The two best massages I've ever had were by men... women don't seem to listen to what I need and just run through whatever routine they learned. I don't get a massage to relax, I get a massage because my body needs work, and I know what I want done. Yes, there's a language barrier here with SOME of the employees, including the older Chinese man that came as a recommendation from a friend. But OMG. That guy (don't know his name) worked MAGIC!! I was suffering severely from sciatica, and muscles all over my body were stressed out and in so much pain... I must have $500 over 3 sessions with him, but it was worth penny. The first time I told him what I needed done, and he did it. the second and third times I didn't say anything and he just KNEW what to do, he KNEW where to work on me without me saying, and I didn't need the same places worked on as the first time. Every time I left there I felt like I was walking on a cloud... he worked on me an hour and a half the first time, and 2 hours the other times. I tip him really well because he's worth it. My first time going to Happy Feet, but it won't be my last. Went with three friends and we opted for the hour and a half foot massage. They start with a bit of a shoulder/head massage while your feet sit in warm water. Afterwards, my feet were massaged, as well as my legs, hips and sides. The pressure was heavy, but I like that and it really worked out the kinks. The only thing I will say is that it was very chilly in the room, but we did have blankets covering us. If you are someone who runs on the cold side, dress warmly if you go in winter months. Highly recommend! read more

So I think I had the same guy as Emily S. mentioned, lots of noises during the session which was a turn off. The foot massage was okay but it wasn't as soothing as I've received at other reflexology places. I would describe it as more of brisk jabbing/poking vs kneading. The place was very clean with light relaxing music playing. The room is down a long hallway and has about 10+ beds. There are hooks next to each bed with a semi-divider. Like others have said, you get a neck/back/arm massage over a towel while your feet soak. Then lay down under a blanket as they put on lotion and rub your legs/feet. the beds were comfortable but the towels used were very scratchy. I booked a foot reflexology session with the manager, Ben, and he was wonderful. I walked in with calf and hamstring tightness and walked out very much improved. So much so that I booked 2 days later for full body work, again with Ben. Ben knows what he's doing. He worked on my entire body and then returned to my calf and hamstring and now they are nice and loosened up. I will continue to book here. Man rubbed my feet FAST and SOFT for 95% of the time. He did 1 pressure point on 1 foot and 3 on the other. All 4 of the "pressure points" didn't feel like anything. It was like having a bad pedicure rub. Absolutely no thought or feeling put into this massage. Just mindlessly rubbing my leg/feet. How can you not pull off a good foot massage and a foot place and not do any reflexology? Totally pointless and a waist of money. Very disappointing. Hard to even rate them a one star. 3 men working and constantly running back and forth to the door and therefore shortening my massage time. I went with a friend and both did not have an enjoyable experience. The chatting amongst them was a huge turn off. Then applied no pressure to your foot reflexology. Only rubbing lotion on your toes and gently rubbing them is not foot reflexology. At no point I felt pressure was applied to specific reflex points on the foot. Extremely disappointed with the entire experience and aside from running back and forth, you get about 40 mins of foot rub time and 7-8 mins of using a warm towel trying to clean off the lotion used on your feet. I'm normally a patron of Happy Feet Spa (not affiliated) in Chinatown, but that became too much of a trek after moving to Waltham, so imagine when I found this place! It's so easy to make an appointment, I've even called the day of to book a Couple's Deluxe session. The inside is updated and relaxing; it's modern and peaceful. Service is prompt and professional. For reflexology, they take you into a back room with a line of chairs/bed. For the first fifteen minutes or so, they give you a upper body massage while your feet soak. Afterwards, you lay down and are essentially tucked in, while your face is covered; and they work on your feet. It sounds weird, but it's actually quite relaxing. They are very professional and take care to make you comfortable. I'm always so comfortable that I sometimes fall asleep! My only piece of feedback is that, depending on the therapist, pressure is not always strong enough; I am definitely not a delicate flower and am full of knots and tension. There may be a language barrier, so I'd clarify that beforehand, if possible. I second the recommendations here to wear shorts, dresses, or yoga pants. It would be very difficult to do this while wearing skinny jeans. For the bodywork, my friend, who is a licensed massage therapist in Florida, went with me. I'd been showing her around Boston and we'd been hiking/working out every single day; so we decided to treat ourselves to the Couple's Deluxe massage. NOTE: The Couple's Deluxe includes 1 Hour of Tuina (a type of massage) and 1 Hour of Reflexology; but that means that one person gets the Tuina Massage and one person get the Reflexology. If you are booking this with someone else, then it's an either/or situation; we clarified this with the front-desk and paid an extra $95 so we'd be able to have both services. The Tuina bodywork felt amazing; it's isn't like a Swedish massage where it's just rubbing, but is it's own form of massage therapy. My therapist's name was Mack; his grasp of English was minimal, so I was worried about the language barrier, but he did great work throughout the massage. He was professional throughout and really focused on the areas of my back that needed extra work (I have minor scoliosis, so there's always some discomfort there). One hour of pain and I paid for it. I went thinking I would get one of the 5 star foot massages but decided I'd go for the full body. It was complete and I didn't know my body could be pulled, tugged and moved into those positions but stretching out the muscles did my body good. The only think I did not like was the open space feel. Each room is not really closed to the sounds so you can hear people talking, moving around as if they are right there next to you. Although the room is private it doesn't feel private with the sound travel. With that said, still worth going. read more

The worst experience. Had an appointment today. How is this even allowed to be open? They charge 55-60 for 30 min "back massage" and 30 min legs. Let's start with the fact it's ONLY man working. Second of all you don't even get a salon seat! You Literally sit on a small coushin. NO one speaks English at all. Only workers that look like they are illegally working in there. After paying and tipping 15$ per person he dares to take out a translator and ask why such a small tip! Very unprofessional and will be reporting to BBB! If you have a masseuse you like here, stay with them. If you don't, watch out. Or be very specific as to what level of pressure you're looking for. My dad and I got 2 walk-in masseuses (they were both men, which was fine) and they both sucked. No apparent veteran experience, an overall sense of lazy - an unwillingness to use hand strength (to preserve strength for the rest of their shift?) and the most annoying stretches, slaps, and snaps - typical of the dumb "new school" Chinese reflexology that's taking over the nation. The actual foot massage I received was lame and light, and the hand massage was almost non-existent. The foot tub was lukewarm at best - not hot at all. The first 20 minutes of the hour consisted of my guy trying to use his elbow (unsuccessfully) at pressure points along my back. He was terrible at it, and this was incredibly annoying and strangely fascinating at the same time. Both masseuses spent too much time doing dumb stuff other than foot massage, which is beyond missing the point I would say. Gave the masseuse the benefit of the doubt and didn't check the time on my phone, but turns out I was shortchanged a couple of minutes. Who the hell does this guy think I am? $35/hour is "cheap" for the East Coast, but expensive for the West Coast, where one can find good clean places for $20/hour all day long, and if you use a punch card you can find places as low as $12.50/hour. I wanted to update as I felt it was important for grouponers and customers alike be aware that Happy Feet has turned into somewhat of a cattle herd of foot massages. There is no longer an effort to share your privacy. The last experience I had here convinced me with the influx of massage places opening, this is no longer a place to go when others still appreciate your business and privacy. The most recent time I've been here is when I came solo and the escorted me into a room with at least 10-12 chairs lines up along a wall, and another on the other side. It was a full house, no curtain except pulled half way, so I had a great view of people feet being slapped left, right, and IN FRONT OF ME! Just the fact that you can't relax, nevermind the sound of random pounding, breathing, and slapping going on in a huge room was enough to make me feel so unnerve and embarrassed. It was almost funny if it wasn't so unsettling. Group foot slapping anyone? Skip this place, they clearly are out to herd you through and volumize the business and space. I hope it pays off with their influx of new customers via groupon etc... I don't believe they will keep much loyalty. I left awhile ago. Try the Oriental Foot Beijing style over on Main St. They are one of the bests. read more

My boyfriend and I went in for a couples massage and for 60 minutes of a full body (not foot reflexology) and it came to 120$ which without any coupons I thought was okay. What is a great deal is the hour long couples foot reflexology for 95$. The men that did both our massages were by far the strongest missus I've ever had. They were so detailed and it was so strange how I didn't even need to tell them where I had pain they just knew. My boyfriend said the same thing, he didn't need to mention his lower back they just focused on it. I was incredibly impressed by the cleanliness, professionalism, and decor. I hate leaving low-score reviews publicly without reaching out to the business first, but unfortunately found no email address to contact the business with. I visited this place last Saturday for the first time and was really looking forward to relaxing/treating myself after a very long few weeks so I booked an appointment for an hour of foot reflexology. I've had similarly priced treatments at different places off and on for a while, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, I left the service feeling even more tense than I had before I started. The gentleman I was booked with sounded sick/was sniffling and breathing heavily through his mouth and swallowing loudly the entire time (which was really unpleasant when he was rubbing my shoulders/neck at the beginning). Those noises really grossed me out and the service provider didn't ever ask me how the pressure was/if anything felt good. It would've been just okay regardless, but ended up making me feel totally uncomfortable. I actually came down with a cold yesterday and wonder if this is why. Apart from the totally lackluster service, the person who checked me in and out at the front desk never asked how my service was, and the man who I had seen was standing at the desk when I checked out waiting for a tip - which was not super professional. Wish this experience had been what I was looking forward to, but I don't think I'll be back :( read more

I have been a customer of happy feet for years yet haven't visited them post-pandemic. I made an appt today for a 90 min reflexology session. I arrived and waited 15 minutes for my appointment to begin. They seemed shortstaffed. Then about five minutes into my appointment, the woman who was working on me left to tend to the front desk. She was gone for approximately 10 minutes. She then seemed to rush through the service only to leave again at one point for five minutes to again tend to the front desk. Although my appointment did not start on time, it ended on time. to my surprise when I went to pay at the front desk, the gentleman tried to charge me for the full 90 minutes. I said "no the appointment was for 90 minutes but she only worked on me for an hour so I will pay for an hour". He looked confused and said "an hour and 15 minutes." I said "no, one hour. I watched the clock. My appointment was for 90 minutes, she only worked on me for one hour as she kept leaving to deal with other customers." the service was rushed and less than satisfactory especially considering how wonderful this place used to be. Definitely gone downhill. I will not be returning. It's also the first time I have never tipped. read more

Me and one more came in for the last appointments. It's very affordable for the amount of time that you get it we paid $35 for a 60 minute foot reflexology massage which is great especially if you are on a budget. But this is not a regular spot environment when you enter the treatment room there is about a dozen beds in the room that are separated by dividers that are hanging from the ceiling, the lights are dimmed low & Others getting a treatment are in that room with you was well. We got a little bit of a head and neck shoulder massage before getting into the foot reflexology was a really nice surprise. My foot massager itself I would say is like a seven out of 10. The guy did a really good job, I just feel like I could've used a little more pressure, it was also really cold in there which is not so comfortable. Also the massage cream that they were using was also very cold which is not comfortable either. Lastly right when we finished they just turn the lights on because we were the last ones there. I get it because it was late, so keep this in mind when you have your relaxing spa mindset that because it's a small business that's on the foreigners it may not be like a spa experience on Newberry Street. I got the hr foot massage which was $35. They soak your feet in a bucket while you get a 10 min shoulder and head massage. Then you lay down and the rest of the time it's a foot massage. It was overall great for the price. There's no privacy and you're in a room with a bunch of other chairs and people so just be prepared for that. I fell asleep and was startled awake several times by the noise. My only complaint was that even through my covid mask, I could smell the cigarettes off my guy's hands when he was massaging my neck and shoulder. Just wished he cleaned them better or something. I went back this past Sunday and although the reflexology was great, my debit card was charged more than what is listed in the shop. The fee is $40 and I was charged $41.20. You may think it's not a lot, and it's not, but just think of all the $1.20s they are getting. I called and spoke with the owner and she said that it's a charge by the credit card company.....WRONG. It's a charge that they put on so they don't have to pay the credit card company extra. They still get their $40. Do not go here, they charge extra for services that are not listed. This place is pretty unexpected, but a very pleasant surprise. I'm not one for reflexology but my friends convinced me and after one hour in this spot I'll definitely come back again. If you have not been before here is what to expect: You walk in, check in and quietly heard back to a rectangular space that has about 15 lounge chairs split down the left and right. The space is dim and cool and light Chinese spa music is playing in the background. Your reflexology walks you to your lounge chair and you sit and take off your shoes. Once you have done this you sit on the end of the chair turn to the side and put your feet in a warm bucket to soak. For ten minutes while they soak you have a neck, shoulder and back massage. Following this you have your feet wrapped, you lean back into the lounge and you are immediately covered by a blanket and a face towel to cover your eyes. Once laying down your yoga pants (recommended) are push up to your knees and the foot and calf massaging begins- here you have 45 mind of intense foot massage that leaves you in somewhat of a trance. Your time finishes with a bit of calf slapping and you slowly get up, have a sip of water and a mint and regroup from being off in a daze. For me, it was so different from anything I have done, but it did feel good. The space is super clean, calm and the staff are very formal yet pleasant. I would go back. Recommendations: shave your legs, wear yoga pants or shorts, and be open to a new experience if you have not done this before. read more

Generally speaking, I was satisfied...especially for $35/hour. Chronologically speaking: 1) got the feeling the masseuse didn't speak English...it would be nice if they asked you what you wanted to get out of the session, if you wanted them to focus on anything in particular, etc., 2) footbath was a little weird -- you put your feet for 20 minutes basically in a plastic bag-lined garbage pail. Water could've been hotter, maybe scented a little, maybe in a nice container. 3) the first 20' body massage was pretty lame. They're clearly not trained to give body massages, and a massage just doesn't work when you're sitting up w/ all your clothes on. 4) the last 40' of foot massage was great...I could've done that all day. So again, for $35 it's not bad...but I will probably try out one of the other similar businesses around Waltham before coming back. If I could make one suggestion, I'd say forget the 20' body massage and just give an hour long foot massage...that's why folks are coming to you. read more

I have been running more since covid lockdown. and my feet were starting to ache/suffer. It seemed like they were getting stiff and needed repair. I scheduled a foot massage. Upon arrival, the receptionist took my temp at the door and the showed me to a large room w multiple beds. The beds on either side were empty (covid spacing?). Mike started out w a neck and back massage while my feet soaked. Then he worked on my feet. I swear he found all my aches and pains as they feel so much more flexible. I've been here a few times for the foot massage and I can say it is awesome! When you arrive at Happy Feet you are greeted and whisked off to the massage room where you relax on a comfy lounge chair. (The room is open so you are not having a private massage - you may hear a little noise, but nothing crazy). Then you are greeted by your therapist with a warm bucket of water. Next you soak your feet in the warm bucket while you have a head, back, arm massage. After that you lay down for a foot/leg massage. AWESOME. After the massage you'll get a cup of water and a green candy. You can pay with your credit card at the font desk. Sometimes the tipping process is a little confusing because you don't want to make noise and run around in the massage room. I like to keep my cash tip in my pocket so I can had it to the therapist at the end of the massage. This seems to work better and causes less confusion. Best $35 you'll spend in Waltham. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Candidly speaking.....wanted to like (actually love) my experience @ "Happy Feet" in Waltham as I took my wife out there on our weekly date nite last nite....but my fantasy fell far short of the reality. (a) They are impersonal and shuffled us into a dimly lit room with no explanation with no place to put our personal belongings (b) we ordered a one hour "foot reflexology" and they spent 40 minutes rubbing other parts except my feet (c) I asked several times to go gentler on pressure and my "practitioner" grunted but didn't soften his touch. And the technique was actually painful and I came out more tight than when I went in. Such a bad experience so I'm considering reporting them to the Waltham Board of Health as it feels very much like an unregulated establishment. I've been to many health spas in the U.S. and abroad and this one felt closet to a seedy/shady Thai place in Bangkok. I have had many massages including feet focused sessions and this experience did not measure up (even for $35). So I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about in their comments...curious is this place now under different ownership? Or it makes me suspicious and wonder have the reviewers been paid? As both our experiences were terrible and we'll never go back. For $35 or not. I walked in with no appointment around 7pm on a Wednesday night and was immediately taken in for an hour foot massage. While your feet are soaking they massage shoulders, arms, hands, etc. Once I was done I went to the fron and figured why not go for the matinee and grab a back massage. I had the same woman who again did a great job. Good pressure, found knots and kneeded them out, etc. All in all, $95 later (plus tip) for two hours of massages I'm very pleased. No, not all their employees speak great english but they're very nice and provided great service. Two things I really liked about this place was that they use a warm damp wash cloth to clean off oils after each massage and they also massage for the full amount of time...no stopping 5-10 minutes early like most places. One caution, if you're really adament about total quiet when you get massages, etc., this may not be best fit for you. Don't get me wrong, they have the whole spa background music going and it's pretty quiet, it's just that you can hear people walking around, some people talking, and the foot massage area is an open room with drop down bamboo shades between each of the massage chairs (which are very comfortable). read more

I have been visiting Happy Feet since it opened in 2012. This is the perfect stop after a hard day at work when you need expert pampering with skilled practitioners in the art of foot reflexology. Happy Feet is a safe haven for women and I recommend letting yourself go and succumb to the nice feeling of a good foot massage. The staff at Happy Feet is caring and attentive. The setting is public but strangely private aided with bamboo privacy shades and low lighting with soothing music. While soaking your feet in a warm tub of water, your back, arms, neck, head, hands are given a lovely once over to loosen everything up. Once completed your feet come out of the tub one at a time and individually wrapped with a towel. Up onto your back onto a comfy bed lounge with a pillow, you are tucked under a blanket. Ahhhh. Each foot is carefully worked on from toes to arches to heals. A warm towel at the end with a friction run removes the oil and makes your legs tingle nicely. While still lying down and blanket still over you, the practitioner gently rubs your lets allowing for full circulation. If you have personal music, you can get Happy Feet to enter their Wifi password on your phone and tailor your experience. At $35 an hour, this is way more than a bargain. Even with a full group, the thoughtful interior is designed to make you feel like you are the only person in the room. Couple of notes. Not everyone speaks English. Learn to say "thank you" in Chinese. Smile for crying out loud. These are Chinese nationals who are very happy to work in the US. They are not indentured servants. Please tip accordingly. I generally tip $5 if OK massage to $20 if it is over the top. Good tipping gets me the best folks. They remember. CiCi who works the front desk is a sweet and wonderful person. She wants to know about your experience. If it is not right, she will make it right. Purchase a set of coupons, 5 massages for the price of 4. Awesome one hour couples foot massagein Waltham...yes one hour. Very nice surprise to receive spontaneously today in what has been a hectic week. The whole experience was pleasurable. Clean serene environment with soft lighting and a mix of just present classical and asian flute music that never repeated. Comfortably warm surroundings in the treatment room which was shared . Bamboo floors. First we soaked our tired feet in a large bucket of warm water with rose petals in it while we simultaneously got seated back and shoulder massages and perhaps most divine a hand and arm massage(yes part of the foot massage!) Then we were reclined side by side on a very comfortable deluxe padded recliner and worked over pretty thoroughly from the knees down. Towards the end there were some added touches reminiscent of a mother's rocking - suffice to say we both went away without a care in the world. The warm cloths at the end were a particularly welcome touch as was the drink of water brought as we put our shoes back on. They also do full body massage and a 1 hour combo couples massage where one gets the foot massage and one gets the full body massage though I think I would double up and do a back to back 2 hours so I could experience both in that case!
