A mediocre first experience, at best. The good: The ambience and cleanliness of the restaurant is great. They have great, friendly service and the food smells outstanding. Atmosphere is about as good as it can get being attached to a gas station. It is what it is. The bad: Meat quality in what I ordered was lacking. I ordered the beef kebab sandwich. Most of the beef felt chewy, and I got a large piece of pure fat/gristle that made me lose my appetite. I would hope that other dishes are checked a little more thoroughly for this in the future. The pita and vegetables were both tasty but when I hit the fat in it I didn't really feel inclined to continue eating it. Very unappetizing and unchewable. Overall: It seems like a good establishment, I think I just got something unusually bad. If I return I will probably stick with vegetarian options since the rest of the sandwich was ok. Waiting 25 minutes for that experience with the beef just doesn't really seem worth it. read more

This used to be our healthy, tasty go-to. I'm okay that the prices went up, since they've done that everywhere. And it's always taken awhile to get the food (due lots of call in orders??) but there are changes that will affect how much I go there in the future. 1. It is starting to look grimy and not pleasant to be in (it was kind of classy before, which is saying a lot for a place that looks out on a gas station): The kitchen equipment (the ends you can see from the glass in the waiting and dining areas (not seen while in the kitchen) are dirty with old food particles. There is a cover over the outdoor eating area nowadays, so it stays warmer which is a plus, but it also shows the grime on edges of the floor, rust on the heaters, and storage of a number of unused kitchen counters & large kitchen whatnots in the waiting and dining areas. Giant blue plastic trash/compost cans are the weights holding the canopy secure but add to the disarray. And, outside, old yellow weights, a huge ladder, and tons of bright orange cones all around the glass front and side make it look even more unpleasant. 2. You can skip noticing much of that if you go at night and/or get food to go, and wait in the car, which we often do so didn't really notice these changes as they were evolving, but now even the food presentation has changed. Our bowls used to come in wider, recyclable metal containers but now they're in narrower (but higher sided) all plastic, non-recyclable containers. Instead of the nice presentation of food & appetizers (allowing you space see and chose what to eat or what to mix together) it's all piled on top of each other, and you can't mix in the sauce or your food will spill out (best to bring it home and deconstruct it, or if very hungry, just start shoveling it in ;0) And, maybe because of the container change, they no longer add the advertised dollops of sauces on it. They now give another bit of plastic as a mini tub w/lid with a larger amount of mayo-like stuff, probably aioli (pleasant enough but not the same without the other dollops). Their rice has some kind of thin pasta mixed in it now. And while it looked pretty, a person I recommended it to was gluten intolerant so skipped their rice. I haven't yet been back to ask about what is in their rice, so it could very well be rice vermicelli... Also, the last time we ordered their homemade pita to go along with our baba ghanoush, it was just a whole cold pita, not toasted/warm/cut-that was just an added bummer. :0( CONCLUSION: All the non-recyclable plastic containers used, lack of advertised sauce(S) (they used to add multiple dollops of other things maybe baba ghanoush, hummus, something spicy, and smaller amount of aioli) in their bowls, the ingredients all piled on top of each other, and the unkempt atmosphere keeps me from recommending it anymore (the last person I recommended it to was not comfortable coming back). And it will no longer be our main go-to (although, we want to support this guy and will continue to check back). POSITIVE NOTES: The shawarma bowl I got the other day was still tasty (even w/out the aioli). The owner is friendly, and it is warmer to sit and wait or eat there these days due to a full coverage canopy and the heaters (although it might look best inside at night). They play fun, rockin' 80s music--often at an intense decibel, so waiting in the dining room or your car is more preferable on days when you're just not feeling it, otherwise feel free to enjoy rockin' out ;0, HELPFUL HINTS: Call in your order, then get there 5 min. or so before they say it will be ready so it's not cold. And double check for any sitting at the counter in case they forget to call your name (sometimes they're busy and don't realize you are waiting). read more

Since my time in the military, I have had a difficult task finding good Mediterranean food in this area to match what I experienced overseas. This restaurant hits the spot. Since it has opened, I've been there many times. Each time is just as good as the first. Very generous portions, great price and delicious food. My only complaint is sometimes when I pick up an order after lunch time, they have sold out of baclava. I love baclava. PS - One time, I got the last baclava and I ate it before I got home. This is my second time ordering from this place and the first time I ordered it was for dine in my food took about 30 minutes knowing this I decided to call in my order early so i can pick up. I called at 6:11 PM placed my order & I arrived to pick up my order at 6:50 PM, giving them plenty of time for my food to be ready because I had to go to work by seven. On arrival they said they could see my order and call but food was not ready. I'm not sure if it's a system issue but it was disappointing. They offered to make the food on the spot, and it would take another 10 minutes. I was picking it up for work and I didn't have time to spare. I ordered an hour ago. Growing up in the San Fernando valley I ate a lot of Lebanese, Persian, & Israeli cuisine. I really wanted to like this place since it's close to work and quite reasonable price wise. I've been three times now. The first time the gyro and the french fries were way over salted (after a 35 minute wait.) The second time, they had no "Gyro meat." So I ate somewhere else. The third and last time, my pronunciation was corrected when I ordered a Gyro. Per Miriam-Webster both Gi-roh and Yee-roh are acceptable pronunciations in English. 30 minutes later, I got a rock hard folded over pita with vegetables and some bizarre meat. I asked them why I didn't get the same meat as last time and they explained that they had 6 different kinds of meat. Not mentioned on their menu. I won't be going back. My boyfriend and I went here this past weekend for lunch. We did our usual and grabbed a plate to share between both of us, and we went with the beef plate this time. In the past, we have had chicken shawarma which easily a 10/10. The beef was just as good, if not better, than the chicken shawarma. The cashier was very friendly and helped us decide which salad we wanted. We tried the fattoush salad for the first time and it did not disappoint. I was a bit surprised to see the fries changed from the last time I had them, but thankfully they are still good and well-seasoned as always. We sat in their dining area which was in the shade and had plenty of seating options. I hope Happy Mediterranean will stay in Lompoc for many years to come! I have heard really good things about this new restaurant and we waited a while before we tried it. Couldn't wait for a good Gyro. Tried to order however its only available on Thursdays. So we had the choose other options. Wow. What a huge disappointment, If this is Mediterranean food then I understand with they call it the Mediterranean Diet. This was not good at all. First of all, the menu is the most confusing thing I've ever seen. You don't really know what you're ordering. We both ordered bowls, one chicken one lamb since we couldn't figure out the rest of the menu. I had the chicken which was the closest thing to chicken jerky that I've ever had. My wife's lamb consisted of 4 bit pieces of lamb that she said tasted ok. The rest of the bowls were a few chopped vegetables, no pita bread, extra $ for some hummus. Came here for the first time as we were driving by, and it did not disappoint. We ordered two gyros and chicken shawarma and it was delicious. It was our first time here and the owner Ednan, took our order and recommended a few things for us and had a humorous personally. Everything was delicious and our food came out on time, FRESH, and HOT. We eat a lot of Mediterranean food (from LA) and this was just authentic, flavorful, and simple. Overall the food was good. I went for the first time lunch today with my parents and son. My son and I shared shawarma sandwich wraps, chicken and beef. Both were good. The beef was a bit salty. My Mom got a shawarma plate and was a lot of food. Dad got a salad and big as well and could have split both between both of them. This business considers themselves as "Fast food" - I call BS. We waited for over 30 minutes for our food. This place needs to get their act together or will not likely be around for long. There was 4 people in there working. I have been there half a dozen times since they opened and it's always a surprise what I'm going to get because it isn't the same as when I ordered it the time before -- even when it's exactly the same thing. Today I got a lamb kebab bowl with some baba ghanoush on top when it was supposed to be a side order. That wouldn't be a big deal but I'm sharing my lunch with someone who doesn't like baba ganoush. I am a Mediterranean LOVER, so I had to try the spot out. Overall, I actually give the spot maybe 3 stars but because it's local, I don't wanna be a hater so I'm gonna put 4. The reason why I put it lower than I wanted to was because I ordered the chicken Shawarma bowl, but the chicken was not authentic . It was more like a shredded chicken that you woud put in a chicken salad or shredded chicken sandwich. So that kind of had me disappointed off the rip. Also, the rice that was inside of the bowl was giving me chipotle vibes versus Mediterranean rice. The rice was good. It should've been paired with a bean vs this food style. The veggies were good. The hummus was good. The garlic spread was good. I wish for the bowl they gave you some type of pita bread with it because it was $16. But the portion size was good. This is a new eatery I visited during a business trip in beautiful Lompoc. The service was great the food was carefully prepared using the freshest produce and freshly baked bread in the tandoori oven. I had a gyro wrap in tandoori bread. I started with a small order of falafel and an order of hummus. The garlic dip and the chili oils were bright and busting with flavor. I cannot wait to return and try more entrees. read more
