Jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk is peak comfort food for me so I'm always looking for it. I'll admit, I'm very picky since I'm always comparing it to my fave spot (which sadly is in another state) but I try not to let that affect my judgment too much. The tangsuyuk here is the closest I've come to my fave so far with great batter and crispiness. The sweet and sour sauce was thicker and had less vegetables than I'd like but was still good and I appreciated that it was served on the side without me having to ask. The Jajangmyeon wasn't speaking to me as much, but I still ate it! As someone who frequently dines solo, I really appreciated the combo menu options. It can be tricky to order Chinese or Korean food when a lot of places do family style portions for sharing. I often wind up with more food (and a bigger check) than I need for just me! The combo option was still a huge serving but not overwhelming and it was a great price!

I came here for lunch and thought that it was a great Korean-Chinese restaurant! As someone from NYC, it's so difficult to find Korean-Chinese fusion dishes so when I found one while I was in Virginia, I was so happy! The restaurant is homey and casual, with great quick service. We ordered their special dumplings, jjajjangmyeon, tansuyuk, beef fried rice, and donkatsu. It was an all-around amazing meal. The dumplings were huge and saucy (despite being so red, they were actually fairly sweet). The jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk were hits and both delicious. I also loved how they gave black bean sauce and jjampong broth on the side for you to enjoy with your fried rice. The only dish that might've been a miss was the donkatsu as we thought it was a bit dry. Otherwise, everything was great and I would definitely come back if I was craving Korean-chinese fusion, or just a comforting meal!

We ordered takeout from here for a party several hours ahead of time on their website. While most of the food was pretty good (lo mein, fried rice, bulgogi), the spicy squid dish was disappointing. The sauce was watery, so most of the squid was unseasoned/didn't hold the sauce, and the squid had a more rubbery texture. The reason why I give 4 stars and not 3 is because the staff told us they lost our order, but were able to spin up the 5 dishes we ordered in record speed of under 7 minutes to get our pick-up order ready in time, which I really appreciated! Maybe next time I'd come back I'd try dine-in and focus on their Chinese-Korean dishes like jajangmyun, which is more of their specialty.

Health: On the heavy side, but genuine enough for what's in the cuisine. It's a slightly Americanized portion Korean restaurant. Not bad for someone who knows what's actually in each dish. Not exactly light though. Price: Decent. Not too bad either way. The portion size is definitely enough for what you pay for a dish. Experience: Made pretty quickly. I arrived on the later side and they were accommodating. The interior was clean, the menu was clear with English and Korean. Good. Taste: Very flavorful, and with a decent variety to it. Each dish tasted as good as it looked, without too many good or bad surprises. Though, I will say the dumplings were very good. Kinda heavy, but the sauces did add so much flavor. Them being made in house was a bonus. Green flag. Very nice Good taste. Significant portions for the price. Fast Service. Overall, not bad. I might come here again.

This was my second visit, and the food quality has improved a lot compared to before, but by the time I was almost finished eating, I found a fly in my jjamppong. I have no intention of coming back.

My wife, two teenage sons, and I came here in early August 2025 for a Saturday night dinner. First, it's a clean, informal place that's family-friendly with lots of parking in a strip mall. The location is a few minutes south from the Lotte Plaza in Centreville - kind of close to the Route 29 and New Braddock Road intersection. Second, the Tang-Su-Yuk with pork was amazing - very tasty. The regular jja-jjang myun noodles were OK, but not particularly flavorful. One of my sons ordered the jjam-pong which he enjoyed a lot. I think it's probably better to dine-in at the restaurant because it's best to eat the Tang-Su-Yuk while it's hot. Third, the service was very good. After ordering within a few minutes of arriving, we were asked if everything was OK (or if we needed a refilling of water or the appetizer tray of yellow radishes and onions). I think it's a solid option for Korean-Chinese food in northern VA.

TAKEOUT REVIEW : Ordered takeout for 2 for dinner. We ordered jjang meon, medium chicken tang su yuk, and combo b+c (fried tied and jjang meon). We picked up the food pretty quickly after it was called in and got home within 5 minutes. Noodles were already room temp when opened the takeout out. Jjang meon sauce was also not hot. This made for a barely warm bowl. The fried rice was good and had a nice smokey flavor. Chicken tang su yuk was very crispy and this was actually hot. Overall everything tasted good but the temperature was off for the noodle dish. I think eating in person instead of getting takeout would be a better experience but I guess this was okay for what it was

We really love coming here! And it's always pretty busy when we do go! Nevertheless, the service is great and the place is very lively! My go to is the combo tangsuyuk and jjampong. I loooooove it! Portions here are always massive. My favorites are the yoo rin gi pork and the japchae jjangjangmyun. The japchae jjangjangmyun especially is a pretty big portion for the price! (I think 12.99?) (However I wouldn't get the regular jjangjangmyun it was alright)

Good fusion alternative to Jang Won for Korean Chinese Tried this place in March to venture out from Jang Won which is my go to Korean Chinese place in Centreville. Hao ru is easy to find and located in a quieter and smaller shopping center. The decor is straightforward and clean but nothing special. Clientele skews younger and appeared to be mostly Asian. Service is good with to the point interactions (I speak Korean so no language barrier). Got the fried dumplings to start (dumplings are large, crispy, and tasty), seafood jjam pong (stir the broth prior to eating since the broth tasted better on the bottom; some of the veggies in there were non traditional but hey it works), tang jja myun ie combo b + d (jja jang myun was a bit sweet for my liking but still good. Tang su yook was good), and khan poong shrimp (best dish of the spread. Shrimp was fresh and fried coating was perfectly chewy, spicy, and sweet). I think the flavors here are more fusion vs traditional korean chinese but enjoyed the dishes nonetheless. I liked the jjam pong better than the jja jang myun. Curious to try the cream shrimp next time!

It's up there with Jang Won. JaJaMyun and TangSuYuk sauce is smoother than Jangwon. Taste is more suddle. Portions is healthier than Jangwon. JamPong broth carried the same characteristics as well, smooth and suddle. Prices also slightly cheaper than JangWon. On a Wednesday night and it's packed with Korean families, is a good sign. Service was attentive and friendly. Always checked on our table.

Haoru is a family friendly restaurant that won't break your bank. There aren't too many Korean-Chinese food options in Centreville. I have tried Haoru for about 2 years now. I think the food, cleanliness and service was better in the beginning. I think it is the natural order of things for restaurants to get dirty over time, but there are improvements to be made in terms of cleanliness. The portion size is generous for a good price. I like their brisket Jjampong and gan jjajang. The tang su yuk here doesn't have a whole lot of batter around it so I appreciate that. You can either pour the sauce or dip the individual pieces based on your preference. Also, this is a tip: put some ice cubes in the pickled radish along with some vinegar. It'll make the radish crunchier. There are plenty of parking in the mall.

Seafood gan ja jan was standard we ended up ordering more noodles to soak up the sauce.

The seating is bright and clean. The servers greet you as you walk in! My brother and I got the regular Jja jang myeon and the kan Jja jang myeon with seafood and the large pork tang su yuk. The tang su yuk is just crispy enough for our tasting. Both jja jang myeons were great! The kan jja jang is a bit saucier but I like it that way. It is a clean and nice Korean-Chinese restaurant. This restaurant offers various Korean-Chinese menu. Service is attentive and food are delicious. Their Jjajang noodles is not sweeter side which tells me this is not an old-fashion style jjajang noodles. It is still delicious but noodles are a bit hard. Their tang suyook is righteous. Some Korean-Chinese restaurants fry tang suyook meats ahead of time (to save time and quickly serve). That process makes meat dry out quickly (and become hard). Hao Ru's tang sooyuk is fresh and delicious. I believe they fry meats each time they get tang sooyuk order. I definitely recommend it. Their serve hot tea in stainless insulated cup which looks fancy and stays warm for longer. It is a nice touch. Hao Ru is clean and a spacious restaurant. Normal Korean food. They do taste good though! I love the brisket jjampong. Other restaurants don't have an option to put beef in jjampong so I really like this. We also ordered Yoo Rin Gi, I actually like it more than tangsuyuk (sweet and sour thick sauce). This one has more like a liquidy sauce but it's a bit sweet, spicy, sour. It's more umami in my opinion. The price seems a bit high but the portion is huge so it's understandable. Not a bad place to eat when you're craving Korean food. The place is clean. I got the sachun (spicy) jjajangmyun and the noodles were SO spicy. Although I'm a big fan of the spice.. this one was just too spicy! I really like their sweet and sour chicken dish. Yoo ran ji I think is what it was called It's yummy. I would come here just for that. Their lo mein is good too. The menu can be scanned on ur phone so no need to wait for menu to be delivered. Seems like they are also suffering from lack of staffing, so be patient or just don't go on a busy busy rush rush mindset. Lol. Food takes some time to come out. read more

You've heard the saying you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a a pig. That's this restaurant. It's changed names like it's trying to Con folks after bad reviews from previous names. Food is still awful. 5 star reviews are fake since they've only reviewed one or two places so beware! Cons: Jajang myung is days old and tasted musty. Spanish cooks in the back don't understand how to make the food. Shrimp and broccoli was a nightmare since it only contained 5 measly pieces of shrimp. I can see why the previous reviewers were disappointed at the Oliver Twist portions they were getting. Nope. Never coming back don't care about the next "new" place. Try at your own risk but know the owners are still the same! read more

For years, Choong Hwa Won was the Korean Chinese stalwart in Annandale, but now Hao Ru in Centreville has come to play! Located in an unassuming shopping center, it has a menu filled with Korean Chinese classics. Ja Jang myung/black bean noodles (comes in multiple varieties, pork tang soo yuk/sweet and sour pork with dipping sauce on the side, and jampong/seafood soup noodles are on point! They're definitely some of the best in the DMV and the portions are a great value (aka a lot of food!) too. Highly recommend! read more

we came to this restaurant for lunch after reading all the great reviews, and it exceeded expectations! the service was amazing, our waiter was so kind and gave us a detailed explanation of the menu, along with suggestions for first-time customers. the whole place had a lovely, familial ambiance. the portions here are enormous! the spicy mandu appetizer was perfectly crispy on the outside, i recommend eating this quickly before the sauce makes it soggy. the jap chae ja jang meon was delicious, i loved the texture of both types of noodle. the chicken tang su yuk was crispy and had a delicious, light batter that went very well with the jap chae ja jan meon. definitely coming here again to try other items on the menu, one of the best Korean/Chinese restaurants in nova for sure. Was in the mood to take out some noodles and decided to try Hao Ru. Did take out to bring home and loved that everything was still piping hot even though I was a bit late to picking up my order. The noodles looked underwhelming at first but I absolutely loved that it was perfectly al dente for being take out. The jjajang and jjampong both had great flavor and a good amount of vegetables and protein (meat and seafood) in them. I was kind of hoping for a slightly bigger spicier kick with the jjampong since that's what I'm use to, but the flavor was still great and loved that it tasted clean without feeling thirsty/sleepy after. I saw this restaurant on someone's TikTok and it looked delicious! Decided to try it out with a friend and we both agreed this place was amazing. We ordered the Yoo Rin Gi and the Hao Ru Seafood with noodles. I highly recommend getting these!! The Seafood noodles were savory with the perfect amount of spicy while the Yoo Rin Gi had a crunch and nice flavorful sauce/broth at the bottom. Very generous serving sizes as well. Our server even offered to help take a picture of my friend and me which was very thoughtful. He was so polite and helpful, and attended to us when we needed something. The restaurant is well lit, clean, and inviting. I will absolutely be coming back and will tell all my friends to come here. read more

This the BEST Chinese Korean food in the area; and I have been to many of them. Whoever prepare and cook all the dishes in the menu still care about the ingredient; they really taste homemade. I love love the fried dumplings (side menu)- size, filling and texture are perfect: big, crispy, and have some chewyness. I ordered three dishes and they are all tasty. The portions are big. I had some leftover. The leftover didn't stink my car which I suspect they don't go overboard with using garlic which I am so happy and appreciate.The decor is simple and clean but has warm nostalgic vibe. I definitely will come back to try other dishes. This is really a hidden gem. read more

I usually eat at the other Korean Chinese place called Jangwon and ran across Hao Ru. Wow! Definitely better jamppong and tangsuyuk. I travel a lot to Korea, and this place reminds me of some places in Korea. The pork tangsuyuk has actual meat! Haahaa. What a novel idea. As a Korean, this place caters to more native Koreans because it's not as salty as other places. The jamppong had a smokey flavor. Give this place a try. The owner is actually the chef! read more

We were seated very quickly. We actuality got to sit anywhere we wanted. We ordered two plates of dumplings, one spicy and one not. We should have only ordered one plate because the portion was huuuge! A lot bigger than we had expected it to be. JJajangmyun (brown noodles) were great for the kids! We got the extra large portion. Back to the original ways, this place serves great and delicious chinese-korean food. They have safe seating and great servers as well. The lady server was so nice and generous as well as polite. They give big portions for a decent price and have specials for lunch that are definitely worth it. We ordered the beef tangsuyuk, jjajangmyun and jjambbong. The tangsuyuk was definitely worth, they give a big portion and season it very well. The noodles in the other dishes were satisfying to slurp and also carried the sauce/soup very well. I really surprise for the good rating this place especially by koreans. I ordered for 6 party, jjajangmien an jjampong, and tangsuyook two month back when my younger daughter visit home couple of days. It was my second worst Korean-Chinese dishes since I ate it in San Paulo, Brazil 30 years back. THIS IS NOT KOREAN-CHINESE FOOD at all. And much as I love the traditional tteok-beokki sauce, I really enjoyed the sweet chili sauce on these! Bulgogi kimbap was well above average as well. The seaweed wrapper was the right consistency, neither too soft nor too dry, and the ratio of wrapper to rice to filling was outstanding. I'll admit that I could have used a touch more picked radish, but that's a personal preference because I just really, really love the vinegar tang, overall they had the right ratio. The kimbap was super fresh, perfectly balanced, and I have to say--it's honestly genius that they add avocado to the tuna. It made it so creamy and elevated the whole roll in the best way. The tteokbokki was just as good--perfectly chewy rice cakes with a rich, spicy-sweet sauce that tasted so authentic and comforting. You can really tell this spot cares about their food. It's easily my favorite place in the DMV and I'll keep coming back every time I'm craving Korean comfort food. Highly recommend!!
