I've been working lots by the airport area, so when heading home, I stop to have a late lunch at Luby's. A previous time, I had a wonderful baked potato. It was done just right. As I went through the line with my tray, I see two baked potatoes. Yummy. I wanted one. But they already had bacon. There were none vegetarian. The red potatoes were too greasy. See my picture. The iced tea is now Community. The previous brand might have been Tetley. I used to think Luby's had some of the best iced tea in Houston. No more! The Community iced tea is not good. Sergio the waiter has always been attentive and has a great attitude. I will continue to go to the cafeteria because of the wide array of veggie items; however, I wish they'd bring back the former brand of tea. read more

Drive thru only. Don't. Do. It. Only had one good experience here but I kept going back. Today was the last. I want to support them bc of nostalgia but I totally get why they are closing so many stores down. Ordered an adult meal and a children's meal. The children's meal came with a drink. Root beer. Even had a back and forth with the young lady taking the order bc she was chatting and laughing with someone else. Asked for gravy on the side. Get to the window and there is a guy there now. Opens the window and is speaking Spanish to another lady the whole time he is serving me. Takes the card, hands it back with receipt. Then hands me the bag, closes the window and walks away. I try to get his attention by yelling and thinking but he's already done. No drink. I could have made a hassle but I was already over it. Get home and there is no gravy for either orders of mashed potatoes either. The past few times the service has been meh. There is a lot of side chatter happening so no one is focused on me, you know the customer. It's always little things - wrong side, no tar tar sauce, no roll, wrong drink... And why do they never have baked white fish. Take it off the menu. No matter what time or day of the week, they always "ran out". Girl please. Anyways. Guess I'll be heading back to Cleburnes. I have always been a fan of lubys and was sad to hear they may be closing for good. With that being said now is the time to support them and get your cravings in! Food: I have been getting their fried square fish with Mac and cheese and one pickle for the the past 31 years or more lol. This has been my go to fish for years. For some reason that square fried haddock piece of fish is simply amazing! Breaded and fried to perfection. Always very tasty and quite filling. The Mac N cheese is another great dish. Also the yams are very good as well. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at lubys. Great cafeteria food. Also their homemade desserts are amazing too! Luby's is comfort food, but also a fresher, healthier "fast food," at a great value. The service at this location is better than most. I stop by about 3 times a week on my way from work. Management is helpful and polite and this extends to most (not all) employees. The only drawbacks: some of the fellow clientele / could use some updating. Perhaps it's due to the area, but invariably you see the disgruntled types trying to get food for free. We all know them. The location could use a "facelift" and freshening. Most Luby's have gone down in this regard. Still the food and service is great and I hope this Texas institution stays around for a long time. read more

I love Luby's for southern, home style meals. I generally receive excellent customer service and great food. Today I hope was a fluke. I ordered a premium,grilled chicken salad and a fish combo plate. The food I received today was mediocre and the service was horrible. The server had to go back and forth from my car to the serving line over 6 times in addition to me placing my order and paying for the meal. It was like the person working the window and the person who took my order did not communicate. I am so happy I am a detailed person and I did not move from the drive through window til they got everything right. I got my cheesecake and it was great! I am not giving up on Luby's. This Lubys has really gone down. Customer Service is zilch. I went in there the other day because I haven't been in a while and I ordered. My food went down. The line got to check out and the cashier wouldn't bag my food. It was a to go order. she direct me to a table they had bags, and so forth. I had to do it myself and I'm walking with a Kane barely walking because of my ailment I said you don't bag for to go orders anymore. She replied NO, there's other people in line. well, that's always been the case it's always been people behind you in line and they still rang you up and bagged your order so that was a poor excuse because they've been doing it for years, so I don't know where the breakdown is, but you won't have to worry about me no more I don't know if it's across-the-board if all of the Luby's have adopted that poor service option but I know 7933 Veterans Memorial does because I was caught up in it. It's very humiliating to spend all that money for a meal and then you can't get it bagged sheesh Oh! How can I forget! The Mac and cheese was disgusting. They used to have great Mac and cheese. Breakfast buffet here was superb. The food was so good!! I came here to eat breakfast with my significant other for Valentines. The items on the buffet line was beef barbacoa, three different scrambled eggs (veggie, sausage, and plain), Spanish rice, pancakes, French toast, waffles, biscuits, hashbrowns, fried chicken, grits, oatmeal, sausage patties, and bacon. The lady that assisted us was Maria..she seemed nice after I told her my name was Maria also. She even joked with us. The drinks was orange juice, soda, milk, fruit punch, coffee, and tea. Everything was delicious--my favorite was the rice and the hash browns. The eggs were runny, but still was packed with flavor. The cashier was a bit weird though. My man and I both paid separately and the cashier looked as if we had red hair with roaches crawling on us. She didn't understand sarcasm either. My total was $8 and I gave her a $10 and she just stared at me as if I gave her a less amount. It was a really awkward conversation. I just looked at my man strangely thinking was she gonna be ok. The dining room area was big. Sadri, a lady walking around cleaning up was friendly. She stood inches away from me as if she was gonna kiss me--to ask how I was doing. Ordered delivery. My order was two fried fish dinners with, mash potatoes and creamed gravy, Mac and cheese.. and a salad with blue cheese dressing. When I received my order, there wAs no dinner rolls in either of the meals, no creamed gravy on the mashed potatoes, no tarter sauce as requested. The blue cheese container top was not on the container properly, so it had leaked all over the bottom of the bag, and my salad was SWIMMING in water inside it's container. Had to take refuge here for 9 hours due to the flooding during Tropical Storm Imelda. Food was good, the restaurant was incredibly clean, and the employees were fantastic especially the manager. He took in everyone looking for a way to get out of the flood waters and even helped push many cars that were swamped out of the street. Once the waters went down some, He helped me and many others find the best route out. That man truly cares about everyone who enters the restaurant. read more

This was my first time going to Luby's their breakfast buffet (Sat & Sun 5 am - 11 am) and I was impressed by the choice and taste of everything. I definitely will be back and the price was worth it $5.50 and a beverage is $2.29. However with the drink you can get juice, coffee, soda or switch it up on your next trip to the buffet line. They had 3 types of eggs, fried chicken, rice, beans, tacos, waffles, french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage and biscuits. These are just a few of the items on the buffet line. read more

This particular location has been around for a long time and still has good food and attentive staff that seems eager to fulfill the needs of the guest. This is probably my favorite Luby's in town. I have been to 2 or 3 others but what makes this different is the service when you sit and eat. The servers there are very sweet, especially the older man, providing anything you might need: napkins, condiments, and always a smile on his face. I love that. I've mainly done drive through at this location as it's the only one in the area that offers it. That said, it's generally a headache to deal with and here's why. The order taker person usually doesn't speak proper English. That coupled with the fact that the speaker is hard to talk into and hear makes it a frustrating experience ordering here. Every single time (can't stress that enough) they are out of something or other (never have chocolate icebox pie or other necessary desserts that Luby's is known for ) . I spoke to someone earlier (an American accented male ) via telephone who said he would make anything they claim to be out of but when the language barrier issue struck again, they tried my patience enough and I requested something else. Also, the Luann specials are very limited as to what you can actually get ( FYI Luby's some of us don't like chopped steak , fish, etc ) time for a makeover of this location. Gordon Ramsay please help them ! Edit- since I don't know how to comment directly to the manager who replied . The food was pretty lackluster . I ended up giving it to my relative and just not having supper because it had no seasoning no flavor the fish tasted a bit old and the pie had no flavor and was a bit hard. Meh read more
