Went to Happy Joe's as my first stop, per usual, when I arrived to Moline for my annual trip. Ordered two large pizzas and a pitcher and the total came up to almost $60 so I asked if there were any specials or discounts. The lady behind the counter said "no" so I paid and sat down with the family and patiently waited for our pizza. While waiting for the pizza another guy came in to pick up his "to go" order and asked if there was a discount "for the guy from Lafayette, IN". A bearded man then came from the back of the restaurant and proceeded to give the customer a 15% discount. Not sure if I didn't know the right handshake or secret password. Food was decent. Staff was very friendly. Clean inside too! We played a game of mini golf after and that was tons of fun.

After all the hype this place gets from the locals, I was really excited to finally try it. We ordered a a large one-topping and a medium taco pizza for delivery and it was $40! Now, that is just ridiculous. So, then I figured it'd be super delicious if it's that expensive. WRONG. Not enjoyable. The taco pizza was the best of the two, although it basically just tasted like stale Cool Ranch Doritos. The regular pizza was boring and bland. I will say it's the worst pizza I can remember ever tasting. I prefer supporting local business, but I have yet to find a pizza place in the Quad Cities that is better than any of the national chains. And I've never had this problem anywhere else. read more

Happy Joe's kind of feels like a Quad City institution. It has been around for as long as I can remember and through various incarnations (Davenport's Jungle Bungle, or the former location in South Park Mall come to mind). They have been around forever because they serve good pizza. It is stitched into the fabric of the Quad Cities, and as a consequence I also feel like you pay a premium for the name rather than the pizza itself. This specific location is very small in comparison to the East Moline or Rock Island locations. There are a handful of booths and tables, but not much in the way of anything else. If you have 6 or less people this may be a good choice, but if your group is any bigger you may want to venture a little further to one of the other locations. If you have never had Happy Joe's Pizza, I would suggest ordering some variation of the Taco Joe Pizza. Happy Joe's claims to have invited this type of pizza and it comes with meat (usually beef, but you can request chicken), bean sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, crushed tortilla chips on top and taco sauce on the side. Again, It is great, but may be slightly expensive for your tastes. read more

I have loved BLT pizzas from Happy joes for years and I recently ordered one from the 16th St Moline location. Never will I do that again. My beloved BLT pizza was nothing like it is supposed to be. it was made like a regular pizza with some tomatoes thrown on top and mayo packets on the side. I called to complain and first I talked to a rude little girl on the phone that basically blamed me for not ordering it right. Then I spoke to the manager who told me that they have been making them like that for 40 years. I don't even think the BLT pizza has been around for 40 years. But basically I was told in not so many words to bad that's my problem not theirs. Very disappointed that my favorite pizza has been ruined by 16th st moline Location. read more

Forever a fight between my wallet and my taste buds. Personally, I don't think the pizza is worth the price. The pizza is good, don't get me wrong. I crave it every now and then. When I eat it, I enjoy it. But it doesn't blow me away when I have it. It doesn't make me melt in my seat. The kicker is, after working in the food industry, I know that the pizza they charge me $30 for costs them MAYBE $3. Too pricey for me. Sorry. As far as the pizza goes.. definitely not QC style(if you're looking for that) and definitely on the dry side. Tastes good, but need a lot to drink to help out. Worst pizza ever had many good ones from this place but today it was horrible! Called and complained offered me 25% off on the next one why would I want another one? No meat or cheese all lettuce and chips horrible will not order ever again. I am a huge pizza fan, but this place is WAY OVERPRICED. When I first moved around this area people recommended Happy Joe's and had only good things to say about this pizza. I ordered a small taco joe pizza and some how it came out to be $15-20? I was pretty surprised and hoped that AT LEAST it tasted good and was worth my money. It was good, but not great. The chips used on top were not high quality and tasted like cool ranch Doritos. NOT worth the amount of money I paid. read more

Yeahhhhhhhhh Boyyyiiiiieeeeeeeeee. When back in the QC, this place is a MUST for us. I feel like I was born and bred on this stuff- while my husband's family (also in the QC), they were a Harris Family (it is like the Hungry Hobo vs Arthur's debate). Yes, you may pay a little bit more but this isn't Pizza Hut. Go pick that shiz up yourself and you'll probably save $10! What I crave: -TACO PIZZA: I mean duh, right? They invented it. Pan crust pizza with taco meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, black olives. But just wait then you have to top that with sour cream and taco chips and plenty of taco sauce, this little ditty is the best invention. Ever. -Canadian Bacon and Sauerkraut. I know what you are thinking: Vomit. No, it is anything but however you do have to like kraut. It is dried out and crispy and it is so delish. Not all Happy Joe's are created equal. We actually like the one better off 23rd street- by the old Skateland and Jewel. The quality seems to be better as well as not skimping on the toppings. The location at 23rd also has an arcade for kids- I think I had a birthday or two there when I was younger because Happy Joe's is a crowd pleaser :-) And for those that say this place is overrated by the locals. --- Updated Review July 2013 --- I gave good ol' Happy Joe's a few more tries and now find they have once again managed to place me under their spell. I've reverted back to the classic pepperoni pizza and am now finding that if i get a pizza other than Happy Joe's, i regret my decision. I have decided that it's the quality of their cheese that makes them stand heads above the rest. So many of the other pizza chains, the mozzarella has no flavor and once it begins to cool down, gets that thick gummy consistency. Not Happy Joe's. Whatever blend they use (it's got bits of a yellow cheese mixed in) is so creamy and flavorful, it makes the whole pizza. So back to 4 stars... the fifth star is missing for me just because i wish there was something a little more interesting about the crust (and i wish they'd put more cheese on). But all in all, this is a great pizza. ------ I used to love Happy Joe's pizza - i grew up on it... and the taco pizza was amazing. When I moved back to the Quad Cities I was excited to have it again. I ordered a taco pizza for delivery and had raved about it to my friend. I was really surprsed at how expensive it was, but figured it would be sooo worth it... Boy was I wrong! It was nothing like i remembered. It was soggy crust and not the flavor i remembered. I was embarassed that i hyped it up so much. A few months later i figured i would give old Happy Joe's another try and ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. If that amount of cheese on there was extra, i would HATE to know what it would have looked like with regular cheese. I mean come on, for those prices you can afford to put some toppings on it! Even the sauce, it was so thin it was more like it baked onto the crust. Maybe it's just the Moline location.... growing up i always had it from the Bettendorf branch and it was amazing. I love Happy Joes! I don't live in the QC anymore, but I'm always making a stop there when I visit my parents! Their taco pizza is divine! I don't know what it is! It seems a little odd when explaining ingredients on a taco pizza, but it just works! I have my husband hooked too! This is definitely my favorite pizza place back home (in the Quad Cities). I live in Denver now but have to have this when I'm home visiting. The taco pizza is soooo good. Might be a little more pricey than other pizza in the area, but don't pay for delivery if you can help it, just go pick it up yourself. It's totally worth it. read more

My last experience, I ordered a specialty Delite Crust pizza advertised for $12.99 on the website...Was first told $26 and change, and when I questioned the price it went to $24, then to $22 and finally to the correct price of $16 plus change, which includes tax and $2 delivery charge. read more

I absolutely love happy joes, but this location is the worst happy joes I have ever been to. The service is HORRIBLE! They close at 10 and I walked in at 8 twice now and have been told they are closing because they did not have anyone come in over an hour when I watched a server serve a pizza!!!!!! Come onnnn. I gave it one more chance today for lunch and ordered the taco salad (half size with no onions because I'm allergic). She charged me and didn't bring me the original receipt and when I asked about the pricing because it seemed high she didn't know the answers. Well eventually I got my food to go and get to eating it... I don't think the server or cook took any consideration to give me what I asked. I opened it and found it was a full order and no taco sauce. But I was hungry so I took a couple bites and smelled ONIONS! I am allergic and now just wasted a 10$ meal. I am also a server and when someone tells me what they want I make sure to get them what they want! I am furious with this place and will no longer go here. read more
