Not only does Rebecca provide the best pet care ever, she always did playtime, brought Emily feathers to play with gave treats, fresh wet food and fresh water with ice cubes, just as Emily liked. Rebecca always sent pictures and videos with updates after each visit which gave me such a peace of mind my cat was in great hands and care. Rebecca is also the reason I was able to prolong Emily's last two years of her life before she cross the kitty rainbow at 20 years old! For two years and during the pandemic nonetheless. Rebecca came to visit Emily every day of the week and some days 2 times to administer home IV fluids and oral medication necessary for her supportive care. I would not have been able to do this without Rebecca's help! I was terrified with the vet told me this was my only option however, Rebecca stepped in and administered the IV medication, fluids, and oral medication. Such a blessing! She has always treated my Emily with kindness and a loving touch, and I will forever be grateful she was able to provide these things as part of her services. I highly recommend Rebecca for all of your pet sitting needs, and especially if you have an animal who requires any medication at home, oral or IV fluids of any kind. On multiple occasions she has misinterpreted my intent and sent me either page long texts or emails describing her feelings about something I said or did that she didn't like for various reasons. She is far too quick to fly off the handle before getting clarification. I thought this was a professional relationship but I have ended up spending way too much of my time having to manage communication. This is where things unraveled... On Aug. 19th, Liza texted me to say that her schedule slows down around 3-4pm and said that if I wanted regular walks for my dog, she can do them for really cheap. I didn't need the walks but figured "why not" since they were so cheap. This is key. I did not need the walks. I did not ask for the walks. Had she not approached me, I wouldn't have ever done these walks. We decided on every Wednesday. On Sept. 12th, Liza texted me that she couldn't do the walk due to a personal matter. I said fine. We had, however, scheduled walks for the next three days, so the next day I texted her to confirm she could still do those scheduled walks. My partner and I were concerned that she may need more time to deal with the personal matter and just wanted to make sure we didn't need to find another walker. In fact, this is exactly what I said "Good morning. Hope you're feeling better. So we have you lined up for the next three days and I just need to know if I can depend on you being able to walk the pups because we won't be able to come back to take care of them. If you're not feeling up to it, I completely understand. Just need to know so that I can make other arrangements if need be." Instead of just getting a yes or no, I received a text saying that she doesn't think she has done anything in the past to make me think she is unreliable and then jumped to the conclusion that I may want to completely terminate the service, asking me if I wanted my key back. It was really confusing and total overkill for what I thought was a simple text confirming service. I clarified by saying that this isn't what I meant and that I just wanted to know if she needed more time to deal with the personal matter. I got a long response about how everyone needs to take time off sometimes and that if I wanted recommendations for a different walker, she could provide them. Again, I WAS COMPLETELY FINE WITH THE TIME OFF AND NEVER SAID OTHERWISE. So once I again said I was just making sure, she confirmed service and completed service. I then asked for vacation pet-care in October and we arranged for such care. Yesterday I got an email saying we need to change our Wednesday's to another day because she is now overbooked. Since I didn't need those walks to begin with, I said we could just not do them. I got an email back about how she's been so good to me and given discounts but that apparently they haven't been well received so maybe we should just do standard rates from now on. I was fine with this so I responded with, "sounds like a plan." The reply I got was whether she should remove the October vacation care that we had previously scheduled. WTF. I responded that I don't see why we would do that since my plans hadn't changed but considering this weird communication that it might actually be for the best. The reply I got was very lengthy and went on to say how ungrateful I was and how generous those cheap Wednesday walks (THAT I DID NOT NEED OR SEEK OUT) were; she states that she offered that price to work with my limited budget. Again, WTF. See above. THEN she told me my entitlement was something she chose not to deal with and was now forced to terminate the relationship. Thought that's what I had just done but ok. I've had breakups with romantic partners that weren't this dramatic. If you choose to go with Pokey, I recommend you tread lightly and be very careful with what you say and how.

Clara walked my 2, high-energy border collies weekly for the entirety of our one year relocation to Chicago. My dogs are high-needs and tough to walk and she adapted to handle them like a pro. I was somewhat hesitant to go to a single source given some of the challenges I've had in the past with reliability in the schedules of my walkers, but Clara has fully changed my mind. She's never late, has only had to call off once due to being sick (and during a pandemic with a baby, I was grateful!) and takes care to navigate around the chaos (working from home on video, toddlers, giant messes, you name it!) that is always occurring at my house. We switched to utilizing Clara's service after we had to part ways with a local chain. Clara responded quickly to my inquiry, came and met our dog that weekend and was off running the following week! Our dog loves her, and excitedly greets her every day.

We've had 4 different walkers in the past 15 years for our twin terrors (yea, with the same mutts!…read more- sadly we lost one very recently however ) and Wendy beats all of them hands down. OK, I know there are alot of walkers but it didn't take us long to find that they are not all created equal. We've used both larger services and single-owner walkers and definitely prefer the latter. Why? Well, for one thing we only deal with one person. We know exactly who has our keys, who is in our house and who tends to our dogs. Wendy has been ultra-responsible and committed to us for the long haul. Especially for a couple of senior dogs, this consistency has been exceedingly important. We've also had absolutely no surprises. Of course the dogs love her. She's done everything we've ask of her and more. It took 11 years for us to find Wendy and we'll be sticking with her when the next pooch comes around.

Of course my darling runs in the opposite direction if you mention "walk" too early in the afternoon, even with her mom. But, once the leash is on, she is cooperative with Wendy, as much as she is with her mommy. I feel very comfortable with Wendy as a dog sitter too! She has stayed at my home, cleaned and changed the sheets without being asked to, and kept the house clean. My dog felt comfortable sleeping near her once she realized that she was the substitute "mom" after the first night. Wendy is a bright, responsible woman, not your ordinary dog walker. Yet, she loves dogs and they love her. So it's a perfect business for her. I highly recommend The Healthy Dog Walk!

My Boston is beyond attached and has epilepsy requiring a strict medicine regimen throughout the day. Between my anxiety of leaving him for hours without monitoring for his seizures and the anxiety I assume he must have felt with this sudden transition, Smart Paws has truly saved the day. I had tried Dog Camps in Chicago previously, but the absurd prices for rooms far too overfilled with dogs was something I was desperately trying to avoid. Smart Paws is amazing - they are so easy to schedule with on the fly, and the pictures and status updates from the walkers (specifically Abby if she ever reads this!!) each time they visit truly make my day. They administer Figg's medicine, take him on different walks each time allowing him to adventure, and always play with him and fill his water bowl after the walk. This is by far the fairest pricing for dog walking I've found in the city, and the walkers are top notch. I can go to work without a doubt in my mind that Figg is getting the best care despite the new "alone time" in his routine. Thank you Smart Paws!!!!

I don't know about other people's schedule, but i try to set mine up every time with the the can arrive an hour before or after your appointment, really makes scheduling a headache. There really shouldn't be a reason why you should be allowed to arrive up to an hour before a scheduled appointment, that is what throws everything off if they come early. Please in 2020 work on fixing this issue as i'm sure i'm not the only client who has this headache scheduling with you guys.
