Screenshot of my exchange with the owner. The last text is ridiculous.

I've never written a Yelp review before, but I have had quite a negative experience with Laundry 23 recently. I had been using them on and off for their premium "well-heeled" wash and fold service for the past year or so. This tier is supposed to follow washing instructions on each article and handled with care is what they claim. Most of the time, I had no problems with them, and when I did have issues, I chalked them up to minor miscommunication mishaps since the owner seemed to be a non-native English speaker. I have a soft spot for small business owners. My past issues are consistent with some of the negative reviews already posted (e.g. store decided to dry clean instead of wash & fold and charging me extra). This time, however, the issue is that I sent out my laundry that included a machine-washable white couch cover and that couch cover came back to me with massive black stains. I contacted Laundry23 and requested that they fix the stains. They did pick it back up and the owner told me he washed it five times and sent it back. I was traveling, so I checked the cover a few days later upon returning. The stains (that THEY caused) were still too visible to ignore, which is what prompted my text in the screenshot. The owner's responses are highly unprofessional, unapologetic, and aggressive as you can see in the picture. I'm not a business owner, but the first thing I would do if one of my staff ruined a customer's item would be to apologize and to attempt rectifying the damage (or compensating for the damage). Instead, the owner tells me to wash it myself. He also refused to provide a refund. Basically, most of the time, you won't have a problem but when you do... the owner is beyond rude and unprofessional. Very unpleasant to deal with and quite unreasonable. Mistakes happen, but at least take own up to it as a business owner. That's just basic courtesy.

Use it to get your regular laundry cleaned and folder AVOID at all cost any dry cleaning services for delicate and/or costly clothes. They destroyed a $150 t shirt and offered to pay me back only the $9 service fee, they were rude and told me to go to complaint to the company that makes the shirts because it was not their fault. If you have been through this would recommend file a complaint at https://portal.311.nyc.gov/

DO NOT GO HERE. These people are frauds. I had been using laundry project consistently twice a month for 4 months until they took most of my wash & fold order, dry cleaned it (without my permission or my acknowledgement), and charged me $180.00. When I showed them that I did not order dry cleaning and only ordered wash & fold, they wouldn't listen or be reasonable. Instead the owner YELLED at me, took my clothes away from me, and told me, "you either pay 180.00 or you don't get your clothes." I once again showed proof of my order (screen shot below) and asked for him to show me where they got a dry cleaning order, and he couldn't show me any evidence or even properly explain why they dry cleaned half of my clothes that definitely did not need dry cleaned.... Unfortunately, I needed my clothes that day so I had to pay the money, but now I am taking them to court for theft and mis charging me. On top of everything, they fucking dry cleaned my 10 year old Ohio state T-shirt (picture below) AND the dry cleaned clothes STILL STINK AND HAVE STAINS ON THEM ....if this doesn't say this place is a farce...idk what will.

A little pricey but very nice, fast, and quality laundering. I have used them a couple times and am happy with the service.

Unfortunately I had a very poor experience here and will not be back…read more For starters you have to enter a fabric shop and descend the stairs in the back of the shop to get to where they do the alterations. The place to change was simply a thin black fabric sheet that was nearly see through strung up next to the water heater/furnace. Needless to say this made me very weary of changing knowing there were many men in the shop just on the other side of the curtain. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed to be hemmed and brought it in without bothering to bring the high heels I intended to wear with it because I was experiencing some foot swelling and they wouldn't have fit my foot at the time to begin with. I immediately addressed this with the person marking the dress and told them my heels were about 4 inches high so to please add on an additional 3- 3 1/2 inches to the height indicated so the dress would still be floor length when I wear the heels. The communication between myself and the person marking the dress was extremely clear and there were even written notes indicating the extra length to be kept on the dress. I was surprised by the price for the hemming, but they justified the dress was 3 layers and I had to pay prior to them doing the work and they even asked for a tip upfront too! I left the shop confident everything would turn out as expected, as I assumed the high price would guarantee a job well done. Within a week the dress was ready for pickup and I check the seems before leaving, but do not bother trying on the dress as I trusted they did exactly as we had agreed upon. The seems did not look very nice to me, a touch sloppy and wasn't completely straight, but at the end of the day I knew no one else would be looking closely so I accepted the dress and left. I tried on the dress at home only to find out it was even shorter than where the markings were during the fitting! Even flat-footed without any shoes on, the dress did not touch the ground. It was a disaster once I put my intended high heels on and it was the equivalent of high-waters but with a dress. In a panic I text or email them and even provide photos. They say I could bring it back, but by that point I only had a few days before the wedding and even if they let out the seems, one inch of fabric was not enough when it was missing at least 3 inches! They did go so far as to offering to purchase me another dress and to redo the hemming which I do think was above and beyond in attempting to make it right, but the dress was a special order color and there was no way to get another one in time. I finally spoke to the bride who just didn't want to risk the dress getting more messed up and asked to keep it as-is and the final resolution I received from the business was just a vague offer to discount a future service, no offer to even partially refund me for the poor work that had already been paid for. I ended up having to wear some much lower shoes and just bend my legs a bit in the photos so my dress looked the same length as the other bridesmaids. Overall my experience here was poor and I wouldn't want to risk another special occasion garment coming out not as expected. With so many other shops offering alterations in the area for a similar or cheaper price point I would choose another place.

Went here a few months ago to get some suits tailored. Tailor job was good, but the service was…read moresome of the worst I've ever experienced and that alone is enough to make sure I never go back. When I dropped my things off, I was told it would be ready and given a range of days to pick it up. I went by the last day in the pickup range, and not everything was ready yet. I grabbed the stuff that was and asked when my last article would be ready. They again gave me a pickup date. I came by on the second pickup date and the suit was still not ready. I was never notified that the timeframe had changed or anything, they just let me show up and wasted my time twice in a row.
