Always love coming here, good buffet, pizza and food. Just the customer service is hit and miss lately and they got rid of the Beer? Thankful that this Happy Joe's still exists because there is no place that can create a taco pizza as good as Happy Joe's. We always order a large and it always comes with a bunch of taco sauce packets. Taco pizza is made of chips, lettuce, cheese, sausage bits, chunks of tomato, and pizza sauce. The chips used remind me of a Nacho Cheese Doritos, but each time we order it tends to taste a bit stale. When we order it to go, we tend to rebake it in the oven to add back a bit of crisp to it. For a party of 5, this was enough for us. Overall, we will continue to order our taco pizza here. Just dont have something like this back home, so its always a must. read more

I grew up eating here. I love this place. The new arcade section is great for kids and would suggest getting your child a birthday here with their private reservation rooms. I always come during either the lunch buffet or the Wednesday dinner buffet. Wednesday, dinner buffets are loud and busy, but never to the point there's no seats. Their Taco pizza is quite famous, and while good, I personally don't get the hype around it. I do love their pizza, and for whatever reason, their chicken nuggets are good. You can also never go wrong with the oreo fluff dessert and their cheesy breadsticks rival those of pizza ranch. I've been a fan of Happy Joe's and their taco pizza for decades now, and this restaurant is pretty much the same as the rest. They've got a large seating area, several private and semi-private party rooms, and a game room for the kids. The staff were very friendly, and our to-go pizza was ready inside of ten or fifteen minutes. The crust wasn't as good as I remembered, but the toppings were plentiful and very fresh. read more

I think I inadvertently ran into a Chuck y Cheese replica in Grand Forks, ND. I was driving around looking for a non-chain restaurant that I hadn't been to. A pizza place sounded good, because I wasn't overly hungry and could take it part of it home. On the in side it looked like any other pizza joint with wood paneling, etc, but as I approached the front counter, there was an ice cream bar and a prize room stocked with trinkets, similar to Main Event. The lady at the counter was friendly and gave suggestions as requested. I did find $13 for a small pizza a little pricey. They had an LJ size that was $5.45 to 5.75. I decided to get wings and a pizza. The boneless wings = 8 or bone-in =10 for $7.25. You can get them in 7 different flavors but one 1 or 2 can be used for each order. I chose Garlic BBQ and Sweet chili. It comes with Ranch or Blue Cheese in a packet. Both were decent, but I was expecting sweet chili to be spicy. I am in North Dakota, so I shouldn't be shocked. As for the pizza, I got the Taco Joes which seemed to be the popular choice. It was like eating nachos on pizza. It tastes much better with the taco sauce packets. At the counter was a touchpad that you enter your phone number and get free ice cream. It also states that after 9 meals, the 10th buffet is free. There were 7-8 choices of ice cream, consisting of Bubble gum, cookies and cream, mint chocolate, cookie dough, strawberry, sea salt caramel and a couple of other flavors that I don't remember. I got the cookies and cream in a cone and I enjoyed it even though the temperature was -13 degrees F. There were 3 party rooms and one game room to obtain tickets to redeem for prizes in the prize room listed above. They also give a 10% military discount. read more

Had my daughters bday party there and everything was top notch! Got the pizzas at the time i asked and same with plates pitchers and cups. They let us basically take over the back area and set it up the way we wanted. I wish i would've gotten the young girls name that was helping us thru the whole day asking for remote(twice), tokens, and ice cream. The food is okay at best. They use pre bagged cooked chicken breast for the salad and prepackaged off brand salad dressing. The garlic bread tasted freezer burned. The pizza is expensive and alright, but far from being worth twenty dollars for a medium. The buffalo wings, however, are pretty good and they have a large portion. All told I don't think my family will be coming back here as a meal for me, my wife and our five year old son should not cost over fifty dollars for mediocre food in a run down establishment. read more

We stopped at Happy Joe's on a long road trip from northern North Dakota to the Twin Cities. We wanted somewhere the kids could get up and run around and not feel so contained. They had a little game room which was perfect and the pizza buffet had a lot of options, like Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets for our picky eater. Food was good, restaurant clean and fun for kids. Management was awesome! We got a call about an hour after we left notifying us that we left a bag at the restaurant. Given we live 4.5 hours from Grand Forks, they took our address and offered to mail it to us! Great experience! read more

We love Happy Joe's! Whether we order to pick up or have it delivered they are accurate about the time it will take. The pizza is excellent and consistent (not like some other places where it can be excellent or awful). When we order pizza to go we always order it uncut so that the grease doesn't soak into the crust before we get it home and they get it right 100% of the time (the only place in town that can get this right!) which is very appreciated. This was a disappointment for our lunch choice today. We chose this restaurant as we were looking for a kid friendly restaurant to take the kids and who can resist the taco pizza? Well this was our first mistake! We got there at 1:00 and we all paid for and had the buffet - which was almost $50, by the way! However, they neglected to tell us that the buffet was almost over and they didn't refill any of the pizza or anything else for that matter. The dessert had been there for quite awhile and it was definitely picked over! To make matters worse I brought it to the attention of the staff and they just said "the hours are posted on the door", which they weren't. Lastly, as I was speaking with them, the cook dropped taco sauce on my brand new shoes and didn't bother with so much as an apology! My family and I walked in, first time, and was immediately greeted by worker yelling at us that that salad bar or whatever was no longer open. No worries I thought, probably just trying to let us know I case that was the main objective of our visit. It was not, so we sat down, wife, 7yr, 5yr and a toddler needing a high chair. No help at from staff when asked where the highchairs were. After finally finding one that was clean, we looked at the menu. No separate kids menu that I could find either on a hand out like most places these days, nor on a separate location on the regular menu. So I asked if they had one to which my reply was, "It's whatever's in the menu." Just to clarify there was only 5-9 people dining when we walked in. Rude staff and not clean.
