And for a bar the food was fantastic If you come expecting a restaurant then the food is more three stars We came for happy hour so that made drinks and food 5$ each Because this place is a bar their kitchen is only capable of making fried food or raw food. I had the tofu - which was fried and placed on a bed of dashi sauce. This was made it a bit salty so I wouldn't recommend getting this fish Fried Chicken Literally chicken legs. While this was delicious it was really hard to eat! We told them so hopefully they will chop it up Into smaller pieces. It was served over a bed of sliced cabbage carrot cilantro...which is actually more Vietnamese ..but it worked Calamari - this was delicious. Lightly battered and fried. Friends had the pork ribs and they thought it was delicious. Another one had the seafood dip and thought it was great. They still have the tonkatsu but these isn't very Japanese. It was still good. The red sauce was interesting. Drinks Pineapple daquiri was so good!!! It had a slight kick to it Punch love was not my favorite. It was slightly bitter. Still good though. Been here a few times. It was a great find in a tucked away place. Their happy hour is great and I usually will order several items. I had the punch drunk love and my husband had the spicy pineapple drink. I love all the food I ordered: pork belly bao, calamari and thai curry wings. It was much food I couldn't finish the wings. Heard about this anime bar thru a customer of mine and I was not disappointed! The vegetarian options are amazing and tasty! My boyfriend had ramen, I had a poke bowl and we shared the vegetarian spring rolls. We will for sure the back! The ambience, service, and outdoor seating are beautiful. The food is flavorful and the drinks are unique( and strong!). The music here is on point and they play anime on the screens. The outdoor seating is lighted and the vibe is very low key. We went during the week and the crowd is minimal. I felt safe here even though Covid is winding down and many places are becoming lax with safety and sanitation protocols. I have a love-hate relationship with this little bar. I love the food and drinks, but sometimes the service is abismal. We went in yesterday night (May 12) and it was taking over 30 minutes to get an order of 4 beers. I thought it would be faster to go to the bar to order but it was well over 20 before anyone asked what I needed. I loved the old staff here, they were super attentive. This younger generation leaves a lot to be desired. I've left out of frustration more than once. I'm not sure if it's just when the manager isn't around, but I hope they can turn it around. Came last night with coworkers. Parking was difficult to find. You can either park in the front or the back and the restaurant is hidden from the streets. I parked in the back and walked on the path way that passes Frederick's. Hanzo is open seating so you can sit wherever you want if the place isn't full. We sat outside because it was quite crowded even during the rise of COVID. We came in time for HAPPY HOUR, but the selections for food were very limited. We got the midoriya margarita, special spring roll, tori katsu, fire breathing house rolls, and water breathing house rolls. The midoriya drink fell short from my expectation. I love the midori liquor so I was expecting a subtle sweet melon and citrusy flavor from the midori and bauchant liquor. What I received was mostly a lime margarita minis the salt. It wasn't as strong as it could be for a margarita either. Although it felt short from my expectations, it was still a refreshing drink to have in this SA weather. The special spring roll was not too impressive nor special. It's basically a spicy pork spring roll with enough kick for Americans. Stuffed pretty well and perfectly executed in the rolling and frying, but the filling fell short for me in flavor. It definitely wasn't just veggies, you can definitely see and taste a great amount of pork and see the sliced chilis, but that was all I could taste. It could use soy sauce or even minced ginger and garlic. A bit disappointing to me, but my coworkers loved it. The tori katsu was strange to say the least. Visually, I was expecting the red sauce to be Sriracha sauce, but it tasted more like a sweet marinara sauce. I loved the combination of the sweet and ssvory, warm and cold in this bowl. The cucumber noodles was a very refreshing partnership to the fried chicken katsu. Reminded me of a chicken milanase or milanesa cutlet over a bed of tossed salad. We enjoyed it! Both the fire and water breathing rolls were equally delicious. Most of the heat on the fire rolls came from the serrano peppers with the basic Sriracha mayo sauce. Good texture and good amount for its price. The water rolls were refreshing and lighter in taste. Both seemed pretty basic to me, nothing of a wow factor, but delicious nonetheless. We all enjoyed it. Was disappointed that some menu items were no longer available. Choices are limited during COVID times so it's understandable since staffs were limited too. Our waiter was the only one catering to the outdoor seaters so she was quite busy, but Did her best to serve us. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I call in, and am immediately put on hold by the owner. I am on hold for ten minutes before I show up, phone in hand, to this owner sitting right in front of the phone doing nothing. Upon realizing he had been caught, the owner gives a half-butted excuse and retreats inside. After which, however, a kind waitress came to me and gave me a glass of water. So not all bad! When we arrived we bumped into three people who made no effort to seat us. It was basically look for a place and sit. I love the decor but I think they need to update the chairs a bit. The one I sat on the foot piece was broken and the seats were dirty. The food was awesome. I loved the veggie wraps. The yellow tail sashimi tasted so fresh. The rolls could have been bigger. I had no idea that Hanzo even existed and I am so sad that I didn't discover it sooner! We've been 3 times in the last month, so we're making up for lost time. The bartenders and servers are great - friendly and prompt, and they can make a drink! My new favorite is the Vieux Carre....sadly, it's not on the happy hour menu, but that's ok! It's worth it! The food menu is limited to small plates, but they're delicious. My favorite plates are the spicy wings, the pork gyoza and the chicken katsu with those amazing cucumber noodles in miso ginger sauce. I could seriously eat a bowl of those all by themselves! Good food notwithstanding, the drinks are where it's at. They carry a lot of Japanese whiskeys, which are my new favorites, including Hibiki, Nikka and Yamazaki. The happy hour drink menu is small, but solid, with a Asian Old Fashioned being my favorite. The bartenders really know their stuff and they take pride in their craft. All in all, it's become our regular weekend/Friday happy hour spot. The wait times vary largely. The first app we ordered came out instantly and we thought it was a good sign. However, the foods after we're far and in between. Our entrees did not all come out at the same time. We were a group of four and had been swimming all day so were hungry. We ended up just sharing all our meals since the wait for the last entree was so long. The drinks were good they came out at a good pace. There is NO ramen :( which was a bummer since that's what I went for and wanted to try. The food quality was on point. I can't argue about that. The sushi was definitely on the more basic side. The menu selection was pretty small. This is a more drink spot and have small plates not a dinner spot so just understand that before you try to go.
