The food was good but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the cleanliness of this restaurant was disgusting[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a bucket of water in the dining area which they used to clean the tables.we observed the waitress wipe up split food off of the carpet and cleaned the rag in that bucket of water which now filthy and then went on cleaning a table with the same dirty water and rag.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We won't be back. read more

Recently moved nearby and came in for a couple plates for my fiance and I. I ended up leaving empty handed, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked in and it's a small cozy place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], I tried explaining to the man behind the booth what I wanted to order and HE JUST STOOD THERE STARING AT ME. Didn't take my order and didn't try to help me he just stood there staring at me in silence. Really disappointed because it's one of the few places nearby and we love Chinese food. read more

Always great Chinese restaurant and happy day they are super unfortunately I like them a lot better than Sakura Sushi. Sakura Sushi has great sushi and Japanese food but their Chinese is as good as happy day. Maybe they'll get better at it one day. read more

Ive been going to Camp De Sabla since i was a little kid. Every year we would visit Happy Day to wait for check in. Until recently, I had not been up since the Paradise fire. Ive been home almost a week now, and I am still sitting on my couch craving their potstickers. I am very seriously considering a 4 hour drive, round trip, to get them. We have tried all three family meals, and "C" was by far the best offer- lots of food and good flavors. "B" was very spicy, and "A" was pedestrian. Food has improved in recent years. We ordered walnut shrimp, lemon chicken, mu shu pork & house chow mein. Mu shu was a little disappointing but the rest was outstanding. Service was very good as well. read more

Pretty good Chinese food! They were on time for pickup with given eta of 15 min. Food was good overall: 4/5 Hot and sour soup was good (spicy) , but it's vegetarian. Lots of great stuff in it though (bamboo, egg, tofu, mushrooms). Flavor on point! 4/5 Mongolian beef (pieces of beef were small but tasty)- spicy 3/5 Sweet and sour pork - good sauce but the meat was a bit dry and tough to chew 4/5 Walnut prawns- very good flavor but I wish the batter was crispier 5/5- house fried rice- very good! I am a vegan, so I had the Spicy Salted Tofu and it was good. I would eat it again for sure! I went to the restaurant with non vegans, their food looked tasty and they said they liked it. They had the Sizzling Rice Soup and the Chicken Chow Mein. The ambiance was peaceful, it felt like private service because no other customers were in there at that time. read more

Best tasting Chinese food anywhere near Paradise and Chico. There is better in Sacramento, but you won't find any better out in these parts. Kungpao tastes like it's supposed to, egg drop soup it's like they made it instead of buying it pre-made, good fried stuff. Also the value is good, unsurprising that this place is popular for takeout. read more

The food is delicious with generous portions. It's a small business with 2-3 employees so don't expect fast service, but they are kind. It is decorated cute, and the back seating has a nice view. read more

I have been ordering meals from Happy Day since it's opened. Going inside is sometimes nice and other times you're hot or cold. Food has not been consistent. Today I ordered a veggie chow mein, sweet sour pork and curry chicken that is to be spicy. We did not get the sauce for the pork. Everything was so bland and boring. I called the resturarnt and let them know of my disfactactication and I only received remarks that nothing has change. The food was eatable but BORING not flavor. This has been happening for the past few years. Who ever is cooking is not consistent. I gave 2 stars since once tasty not great but OK and now boring. read more

We had the A family dinner for two last night. The meals were resdy right on time and very plentiful, enough for two nights and was still hot when I got it home to Paradise. The soup was delicious as well as the sweet and sour pork and almond chicken. The egg rolls were also very good. The chow mein. unfortunately lacked much flavor. Adding salt and the furnished orange sauce helped but disappointed. We'll try it again probably with a substitute for the chow mein. read more

My grandmother moved here 10 years ago and we would always go to Happy Day when I visited and we loved the food. Today we ordered 60$ worth of food thinking it would be as good as it always was but we were let down after taking one bite. Neither of us could finish our food, the noodles were rubbery, the honey walnut prawns were caked in a quarter inch of gooey batter, and every plate had Hot peppers in them that were way to hot for my grandma. I tried to stick it out and continue to eat it but that was a mistake. I felt like puking after taking a few bites and ended up throwing my plate away as did my grandma. I'm not usually one to ask for a refund but the food was disgusting so that's what I did, I drove back, told the guy at the takeout window what the problem was and he said that he'd need to talk to his boss, he went and got two more people, a man and a woman, who were instantly rude stating that half the containers were empty and that we did eat most of it, which was a flat out lie, I explained that everything that was taken out of the containers and put on our plates was thrown away. They told me that the owner was not there and that there was nothing they could do to refund me the money and told me to come back tomorrow to talk to the owner. When I tried to explain that I was leaving to go back to the Bay Area tomorrow and I was just visiting , the woman that came out grabbed all the food that I brought back to go throw it out and told me that I'm not getting a refund and that this is the recipe they've always used. (I wish I could show pictures but I did not get a chance to take pictures because the woman threw my food away before I could) I'm not sure if this place is under new management since I've lost come here or what. The staff were so unhelpful and flat out rude as hell. I highly recommend NOT eating here until they get a handle on their attitudes, professionalism , and garbage food. read more

Classic Chinese food in the middle or the end of nowhere depending on if you live here or are just visiting the area. I love their fried prawns for an appetizer I know of no better. I've never had anything off the menu that wasn't great, twice cooked pork is one of my favorites. Close your eyes and pick something I know I won't be dissatisfied. Great food.
