Chicken satay with sticky roce and papaya salad
    Katherine R.

Google map didn't do justice for this place. It pointed me at the other side of the plaza by starbucks. Idk what was up but there's was a difference between typing the address vs the name of the place. I was in the area and was open to all options. There's not a lot of places at Chico to go to. Staff were nice but there were only 3 the day I went and the restaurant was busy so it was difficult to get their attention when I needed something. The staff assigned to my seating area didn't really come back after I was fone with the food to ask if there was anything else I was concerned with. Anyway, I ordered chicken satay with a side of sticky rice. This was enjoyable which I would order again if I visit for next time. Then I added papaya salad (thai style, not laos). It came out pretty salty that I couldn't eat it so I barely touched it. When the bill came, they didn't charged me for the papaya salad but I gave them a tip because food like that still costed a bit of work time and ingredients.

My son actually wanted sushi but I talked him into Thai at Cocodine. He is a hard sell but he is definitely sold on this place. Ambiance is pleasant and the place is so clean . Service was attentive and the food ---outstanding . We started with the calamari ----highly recommend---and both had bowls of curry. The sauce is on the thicker side ---no watery sauce here! And the flavor is delicious. If you haven't been, you are missing out!

From the moment we walked in to the time we left the staff was very friendly. It quickly got busy around 6:30 pm with every table full & people waiting to be seated. The restaurant sign says seats 64. The restaurant was clean and inviting. There is a wine & beer list as well as the regular soda menu, Thai tea and a couple other offerings We enjoyed yellow curry, Genghis Khan chicken that came with a health sized portion of jasmin rice to share. We took leftovers home. Food came out quick. The only negative is I ordered a glass of wine & my son a sprite that never came.

    Pad Thai

Went here on separate occasions and ordered pad thai, red curry, and fried banana. Pad Thai is my go to to test how good a Thai restaurant is. I'll say this was passable, but I might need to try it again. I couldn't decide whether the tartness of the pad Thai was actually from tamarind or if it was something else. Red curry was pretty close to what I expect from a Thai coconutilk curry. Pretty nice and there were bits of veg and my chosen protein pork The fried banana was good but might be too much for me. The breading is a thick layer of panko almost like a mozzarella stick. The banana inside was a nice mildly sweet flavor though. Overall good, would come back when I'm craving Thai. Bonus points for being open later than other options.

My boyfriend and i got this as take out, and it was amazing. Everything we had, we enjoyed. The flavors are all there, everything was complex and different than the other (one of the best things about thai food). I went a couple of years ago with a friend, and i remember not liking it as much. It has definitely improved over time (or my pallet has)

    Poseidon (sea food?)

Service was great but food was "eh"! She had the Poseidon - only two pieces each of shrimp and scallop, but lots of vegetables I had the Chicken Gro-Pow which was ok. Neither menu item would be ordered a second time.

Definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in Chico. Love their beef salad. They can get a little busy, but service has always been good.

Mediocre taste and they added on a tip that I hadn't added in myself for a to-go order. I would not recommend.

They have done a good job on the remodel ! It's located across and towards the back of where Dennys used to be ( btw. Dennys is closed permanently). I ordered the chicken pho and the combination plate. The pho broth was tasty and the amount they give you is budget friendly! Plenty of chicken in the soup! The combination plate consisted of chicken and beef with pork and shrimp with their rice. SO much food! The beef was tender..chicken was nice and tender and shrimp was tasty. Rice was excellent! Love the extra Seasonings on the side! It's going to be a hit in Oroville because they have fresh food with reasonable prices! They also serve beer and wine. They have outdoor seating but it's not set up yet to eat outdoors. Very large inside with a casual flair. Great experience! Will definitely be back to try another dish! Ps. Thank you LISA for excellent service! So sweet and attentive !

Quiet instrumental-type music was playing during our visit. "Best papaya salad ever!" says my husband -- and we eat a lot of papaya. We had ordered 2 combo papaya salads for dine-in, and then promptly ordered 3 spicy and 1 mild to take to my cousin's afterwards. The pho broth was top notch, as well as the khao poon. The khao poon is customizable and you can add quail eggs, pork blood, etc. The tricolor dessert drink / navaam was also really good with a fun selection of jellies. Definitely worth the stop if you love Hmong / Lao / Southeast Asian cuisine.

The drink quality and snacks really stand out and could compete with the various shops you might find all over the Bay Area. The popcorn chicken has a nice texture and has the desired taste you expect from a Taiwanese style snack. It isn't the non sense store bought chicken that you might find at other shops or restaurants that try to cut costs. I really appreciate how you can taste the tea in the various drinks. Many boba places get this wrong by using too much syrup or get it too watered down. However, the ratio and tea taste is perfect here. The experience with the staff members here for the past few months has been more than great. Overall, Project Tea is the only place you should go to for boba if you live near Chico State.

I was beyond excited to try the spicy katsu chicken sando (I literally attempted eating here for 2 months but kept missing their open hours. They are VERY limited). The pricing I was charged was a bit more than what was on their menu, which I hadn't noticed until after the fact. :-/ When the sandwich arrived it was not at all what expected. I looked up the sandwich months ago and it appeared to be a juicy chicken breast between sliced cabbage on thick, fluffy bread. What I got was some beat up, flattened GREEEEEEASY gummy chicken that wasn't the least bit appetizing. It reminded me of frog legs and I was pretty much grossed out after the 2nd bite. The bread was exactly the same as Astesano Bakery Bread and didn't seem "home made" as their menu states. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't (home made) but it sure seemed like the same bread I buy at Safeway. Needless to say I was BEYOND bummed out. I guess that's partially my fault though, I mean... I saw a picture they used to have posted on their menu (it's no longer there) and had expectations that it was going to be exactly the same, which it most certainly was NOT. If I could sum it up in 2 words: Gummy & Greasy. Yuck. The best part was the cabbage so, that's what I ate and ditched the rest of the "sandwich" to the trash. So yeah, $13 + tip for some cabbage. Awesome. With that said, I don't recommend this place for the Sando's but! I may return for the egg rolls. They look good in the pictures however since I got 100% duped this time around, I think I'll ask if anybody I personally know has tried the egg rolls first before I spend any more money here. I do like their outdoor dining and if they could move the ginormous trash bins away from the outside dining tables it would be a great place to dine (who wants to eat next to trash cans??) I'll end on a positive note and say, I did like that they have an option of indoor or outdoor dining, if they move the trash cans, that would be my preferred place to eat.
