My red cardigan sweater which was $200. First they said it got shipped to a different location and I had to wait an extra week to get it back. Then I discovered it was shrunk. Later, I asked them to stitch-mend a piece by DianeVon Furstenberg. The old man sat across the room , yelled at me. "No, you buy another one!" WTF. I'm bringing you business and you don't want a paying customer? I was willing to overlook the first atrocious incident dealing with these people. I don't know if it's a cultural issue or what? The grumpy old Asian man displays zero tact, decorum, respect or dignity to his customers. This is a matter I cannot overlook. Unfortunately I will not be bringing them any more business in the future. Seldom have I been treated in a less professional manner. I don't know how they manage to stay in business while treating the public so shabbily. read more

My friend came over to NY for a wedding, and needed to tailor her dress ASAP. She went to the tailors in CA before to get her dress to be tighter, but it was too tight and she needed some loose air on top. So, I figured we would walk around the garment district and just pop into a random store. This was the store we popped into, and there wasn't really anybody there. She told the two guys in front her issue, they asked if the previous tailoring place left extra fabric, but they didn't (or maybe they did, unsure). She tried the dress on and they knew exactly what to do. They said to come back by 6pm (they close at 7pm) and we arrived around 1/2pm btw. So in 4 hours, we came back and the dress was tailored perfectly. She tried it on and it was great. The guys who tailored it smiled in satisfaction, as they knew they did their job well. It was pretty pricey to just loosen up the top part of the tube dress ($30), but yes it was done in 4 hours. We felt that we should've bartered but in the heat of the moment, we just didn't. They have a lot of wholesale items btw, and a little rack of random samples that you can purchase (mostly summer wear). All in all, the job was done, it was pricey, and the vibe was satisfactory. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! Sent my $600 designer shirt that's mostly white - the shirt wasn't even dirty I just sent it right after wearing it in the summer to prevent yellowish stain of sweat. When I received it there were multiple black stains on the shoulder straps! Looks like it could be from a dirty hanger or a pen mark. I ended up having to spot clean those dirty marks myself for half an hour. W-T-F. They sent you back dirty clothes and pretend nothing happened. What a scam. I brought a dress here to wear on our honeymoon. It was very delicate and needed hemming. They did a fabulous job on both the dress and the tux. My one warning is the cost! I have been coming to Happy Cleaners for 4 years. They always open on time and are even open a little past their official closing time. Their turnaround time for clothing is also very timely. If you hand in clothing before 8:30am, they can return your clothing by the end of day (depending on how many articles of clothing/how much work needs to be done). As many of their customers, I work in a corporate setting where you have to look your best. I have had the following tailored here: Shirts, Suits, Dress slacks, Blazers and even Shorts, Jeans. They can bring in the sides of your baggy dress shirts. Tailor your suits and blazers to have a more couture look. Tighten the width of your pant legs/hem the bottoms. Bring in the waist of your shorts, or even loosen them, etc. I even had my window drapes hemmed here! There is nothing that they cannot tailor or adjust. Its simply amazing and the price is affordable. The quality of items dry cleaned is also great. All done off-site but if I was to notice a stain is not fully removed, they will return it and try their best to remove it. They are very patient and always want to make sure I am happy with my returned clothing. As I live down the street, I rarely have them deliver clothing. From my experience, they have always delivered on-time. I highly suggest you check this place out, they're great. read more

Great quality tailoring and the nicest people! Brought my chiffon bridesmaid dress here back in May, had to shorten it to floor length and take it in at the waist/bust area. The nice older gentleman had me try on the dress with the shoes I would be wearing, and he pinned it gently and meticulously. They said it would be ready for pickup within a week (even though I wasn't in a hurry), and they were true to their word - I came back a week later and it was ready. The quality of the tailoring was perfection. I couldn't even tell that the dress had been altered; it was as if I had bought it that way. The dress had a few layers to it as it was long and flowy, and the bust/waist area had layers of chiffon with a corset like bodice. I have a wedding coming up in September and need to chop the dress for that as well - will definitely come back here! read more

I came here to get some alterations done because it's close-ish to my job. I needed some hems re-sewn because sometimes I like to go out after work and drop it like it's hot... and my sheath dresses do not play along! The work was nice quality, and the prices were much cheaper than I was expecting. I had one dress seam re-sewn where it split, and a skirt hem re-sewn when it fell out. To do both pieces was $17. I think it took the guy 3 days to complete (but then Hurricane Sandy hit so I was late picking up!). Happy Cleaners also does laundry and dry cleaning. Not sure what those services are like, but I definitely recommend them for cheap, quick alterations. read more

Very disappointed, not going back. I live in the neighborhood. I'd been to Happy Cleaners a few times for minor alterations and had had a reasonable experience until this afternoon when I picked up a pair of linen trousers. They had replaced a tiny stain on the leg with such a large stark swath of pink discoloration that I would rather not have gone to them in the first place. I guess this sort of thing happens every now and then, but what really surprised me was that (1) they instantly accused me of having made the new stain, and (2) they refused to state the name of the stout elderly woman who made the accusation. Cowardly behavior. I understand that dry cleaners sometimes get themselves into problems that they can't solve, but the way they reacted was both unnecessary and disrespectful. read more

I live down the block and even though a new dry cleaning/tailoring place just opened up downstairs (like 2 feet away), I still go to Happy Cleaners because the little old man that takes my orders is sooo adorable! He's the Keebler elf of tailoring! He always does a good job especially since I am ridiculously clumsy and brings random problems to him to fix! I just took a silk blouse with a rip/hole in the seam that magically appeared and a pencil skirt where the bottom hem just refuses to stay tucked under. He fixed both of them for $12! He's also had to get rid of soondubu (bright ass red korean stew) along with random highlighter/pen marks. They usually over-estimate the time it takes for them to finish cleaning/tailoring it by about a day or so. Also, they're really nice (aka no judgment) about delivering it to my apartment...even though I live on the same street! read more

I started going to this cleaner/tailor when I worked nearby and I love it so much that I know hike there from 14 blocks away dragging my clothes because it's simply the best. My dry cleaning is always perfect and the tailoring is amazing. I had a winter coat with a completely ruined lining and a fallen out zipper. He fixed it better than new and it cost me about $25. Don't be put off my the appearance, the service is stellar and my clothes always come back perfect. Highly recommend. read more

When I found out they lost my shirt, they keep on replying me they might have it somewhere, asked me to wait. And NEVER call back for any update !!! Happy Cleaners ruined my custom African print skirt with a dye transfer issue. After sending it back it the dye transfer did not come out and they in fact tried to blame me, avoid any responsibility and I had to demand a refund. Please avoid at all costs for any dry cleaning for speciality items specifically. I cannot speak to their tailoring services! read more

Amazing, excellent tailoring. I've shopped around NYC for a good tailor, some quoting me $100+ (more than what my dress is worth!) to take it in a bit at the waist and the shoulder area. I read some reviews about Happy Cleaners and decided to give it a try. I've trusted the owner with my Theory shift dress (great work done here) and a Club Monaco dress recently (also fantastic. Took it in slightly just as I asked, plus helped me with the extra material in the back by bringing the material in with two seams, work is very well done and I think he drastically improved the overall fit of the dress and therefore the design). I've never gotten anything dry cleaned here, but I suspect I will start using all their offered services. Bottom line: Quality tailoring for a great price. Hems cost ~$20, FYI. read more

Been going here for about a year now. Really not happy with the service for a few reasons. 1) Your clothes will never be back on time. I frequently ask them when I will have my clothes back and they will give me a date and time and I recieve my clothes back a day and a half later. 2) Got into work today and there is a huge black stain on a shirt that I just got back from the cleaners. This is the second time this has happened. 3) My clothes were delayed by about 2 days so I called to ask what happened and apparently my pants needed more time at the cleaners. They only told me this after I called. Take your clothes somewhere else. This place is terrible. read more

Most of the time they never got the pieces cleaned.I asked them to come back and pick up my garments and try again. They said they will not and they do not want to work with me anymore because I'm a problem. Well if you did your job right the first time there would not be a problem. I had a dress that needed to be taken in a good 3-4 inches. Most tailors would have scoffed at the task calling it impossible, or charged $100 to do a shoddy job. Not the old asian man here though! He asked me to wear the dress so he could see exactly what was the issue with the fit. Also used pins to show me how much could realistically be taken in. I walked in very skeptical, but left trusting that I would have a somewhat wearable dress. And I was disappointed either - he did a great job and charged so little compared to what I was expecting. I also had a few other items with tears - all of it was impeccably done. This is definitely my go-to tailor from here on! read more

I used them to alter my dress for my sister's wedding. They did an awesome job shortening the 50's style circle skirt and taking in the sides. The dress was ready when they said it would be. Win win! WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS DRY CLEANERS!! This is by far the worst service I have ever received. I dropped off a specific amount of items which I and my coworkers personally counted as well as the cashier when we dropped them off. Not only did they lose some of our items but they wouldn't accept the blame or even apologize for losing these items, in fact they were rude about it. When I asked to speak with the manager he was extremely unprofessional and refused to compensate us at all (the value of the items they lost was over $130.00). My advice, don't use this business. They need to "CLEAN" up their act if you ask me. read more

Had a terrible experience here. We used Happy Cleaners & Tailors to dry clean items. We dropped off all of our items in full and when we picked up 3 were missing. Unfortunately these were branded items that cost $40 plus dollars PER item. Happy Cleaners & Tailors refused to take any blame and did not apologize once even after three phone calls and two trips to the store! I suggest using a different dry cleaner if you want good customer service and all of your items returned! My advice to the establishment; if you want your customers to be HAPPY you should probably CLEAN up your act & re-TAILOR your manners. read more

Decent prices but the quality was poor. I brought in two suit jackets to get fitted. The result of one was ok but the other was awful. The tailor did not fix what was requested and then he spent five minutes arguing about the fix. He ended up doing it begrudgingly and the result was a terrible fit. It was extremely difficult to talk to the tailor because he didn't speak English very well and no one was there to help translate. I ended up having to take the jacket to another tailor who fixed some of the problems but most of the damage was already done by the Happy Cleaners tailor. read more

Oh my god. What a joke. This place only wants to do shirts and easy suits. Don't you DARE to ask them to work on a stain! Heaven !forbid! That you ask them to actually clean something. We've tried using them repeatedly over the years being located conveniently in the garment district. One would think because of their proximity to this district they'd have it figured out. Just another new york business who could care less about doing a quality job because they know there is another customer right behind with an easier job to do. They have burnt several dresses which were a silk blend by using the wrong chemicals and then they have repeatedly set old stains even worse by heat pressing the garments to make it look like they've done something when they couldn't get the stain out. What a genius idea! If you can't clean it why not make it more permanent! Even after the hundreds of dollars of destroyed clothing they've given back to us we still gave them a chance with the simplest stuff and now they're refusing it. I'm not saying cleaning clothes is the most fun but if you hate it so much then go start another business. read more

Sent 6 shirts to clean there, only 5 came back. When I asked them about it, they became aggressive and said I could not prove that the sixth shirt was sent. They did not try to look for my shirt at all. I also had problems with them over-charging on some items before this experience. They also never removed stains from anything, and several times they ironed shirts improperly leaving wrinkles on. Never again. read more
