I will give Happy Dragon 2 stars based on the food. For under 8 bucks, the food is decent. The service on the other hand deserves negative 2 stars. A few tips, treat your customers equally...don't be super sweet to one and short with others, especially if they are all in the restaurant at the same time. We do notice that. Don't nickel and dime people, your buffet price is pretty good for the limited selection, don't charge babies to eat. No kid under 5 will ever eat enough to justify ANY price. Don't argue with your customer in front of other customers on said amount pertaining to babies. Smiling doesn't hurt, having a salty look on your face is not customer service friendly. read more

Ordered delivery online last night and was thoroughly pleased with their service. As a vegan, it can be difficult to trust what you're getting, let alone a delivery that can't go back! I made a note on each of our items ordered: "Vegan. No meat, seafood, or dairy. Thank you." This place needs to be closed. I ordered for take out so you figure it would be cooked to order. The hot and sour soup tasted like metal. The honey walnut prawns was runny and the breading wasn't cooked through. The fried rice was hard as if it came from their buffet that's been sitting out all day. I won't be returning. NEVER COMING AGAIN!!! Right from the start, the service was extremely rude. We had a large group of 13 all but 3 having intellectual disabilities. The woman who served us didn't bring the waters we had ordered. While ordering, she demanded that people in our group order within two minutes or less. I tried to order a lunch special, and she strongly insisted that I just order the lunch buffet. I know what I want. When trying to order another item, the waitress looked at me and asked, "more food?" In a rude tone. Left a reasonable tip due to how large our group was. Best food and service I have had in a very long time. The owner just bought the restaurant 10 months ago and the difference between the new owner and the previous owner is night and day. It's wonderful to find a place to eat that cares about the customer and their experience. The food is delicious and flavorful. The staff is courteous and polite. Went in for lunch special based on menu posted on their website, but when I walked in they said only buffet was available. The item I wanted to order wasn't on the buffet, but I ate anyways and the food was ok. My favorite was the broccoli beef and sweet and sour pork :) very tender. The service was uncomfortable though. I was minding my own business but felt like they were just waiting for me to leave. They didn't fill my drink when it was empty :( maybe I just got a bad vibe from them. The delivery of our food was for 1 hour and after 1 hour and 15 minutes I was calling to find our food, I was told the driver was on his way that there was traffic. After 1 hour and 35 minutes, I finally get our food! It doesn't take 30 minutes to go a few miles in Tracy! This restaurant isn't on the low side of cost either but the food tastes like it! I will never order from this place again, don't always trust ratings. This used to be my all time favorite go to for chinese food. Unfortunately, they changed owners about a year and a half ago. I miss the authentic Cinese food that I used to get when I lived in the bay area. The menu is the same but the way the food is cooked is totally diferent than the old owners prepared it. The food is so-so, although my Chinese friends rave about it. Filthy seating area, and I don't mean the tables or floor. The next time you go in, though, look up at the ceiling. My husband and I ordered some food for here for delivery during the week and we still wish we would have ordered some place else. For starters, we did not receive our food for over an hour and thirty minutes. After about an hour of waiting my husband called to ask where our food was and the lady who answered the phone said the driver left a few minutes ago and hung up on him. 15 minutes later we call back and say we only live three miles from the restaurant and have still not received our food and she said she would call the driver and check what's going on...then hung up. Finally 15 minutes after that we receive our food... ...and it was horrible! I've had my fair share of reheated/microwaved Chinese food, and I can guarantee that is exactly what the food tasted like. The general chicken was not at all spicy, the orange chicken had some unrecognizable sauce and the breading on both was soggy and grainy as if it had been microwaved recently. We also had egg rolls which were tiny for nearly $1 each, and were also soggy. The bbq pork fried rice was tasteless, and the pork was dry. Normally I wouldn't be so harsh to leave a 1 star rating because I understand every business has their day, but the food, customer service, and wait times were all unacceptable. Well when I first moved to tracy I ate here at least once a week usually more. When they sold to another family member I was very disappointed at how cheap they went. The shrimp egg rolls went to veg rolls and the meat was fatty and tasteless. So when I heard they switched owners again I decided to try again. Wow what a disappointment. Was told 20 min took forty. The egg rolls were cold the silver wrapped chicken was ok and that was the best part of the meal. The Mongolian beef was terrible. Sauce tasted burned. Since my first order we decided to visit. we went in for the buffet, we were not impressed & was over charged for food that seem to be sitting out for a while, when ask for fresh she stated "there is still some there to eat" So again we ask and she said some more items will be out soon. The food was alright but this review is mostly based on the service. We ordered our meal off of GrubHub's app, and most who've used GrubHub know that you can ask for order specifications prior to adding the item to your order. We didn't notice any mention of the type of meat inside the potstickers and have dietary restrictions on pork. I know most pot stickers have pork but I've had vegetarian pot stickers many times in the past. So I ordered the potsticker with the special request of vegetarian. In the past, if the restaurant wasn't able to fill the special request, I would receive a call stating as such and an offer to exchange the item. This restaurant did no such thing. Instead, they delivered the food, and ON THE RECEIPT it stated "VEGETARIAN PLEASE" which they obviously ignored and sold us the pork-filled potstickers. Okay, so maybe that was just a bit of oversight on their part. Fine...but we called back to inform them that this happened and they blatantly just put the blame on us for ordering the item and not asking for vegetarian EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ON THE RECEIPT! They just kept arguing that they didn't serve vegetarian potstickers for 35 years, which was irrelevant to our complaint. They were very rude and stubborn...didn't even offer to refund us for the potsticker or exchange the item...not even AN APOLOGY. We will never order from here again for the reason of TERRIBLE customer service and highly advise those who do order from them to call them and ensure that they have the order correct...otherwise they will ignore your requests. read more

Its very rare that I write a bad review but this place is horrible. Not that the food is bad (it's by far not the best) but their lunch buffet always has the exact same things day after day. Very greasy....The woman who is the cashier is one of the rudest people I've ever come across. If you ask for one or two chili oils she looks at you like she wants to kill you. She has no customer service skills, there's been a few times I've had to bite my tongue with her. My boss loves this place, I'm not sure why. I was looking for Chinese restraunt's online and found that the happy dragon had a site to place orders, cool...why not. Placed my order loved my price,proceeded to check out but got a message saying "the kitchen is closed" but that I can still place my order for a future date. No big deal I called in placed my order and was told a final price over $10 more (pick-up NOT delivery) than the website. When I explained to her the website situation she told me I was on a wrong website and that I was mistaken. I asked if I were to place my order and show her the price on their site at the time of pick up would she honor that amount and I got a flat no. Needles to say I didn't place an order. I went there today with my daughter for the buffet. The woman there was very unfriendly, and when I asked her if I could take my leftovers home with me she became very irate and said no I couldn't.
