2019. It took 4 full days to put in 8 new windows. I knew then that I had made a poor choice. In late summer, I realized that some of the windows could slide back and forth in the frame when locked. Also, the large stationary center picture window could slide in the tracks completely to either side. I called for service in early Sept. An inspector came in late October. I called after the replacement windows in Dec. They had not been ordered. A second inspector was sent out. The factory called me directly, at one point. It has been dozens of calls and now it is June 23, 2020 without windows. I have even driven to the offices here in Ypsilanti in person. When I pointed out that my service request had been made over 9 months ago, they pulled "covid". I replied that the first 5 months I'd waited were covid -free. No one in service answers the phone or replies to emails. Their warranty is useless. I was grateful that I didn't have a shattered window or some such because I would have had a boarded up window for nearly a year. Hansons within the first 2-years had to come out to fix (replace) and replace shingles that just blew off the roof. Additionally, they had to repair the drip edge as the installers cut the shingles right against that house. Starting in 2015, nails began popping up from shingles. Hanson's service has come out numerous times in 2017 & 2018 for leak over master bedroom. Technician walks around on roof, tapping down popped nails, squirting caulk here and there, then say you're all fixed. In 2019 problems continue. Nails popping up and leak still over master bedroom. In May 2019, Called customer service and requested service appointment. Service repair man came and looked at master bedroom ceiling, takes picture and states he'll have to order roofing material. 2-weeks later we still wait. called service desk AFTER putting in another website service request. Contacted customer service asking what ever happened to Appointment to repair mid June (2019). Technician a no show. Called customer service again asking about no show. Customer service says they're So Busy putting roofs that they have no extra people to make service calls. Customer service rep then sets a July 2019 appointment. Technician no show for that appointment too. July 2019, Called again to customer service. Now the Next appointment now August 14. Technician a no show. Called customer service again. New appointment August 30. Once again, technician a no show. I submit a another website service request and call customer service about problem. 2-weeks later, still no service and no callback. If you're considering this company - DON'T!!! No matter how great the price. They do not stand behind their products service. They are great at giving you lip service about how great they are and when they can do to correct the problems. They just don't follow through with actions. Always just more excuses. This was perhaps the worst service I have ever received by a company, little in writing except how to protect Hansons. Took 2 months for them to get a contractor at my house with a leaking roof (however the subcontractor was excellent). Timeline for install start date on their contract does not start when you sign the contract (so don't believe 8-12 weeks). They stalled several times, "one more thing to sign", twice. One person doesn't know what the other is doing. Several phone calls gave me different answers each time. Will never use nor recommend Hansons, in fact neighbor called during my install and I told them no way, gave them my second choice that I've been kicking myself for not going with. BUYER BEWARE I wanted to share my thoughts on this company, as I experienced their sales tactics and disappointing end result upon my relocation to Detroit in Aug 2018. I'm writing this review to help homeowners who are about to embark on a large home expense to avoid doing business with the very PUSHY company who will make promises that they in no way can keep (even if you sign a contract). I purchased a home that needed a LOT of TLC and the roof was one of the very first things I needed to get replaced. It was old, leaking and causing damage to my interior, and my insurer at the time told me that without a new roof within 90 days, they could not insure it. So, the hunt for the best company for the job ensued in the second week of Aug. I contacted all of the local companies that seemed reputable, and within 1 week interviewed 8 different men who all told me they would do the best job. Hanson's, however, ASSURED me that they were the best and when I was veering in another direction with whom to hire, they sent several different sales people back in person / over phone to help sway me to back to them. I was hesitant to hire them due to their aggressive nature, but ultimately they gave me the best price with which nobody else could compete, so I signed on the dotted line with the nice man who cut me multiple discounts and shared in my enthusiasm for the new roof. I put my trust in Hanson's. By the second week of Sept. I thought everything seemed to be on schedule after I hung up the phone with the Hanson's coordinator who told me my supply materials had been ordered. I was in Chicago on business when I missed a call just a day after this from one of their managers, Leo. He left me a voicemail and to my dismay informed me that he was terribly sorry but due to the salesman "under-quoting my roof", Hanson's would not be able to do the job. He basically said the contract was going to be cancelled and they weren't doing it, and then said goodbye. That's it. First- I find it VERY unprofessional that this sort of information would be left on a voicemail and that it was not a conversation mandated for actual human contact. This is heavy news when you think you are getting a new roof in a couple of weeks! Second, this company took up SO MUCH of my time sending salesperson after salesperson after me to seal the deal- so I was perplexed as to why they were just going to drop me with no offer of any other pricing or any sort of reconciliation or options to move forward. Everyone's time had been just wasted- and with a leaking roof in the rainy fall- THIS was not okay. Third, was this even legal? I was under a signed contract with these people so as you can imagine, my head was spinning. I proceeded to play phone tag with Leo for the next day or so and when we finally connected, I gave him a piece of my mind. He apologized profusely and told me that " The cost they quoted just wasn't enough money to do the job." He said it 'wasn't worth it". He then said he hated to have these conversations, it made him "lose sleep at night." This led me to believe that he had this conversation often... and $11,000 was quite a bit of money for me, by the way! I felt totally irrelevant and duped. After a few more conversations with Leo, he told me that they would do the project and fulfill their contractual promises upon discussing my situation with their owner. These conversations took place on Sept 14th and I once again, after sorting this all out, put my trust in Hanson's to get the job done. I sent them pictures of my interior water damage from the rain that was seeping down through my battered old roof and asked politely that they come ASAP to do the job. They kept assuring me that they were coming soon, next week, just a matter of days...it was Oct 26th and I still had no roof. I realized (and probably much too late) that trusting this company to do a good job or to even do the job at all was a joke. I called Leo at the very end of Oct and told him I wanted out of the contract. He obliged, but only after telling me, once again, that in just a few days they were slated to do the job. No thank you, I said. I immediately called the other company I was initially going to hire, American Standard, and they were at my house the very next week. I got my roof by early Dec (only because it took that long to get a few consecutive sunny days above freezing) and I couldn't be happier with the service I received from them. Needed windows replaced on a small home I recently purchased. Had a great experience with this company from the salesperson to the project manager answering the phone. Had one small snafu with a caulking leak on one of the windows, which took longer to get re-caulked than I would have expected. I would love to review the actual windows that I'm supposed to be buying however they keep pushing back the delivery and installation, with very little communication. I was clear when I got the quote that it was time sensitive to get these windows installed because I have to move. I went with Hanson's, even though they were much more expensive because they told me the windows could be installed in May as opposed to July as other companies stated. May arrived and no windows, mid May, then communication that it would be in June. Then it would be middle of June. Then it was the week of June 18, or maybe the next. It is now the end of June and I still have no date of when the windows will be available to be installed. I have made phone calls asking for updates and basically get told someone will call me back. That doesn't ever happen. I had first thought this was due to Covid and everything being backed up, but after reading the reviews on here, it seems that this is the normal operating procedure. Promise one thing, don't follow up, don't follow through. Hopefully I will be able to update with glowing reports of how the installation goes but I'm not confident. If I could I would give it a negative Stars. They way overcharged us on the roof, said the shingles were made just for them and had a light metal backing with a lifetime warranty. The shingles were atlas shingles that I could have gotten at menards for 35.00. Yes, they lied all around. Said that their employees would be installing our roof and that they were trained to install the roof as per manufacturer instructions. They sent out contractors that could not converse with us. The contractors took materials from our job to another job they were installing down the road (not a hansons job). They damaged my car when they were throwing the old roof down. I have pictures. The work was shoddy, they didn't put a cricket up by the fireplace or any of the 10 attic air ducts in. They bent my seamless gutters and now they are destroyed and the drip edge is not long enough. They tore down a landline telephone line and never said anything. Then the day they left, they never said they were done or anything they threw out 1/4 of the materials that we paid for. This after taking 1/4 of our materials to another job. They were also supposed to fix a joint in the roof by the fireplace all they did was put a 2x4 piece of wood up that goes maybe 1 foot. Jason said that they would eat the cost of fixing it after he originally told us it was going to be another $5,000. The cleanup must have been done by a blind man, just myself after the guy was picking up nails I had a bag full of nails from my driveway and around my house. Finally after numerous calls to have the issues fixed, I ended up calling our finance company and told then under no circumstances is hansons to be paid they have not finished the job. It was when the finance company refused to pay them that hansons did come out, one time the installer fixed the cricket and installed 6 of the air vents. He said that the contractors messed up and bent all of the gutters. He said that he would go back and let Jason the head project manager know. After 2-3 weeks later the finance company called to see if they could pay them as hansons is saying that the job is complete. We explained to them what was going on and we received another call. This has been going on for almost 3 months now, the aggravation is beyond ridiculous, no communication and just frustrated by the whole thing. We called to settle the payment but after of all this we should not have to pay almost $20,000 for a roof that wasn't installed correctly and for how we were treated by hansons. Then they said we owed over the estimated price and we never signed off on that nor agreed to it. We never received our permit for the job. We have no problem paying but it will not be that amount it shouldn't have cost $10,000 for the work, materials and aggravations of dealing with this, the service department, the scheduling department, and everyone we have talked to there has been nothing but nasty, rude and blaming us. read more

I bought my windows a number of years ago and need some warranty work on them. I followed the rules and used the website to report the issue. Took 9 days to get a response even though the site states 24 hrs. Mind you, I also called in multiple time too and would spend a minimum of 30 min on hold. 2 weeks later the repair man comes out and fixes one issue and let's me know it will take three weeks to get the other part in. I waited 5 weeks to call them back, waited on hold. Was told a service manger would call me, waited 2 more days no call so I called back Talked to a scheduler and did get my repair scheduled for a part they had on hand and wanted to have a conversation with a manger and it has now been over a week and no call as of yet. This is not a vivid issue as they try to put as this is horrible customer service. Think hard before using them. They are only out for the quick buck. We had an inspection done on our home before we bought it. The inspector said we should prepare to replace the roof within 3-5 years. We had no leaks but the roof was old, so we decided to shop. We decided to go with Hanson's based on their 100% lifetime no leak guarantee. We replaced the roof which was thousands higher than other quotes. We now have 2 leaks in our living room. I submitted a request reporting these and a rep contacted me with 2 days saying an installer would be by. I requested that we be notified when they would be showing up , we were fortunate that we caught the worker outside with his child looking at the roof. He said the roof needed flashing put up and reported this to his manager and they would be in touch with scheduling the repair. Sounds good so far... NOPE! Now I cannot get a phone call or anyone to respond to my chain of emails. I have had the worse customer service experience ever with this company. What will it take to get something done ? I couldn't be happier. I have a 120 year old home in a prestigious neighborhood. I was unable to install replacement windows in wood because all of the architectural trim work around the original windows would have to be torn out. I turned to Hansons to see what my options were and they had very high end looking insert options in custom colors that matched the trim of the home perfectly. Even the cherry stained walnut dining room windows matched our wainscoting perfectly. The windows look fantastic... you can't tell they are vinyl at all from the street. The installers were amazing. The head installer took the time to look at other trim designs on houses in our neighborhood and determined that he would cut down the trim into thinner strips to get the same look as the historic look. They were timely, conscientious and left the house and exterior clean as they had found it. They were friendly and proud of their work. As a person who is doing many major home renovations I was unexpectedly pleasantly surprised by what a great experience we had with Hansons and our install crew!! read more

We had Daniel come to our house , he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. I was lost at first , I didn't know anything about the process. He explained everything in details, he made me aware of what I should be looking for with other competitors. He recommended the rubberized shingles vs the asphalt. Other companies recommend the asphalt because they have better deals through some manufacturers. When I asked them about the rubberized they said they have it but they will charge more. Unfortunately I had to hold off on this project because of financial reasons. But I'll surely choose hanson once I'm ready again. read more
