There's also a groomer on site and a few baths for self service bathing. We picked up some stuff for out puppy, took her suggestions as well. Loved coming in here and getting my dog washed from the getting into the ocean nearby! He climbed the steps into the wash tub and looked back for his usual bribing treat, which I did not have, oh no, we survived the wash luckily, and little did we know that he would get a puppucino cup to celebrate his wash!! This place was perfect for our stay at Pacific Beach with our dogs! It is walking distance from the beach and rather than dealing with all the sand in the car, it was so easy to wash the dogs here before driving home. I think the cost of the self wash station seemed more reasonable than other stores as well. The owners are extremely nice and friendly and it felt good to be supporting their business. All of their pet food and treats are high quality that you know whatever you buy there is top notch for your pets. What's more, even though we walked in without an appointment, they were able to help accommodate a groomer to come out on a Saturday to help cut my dog's nails. The whole experience with our dogs at this store was excellent - thank you Happy Pet!! read more

Update: Happy to say I received a call back from Martin, the store owner, and he made everything right remote which was great as I was not in the area. I definitely understand that mistakes can be made, we are all human after all, and that it is how we handle them that makes the difference. Super kudos to Martin for his quick attention to finding a solution. If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely be stopping by again The store was lovely, the cashier, Nick, was very nice. And I thought everything was great until I got home and opened this new bag of Farmina for my dog. I found that it was expired back in November. I immediately called the store to hopefully make things right. All I was told was that because the food was opened, that I couldn't return it. No offer of a refund, or exchange, or any attempt to make it right. I used to work in retail at a pet store and we would make sure that we did not have expired food on our shelves. If a product wasn't moving, we would regularly check for expiration dates so that we didn't sell expired food. Apparently Happy Pet does not hold itself to the same standards. I asked for a manager to call me back, but have not heard back. Called again today, no answer, so left a message and now will leave this review since my messages do not appear to be making it to management. Hoping they take this opportunity to make it right. read more

Stopped by today on our family walk to check this place out finally. The tubs look nice, the store is clean and Asher was super sweet and gave our dog a pup cup. Shop dog was polite and well mannered and we left with some yummy (and reasonably priced) treats for our girl! Will definitely come back for a wash. Groomed my pet for the first time and I will MOST DEFINITELY be coming back due to Nick's (the front desk man) charisma and politeness! The self grooming station is first time user friendly, and they even provide bathing products such as shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes, and a dryer for your fur babies. :) They also provide impermeable gowns to don prior to bathing them! Nice local pet store in our neighborhood. They have a whole wall of treats & table of chews. Another wall of pet food. They even have pet supplies in the middle & behind the counter. Nice guy at the counter. They accept card too. The treats i bought were cheaper compared to Amazon, so that was nice. I noticed the Tropiclean shampoo is cheaper than Petco too. This place is a gem! The four legged shop staff (Bella and Coco) AND the human owners were so darling and attentive. The shop itself is squeaky clean, well stocked, and I used the self serve dog wash to get my big stinky puppy all spiffied up/ fresh smelling again. I'd go back again just for the high velocity dryer, I've never gotten my dog so dry so fast! I can't say enough good things about this store and the groomer Jessica there. I take care for my fur babies very seriously, and so do they. You want a store with a personal touch, this is the place to go! They have always gone out of their way to help us find special food and treats for our animals special health needs. Jessica was so kind and compassionate with our rescue kitty that had matted fur too. I don't trust my animals with just anyone, so it's definitely high praise when I say I will be bringing her back in the future! We love this place! The products and the staff are superior, and we really love the grooming service. We have a 15 year old terrier mix who needs routine grooming. When our terrier was young, we tried a few groomers, including Petco, and were not happy with the way he was treated. So for many years we had a mobile groomer, but she retired early this year. Our little dog now has a degenerative spine and has no use of his back legs. Additionally, he needs to be sedated prior to grooming. The mobile groomers that I contacted told me they could not groom him if he could not stand on his own for at least 30 minutes. One mobile groomer said they could, but when they arrived, the groomer said he could not groom our dog. Since our boy was now sedated I started calling groomers, but I could not find a highly reviewed groomer who could groom him that day with his physical issues. And then I saw a very highly reviewed grooming service at Happy Pet. They found a way to get us in that day. And they did an amazing job. The groomer was so gentle and just did an outstanding job! We will never go anywhere else, and the cost was far less than a mobile groomer. If you want your pet to be treated with love and a gentle touch, and receive a beautiful grooming, we highly recommend Happy Pet in Santee! read more
