    Beef Soup
    Bryan V.

Beef Soup: clean, simple, and comforting soup. Decent amount of beef on the bones. Palate cleanser if you will. Gamjatang: Very visually appealing and flavorful broth. Tender pork. My favorite soup here to order. Bossam: I think this is their best item. The pork belly is sliced very clean and thin. It's boiled to perfection. Very addicting to eat as you continue to make more and more lettuce wraps. Galbi: pretty standard. Didn't blow me away but it's good enough to satisfy me. Better off going to a KBBQ restaurant for this. Jokbal: not pictured here but I would skip this dish. I got tired of it pretty quickly. The meat is a bit dry. Their side dishes are pretty solid as well! I like their kimchi. The call button on their tables is very useful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decorated very nicely inside and the servers are friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Soondae was great, everything else was too cold for my taste. We got the soondae combo, large jokbal, and pork rib soup. Soondae had a nice bounce, flavorful, and tasted amazing with the accompanying salt as well as side dishes. The rest, including the intestines that came with the soondae combo and the jokbal, was very room temperature. Almost cold. I did some research and apparently jokbal is served chilled, so I might be uncultured in my opinion. However, as someone new to the experience, the temperature made the meat stiff and bland - like you're eating meat straight from the fridge. That, along with the cold lettuce, garnishes, and side dishes, made for a rather confusing experience. The biggest pro for this place I feel is the portion to price ratio. The large jokbal was huge (pictured) and easily fed 4 people. The medium soondae was also a good size for sharing. We also got soup and a bottle of soju. The total came out to around $30/person, which I think is great value considering how much meat you get.

The food here is consistently delicious and feels like true homestyle Korean cooking. The portions are generous, everything comes out piping hot, and the flavors are bold without being overwhelming. Their bossam and soups are standouts for me since they're so comforting, and perfectly seasoned. The banchan is always fresh and plentiful, and you can tell the kitchen puts genuine care into every dish. One of my favorite Korean places in Houston for sure

A good korean place is hard to come by and so I'm extremely grateful that I found this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, I absolutely love a pocha vibe. It really lets me wind down and I'm glad I can watch Kpop music videos like it's cocomelon to turn off my brain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the food, we got the bossam and the gamjatang which are probably the best things to get here. They gave so much bossam for how much it cost and the pork was so fresh and soft. It paired really nicely with the kimchi banchan. The gamjatang was my favorite. It came out boiling hot and you can tell that the meat was stewed in the broth for a long time. The meat just fell off the bone and the broth itself was so flavorful and had that extra spicy kick that makes your nose runny, which is how I like it.

This place is SO good! I was blown away by the quality of the food, generous portions, and how affordable everything was. The bossam was ok, but the real stars were the galbi and jokbal. The galbi was tender and packed with flavor from their soy garlic marinade. The jokbal was rich and I enjoyed its gelatinous skin juicy meat, highly recommend. The complimentary pickled onions, banchan, garlic, ssam, and lettuce wraps rounded everything out beautifully. Even though I usually prefer more fermented kimchi, their fresh version was still delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is clean and spacious, with fast, attentive service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved the table call button. No need to flag down servers, just press and they're right there. Everything came out quickly, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. As a bonus, they even offer a discount for paying in cash. Will definitely be back the next time I am in the area!

I've been coming here for a while because I love their jok bal and guk baps so much! Their jok bal portions are pretty generous and everything I ate there is pretty solid. This is one of my go-to Korean restaurants in the Houston area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner is super sweet, and the place is usually not too packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bonus: I also like how they have kpop music videos on![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Gamja tang (potato stew w pork)
    Sean K.

Came here with my Korean mom, and we were both blown away by how good the gamjatang was. Rich, spicy broth, tender pork neck bones, perfectly cooked potatoes, and a generous sprinkle of perilla seeds--it was comforting, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. My mom kept nodding and saying, "I like!" and you know it's the real deal when even a 70 year old Korean mom gives it her stamp of approval. The portion was almost enough for two, and it came bubbling hot in a stone pot with plenty of banchan like cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and onions with jalepeno (all fresh and very tasty). This spot is tucked inside the Welcome Center, in the same parking lot as Paris Baguette and Shabu En, so it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it--but totally worth finding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is clean and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was also top notch, and they have a button at each table that you can press to get staff's attention instead of having to wave someone down. We'll absolutely be coming back. If you're craving gamjatang that tastes like something you'd get in Korea, this place is a pleasant surprise!

Their bone neck soup is my favorite. Perfect for a cold day or when you're feeling under the weather. It's incredibly comforting. The flavor can be a little mild, but I actually like it that way. I usually just add a bit of soy sauce or salt, the way I grew up eating it. The staff are friendly, and the environment is nice and welcoming.

It's been a while since I first tried this restaurant when they opened. I read some good reviews and decided to give them another try. MISTAKE. It's worst than I remembered. Food was not good. It was warm and not hot. The Kalbe was horrible and near expired meat with tons of black pepper. Lots of MSG salt. I drank lots of water. It was not that busy and they didn't refill my water till I finally stopped them to refill. I completely understand when it's busy but when it's not busy, they need to be check in on customers and offer refills. Service was horrible. The waitress looks like she doesn't want to be here. She never smiled. The customers here needed help and she took her time cleaning tables when they had plenty of clean tables available but several group of customers waiting for checks and water/drink refills.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was quick and the restaurant was very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got their specialty jokbal combo soup. It came with ban chan and water on the side. The ban chan was very good but they forgot our order and almost gave us someone else's Soup was bland Jokbal was okay

This is honestly more of a 4.5 but I rounded down just because it didn't "wow" me and the menu is small compared to other Korean places. I have tried the bossam, jakbal, galbi, soups, etc. and overall all of the foods are fresh, REALLY good, with big portions. The galbi and soups are flavored very well (and hot). My favorite is the Gamja Tang - meat is also very tender. They are also very generous with their side dishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is on the smaller end so you may have to wait on peak hours/weekends but I never had to wait an extremely long time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is variable but overall good (and they are at least attentive). They have a button on the table whenever you need to call someone. And the food does come out quickly! Probably why the food is so hot. A great place for people that want to try Korean soups and Jokbal/Bossam.

Jokbal Jungsik with all the sides it comes with. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend!
    Kelly N.

I ordered the JOKBAL JUNSIK to-go and it was better than I could've expected! I was thoroughly impressed! This is the small, single-person serving, but it took me 2 sittings to finish with all of the sides included. Everything was packed and separated very nicely. One box came with fresh lettuce, jalapeño slices, garlic slices, and dipping sauces. Another box had kimchi and pickled veggies, which were really good and tasted very fresh! There was a small container of soybean paste soup, which was good and had a little kick from the jalapeños. And, finally, a small box of white rice and a medium box of jokbal. The JOKBAL reminded me of a Vietnamese dish called thit kho, because they have a pretty similar flavor. It was very savory, rich, and delicious. There were a lot of fatty bits, but also more lean bits hidden under the pretty slices placed on top, so it's more than it looks. I highly recommend it!

    Sandra K.

This place is all stews and some meat so if you want traditional, this is the place to go. My family got mostly everything from M1 to M5 and then a galbi dish. Not a ton of banchan and the kimchee was meh but the radish and the marinate onions/jalapenos were really tasty. Our soups all had wonderful flavorful broths and huge chunks of meat that were stewed. They give you a bucket for your bones and there were a lot! The kalbi came out sizzling and with a soup and was delicious. Parking was nice and easy and there are a lot of retailers in the area if you wanted to jump around. Service was fast.

I was impressed by the portion size, because each half could've been placed in a separate bowl, add more broth (shaved ice and a slice of Korean pear optional), and that's two portions in most places. Historically, these noodle dishes were a rare treat and a delicacy, as these noodles were very labor intensive and hard to make (although I'm sure they're mass produced now), and had to be served cold in the summer heat. Banchan was tasty too, including the kimchi which was early in the fermentation stage. The kimchi pancake was huge, definitely had to take this one to go, and came with an optional Korean-style spicy soy dipping sauce. I ordered the combo and went with the Bulgogi, which was tender and tasty, but didn't come sizzling so the pan it came in was more for display. Still, great good, fantastic value, and definitely the real deal. It's not as fancy as some of the more expensive neighborhoods of Houston (and a bit out of the way for me), but sometimes you just want some really tasty and unpretentious Korean comfort food.

My husband's seolleongtang was amazing too. The banchan was fresh and well-prepared, and every dish we had was delicious. The service was absolutely perfect. The ladies working there were incredibly kind and even brought my husband extra noodles for his soup without us asking. That small gesture really made our experience even more memorable. That said, the consistency of both service and food quality between visits can be noticeable. Service can be very slow at times, even when the restaurant isn't particularly busy. We've had issues with banchan not being brought out, grills not being turned on, and fish orders taking nearly an hour to arrive. Food quality can also be hit or miss. For example, the Cheese Crab Puffs have occasionally arrived completely cold with barely any crispiness or color, and we've had similar issues with other appetizers. My favorites are the Garlic Salmon Sashimi, Black Angus Marinated Short Rib, Wagyu Beef Belly, Black Angus Rib Finger, and Thick Cut Pork Belly. I also enjoy the Takoyaki, Crispy Tuna Rice, and Tteokbokki. There are a few dishes I would skip, including the Spicy Scallop Sashimi and Nigiri unless you enjoy very small scallops, the Baked Green Mussels, which are overly sweet, and the Prime Beef Brisket, which I've found to be tough and dry. Overall, there are plenty of dishes I genuinely enjoy here, but the inconsistency keeps this from being a place I can wholeheartedly recommend. When everything is executed well, it's a great meal, but you never quite know what kind of experience you're going to get. That being said, I tend to get good ones the majority of the time.

One downside was that there were quite a few flies inside the restaurant, which became pretty annoying during our meal. Overall, it is a good spot if you are looking for a quick meal to satisfy your Korean food craving.
