I have two cars that are over 20 years old (that have been well maintained) and for the last few years I only take them to Alex. He's been in business since 2008. If you're having a problem with a check engine light he'll consult with you about what is most likely causing your car to fail the emissions test. He is very accommodating and really cares about your car passing the GA emissions test. If you have a check engine light on don't wait until the last minute. Take your car to Alex a couple of months before your car's next registration is due. You'll be glad you did. I've been taking my cars there since they opened about 10 years ago. Alex, the owner, was always very pleasant. A couple of years ago a young guy started working there. In my pinion, he seemed a little grumpy, but whatever. I have two cars that need emissions testing. Took one car there yesterday at 8:15am on my way to work. I pulled up to the entrance to the service bay, and could see the young attendant through the office window, looking down for a full minute before he finally glanced up and noticed me - no big deal, he came out and conducted the emissions test and I was on my way. This morning I took my second car there at 8:15, again on my way to work. Once again I pulled up to the entrance the service bay and waited while I watched the same young attendant looking down. This time, after 2 full minutes of waiting for him to look up, I gave my car horn a dump to get his attention (there's no hose or bell to otherwise alert the attendant). He was clearly startled as he looked up, but he returned to looking down for another 10-15 seconds, slowly rose to his feet, and stood there while he tapped on the phone keyboard - I suspect to demonstrate to me that he moves at his own pace, not mine. When he exited the office, he slammed the door so hard it shook the office structure. He moved the traffic cone and motioned me to pull into the bay, clearly irritated, squinting and blinking as though I woke him up from the deepest, hardest sleep. I pulled into the bay and put the car in park as instructed. When I rolled the window down, I asked him if he was mad because I honked to get his attention. He angrily replied, "Yea. I don't like people honking at me." At hat point, I decided to leave and told him so, as I put the car in drive. He quickly responded, "Get out of here [followed by a nice F-bomb]!" which I did, determined that I will never give them my business again. read more

I had THE WORST experience ever with the young attendant that I have never seen before. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I felt threatened and when I tried to leave calmly things became more HOSTILE. I sent the below message to the owner directly on 11-14-25, I guess it was not important to them... I NEVER got a response. So this PUBLIC NEGATIVE REVIEW on all social venues, could also have been avoided. Please do not stay for a test if the (bushy) black haired, white, young man is there. He promotes hostility, is rude, curses, and has zero customer service skills. STAY AWAY! Email sent to owner 11-14 and ignored.... below. I wish I could rate a negative one. Because I will never go back to this place after being a loyal customer since the month they opened this location. First time I've seen the young man who was manning the booth. It was about 3:20 in the afternoon on a Friday and there was a cone blocking the drive, so I patiently waited (all of this is caught on camera. I'm sure) but keep reading... The young man who I've never seen there before finally came out, moved the cone, motioned me to drive forward. as I was driving forward, I looked down at my odometer , and then I hear him scream something about " "f" ing directions". So, I look up and he's pointing to the right. I pull to the right. He comes up to the vehicle and I ask him; did he say something to me. He ignored me the first time so, I asked again because I know what I heard... and he said, "be quiet. I'm trying to read your vin number." Hmmmm? Wait a minute.... No good afternoon? no hi ? just a deliberate and intentional rudeness, with a tone of hostility. At that moment, I felt a bit uncomfortable. I replied, "Excuse me, I know you said something to me about directions, and now that you have just smart-mouthed me about the Vin number while I was trying to speak with you, I think I will go somewhere else ." I felt an immediate threat to my safety being a single, 60+ year old, female. If I stayed I felt at this point he was so angry about something that my safety was in danger, or he would do something to damage my vehicle. As I pulled forward, he screamed at me to "get out and don't ever come back" . I said, " no problem man", and I continued pulling forward. He gave me his middle finger. I said " f*** y** too." Then drove out of the driveway. The only way out was to drive around and pass the front entrance. The attendant runs from the back to the front and flips out on me... f'ing me., screaming " don't ever come back and calling me all kinds of rude and obscene adjectives. This went on for a while. I had my phone out to call the police in the event he had gotten any closer while I was trying to leave the premises calmly. ( he could have just stayed in his little office or even in the garage area, but he chose to chase me. And, this is even more evidence of his aggression and hostility towards me.) I hope that the owners get a copy of this, Because if you don't get rid of this guy , you're going to lose all your customers. I have lived in this community for 25+ years and I am a prominent citizen in the area. Now I am on a campaign to shut his foul mouth. It is unfortunate that your business will suffer for him. Sadly, he is telling your loyal customers to "never come back" , without any cause or provocation. He was a very angry young man from the moment he came out of the office area. It is disappointing that you hired such a customer service failure as he was disrespectful, unprofessional , unhelpful, verbally obscene, hostile and aggressive, to represent your business of service. I appreciate the extra time care and consideration that was given especially because it can be extremely frustrating when you do not initially pass emissions. I've been going to the nice old man at the Shell station at Kimball Bridge and 120 for years but, oy, all this sneezing and coughing--I didn't feel like driving a single extra mile. I'll admit I sat in front of the gas station rather confounded as my GPS said I was there and it was BEHIND the gas station [depending on which way you come in]. It's that time of year again! You know what I'm talking about, right? You have to go pay some former prisoner who is already a few wanks short of an orgasm that works in a hastily thrown together shack twenty bucks to get your car's emissions checked. In my house, we affectionately refer to this as the Annual BOHICA Fee to renew your tags. (By the way, BOHICA stands for "bend over, here it comes again!") I dread this every year because, one, I think it is a complete racket and two, I don't like having to deal with the people that run these places because they are always pushing the "tip jar" in your face and saying, "I sure would appreciate a tip for my troubles if you could spare it." Uh, you typed in a few keystrokes on a keyboard, scanned the bar code on my door jam to get the VIN (guess manual input was too difficult for you), and screwed my gas cap onto some mechanism to ensure proper pressure. That's it! And you want a tip?! Puhleeze! Well, given that I don't live in Alpharetta (only work here), when I need to find something in the area I rely on my colleagues who actually can name all of the "ferrys" and "bridges" up here like they're saying their ABCs. Today I found Happy Birthday Emissions and man was I in for a surprise! It was a nice brick building that I later found out is owned by the same guy that does your inspection. The inside is clean and painted and well maintained. "Alexander" asked me to get out of my car and even had a small waiting room (primitive no doubt, but in the cold winter months could you really care?) that was heated so that I wouldn't be cold. Alexander told me that he's been in business since January and built this building and owns the land underneath because he wanted to start a business and show some commitment to the area. I was in/out in less than 12 minutes and as I was leaving, he even wishes me a Happy Birthday (which isn't until later this month, by the way)! You aren't going to get that from your friendly ex-con inspector, right? Yeah, I know that Alpharetta isn't considered "civilization" to most people out there and I wouldn't argue. But if you either live in this area or are up here for work and you need to get your car inspected, stop by Happy Birthday Emissions and see for yourself how good this experience was! read more

As a female, getting emissions testing done on your car can sometimes feel like wandering down a dark alley with potential creepers/scary people waiting in the shadows and leering at you. So i read the previous Yelp review for this place and decided to take the new car there. Happy to say I agree with Mel G. completely! There was no crazy ex-con in a hastily built shack! On the contrary, the owner was the one administering the test. He knew just from reading the VIN what year my car was, and predicted (accurately) the reason it would fail before he even put it on the dyno. He also informed me that the guy who had just sold me the car was actually responsible for giving me a valid emission certificate at time of sale. Apparently, in our lovely state of Ga, I can now hold the seller financially responsible for my fees and repair costs, and if he doesn't want to pay them, then the state goes after him! (How did I not know this??!!) So anyways, I get a free re-test after I get the old girl fixed, and Mr. Owner gave me a ton of good tips to help her pass, as well. Have been going to Happy Birthday Emissions for years and have taken all of our family cars. Located on the corner of Old Alabama and Nesbit, Alexander is a friendly dude with some foreign "Russian" or Belarus accent. Very polite and very efficient. You don't need to exit your vehicle...at least we have not had to for the later models. Used to only take cash but now they take credit cards for convenience. The whole process is under 10 minutes if no one else is ahead of you in line. I was even able to test his knowledge a little as I have a background as an auto mechanic and he proved by the conversation that he knows his stuff. I don't normally write reviews but this time I need to. I have been taking both my cars to Happy Birthday's emissions for the last couple of years, with great success but this year I drove my Camry in for the yearly check and bam! he hooked up the to the cars computer and the engine light came on and the engine stalled. I was asked if I had recently reset the computer, disconnected the battery, the answer was no to all of his questions. The car failed the inspection! The car was fine until he hooked it up to his computer. I had lots of problems for 10 or 15 minutes, the car kept wanting to stall every time I came to a stop. After driving around for 30 minutes the car was again OK. Without every admitting it might have been his issue, he basically said to drive the car a week or two and bring it back in. DO you think this has ever happen at his inspection station before? I easy to say that he has lost my business read more
