Ugh I was so disappointed, never thought you could get shrimp and grits wrong. The grits were unseasoned, not even a bit of salt. It was like a bunch of unseasoned cheese with unseasoned grits under, no marination of flavors within any of it... oh and the shrimp tasted more like overly salty shrimp versus Cajun flavored, there was more of a salt taste, not Cajun seasoning. Was in the area and wanted breakfast so we decided to come here. We were greeted upon entry and told to find a seat anywhere. The restaurant wasn't packed so that was fairly easy. The service was pretty quick for ordering and bringing the food. I ordered the chicken wings and waffle with a fried egg and my bf ordered hot chicken with eggs and a sausage breakfast Taco. The Taco was by far the best thing we ordered. My chicken wings smelled funny and tasted as if they were fried in old grease. The hot chicken was ok but had a lot or breading on it. I ate here with my family on Mother's Day. It's not a very big restaurant, but they were able to accommodate out party of 9. We did have two people seated in a separate table next to the main party, though. Almost everyone was happy with their food, and the one exception was a particularly difficult relative who usually has a complaint. Every family has one. Anyway. The food came out in a timely manner and service was good. I only took pictures of my plate and my daughter's plate. I had the banana and pecan Belgian waffle. It was served with warm syrup. I ordered it with a side of bacon and also Nutella to add to the waffle. It was a heavenly mess. The waffle was warm and fluffy and cooked just right. I tried a biscuit from someone else's plate and they were fluffy and good, too. My daughter had the kids waffle plate and it came with half a waffle, eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage. She was happy. She ate it with some of my whip cream and strawberry jam from the packets available on the table. I'll give them a four star because all in all the food was pretty good. I had the southwest skillet and it was more than enough food for me. Husband had the omelette with all the ingredients he wanted. He said it was delish!! My only complaint would be the building and the way the servers are dressed. They had jeans with holes and you could not tell if they were customers or servers. The big clue was the apron. Oh and one waitress was yelling across the whole restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and usually this is a big clue for me how they keep their kitchen. It could be that we go back or maybe not. My fiancé really enjoys this restaurant, but our latest trip was lackluster at best. We arrived an hour before closing. Most of the staff seemed like they were cleaning mode because it was nearing the end of the day. We sat down, a lady took our drink order, and then we didn't see anyone for awhile. No menus were given, so we were just kind of left with nothing to do. My fiancé finally got up and got menus from the front. The staff then noticed that something was off and quickly came to apologize about the lack of menus. Okay, no biggie. We order and food comes out pretty quickly. We go to eat and realize we have no silverware. We look around and staff is busy cleaning again. We tell the kids to grab silverware from other tables. At this point, we're pretty much self serving ourselves. Drinks were never refilled. As for food: Eggs Benedict- 3/5 Ehh, it was just okay. The sauce tasted like the kind you make from those McCormick packets. The poached egg was cooked well. Waffles- 5/5 Their Belgium style waffles are pretty tasty and fresh tasting. Me and my family wanted to order due to a referral but was shocked when trying to order over the phone. The customer service is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE over the phone. Manager and employee were extremely rude and kept stating they had other customers (as if we were not customers also or as important) who are ordering. Employee talked to us whenever we were first speaking with the supposed manager. When we were expressing why we were having problems ordering with the manager, she spoke as if she was in the conversation the whole time and kept cutting us off when questions were asked. Needed a place for breakfast near the airport on a hurricane-soaked Saturday morning, so I asked yelp for help... And here I am. This was my 2nd time visiting Hanz Diner and I can see it becoming a regular spot for me. I arrived at the end of the breakfast rush slightly after 1030 AM. It was still really busy but many people were finishing up and getting their checks. I chose a seat on the kitchen entrance side of the dining area, and after about a minute my drink order was taken (by a young lady who appears to mainly cover that task during busy times?). My server then greeted me and took my order. I decided on pork chops and pancakes but couldn't decide if I wanted grilled or deep fried so they gave me an option of both (one of each). I also added 2 scrabbled eggs to my meal. Breakfast just isn't breakfast without eggs to me. My food arrived promptly, hot and well presented. The pancakes were HUGE. The pork chops were so scrumptious. The eggs were good, too; not over or under cooked. I was very pleased with my meal; it was an excellent choice. I ended up really enjoying this visit. I'm not sure what happened to the QUALITY OF FOOD. I keep coming back in hope that the food would turn out the way it was when it originally opened. It seems like it started going downhill when they were staying open till the evening. The service has been a hit or miss. The past few visits I've been in with family I've had to have my food remade because either the food was over cooked or under cooked. This time my fries were undercooked and didn't receive them until I complained that I was almost done with my meal. Another waitress came to the table saying that they were busy and has other customers to serve and they would be coming as soon as they can. I then spoke with the manager, Arely Anderson, because I couldn't understand why I would have to wait for others to be served before I can receive food that should have been served WITH my meal! I have to say I was very disappointed in how she handled the situation. I was told she would take off the cost of the fries only if I didn't get the fries! Apparently she said "they" told her I complain every time I come in, which is partially true because MY MEAL WAS NOT PROPERLY COOKED! BUT I have NEVER asked for a refund or discount on ANYTHING...until today. I used to come in 1-2 times a week in the past, but started stretching out months at a time because of the inconsistency of food and service. I will not be returning here nor recommending them to anyone again. I didn't even get one apology on the wait or mishap! Having a good manager who knows how to handle a situation properly makes a huge difference so I felt the need to explain to her how inappropriate she was, but still leaving a tip for the waitress. She then had the audacity to tell me it didn't matter to her what I left the waitress and that she prays to God that I never come their again! WOW!!! No worries there because I also noticed upon leaving that the cook DIDNT EVEN WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE COOKING/PREPARING MEALS at a time like this pandemic! Yelps HEALTH SCORE shows having a 56 out of 100...which sounds about right! SO DISAPPOINTED because it used to be one of my favorite restaurants!! read more

It was delicious, but I could not finish it because it was a lot of food. I might give one slice of turkey and a biscuit to some random guy on the street, I didn't even touch that, lol. I have been coming to Hanz for years. Today was by far the worse service I've ever experienced. The waiter was very nervous which ofcourse I get it it's his first day, he walked away for 10mins assumed he's putting in the order. Another waiter walked up to take our order again. They finally come out with the food and hot syrup is waste on my fiancé, the food is greasy and taste as if the grease has been sitting for days. I couldn't even eat it all.
