I was with 5 other people, but I was the only one who tried Happy Belly Truck, because admittedly, Happy Belly tends to skew on the healthy side with their salads, roasted Brussels sprouts and such I wasn't super hungry so I decided to get their Brussels for Muscles ($7), which are crispy brussel sprouts, covered with a Thai citrus chili sauce and cilantro. So here's the positives. The Thai Citrus chili sauce was REALLY good. I've never considered putting anything sweet on my sprouts before (and i'll happily steal that idea when i'm cooking). The quantity of the sprouts was decent as well. $7 decent? Well....no, but at least you get a number of bites before they're gone. Also positive is that they DO offer healthy alternatives that typically aren't offered at food truck events. In fact, I only went to Happy Belly because the prior food truck before Happy Belly was a heavy dish and I wanted something lighter. Not so positive The brussel sprouts were not crispy at all. Not one single crispy leaf. Maybe it was because they were precooked (I gave my money and they immediately gave me sprouts) but I have had better. I DO like the idea of Happy Belly, but the prices are a little higher than i'd like, and the crispy sprouts weren't really crispy. Maybe i'll be try them again and update my review. For now it's just okay, but tell me what you think!

Ninja Smoke Sandwich and Kale Waldorf Salad.

Just as I was about to lose faith in the whole food truck trend, Happy Belly comes into my life! It's without a doubt the best one I've experienced thus far. It was on my radar because a friend mentioned that he had recently begun employment with Happy Belly and that he was really quite impressed with their quality of ingredients; and after eating the food, I have to say I'm in complete agreement. I ordered the 'Ninja Smoke' sandwich (smoked pork in a hoisin-honey BBQ sauce, topped with ponzu slaw on H&F buns) and the Kale Waldorf Salad (kale, blue cheese, apples, applewood bacon, golden raisins) - needless to say (especially with those descriptions), they were both delicious. DELICIOUS. I truly was surprised by just how much I enjoyed both dishes. The smoked pork was so flavorful, so tender - it was borderline perfect, and the salad was probably one of the best salads I've ever had. Every aspect of it worked deliciously together and if you managed to get it all in one bite...just yum, the perfect bite. I found the menu to be pretty affordable, especially I'm comparison to other food trucks - the entrees range from $8-$10, the sides are around $5, the menu also includes a "Kids" section (quotations because the offerings sound good to me!), and all those items are just under $6. It's just icing on the cake that most of their ingredients are organic and locally sourced - they've even dubbed themselves a "food to street" food truck.

Parked at Alpharetta's Vintage Corks & Gourmet Trucks event.

Happy Belly is one of the food trucks that rolled into Alpharetta for the Vintage Corks & Gourmet Trucks event. Unfortunately, by the time we placed our order they had sold out of the special "sample" dish for the wine pairing. That's a shame because it sounded really tasty; a pumpkin risotto or somesuch thing. This might have been a mixed blessing, however, because it necessitated that we order off the standard menu. So we got a better feeling for what the typical Happy Belly experience is like outside of a special event. This truck promotes itself as "farm to street" which is clever. They mostly use organic, locally sourced ingredients. I really like this concept because ordering something that originated from local farms makes me feel better about the quality of ingredients and about supporting local business owners. I ordered The Urban Caveman which is a fairly simple dish consisting of butternut squash and free-range chicken. Very seasonal and fresh. It's one of those dishes that shines in its simplicity and allows the quality ingredients to really stand on their own merit. Honestly it is the polar opposite of the kind of food you would typically expect from a truck. In this case that's a good thing. Instead of making customers shout an order up into a window, one of the staff members stood outside the truck and took orders. I like this ordering system because it was more efficient and personable than trying to communicate with someone inside the vehicle. It was definitely the best customer service experience from all of the trucks I visited during the event. Prices for entrees range between $8-$10. This seems a bit steep at first blush but considering the high quality, locally sourced ingredients, I think it's reasonable. If given the opportunity I would order from Happy Belly again.

Kipper salmon salad and fries, delicious!!

It's on the expensive side for food trucks, but it's totally worth it! I got the One for the Kipper (without the bacon) and was worried about it not being hearty enough for me, but it was a TON of salmon and the kale was great with all the accompaniments. And I got the fries, which was also a large portion and had a unique, delicious seasoning on top. I definitely suggest it!

A fantastic truck to visit if you can. Check his FB and Twitter for a schedule of locations. I had the Georgian burger and it was very good. The Mac n Cheese which is made with Gouda was also very tasty.

It's held at Taylor-Brawner Park off Atlanta Rd, which is a great location to spread out, have a mini picnic, and enjoy! The ambiance is family, community, and definitely giving summer! There's a playground for the kids, live music by local performers, and there are bathrooms with changing tables if you have littles that require them. It does get hot since this is Atlanta in the summer so prepare accordingly. The food trucks are mostly a variety yet there have been times when some of the trucks offered the same types of food (fries, tenders, burgers/sandwiches) which can be a buzz kill, so I would recommend going on the City of Smyrna government page on Facebook to see which trucks would be in attendance that day to avoid disappointment. There are some trucks that are there each Tuesday with the King of Pops being one of them. And they have vegetarian and vegan options as well. Ding ding! Most of the vendors accept cards so having a mix of cash and cards is better but not required. Again, I love it and so does my family since there's something for everyone to enjoy! Attend, you won't be disappointed!

I arrived around 6:45pm and had no problem finding parking. The event is well organized and there are staff that direct you to open parking spaces. You know this is not in the city because there is no fee to park!! You heard me correctly-- FREE PARKING!! The crowd was a great mix, families with kids, couples, friends and tons of fur babies! There is not really any specific organized activity, but be creative. Some people had hammocks set up, balls to play kick ball with and some were just sitting or standing around talking. It's all about what you make it There were a ton of food truck options. I was overwhelmed, but did finally decided to try the Blaxican Food truck. I ordered the collard green quesadilla. The greens were seasoned with turkey meat and had a hint of spiciness to them. I enjoyed every bite of my order! I also had the infamous sesame fries from another truck. I can't recall the name of that truck, but if you see sesame fries on the menu order them. They are only $4.00 and will worth each dollar! Of course I had to have desert. I tried the praline pecan pie from the New Orleans themed truck! Oh my gosh, it is divine!!! If you are up for being around people, eating good, enjoying the beautiful weather, this is the spot to go on a Tuesday evening!

We were greeted immediately upon walking in and there were so many people I was nervous we weren't going to be able to eat there, but looks were deceiving and there were more tables in the back. We sat outside on a cool day and they had heaters going. Our server was super nice for our first time and brought fresh salsa and chips. I ordered a trio of tacos so I could try a few, the tacos were phenomenal. The meat was seasoned well and plentiful in the taco. I wanted to like the chimichurri taco more, but like some others have mentioned the meat was a bit big when trying to get a bite. We needed to leave to get to the venue and once mentioning our time crunch the server pointed us in the best direction and let us out the back door. My only complaint is they aren't always so easy to find (btw, not worth docking them a star for this). Fatty (and wife) are like the Rogers and Hammerstein of food trucks. Their food is like a 3-act play and it's full of wonderful tunes along the way. Let's start with the opener: Act 1 - Potato Knish: This can best be described as a mashed potato turnover. They can be large, small, round, square...the ultimate Jewish snack food. You can get it with spinach and cheese or pepperoni for extra, but why mess with a classic. I like mine with a little salt and sauce (mustard works for me, but there is also Fatty's special spicy sauce). Yummmmmm. You cannot go wrong here. Fried taters. Yes please. Act 2 - The Dogs: Okay, I could go on and on here and they all have names and things that come on them, but I will tell you what I have had and I loved them both (and please don't ask me for names). A dog with peppers and onions (OMG, to die for) and a dog with mustard and slaw on top. Their slaw is creamy and crunchy - two things slaw should always be. Their dogs are all-beef Sabrett hot dogs and juicy and delicious. And Act 3 - Cannolis: Traditional cannolis with the chocolate chips dipped on the ends. Fabulous crunchy shell, not too sweet, but sweet enough to let you know this is the final act to your kick ass food truck indulgence. As they say - go big or go home. Fatty's doesn't skimp, so you definitely get your money's worth. Look for they around town and get yourself a full 3-act meal and you will not be sorry...but you might be full.

The proprietor John is the real deal--he's been slinging out dirty water dogs since he was a young man in New York. He definitely knows how to dress up a delicious dog. I've had several of the menu items over two separate visits and highly recommend all of the dogs and sides that I've sampled. Fatty's Tex-Mex ($6): Quarter pound Sabrett all-beef dog with lettuce, onions, cheddar, black bean & corn salsa, chipotle cream. This one definitely has a southwestern flare that really compliments the beef hot dog's distinctive flavor. It's not really very spicy at all. "Da Bronx" ($6): Two all-beef Sabrett hot dogs with spicy mustard and Sabrett onion sauce. This one sound simple but it actually packs a wallop. The onion sauce has a nice zing that compliments the mustard. Potato Knishes ($4): Potato pancakes. Before Fatty's I had never tried a knish, so I can't speak to their authenticity; but they sure are tasty! You can add either pepperoni & cheese or spinach & cheese for $2. Cannoli ($4): Traditional cannolis with chocolate chips. These things taste way better than any other dessert I've tried from a food truck. Fantastic crunchy shell, decadent but not overly sweet. Get one with your meal. It's worthwhile, trust me. It seems like Fatty's spends many Saturdays at a Petsmart, and otherwise travels around to various office parks during the week and local festivals on the weekends. Try checking out their FB page or Twitter account to see where they'll be next. And be sure to come hungry--they don't skimp on the portion sizes!
