    Bowl

My first time coming here and it was a great success! I will say, filling the bowl with ingredients did give me anxiety, and it was very messy, BUT the food was delicious. Our server was very accommodating. The inside does kind of give buffet vibes, but the food is great!

If ever you are in Chico... try this restaurant! Always busy and long lines but it goes fast. You will enjoy the experience. Hint.. watch others in line and watch what they do... Enjoy!

Dinner: Egg rolls and fried wonton chips with sweet and sour dipping sauce and a small squeeze of hot mustard (?)

2.5 stars for this place Okay - two AYCE dinners (~$25 /each) + 2 drinks + tip (servers & the cooks) - in total spent about 75-80$ You'd think the drinks would be included in the overall meal since it is AYCE for dinner , but nope. However, you do get unlimited soup of the day, rice, and the sides like egg rolls and wonton chips ... soo I guess that makes up for the price ?? Here is the trick and this is WHY I think everyone LOVES this place... It's NOT about HOW many trips / bowls you can eat that makes this place ummmm... "great" (what people wrote) it's honestly HOW WELL you can PACK your food INTO one bowl... literally like - building a tower of food in one bowl ! Becauuuuseeeee ... here's the catch... If you go for dinner and you want to take your food home (leftovers) you only get ONE TRIP THROUGH THE LINE .. This means- if you finish your FIRST bowl and you want to go back for seconds, you are now disqualified from taking home any of your leftovers... how does that make sense .!? Sooo - the trick is .. and based on what I've seen & now I know WHY people "love" this place so much... is they take two bowls.. use ONE bowl as their primary bowl and the other bowl to PRESS DOWN , TO MAKE THEIR FOOD FIT .. not kidding .. like smush ALL the ingredients into the other bowl for their one pass. I saw everyone doing this.. towards the end of the line and before the food gets cooked, it's a HUGE tower.! That's your ONE pass .. now that you have your tower and your big pile of food .. you can get that cooked.. once your food is cooked, you can feast on the free side dishes that are given per "dinner meal" .. and take your "leftovers" home whatttt.!!? .. if you plan to go there for ONE pass only, go for lunch. Definitely not worth the "AYCE" dinner 1 star for the restaurant itself .. 1.5 for the service. Honestly- not worth it for dinner and I don't think it's worth it.. period.

    Perfect bowl!

When I lived in the area 20 years ago Hulas was my favorite place to eat, haven't been here in at least 15 years and it didn't disappoint! I wish we had a Hulas in the Bay Area, none of the Mongolian bbq places here compare to how good Hulas is! The service was as amazing as it was way back when I went regularly, the wait staff and cooks were fast, friendly, and attentive. If I had one complaint it would be that there's no Hulas in San Jose!

If you give this place anything less than 5 stars you suck at cooking. Because they give you everything you need to succeed.

What is the price for lunch? Dinner? I could've find it on the website.

To eat there is a little more expensive than to take out. Last I went was around $18 per person.

It was 100 outside and just humidity and hot inside as well. Very uncomfortable. -Ordered 2 boba milk teas. It was like drinking watered down milk with a slightly toxic weird flavor. It did not taste good. -Ordered 2 shrimp fried rice bowls. The rice was old and seemed like it'd been reheated. (My husband is Filipino. I know what fresh rice and fried rice tastes and looks like. This was NOT) The shrimp had been boiled. Not fried. -Also ordered a thing of the crab wontons. They were very rubbery and stale. Overall it was very disappointing. Will not be eating there on our way back home. Side note: I probably would have gotten a combo but all the food on their food line was dried out and looked like it had been sitting all day. I threw out what I had left. Which from the pic I didn't even eat half.

The place is clean and everybody was friendly. The food is on a cafeteria type line, you just pick out what you want, and then they serve it to you and you take it to your table. I can't speak to the main dishes, themselves, as I just came in for a Boba tea. I did see that they also had wontons on the line, so I also did an order of wontons as a snack. The wontons were wonderfully crispy, and not greasy at all, and they were very generous with the portion. I liked the sweet-and-sour sauce, it was sweet and just a little bit tangy. I had the Matcha milk tea, it was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. It's hard to describe the flavor of Matcha, but I do like it. It was a bit sweet, and just a bit savory. They asked me if I wanted the Boba pearls, which I did because I like them a lot, and they were very generous with them. A milk tea and an order of wontons was only nine bucks. Extremely reasonable. Thank you for a nice stop.

This is a…read moreChinese buffet restaurant, and from what we searched, only buffet they had in all of Chico area. Even the casinos no longer offer buffets at casinos (this is very sad). So we are buffet snobs as well. We know a good place when we've eaten at one, and there are not many out there. Really there are what is it a dime a dozen? but the opposite. Let me start off by saying that this place serves normal food. I mean if you remember Hometown Buffet from back in the days, where they just got staple food and it was done well. Not great, but well. This is like that place. They do well with what they offer. First off, visited the salad station. You'd prob thinking, it's just salad right? Well, yes, but this is why this was great. NO ONE WAS THERE!!! LOL. Chico got some fat ppl that don't eat veggies. The vegetables were clean and fresh. 100% they cleaned and prepped this today. Also, their crab salad was stellar. Like right amount of mayo and the crab salad was not the cheap stuff either. Keep in mind there are people going around the buffet stations cleaning up ALL THE TIME TOO, so they are concerned about presentation very much. Had their hot and sour soup. It was good. It did not taste like buffet soup, but it was good like if you were to sit down and eat at a Chinese restaurant good. On to the fried food. This is where they shine. They don't just fry for the sake of frying stuff. They make sure it is lightly battered and seasoned gently. These stuff are not fried from frozen. From the fried chicken (this is fresh - i know that for fact cuz my mouth said so), the fried shrimp stellar. Everything was piping hot like they make sure the warmers are hot and that they refill the food up properly. Like I said multiple workers goes around ensuring things look and is right. Their fries were even hot and crispy. WTF. Those are usually soggy and gross. Not these. Tried so many stuff this evening I think i gained like 10 lbs! I did try the sushi - meh, and it's not expected if you pay $20/pp for buffet your sushi quality gets better. It was just a hair below ok. I didn't care for it, but at same time expectations were low. They also had a grill station where you can pick a boat load of stuff and have them fry it up. I didn't try it, but they have a lot of great options between veggies and meat. Overall, for $20/pp for dinner on a Sunday night is a steal! Like remember Hometown Buffet for $10/pp for dinner? This is like that, but with inflation and tariffs, still a great deal! Next time we in this area, this is first place we'd go back to for dinner. This was memorable and in comparison, to all Sacramento area stuff, this one is top 3 at least.
