Although I was only inside briefly, I immediately noticed how beautiful and thoughtfully decorated the restaurant was. The food was the real standout, though. I've tried Thai food from many different places, and this yellow curry is officially my new favorite. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. We came here on Sunday and it was busy!! The place was packed. It is quite small for the people they attract but the food was great! I for the drunken noodles and was excellent. Flavor was there and spice was there. My mother got the beef salad and it gave her an allergic reaction, it might have been something in their dressing but we will never know since it does not really specify but we will be sure to ask next time. My father got the drink tom yum soup. He really liked it. The shrimp how we was sparse... they could add a couple more in there. My sister got the basil chicken which she really enjoyed. This review is for a takeout order but I was really impressed with this location. I really wanted a pad Thai so I called ahead to order. Staff was nice and the food was ready on time. The restaurant is nicely decorated and there's plenty of parking out front. The reason I had to make sure to pause to give this place a five-star review though is definitely because of the pad thai itself. The flavor was really good and I appreciated the fact that they had lots of veggies and sprouts laid out on top. I probably get pad Thai once a week from different locations and this is one of the best I've had. They also added more peanut than most places and that just made it hardier and more delicious in my opinion. Idk what was up but there's was a difference between typing the address vs the name of the place. I was in the area and was open to all options. There's not a lot of places at Chico to go to. Staff were nice but there were only 3 the day I went and the restaurant was busy so it was difficult to get their attention when I needed something. The staff assigned to my seating area didn't really come back after I was fone with the food to ask if there was anything else I was concerned with. Anyway, I ordered chicken satay with a side of sticky rice. This was enjoyable which I would order again if I visit for next time. Then I added papaya salad (thai style, not laos). It came out pretty salty that I couldn't eat it so I barely touched it. We have always liked this place. But sad to say it was a disappointment tonight. It took 45 minutes to get our meal despite getting there right after it opened at 5 and the place being about a quarter full when we arrived and our order was taken. They finally brought my dish first, five minutes later my partners dish arrived . The pad see ew ( which I always order ) was not uniformly hot - there were cool spots- and the big pieces of broccoli were actually almost cold like they had been taken out of the refrigerator and tossed on the top or too quickly microwaved. And the dish was just ordinary....even the sauce was lacking, - was not as good as usual. We usually go at lunch, so we were surprised how crowded it was because after 45 minute wait the restaurant was full and there were people waiting. Which in a small place means that it was very noisy. That has always been the case here but it seemed moreso on this Sunday night. We have been at top-notch Thai places in large cities and thought this was still a good option in a small area. Maybe tonight they were having difficulties in the kitchen, but between the 45 minute rate and the quality of the dish it was a very disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in to the time we left the staff was very friendly. It quickly got busy around 6:30 pm with every table full & people waiting to be seated. The restaurant sign says seats 64. The restaurant was clean and inviting. There is a wine & beer list as well as the regular soda menu, Thai tea and a couple other offerings We enjoyed yellow curry, Genghis Khan chicken that came with a health sized portion of jasmin rice to share. As a celiac (extreme gluten free) disease person living in Chico, dining out options are extremely limited. I literally eat every meal at home. Cocodine has been my go-to when I need a break from the kitchen. Their chicken pad Thai hits the spot and I have never had an adverse reaction from their food. Very tasty food. Been going here for years. Panang curry and pad see yoo are our go-tos. Service always friendly. Not quick but good things take time. Not cheap either. We used to get take out more often but then realized how much we were spending. Loses a star due to participation in the currently crazy tip culture. First, suggesting gratuity to the customer, while common, is just poor form. Second, the recommended gratuity options STARTED at 15% and went up to 25%. Lastly, the recommended gratuity was calculated AFTER including the 9.25% sales tax. All kind of offensive. Definitely tempers how often I'll patronize. read more

Went here on separate occasions and ordered pad thai, red curry, and fried banana. Pad Thai is my go to to test how good a Thai restaurant is. I'll say this was passable, but I might need to try it again. I couldn't decide whether the tartness of the pad Thai was actually from tamarind or if it was something else. Red curry was pretty close to what I expect from a Thai coconutilk curry. Pretty nice and there were bits of veg and my chosen protein pork The fried banana was good but might be too much for me. The breading is a thick layer of panko almost like a mozzarella stick. The banana inside was a nice mildly sweet flavor though. Overall good, would come back when I'm craving Thai. Good food, good portion size. We tried Cashew chicken Green curry with pork Pad see-ew with chicken Pad thai (chicken, tofu, shrimp) All were excellent. We opted for "Thai spicy" on the curry and Pad Thai- and they did not disappoint! My son's curry was tasty but not overly spiced. My Pad Thai was probably the spiciest I've had in a long while, and I like to think I can handle a good amount - but it was so tasty I just couldn't stop eating it. So I just let the sweat roll and chomped on!! This place is definitely "out of the way" but well worth it. Next time we're in Chico we will absolutely be back. read more

Review is for takeout. I ordered Poseiden. It only had 3 pieces of shrimp, 1 scallop, 2 cuts of salmon (1"x1.5"). The rest of the to-go container was filled with what I imagine to be a full onion and half a bell pepper. Not worth the $17. Also ordered a chicken Rama curry. It came in a paper box. We FINALLY tried Cocodine and we loved it! I had heard so many good things through friends and others and wanted to try it for a while. We rarely eat Thai food, so the only time we had tried to visit in the past they had been closed. This time, though, it all worked out and we will absolutely be back! We got the appetizer (I forget the name) that was triangles of tortillas with chicken in between. Kind of like a flat dumpling. They were good! I probably wouldn't get them again but they tasted yummy and had a good sauce to go with them. For our meal we had drunken noodles and the eggplant chicken. Both were so good! The flavor was great in both and we had leftovers that tasted delicious the next day. They used a LOT of basil so I found myself pulling chunks out since I am just not a guy huge basil fan, but I did appreciate the flavors and how it wasn't bland. I forgot to ask for any chilies so I was a little bummed on that - Today we did take out and got the following: Coconut soup with chicken - mild flavor and regular mushrooms. I like the other mushrooms that are usually in that soup. Drunken noodles with pork - good but noodles were not full size they might have been over cooked and torn a bit more. Great fresh flavor though really enjoyed this dish. Gengis khan beef - no bell pepper - not a lot of veggies in there mostly carrot and bean sprout but good flavor. This place was super busy at lunch time and there were people waiting to be seated. I take it the locals love this place but if you are more custom to a more authentic taste, I wouldn't recommend this place. I ordered the Titanic soup, which was described as a combination of seafood blended harmoniously in hot n' sour soup, what I got tasted like seafood thrown in water; it was neither spicy or sour. In fact, I had to ask the waiter for the spice rack and I scooped 5 spoonful of Thai pepper marinated in fish sauce before the soup had any taste to it and it was still bland. My boyfriend ordered the spicy chicken which had good flavor but my boyfriend, who loves bell peppers, picked them all out. I asked him why and he said that they tasted funny. Thai food is my boyfriend's favorite, so we have a lot of it where ever we go. Sometimes we have it two or three times a week. This was one of our worst experience. Crammed together noodles plus tofu pieces. We're wondering if this was a reheated order as it was the worst Pad Thai ever. $13 Pineapple Fried Rice we ordered because of some positive review and we'll never order it again. $17 Overall we like Cocodine.
