Absolutely the worst dog groomer I've ever used in NYC. My dog has been professionally groomed once a month for the past 8 years, and any competent groomer knows what a Lhasa Apso haircut should look like. I sent multiple reference photos and clearly said do not shave him. Lhasa Apsos have a double coat, and shaving it can permanently damage the texture. Guess what they did? They shaved my dog. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then they actually tried to argue that he looked like the photos I sent. In what universe? My dog has always had a round face, and they shaved his face down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner did call to apologize, but even then she wouldn't admit the haircut looked nothing like the reference photos.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now I'm stuck hoping his coat grows back properly. Shaving a Lhasa Apso changes the coat texture, which leads to matting as it grows back, not to mention it makes him vulnerable to overheating, sun damage, and skin irritation. Any experienced groomer knows this. Beyond that, the place smells terrible. There's no one at the front desk, and you don't get to see where they take your dog or how clean (or dirty) the grooming area actually is. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I completely regret bringing my dog here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I only tried this place because we just moved to the neighborhood and our usual groomer is farther away. We have brought our Boston terrier to Happy Dogs several times, and always found them to take excellent care of him. We have done both overnight (boarding) and daycare. Especially for daycare, the cost is a little steep compared to what you could find on rover or at other locations in Queens. 2) They were 100% consistent with daily feeding and medication updates. Happy Dogs has been the perfect daycare for my high-energy puppy. We started taking her once or twice a week when she was 5 or 6 months old, and it's been the perfect place for her to play, socialize with other dogs, and let out some of that puppy energy. We love and trust Happy Dogs with our pup! Unlike many other doggie daycares, Happy Dogs is extremely transparent and diligent about keeping dogs happy and safe. They have a constant livestream where you can watch your pup all day, and they've gone out of their way to email us with even the slightest concerns or changes they've noticed with our pup, which makes us confident that they care about his well being. They are not kidding about using Cesar Millan's methods. So depending on your dog, their age and their sensitivity level Happy Dogs may or may not work for you. As my experience, we took our puppy there around 6 times. Every time he didn't want to go in ( which is not the case in his new day care) but I was told that's normal so I ignored it. After a while I noticed a change in his behavior, he got very sensitive and snapped at us every time we tried to put his collar on or even pet him. He was scared of all humans and acted strange. So we stopped sending him there. They did refund us whatever was left of his package. Now we are working with a trainer to help him with his reactivity toward people. So maybe if you have a young pup that's just learning about how people act, sending them to a day care that uses cesar Millan's pack mentality may not be the best idea! read more

Our dog Graham loves Happy Dogs LIC. When we look at the camera he's usually bopping around getting his energy out and sometimes it's sweet when you catch a moment when one of the staff are petting him or giving him a treat. The staff occasionally send photos and always leave a note about food or touch-up services completed. After months of notes about Graham "eating all of breakfast (or lunch)" it's become our own little joke text when either of us pick him up to text the check-out notes.
