I ordered a small order of bbq spare ribs, crab rangoons, and the seafood combination. The crab rangoonn were ok. The spare ribs were decent and edible but they were burned. The seafood combo came with shrimp, scallops, imitation crab, straw mushrooms, and vegetables. It was well watered down, leaving a wet, sloppy dish. It was flavorless. Ordered General Tsos from DoorDash for 10.80. 1) Fried Rice: it's got decent Wok Hei. Pork pieces are fairly good sized and seasoned well. It's not the char siu that is all dried up and what not - tastes pretty legit. The combo comes automatically with pork fried rice. 2) General Tsos: some pieces were dried and stringy, but most were not. The sauce is on the spicier end than others, but the flavor is VERY PLEASANT. It does have a slight garlicky flavor which I liked a lot. 3) Broccoli: wait what??? Am I reviewing garnish? Yes. And their broccoli is fresh. No grey or spotted stems. No bitterness. I'm a fan. 4) Egg roll: not super greasy. I'm convinced they all order it frozen from the same place cuz it all tastes the same. If I could give them zero stars I would. I've been going to this restaurant for years. Last week my sister and I purchased vegetable fried rice and a vegetable dish. The food was excellent; cooked exactly as we requested with brown rice for the fried rice dish. We also requested brown rice as the accompaniment to the vegetable dish. Last night we came back and my sister ordered the same two items the same way (brown rice) This time the food was awful. The vegetables were burnt and the "fried rice" was like paste. It was gummy and pasty lacking any flavor, just disgusting! She paid $25.00 for nasty probably old reheated food. She called the store. Their manager called her back. He told her that he would credit her. We asked if we should bring the food back the next day. He said "no." When we arrived today the girl who made the fried rice dish gave us so much push back and flack arguing that the rice she made for us last week was white rice. I told her I only eat brown and I know the difference. She continued to argue even though she acknowledged that the manager had directed her to give my sister a credit. When she finally agreed to that I asked how the credit would be given (what form? Coupon, note etc?) The girl then walked away, came back and threw $10.25 into my hand and said "don't come back." As if I ever would give them another dime of my money. She actually became more rude when other people came into the restaurant. I mean really? They can't possibly think someone would be treated badly, given bad food and then told not to come back to the disheveled restaurant where boxes are piled a mile high in the dining area where patrons used to be able to sit and eat. How tacky! They should be grateful that anyone would entertain buying anything from there! And.....to add insult to injury, she dint even refund my sister properly. She charged extra for brown rice however, she failed to give my sister a full refund. TLDR: if they get your order wrong, instead of fixing it, they'll tell you they'll call you back and then block your number. I was treated very poorly here. There was a minor mistake with my order, which was no big deal - I got the wrong type of rice with my combination platter. I first tried to address this with Door Dash by clicking the "help" button. But that menu informed me that feedback would simply be shared with the restaurant to improve future experiences, not that my order would be fixed. So I called the restaurant to ask about this, and the woman I spoke to said "for Door Dash orders, you need to speak to my manager, but she's on the other line. Give me your number and she'll call you right back." So I did and I waited. 15 minutes later, when I received no call, I tried calling again, only to find that they had blocked my number ("Welcome to Verizon Wireless. Your call cannot be completed as dialed" - for a number that had worked 15 minutes ago). I tried several more times to no avail, but then called with my partner's phone and the call went right through. I explained that I was waiting now for 20 minutes and no one had called me back. She asked me to hold the line for her manager to speak to me, but then hung up. I tried calling back only to find that they blocked THAT number as well. So I got in my car and went to the restaurant. There was one woman and two men present (and I could see the entire place). The woman approached me, and I asked for the manager. She said she was the manager, and I recognized her voice as the one on the phone - meaning she lied about needing to have another female manager speak to me. I confronted her in a calm manner about her jerking me around and blocking my calls. She just looked at my quizzically. I asked her to at least make it right by replacing my combination platter (since the chicken had sat around for a while by this point), but she would only give new rice. She then said that in the future, I should call door dash if there's something wrong with my order, because they can initiate a new order. I said it would have been nice if she told me that when I called instead of jerking me around. Rest assured, there will be no future order. Our normal take-out Chinese restaurant is King Garden on Naaman's Road but we decided to give this place a try because one of us doesn't like the Sesame Chicken at King Garden and the rest of us like the Beef w/Broccoli and the different Egg Foo Young dishes. I had the Egg Foo Young here and it wasn't very good. The sauce/gravy was yellow and had zero flavor (like they didn't season it at all). The egg patties were also lacking flavor and were sort of greasy (all Egg Foo Young can lean towards the greasy but normally you have a delicious gravy to soak in to it which masks that). BF had the Beef w/Broccoli and said his food also completely lacked flavor/seasoning. The picky eater who doesn't really like Chinese food like we do got the Sesame Chicken and said it was just ok. In short, not worth the change since the two of us who really enjoy King Garden didn't like our food at all and the picky eater didn't really like it better. Not horrible, but for the same pricing, and practically the same location (right around the corner for us), King Garden is much better. read more

Happy Fortune was about 10% less expensive for about $50 worth of food and included a free can of soda. Here were the items and how Happy Fortune ranked: Crab Rangoon- good, but not the winner and smaller portion Friend wonton- tougher breading and minimal meat filling Egg rolls- much smaller and less flavor Fried dumplings- meatier and thinner dough Pork fried rice- fluffier and moister Shrimp lo mein- smaller shrimp, more veggies, and shorter, thicker noodles that broke more easily Orange chicken- meatier, with less breading- but more broccoli and orange rind in container White rice- drier and the rice had a streak of grey in the grain Sweet and sour sauce- more water The extras- no silverware or extra sauces compared to the other place which generously provided. Bottom line: This is the place to go to for orange chicken, meaty fried dumplings (although smaller portion), fluffier (but not as flavorful) pork fried rice with more veggies like bean sprouts and no peas. Tonight we were trying some new dishes to see if we could entice our son who says he doesn't like Chinese food. We ordered Szechuan Beef and Twice Cooked Pork. Both were supposed to be spicy and neither had much flavor at all. The sauce was gelatinous and blah. Both were mainly vegetables, which were very good, but when you order twice cooked pork, you expect to see some discernible pieces of pork. The beef dish was somewhat better with larger pieces of meat, though it, too, was sparse. Even the rice was overcooked and wet. Crab rangoon and egg rolls were good. I have had good Chinese food. Food and service is typically medicore for a fast food Chinese restaurant- however they were a little less expense than the restaurant on philadelphia pike, just over the hill... so I would order here occasionally. A couple days ago I ordered one small dinner order, a pint of food, and was told something listed on their menu for $5.95 was $7.95 now at pickup! Their menu pricing still reflects $5.95, they said they are charging all orders $2 extra. I said I was not ok with that, it's not the price in the menu and I was not told that on the phone. This Chinese takeout is located in a small strip mall along the southbound side of Marsh Road. Although this strip mall is back to back with Branmar Plaza, it isn't connected to that larger shopping center, which is a bit inconvenient. I thought service was okay. The evening we placed our order, they had four people working in the kitchen, so it didn't take too long to prepare the food even though they were handling a few phone-in orders at the same time. Pretty good option for take-out. Not really set up for dining in. Fast service, food is as good as it gets for Americanized Chinese take-out in North Wilmington. They will prepare off menu items and also sell by the pint, which their competition in the next shopping center won't do. It can be loud and frenzied when you pick up, but hey you'll only be there for a few minutes. Update: not sure what has happened here, but the last few times the food has been horrible. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. Shrimp and broccoli covered in thick dark sauce like corn syrup mixed with soy sauce. Shrimp with lobster sauce completely flavorless, with old frozen peas and carrots thrown in .... I felt bad for them. House fried rice had strips of freezer burned chicken that were so gross I had to spit it out. Veggie dumplings wrapped in thick soggy mush, paper tastes better. Literally been coming here for probably 15 years. It's the best Chinese take-out I've ever had, but then I, like most Americans, really enjoy food that's likely bad for me. But rest assured, those times you just want something delicious, health-consciousness be damned, then Happy Fortune's got you covered. This place is great for a lot of reasons, one of them being that they seem to be open to customizing any dish you can think up. If they have the ingredients, they will put them together however you want. I haven't abused this too much, I don't want to complicate things too much for such nice people, but I regularly order dishes that aren't on the menu like orange tofu. I've also learned that if you order the same few dishes at least twice a month, they will learn your name when you call- I'm sure I could just order "the usual" and hang up and pick it up in 15 minutes. They lay the sauce on pretty thick in a lot of their dishes, but again, you can ask them to use less, and they do, and I've found this to be exactly perfect. Great food, nice people. Yeah, it's a bit of a hole in the wall, but it's the best [Americanized] Chinese food I've found in Delaware, and their modest decor only makes the place seem more genuine to me. This place has been around for at least a decade and a half, which I think is its own testimony to how much people love the food. Obviously it's not everyone cup of tea, based on the reviews here, but give it a chance, it might just be your go-to Chinese place. read more

There are several options for this type of chinese takeout in North Wilmington, but this is probably the most consistent one in terms of quality.
