We use to come to eat here back in 2004, we been coming here off and on for a while now, but it's been a few years since we ate here, I'm sorry to say the food was terrible!!! So, I have mixed feelings about Happy Dragon. I have ordered carry out from here twice. I definitely don't recommend the rice plates. I opted to go that way simply because I have a smaller appetite and it's a bit more affordable.When I ordered lemon chicken, the chicken barely had any sauce on it. I don't like it too gloopy, but when I order lemon, I want to taste it. What I got was basically fried chicken and rice. Not what I was wanting that day, not at all. My potstickers on the other hand were phenomenal. They arrived piping hot, were fat, and not too greasy. Delicious. Then they ruined it by not providing any dipping sauce. I grudgingly mad my own. I wanted to give then another try and the rice plate experience was similar with a different dish (Orange Chicken). Makes me wish I had read the reviews first. Happy Dragon is also bit pricey. I never mind paying if I think the food is worth it. In this case, I'm not so sure. I don't plan to go back. read more

Ordered take out, Mongolian Beef Pork Fried Rice Beef Chow Main Egg Rolls I'm not a big fan of chinese food, and can be really picky when it comes down to it. (I just hate the meat some of the chinese restaurant use, they use the same meat for chicken and beef... ?!) The Mongolian Beef wasn't bad, but the Chow Main/Fried Rice was kind of plain. Egg Roll was good, but their Sweet & Sour sauce was weird... My BF ordered Hot & Sour soup, I think he liked it?! I had a DoorDash discount for this place and Ordered Mongolian beef , orange chicken and fried shrimp Appetizer. The Mongolian beef was mostly gravy soaked and 55% full. The orange chicken was disgusting and looked like it had been reheated 3 times and the shrimp Appetizers were full of dough. It was all disgusting and went in the garbage. read more

This restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall in an old strip mall by my gym in Tracy. During the SARS virus shutdown, this restaurant still offered delivery and pick-up. My rating is based upon not comparing this food or ambiance to fine Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, but for what is available in Tracy. With that caveat, I love this restaurant for always delivering delicious food each time I come. I had the Chicken Chow Mien, Cashew Chicken and Egg Rolls for take-out. The order was ready when promised, and it was hot, fresh and delicious. The price for this meal even beats the prices at Panda Express; and the food is more creative, tastier, and less salty. We are sad period we keep hoping that they'll be as good as they once were. They're crab rangoon is really good but tonight sadly, it was really cold upon delivery. We keep trying, they keep failing. I think we're done now. Such lack of flavor! The corn chowder soup was so blah and bland you had to put your own sesame oil and soy sauce in it to have some sort of flavor. First time here, husband wanted Mongolian Beef and Fried Rice. I ordered a serving of Crab cakes things. They had a bunch of I'm guessing the owners kids and cooks from the back eating lunch. ordered the food to go, lady in front was not super friendly borderline rude.... My husband said his food was spicy it was okay at first but when he got the rice he said it was Burnt, Old, and hard... like it was sitting in a bowl for a few hours before it was served. In the words of my husband he said it looked like "Dog Crap over Rice" There was big and huge pieces of Jalepeno Slices mixed in the beef, and the crab puffs I ordered were pretty decent, they just had big slices of onion and a LOT of onion! They weren't burnt for me but very little of the mix inside which was not very fulfilling. Will not return to this place... read more

Second time here BY ACCIDENT. I was googling a different restaurant with the word "dragon" in it and without thinking I called this one and placed an order on accident. Once I came here to pick up my food I realized I ordered from the wrong place. Customer service is NON EXISTENT here. Not sure what part of chicken the orange chicken is made out of but it's not white meat. Once I bit into it and the texture was "gooey" I spit it out and threw it away. Fried rice is plain with no vegetables and barely any egg in it. I'll pass. On top of all that it's a PANDEMIC and nobody got a damn mask on!!! read more

This was the worst Chinese food I have EVER had - we Door Dashed an order of Sweet and Sour Prawns, Sweet and Sour Pork, Shrimp Fried Rice and Cow mein. When it arrived, which wasn't a very long wait, both main dishes were completely soggy, with WAY too much doughy breading, and they tasted terrible. No crunch whatsoever - we have ordered fried items from Chinese delivery before and they have all arrived crunchy, so it isn't an issue of delivery time. The chow mein and rice were both completely burnt, and totally inedible. And for over $70 for this order, we were incredibly disappointed. The place is somewhat hidden and somewhat near the outskirts of town but the owners are nice people! In terms of food it tastes VERY HOME COOKED which I love. Overall the dishes had flavor and super appetizing. Gotta support the mom and pop shops! read more

I don't eat here as often as I did before I moved 5 years ago. But, it's worth the time for my favorite chow mein (Tomato Beef), which many places don't offer, and fried green beans with a side of General Chicken sauce for dipping. The honey walnut prawns are really good too. Even though the interior of the restaurant may be a bit shabby, it was clean enough for my standards. The food is what matters. I believe this place is family owned and operated, and the service is always friendly and polite. They do deliver (seems to be an on-again/off-again thing), which is a nice bonus! read more

I love this place! Is it the best Chinese food you will ever eat? Probably not, but it is my favorite. It is good and consistent. I love their hot and sour soup. It is really good. If I had a gripe it would be their lack of a traditional sauce for the pot stickers. We have been going to Happy Dragon, since moving to Tracy. Last week we ordered take out from Happy Dragon, it seems that recently the food from Happy dragon, has tasted wonderful. The pot stickers are perfectly cooked, not too crispy on the bottom. The fried asparagus is one of the great seasonal dishes they serve. The egg foo young, was amazing the patties were large, almost the size of pancakes. The take out cartons were nicely boxed, and the egg foo young was nicely put in a container and wrapped in plastic wrap, so it would not spill during travel. I used to love this place but stopped going a few months ago due to one bad experience - not sure if I'll return. The food overall was generally great and I'm not sure what happened the last time we ordered our favorites to go but three of our dishes had that "sour" taste that tells you there is something wrong with my food. Our chicken fried rice and our Mongolian chicken was yummy as always. The pork chow mein, egg flower soup and honey walnut nut prawns were not! Not sure if those were lunch time left overs but accounted for the sour taste. Great food the first few times but messing up once ends up ruining a good memory of past dishes! read more

I dined here on a Saturday night at about 7:30pm and there were quite a few others dining as well. We ordered Mongolian beef, orange chicken and a "large" bowl of rice which I will get to in a minute. The Mongolian beef featured fattier cuts of beef than I am used to but the flavor was good. I did request for this dish to be extra spicy but it was still lacking some spice for my taste. I thought the orange chicken was delicious although some pieces of chicken were a little chewy. It is worth noting that both dishes come with no fillers such as bell peppers or onions. Now...they offer a small bowl of rice for $1.25 or a "large" bowl for $2.50. We ordered the "large" bowl which let me warn you is hardly enough rice for 2 people. I would assume Happy Dragon is making quite a profit on their rice servings which in my opinion are tiny! My recommendation would be order your food to go and make your own rice at home. The service was what stood out to me. Everyone was very welcoming and concerned with how you were enjoying your meal. It is very refreshing to receive good service nowadays. I'll probably be back but I doubt I will become a regular. read more

We ordered a bunch of food for New Year's Eve. They were open until a decent hour so I gave an extra star for that. Most of the dishes we ordered were edible but had gloppy or tasteless sauces. Their Mongolian beef was so mushy that a toothless person would have no trouble eating it! They also served a strange, syrupy dressing with the Chinese Chicken Salad. It would go perfectly with pancakes, not the salad. Even the fried rice was subpar, quite heavy with oil. To be fair, the Vegetable Egg Foo Yung was OK and they did a good job on the BBQ pork. This place seems to be hit or miss with flavor but it's been good for us so far. We really like the potstickers and I like they serve it with special vinegar that has changed the way I eat potstickers even at other restaurants. This food most reminds me of the type of Chinese food you would find in like San Jose or the Bay Area. Not fancy or anything but old school Chinese food. The honey walnut prawns actually have honey walnuts here (Mei Mei doesn't offer the walnuts anymore) and the Hong Kong style pan fried noodles is really good. We like the house fried rice and chicken mushroom. Prices are fair. I'm realizing there isn't just one Chinese food place that has everything you'll love. You'll often find you'll like the chow mein better at one place versus the other or the wor Wonton Soup etc. They also have a buffet for lunch. I personally don't enjoy the buffet since I like the a la carte items better but a nice option since we currently do not have any other buffets that serve Chinese food exclusively. 3 out of 5 stars because of location and it's in an older plaza. read more
