Came here with my Yelp friend. It had been on my list forever, and I was so happy to finally try it. It's tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, and I've probably passed it a gazillion times and never even noticed it was there. My friend had called the day before to see if there was anything gluten-free on the menu. They were so helpful when we showed up. They had remembered her call and could tell her exactly what was gluten free. This is a very casual order at the counter kind of place. The dining room is simple, but that's okay because the focus is on the yummy food. They have single plates and double plates on the menu. I got a plate that had kalbi and kalua pork. It was served with white rice, macaroni salad, and kimchi. It was amazing! The pork tasted Smoky and delicious, the kalbi beef had just the right amount of sweetness to it. The macaroni salad was also perfect. I got quite a bit of food for my money. I was able to make it into two meals because there was no way I was going to finish it in one sitting. I really like Hawaiian food, and this one is so much better than some of the chain restaurants. It's slightly more in price, but it's 100% worth it. We sat and talked for a couple hours at least. This is our favorite spot for Hawaiian food. All their food is really good and the service is always really friendly. We've enjoyed everything we've had but my favorites are the kalbi, poke, hurricane chicken, and the garlic shrimp. The poke is always fresh and never tastes fishy. Their kalbi plates have a lot of kalbi and it's always cooked perfectly. The inside is a little small and it's always pretty pretty busy so keep that in mind if going during peak hours. Orders typically take around 30 min to be ready so plan to order accordingly. Definitely give this place a try, you will not regret it. Even though my chicken was warm due to my tardiness it was still good. Now, the reason the chicken was warm was because I did get there 15 minutes past the pick up time. Nonetheless the food was great!! Today, Friday 7/31 I order ahead again. I get the same combo order but not the poke. I added on garlic shrimp (8.99). I get there early this time so I can experience the true tastiness of the food being hot. So I thought. My pick up time was 12:15pm I get there around 12:08. The young lady tells me they are waiting for the shrimp to get done. No problem. I get my food. Once again, sit in my car to taste the food and I was so disappointed. The garlic chicken was like warm like it was old and reheated from last nights batch they didn't sell. The beef ribs were good but a little more greasier than on Wednesday. Then the shrimp... I got 4 shrimp yall. FOUR!! That definitely was t worth $8.99. After this experience I don't think I'll be back as often as I originally planned to go but I will be back. There were quite a few people in there so I think next time I would order ahead vs waiting in for 30 minutes... The food did not disappoint! I had the Kalbi and garlic chicken combo . I did t realize the chicken was deep fried. I would have preferred a non deep fried option, but it was good! My daughter had the shrimp and chicken. It was all great, but the portions were huge. Been seeing this place on my social media and I absolutely love galbi and steak. We came on a day that served the ribeye 29.99$ and also ordered the galbi plate 24.99. Both were very good along with the Mac salad. The kimchi with the galbi is perfect, I only wish there was more. The kalbi leaned on the sweeter end than the sweet-savory balance I usually prefer but still tasty and the meat tender. The mac salad was creamy. First off, let me just start by saying I will make the 45 minute commute from the West valley. They are worth it every time and food is consistent. Hot and freshly made to order. They are amazing through and through. Service is top tier and they stay busy. My favorite- Kalbi and Garlic Chicken plate. Perfect every time. The food is bursting of flavor and easily sharable depending on how hungry you are. I purposely get my own just to have extra for later. They have a cute little store with limited seating for groups, so plan accordingly. They offer desserts as well malasadas which I haven't tried. I shared with coworkers and had one hours later and it was still good. Did not taste oil soaked at all. Not as big and dense as Tex Drive Inn (for those from the Big Island). Service was ok. Could've been a little more pleasant but it was already busy 5 minutes in to them opening so that may have contributed. Also, if you dine in, don't sit at the tables toward the back.
