The broth needed a tad more flavor. We also shared the rice flour cake with egg, which was ok as well but I'll probably just get it this one time. Another favorite stop for Chinese-Vietnamese food! They used to be located across the street on Cook Rd until they relocated to their new current location two years ago. The space throughout the restaurant is a bit bigger and the restrooms were not too bad compared their old Cook locations. From eating here earlier this morning, I think they changed owners and have new cooks and some new servers. Our go-to here is always bánh bột chiên, which is my 2nd favorite after Tan Tan on Bellaire and this time it was good and crispy and worth to die for! After trying the general tso's chicken, crispy shrimp w/ a side of sweet and sour garlic sauce, and fried rice w/ shrimp and salted fish, I wanted to try their bún thịt nớng chả giò after being in a mood to have some of it. The vermicelli bowl is good and the grilled pork was good w/ enough fat in it. I will still try to come back here next time my family and I drive down to Bellaire! :) read more

We ordered the mi hoanh thanh (mi wonton) and a banh bot chien. -Mi hoanh thanh had a clean broth, but we like the broth at phanh ky and pho hai van more. Wontons were tasty. I think it was shrimp and pork filling. They were generous with wontons which I appreciated. Still good bowl of mi hoanh thanh nonetheless. -Banh bot chien is their specialty and a must get. Very crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Not soggy or oily. The outside layer stayed crunchy even towards the end of our meal. Lots of fried shallot and fresh scallions on top. Review is about safety the food was delicious. Well we came last week when we arrived everything seemed normal we ordered with the waiter who was wearing a mask go right. Then the owner brings are food with a big smile on his unmasked face I gambled and stayed. Then saw others working had removed there mask I guess because we didn't complain well we shouldn't have to should we. I came here quite some time ago for dinner with a friend and we were promptly seated. The menu has a wide array of dishes (soups, pho, noodles, rice, etc) and I had no trouble finding something I liked. I ordered the Garlic Spicy Chicken while my friend got a vermicelli dish. I asked if they had Thai tea and they said they had it bottled. When it came out they had put it in a glass of ice for me. The Thai tea didn't taste fresh (of course) and it wasn't my favorite. My food came out within 10 minutes. We waited for my friend's food as I hate eating before everyone has gotten their food. It took a while to come out, about 10-15 more minutes. It would have been nice if our food could have come out together. The food was good however. I enjoyed my chicken dish and there was SO MUCH food. I had leftovers for another meal or two. Plenty of parking here. This place is VERY generous when it comes to the portions. My go-to when coming here is the Malaysian flat noodle which is similar to "thai drunken noodles". I been here multiple times since then and always praise their food and services. I had cam fam, wonton noodles soup and flat rice noodles. All great. My experience yesterday was terrible. My boyfriend and I ordered one com tam grill port w/ fried egg and one fried rice bo luc lac w/ fried egg. The com tam came out at an orderly time and my boyfriend really enjoyed it. My meal on the other hand came out when he was almost done with his plate. The waitress did keep me updated throughout, but how in the world did a restaurant with max of 5 tables delayed my plate that long?! Probably bad luck this time around, and I won't order the bo luc lac anymore even though it was good and very comparable to Tan Tan's. I'll stick to my basics. read more

My in-laws and my husband and I decided to come here and try the new restaurant that replaced Pho Minh Phat. Fortunately, the food is as good, if not slightly better, than the previous restaurant. We ordered the Malaysian-style Seafood noodles (hu tieu xao Malaysian), banh bot chien, Bo Luc Lac, Korean-style beef ribs with Com Tam, and the pork and thousand-year-old preserved egg rice soup. All the food tasted fresh and well-prepared. Overall, it was another winner in the Chinatown area. I wouldn't drive all the way from Katy to go here. Got the BBQ pork and Chinese sausage fried rice and it was so good! Prob one of the best fried rices I've had. The texture of the rice is what stands out to me. One star less because the name is pretty confusing. Its Minh Phat Pho on Yelp, on location it is Pho Minh Phat, and online it is Minh Ky Mi Gia !!! Why do u have so many names? Name apart, its a great place, great service with smily people. Being totally vegetarian, we called ahead to check if there was anything for us, and went there only when they confirmed that they did. There is a separate vegetarian menu which Susan very promptly brought to us as soon as we were seated in the very neatly maintained restaurant. She explained every dish there and how it is made, she also made some suggestions about the appetizers. We got the sprint roll , the vegetables fried rice, coffee and sugarcane juice ( yes, they do sell sugarcane juice here- for all Indians who miss it, this is another place where u can get freshly made sugarcane juice). Food was without a doubt, yummy. Except the coffee- tasty as it was, I thought the quantity was very less compared to other places where I have bought Vietnamese coffee before. They also had something called the Banh Tieu, supposedly its available only on a Sat, and we got lucky.
