Recently ordered lunch while in town for work. Only about 5 minutes from the office so it was very convenient. I ordered the Regular plate with Polehu steak and spicy poke. The steak was very good. Well seasoned and had a ton of flavor. There were not fatty pieces. Great for eating around coworkers. The spicy poke was delicious! I love Hawaiian style poke (not a poke bowl) and it was everything I hoped for. Slightly spicy, creamy, great flavor and fresh tasting ahi. The white rice was nice and sticky and the mac salad was great, not the best I have had but every recipe is a little different. I would happily return next time I am in Phoenix! read more

I got teriyaki chicken and Kailua pork, alongside two scoops of rice, and two giant scoops of Mac salad. Plus, I gave into impulse and got some Spam Musabi. Parking: Easy, open, and free. I should note that I'm from California, so my palate may differ. Portions were generous, but the chicken katsu was unseasoned. Someone in the back simply deep-fried it and called it a day. The katsu sauce tasted more like a mix of BBQ sauce and ketchup, lacking the umami depth and subtle sweetness I usually expect. The mac salad was decent, though I prefer Ono's version by a wide margin. Service was quick and efficient, done Chipotle-style where they assemble your bowl in front of you. For work I had to place and pick up a catering order for an all day training for 12-15 people. I asked some of the team members what they'd recommend, and they mentioned this place for something more unique than pizza or sandwiches. It looked like a cute location and had very reasonable catering prices. I was able to place the order online, and the pick up was so easy! The food was delicious and stayed warm how they packaged it. Aloha! I stopped in and tried a regular plate with Kalua pork and katsu chicken. I chose Mac salad, and green salad for my sides and it came with rice. The staff were friendly and the food was very good. Definitely satisfied my craving for Hawaiian food. It has a great vibe. Inside there is plenty of seating as well as outside. Easiest way to say this is it is a Panda Express type of setup. Food is precooked and held on the service line. We had the regular choice. Food was decent for what it was. More affordable than most "Hawaiian" establishments. Two plates, 1/4 poke for less than $40. I wished the mochiko chicken was more like mochiko chicken and not teriyaki beef but minor concern. We went in at 8:15pm and all the chairs were up and floor was wet from mopping. Looks like they were closing even if the sign said 9pm. No big deal, we are in the car. This said, staff were polite and pleasant. Other than it looking like they were closed we didn't feel rushed to order. Eating in the car in the dark didn't provide a good photo opportunity so no photos taken. Portions were good. Poke was surprisingly decent. Friendly staff and good food! Popped in here for lunch a couple weeks ago. Not from the Ahwatukee area but was craving Hawaiian food and noticed this place had good reviews. Not disappointed with my choice to stop by, it was an overall enjoyable experience. My partner and I each got a Regular plate and shared a side of Poke. For meats we got the Katsu chicken, Kalua pork, Teriyaki chicken, and Mochiko chicken. All were great. For sides we got the Mac Salad, Garlic Edamame, and Kimchi slaw. Worst experience tonight at the Ray Rd in Ahwatukee tonight with the only girl on the line. she was rude and just slapped the food in the tin plate. I asked her for 1 scoop of rice after seeing her slap my husbands plate with mounds of rice. in which he asked for brown rice and she just said we don't have any. We run businesses and if this was my employee she would be talked to or shown the door. i would definitely make my employees are not wearing ear buds when customers are ordering and working the line. she was not wearing a name tag. I was really craving Hawaiian food and we wanted to try something new. Moku has great reviews so I was excited to try it. They offer many proteins such as moku chicken, teriyaki chicken, steak, and even poke! I liked that they allow you to sample. I was curious to try the moku chicken and it was delicious at first bite! It's sweet and savory. The teriyaki chicken sample that I ate was dry. I ended up ordering the large plate which comes with 3 proteins and 2 sides. I doubled up on the moku chicken and ordered the Hawaiian poke with mac salad and kimchi slaw. If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm picky about my carbs, especially the rice. It wasn't the traditional short grain sticky rice. It was a little dryer and it was unpleasant. As I dug into the moku chicken, many pieces were dry, just like the teriyaki chicken that I sampled. It was definitely overcooked but other pieces were decent. The mac salad and kimchi were just okay. The Hawaiian poke is their saving grace. It's actually pretty good and I wish I had more of it. My fiance ordered the same thing but with steak and he said it was overcooked as well. I'm not sure if we went on a bad day but I was disappointed. Came in for some dole whip on a Saturday around 6:30 p.m. There were two workers.m and a couple people dining in. They only had the large sized drinking cups with strawberry flavor. That cup is $5.75 with a lid. They said they won't have the pineapple flavor until Tuesday. Sad day! read more

Solid 4 Stars Mom had an appointment at the medical offices next door and the aroma coming out of Moku Hawaiian Grill almost had me floating in the air and carrying me in like you would see the cartoons! This is my first trip to Moku Hawaiian Grill and oh boy I found a place that I look forward to returning and exploring more menu items! It is located in a very small unassuming strip mall. When you walk in you will find a relatively clean dining area. It is spread out with lots of room. The only thing that stood out were some garbage enclosures(fast food type with a slot where you would throw your garbage into) pushed against one of the walls. Not sure if they're waiting to be installed or waiting to be scrapped. I walk up to the counter to place my order and the young man who helps me is very polite and efficient with taking my order and getting to the person behind me. They are set up cafeteria style where everything is laid out on their counter in steam tables/coolers and a sneeze guard that separates the customer side of the line. I went with a "Regular Plate". It comes with two scoops of your choice of brown or white rice, two proteins and two sides. It is more than enough to take leftovers back or share with someone. For my proteins, I went with Teriyaki Steak and Pulehu Steak. For my sides, I went with double Macaroni Salad. Being trained from all the other Hawaiian Grills I've been to where this is the standard curated plate. I can't wait to try out other sides on my next trip! For being cafeteria style, OMG both steak options were tender, moist and delicious! I very much enjoyed my meal at Moku Hawaiian Grill. If I had to pick one item that is a red flag and caused me not to give this place a perfect score was the men's bathroom, I can't speak about the condition of the woman's bathroom. It was not filthy, but it could use some cleaning. The bathroom itself is in desperate need of remodeling. It is as if they worked on the entire place and ran out of energy to make it nice. I am so proud of Moku's since day one. Ono (delicious) food and service is nice too. I went to Moku's last weekend after being away for maybe 3 months or so. I must share one pretty big disappointment in one obvious change. Your mac salad that is being served now is a complete 180, a departure from the original. I don't understand why you would serve something that is not true to the local plate lunch taste and not tasty. Giving a 3.5 rating because the katsu chicken, mochiko chicken, rice, and edamame were on point. The mac salad change is a big deal IYKYK. read more

Both bowls were really good in their own way but I did prefer the teriyaki chicken because it had more flavor than the steak. And the steak was very chewy (well done). Went here for the first time with some family. The menu is very simple which is nice so you can easily pick what you want. The service was fast, our plates were ready in under a few minutes. The staff behind the counter weren't very friendly though. The cost is reasonable for the large portion sizes. The kimchi salad is hot, I didn't care for it, but if you like hot things, I'm sure it will be your jam. I had the katsu chicken and mochiko chicken and they were both good. Mac salad is okay. This is one of the best Hawaiian joints I've tried in Phoenix as of so far (aside from Hapa Food Co.)! This restaurant is located in Ranch Circle Place right across from The Kolache Cafe, and parking is easy to find in the lot within the plaza. The restaurant itself is a "build-your-own" style similar to Chipotle, so you walk up to the window and immediately start building your bowl or plate. I got a bowl with two scoops of white rice, two scoops of Hawaiian poke, and two sides of salted edamame. My order was promptly assembled and came out to a reasonable price given the portion size (which is pretty generous, esp in comparison to other places). I quite liked my food! The poke was cut into thick cubes and was coated in a tasty sauce. The ratio of fish to rice was pretty good as well, and I appreciated that they offered the side of edamame (again something that other places skimp on). The edamame was a little too salty but given that the poke was the star of the dish, I didn't mind too much. I would definitely come back to get my poke fix!! read more

Great local find to my new neighborhood of Awahtukee. A friend and I dined here months ago after a crazy sunset post-work hike in South Mountain, not knowing i'd be down the street from it present day! Was looking for something not crazy expensive and different from our usual sports bars. The pics do it no justice- it's really great bang for your buck! It was fairly dead when the two of us stopped by so the employee explained the different meats, how it works, etc. So here I am again coming back now that I live closer! My fave parts of the build your own plate are the pork and the teriyaki chicken and the macaroni salad. Macaroni salad is no way an actual salad BUT it is SO GOOD, especially with a little bite of the pork and rice. It's a healthy portion of food for $11 (regular plate), I normally can't it it all. Was in the area and desperate to grab something I can't typically get in my town. Decided to try this place and wasn't expecting much. I was surprised when I took my first bite of the Mochiko Chicken and the Kimchi Slaw. Everything that I ate there was perfect! The Mochiko Chicken is so flavorful and the Kimchi Slaw is a really unique menu item that I'm happy to say was very tasty! It truly had the best parts of Kimchi and Coleslaw combined. I highly recommend! The service was also on the faster side and the employees were all very friendly. Really wish I lived closer to this location. I asked my Bf if he thought he'd like this place more than his favorite Hawaiian place. He gave me a doubtful glance, followed by "We'll see." Moku is a fast food style Hawaiian grill: you build a plate with hot, ready items. I opted for a regular which is 2 meats and 2 sides. I ordered the kalua pork and mochiko chicken and subbed rice for an extra side: Kimchi slaw, Mac salad, and corn. Bf ordered a large which is 3 meats, 3 sides: katsu chicken, teriyaki chicken, and pulehu steak; subbed rice for an extra side of Mac salad and a green salad. We also HAD to get the pineapple dole whip and chose the swirl with strawberry. While dine in is an option, we chose to take our dinner to go. The mochiko chicken was my fave! The glaze/seasoning was flavorful and all of the chicken we had was moist and tender! Even in the white meat katsu! Get the katsu sauce to dip it in! Bf's second favorite was the pulehu steak! The pork was a welcome different texture, and although some Yelpers found it to be salty, I did not. The pork was good but I'd probably skip it next time. As for sides we enjoyed the kimchi slaw! It had a nice tang to it. We love Mac salad and the Mac salad was creamy and delicious! The corn was regular sweet corn and I'd probably skip it next time unless you love corn. The green salad was really just arugula but Bf enjoyed the ginger dressing he chose. The pineapple/strawberry dole whip swirl was amazing! The strawberry added a nice contrast. It was about $2 and some change for the large. I chose not to add a lid so I'd get extra, haha! Definitely get it! (And message me if you want to know where else you can get pineapple whip with soft serve!) We LOVED moku and although it's a bit of a drive for us, we will definitely be back! Stumbled on this place after an appointment nearby. Sounded good, so we tried it. We ordered a variety of things. The sweet corn is salty. Very salty. The kimchi isn't really kimchi, though is not bad (I actually don't like kimchi, but this was different). For the entrees, the Palehu chicken tastes like a grilled chicken. Good, but just chicken. No evidence of sauce or seasoning. The Mochiko chicken has different seasoning, and was the best thing we had. Much more flavorful than the Palehu. Overall, not blown away here. Service was friendly. This is definitely one of those bang-for-your buck places I like to eat at. I have a list of a few fast-casual restaurants that I visit regularly and Moku Hawaiian Grill is one of them. You get so much food for under $10. I first discovered Moku awhile back when Hawaiian Style Bakery had a pop-up here. They've been around for a couple years now. The owner of this place was born and raised in Oahu. And we are fortunate enough here in the Valley to get to enjoy the flavors from his home. Moku is located in a pretty good spot in Ahwatukee not too far from the I-10. For food, Moku serves Hawaiian cuisine over brown or white rice in a bowl or on a plate with sides. Food is ordered at the counter. They have Hawaiian favorites like Kalua pork, Pulehu, Katsu and Teriyaki chicken. I've been here a few times and the Kalua chicken is currently the front-runner for my favorite protein choice. It is so tasty. You can upgrade to premium meats like the popular Mochiko wings or Ahi Tuna. Sides include macaroni salad, kimchee slaw, edamame or sweet corn. It's seriously a lot of food and worth the $9 for a plate with two sides (check out my photos!) I always go home with extra. If you are a Disneyland junkie like me, you love getting a Dole Whip soft serve when visiting the Magic Kingdom. Well, Moku serves Dole Whip soft serve in a cup or a cone and it tastes just like Disney's version. I always do a strawberry pineapple swirl. They also have an assortment of Hawaiian Suns next to the ordering counter. It's the perfect refresher for a hot Arizona summer day. My family had an amazing dinner at Moku! Wish they would open a spot Tucson. But I would be there too often and my waistline can't take that. The service was friendly and quick. They patiently explained some of the styles of meat that i hadn't had yet. The prices were very reasonable. My wife and kids each got the kids meal, which came with one protein, a scoop of rice and one side. They were super satisfied and had room left for dole whip. I did the two meat, two scoops of rice, mac salad and kimchee slaw. I definitely didn't eat all the rice. We shared two Hawaii sun drinks, which was a great accompaniment.
