Omg! I cannot say enough about how amazing Happy Bellies is! I wish they weren't 4hrs away We detoured 30min out of our way on a road trip and I am so glad we did! They had so many options I was overwhelmed! Our server was very patient and kind when I clearly failed to realize the line only moved one direction but my indecisiveness had me going back and forth! Everything we bought was amazing, my non allergy husband even commented on how good the food was! The plan had been to freeze most of what we had purchased, due to a power outage at our final destination, we ended up eating all of the treats we bought Even after several days they still tasted great! Lovely bakery with a surprisingly large square footage. Everything is gluten-free, hence the happy bellies! From what I tried, most items had that "It's GF? You can tell" taste to them. The chocolate chip cookie was a little grainy. The donut and vanilla cupcake were very dense. Only the raw pumpkin cheesecake and the fudge cupcake had less of the obvious GF traces in taste. Delicious bakery with options for different dietary needs/preferences. I've only ever gotten their donuts, but they are very good. They are very dense, so keep that in mind you probably won't need to eat as many as donuts from say, Dunkin'. The staff has always been very helpful as we try to select donuts and check out. They have tables to eat there, and a cooler with some cold drinks to purchase to have with your donuts. They're a little pricier than other place; however, not surprising given they are more specialty donuts. They also have different flavors (I picked up a candy cane one the other day, very pepperminty and good!) Definitely a place to check out! read more

This place is amazing. I went head with my daughters. Since my one daughter has started eating gluten free because of allergies she has had to give up a lot of the things she normally was eating. My daughter found Happy Bellies and have been raving about it. I was a little lost at the ordering process at first, it's a busy place. But once you get the hang of things it's worth it. If you ONLY need gluten-free, this is a wonderful option since it is a dedicated gluten-free bakery and their baked goods are incredibly delicious. If you need to exclude other allergens, as well, BEWARE! While they have made efforts to have dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free options available, they were not diligent in helping us select items that were egg-free on a recent visit and my daughter got TERRIBLY sick. We walked in and clearly indicated we needed egg-free and nut-free items. The person helping us said all the blue and yellow tagged items were safe. Despite this, as an extra precaution, we then went through one-by-one with each item we picked confirming that each one was ok and we were told they were. At one point, the person even asked, "Do you have to avoid dairy, too, or just eggs?" (So we know she clearly knew we needed to avoid eggs.) We confirmed our allergies were just to eggs and nuts, not dairy. So, we happily left with 6 cupcakes and 3 doughnuts and, a bit later on our drive, we each ate a cupcake. Within minutes of finishing her cupcake, my 16-year-old daughter said her stomach hurt. As it got worse and worse over the next half hour, I called the bakery and they confirmed that the cupcake my daughter ate did, in fact, contain eggs. She endured 8 hours of vomiting and severe diarrhea all because someone wasn't careful to ensure they were giving us accurate information. I hate to imagine the even more severe outcome had this occurred with her allergies that are anaphylactic. Seriously so disappointed. They didn't even apologize on the phone. read more

Ohhhh the money I could spend and the weight I could gain coming here. This is a gluten-free bakery that uses locally-sourced ingredients. I had never had a gluten free option before and was leery when a friend brought us cupcakes from Happy Bellies. Oh me of little faith. After that first cupcake, I stopped in a few mornings later and bought a slice of cinnamon roll cake. AND MY FACE ALMOST MELTED FROM THE GOODNESS! I went in the next morning for another slice and then forced myself into restraint. I learned the hard way was that this shop is closed on Mondays. I've been living a mostly paleo, mostly gluten-free lifestyle since about 2009, so I was beyond thrilled to spot this place. Today's purchases: almond flour scones with raspberries and a zucchini almond flour brownie. The scones were very soft, not quite as much texture as a traditional wheat-flour scone. However they were delicious and not over-sweet which made me very happy. The brownie. . . aaahhhhhhhhh. It pretty much just tasted exactly how a brownie is supposed to taste and made me even more happy. It was very very rich, so I ate only a slice of it. I've been to multiple gf bakeries (portland, milwaukee, chicago, etc) and Happy Bellies is my favorite. When you think of a traditional cookie, muffin, treat, etc - Happy Bellies makes gf and vegan sweets taste better than gluten varieties. Akin to mom's cookies, rather then attempting to come off as overly gourmet, paleo, or in line with a trend - this place just has awesome treats. If you did want a paleo or "healthy" vegan/gf bakery - Blooming Lotus Bakery in Milwaukee is very good and refreshingly affordable. I do like their bakery very much - but Happy Bellies is my favorite. If I want a sweet treat I don't really care if it's paleo or no added sugar. read more

This bakery has a large variety of dessert foods, whether it be cinnamon rolls, different kinds of bars, cookies, donuts or cupcakes, they can all be found here. Personally, I tried the cupcakes and they were not as good as anticipated. I read the reviews and I decided this might be the best place to get cupcakes, and turns out it wasn't. The next day, I went to Rebecca's Sweets Boutique and purchased and consumed cupcakes that were five-times better than the ones I got from Happy Bellies.
