I used Dr. Ansari for years; he took care of my son's gerbils, my dog Sweetie, my dog Chico, my Westie Scotty and my lovely 2 dobermans. I cannot recommend this vet enough. While his prices may not be the cheapest, his care was excellent as well as his staff. One of my dobies had a tumor extruding about the size of an avocado, but when he operated, she had a tumor the size of a walnut and another one the size of a turkey breast. Sasha was a big baby, and between the care provided by Dr. Ansari she came through with flying colors. The dogs actually did not mind seeing the Vet because they knew he would be gentle with them. I have no idea why he is getting bad reviews, he certainly doesn't deserve them. If you want cheap, go elsewhere, if you want a caring Dr. who knows his "stuff" for your babies, Dr. Ansari is the one to go to. read more

I wish I had looked at reviews before I went. I have a foster pup that needs to be fixed. I brought her to Happy Pet Vet because their website advertised low cost spay. We had a 12:15 pm appointment. When we got there, I was told they were in surgery and it would be short wait. I was charged $45 for exam up front. At that time, I was told my pup needed the influenza vaccination. I asked the price and was told $47.00. I explained that I was paying for this foster because the rescue backed out. That I would be getting vaccination elsewhere. The waiting room is sparse, the only magazine was a 2017 National Geographic magazine. It was pretty warm in the waiting area and the seating was limited to a few wooden benches. Signs were posted around with sayings like: If you like our service, tell someone. If you don't, shut up! No begging, crying..pay your bill (paraphrased) We were finally placed in room close to 1 pm. Once we were in the room, they placed my foster pup on scale and tied her off with slip lead. The vet came in, took her temperature, listened to her heart and left. That's it...for $45.00. The assistant came back and quoted price of $365 to do the laser spay. That's 6 times the amount on their website! Granted the website states price of $60 is for 3-5 month old pups (same weight) and mine is 8 months old...but she is still a young pup and has not yet gone into heat. I paid the $40 for an exam to get my rescue dog fixed the doctor took her weights and told me she was pregnant (which she was not), then preceded to tell me that it would be $950 dollars to terminate the pregnancy and she needed more shots even tho she was up to date on shots. at that point i felt helpless and asked about humainly euthanizin her. ​My Aunt, who is a senior citizen, brought her 13 year old Yorkie here because he had a bump on his nose. After a brief look from the veterinarian, she was told that it was a cyst that needed to be removed surgically. The front desk clerk told her the procedure would cost $1500, but they could do it for $1200, and they could schedule him the following morning because he could potentially lose his nose if it was not taken care of. The following day my Aunt took the dog to another vet for a second opinion and after a physical exam, as well as blood and urine tests, she was told it was just a skin tag. She asked about having it removed and the vet said not only was it unnecessary, but considering his age (13), weight (4.8lbs), and preexisting condition (heart murmur), he may not survive a surgical procedure (all information his regular vet was aware of). They sent her home with a prescription for a cream and an antibiotic and told her the tag would eventually fall off on its own. I'm writing this review in hopes that no one else is taken advantage of, especially senior citizens who will do anything for their pets. These animals are like family members and it sickens me to think people are out here exploiting their emotions. Shameful! read more

I'm very disappointed with Happy Vets and Dr Ansari. I have been bring my pets there for almost a year. Each time they try to up sale me on items I don't need. they must be hurting for money. I scheduled my dog to be neutered and prior I was given one price. Then after the exam they quoted me another price this was suppose to included(i believe worming) I declined that. This morning when I bring him in they raise the price $45 stating that this was for flea prevention. because they have an infestation of fleas. if I decline, they can not be held responsible if my dogs get fleas. I declined it two days ago and declined it now. I paid the price I was originally quoted. When I get home I get a call and was told I needed to pay the $45 extra Dr was strict about that because that was the price for the neutering and no flea prevention. My dogs was already there. I am furious. I agree with the other reviews. Dr Ansari is staring to scam people. They knew damn well what I was quoted and because i refused all that other crap, they just stuck it on the procedure!!! I will not be using them anymore. I think because I didn't go for the worming, flea treatment and all the other BS they were trying to make me buy - they wait still they have the dog my money and then up the price. If your pet is sick or injured, please do not take your pet to this place. The staff is super rude. The lady at the front desk. I think her husband is the doctor they never give out their names. They will not do a full exam the lie to you and say that they did, but they didn't he charged me $120 for an exam when all he did was look at the cat through the carrier never open the cats mouth to see the fish and hook in her mouth but he knew that she need emergency surgery and charged $900 and some change. I told him that's ridiculous, then he persisted to argue with my 13 years old niece and cursed at her so I argued back with him and then he called animal control gave them a whole different story so I took my nieces cat up the road to a different vet that was super nice. The staff was wonderful. The doctor introduced herself and cared about her cat gave her a full exam in front of us, open the cats mouth saying that the fish and hook was only caught in the first layer of skin and said it's no big deal will give her anesthesia so she don't feel any pain and then gave her antibiotic to take at home and gave her pain medication for at home and with the procedure in the office visit in the medication only came up to $230 it's not really even about the money. It's about the fact that if your pet is sick or injured, happy vet will never take care of them the way that they need read their bad reviews those are real happy pet that it's just money hungry they raise the price on me and my niece three different times, without even opening the cats mouth and the doctor told us that the cat needed emergency surgery. The uncontested disciplinary action against Ansari is a matter of public record and is docket # DK2019-031. He was fined $2,000 for violating "Board Rule 573.50, Controlled Substances Records Keeping for Drugs on Hand, of the Board's Rules of Professional Conduct." This document was sworn & sealed on Jan 14, 2019. So this vet did not have records with respect to DRUGS! And the reason real doctors keep track of drugs? Why does the government track drugs? And who has the "filthy habit"? A so-called vet who does not track DRUGS (& was visited several times per document) or a citizen who rescues an animal? This man is an obvious crook. It was entirely apparent, had Ansari EVEN LOOKED, that the legs were broken. Post your awards, Ansari. Post your evidence of a degree. Tell us WHY the Veterinary Board disciplined you. Tell me why you never give itemized receipts and say that you don't know when a client asks you what is wrong with the pet. Person-after-person has reported very similar circumstances: exorbitant prices for NO services rendered. No itemized bills. We had an awful experience with this vet to the point that we will be contacting the Texas Board to file a complaint. Our dog had torn a nail and 'quicked' his front paw. The paw was no longer bleeding, but we needed the nail trimmed and the open quick cleaned. Our regular vet wasn't sure he could squeeze us in. We chose Happy Pets because they advertised affordable and accepted walk-ins. We were charged $95 for an emergency exam up front. The vet did a cursory exam (did NOT trim the fur or clean the wound to determine the extent of the injury. Our dog was walking fine and showing no distress). The vet suggested immediate surgery (4 pm) to repair the nail and cauterize the wound. A general anesthesia would be used and we could pick him up in 2 hours! We had concerns regarding general anesthesia due to our dog having had a seizure and our regular vet previously recommending against general anesthesia for him. We discussed the concerns and asked if he would be okay- the Dr responded 'probably'. We were then told the charge would be $650. We decided to wait for our regular vet. The Dr was clearly done with us at this point and he didn't even clean or dress the wound for our prepaid $95 fee. Our regular vet called as we were leaving and said he could take us. The nail was a clean break, not too close to the bed. He clipped it, cleaned it and dressed it in 10 minutes. We left with an antibiotic and pain meds. Total bill $57. Happy Pets wanted to perform unnecessary surgery. Despite what I've read in other reviews, we found the staff to be pleasant and friendly but solely focused on fees as opposed to the health and welfare of the animal. read more

I just wanted to share my experience with this place so others beware of this clinic. My cat has been having issues peeing on things and we also wanted to inquire about her getting spayed and declawed. We took her here labor day and the lobby was empty, yet they had an "emergency" in the back (3 people and nobody could help us until 20 minutes later). We waited patiently and finally got seen by Dr. Ansari ($45 pay up front). He proceeded to take a look at our cat after we asked him questions. He determined she needed a poop test because he "suspected" something was wrong with her internally. He got a sample from my cat and the results came in, he said that my cat had 4 different types of worms in her and that it needed to be treated immediately one of which the name was 'Giardia' which they said was really really bad . Of course at this point my family and I were scared for the health of our cat, so we asked how much it would cost for the antibiotics. The doctor deflected my question and said that we would get information about the declaw and spay after our visit. (I hadnt even asked about that, I wanted to know how much the antibiotics would be first!!), so that was it seeing the doctor which took all of 10 minutes. We head to the front to see how much everything will be for the day and the lady in the front (kind of rude) tells us that it will be $215 for her antibiotics and some cat spray!!! I couldn't believe it was going to cost this much. It was a bit high for me, but at this point I just wanted my cat to get better. So we inquire about the declaw and spay AGAIN and they tell me that it was going to be $1,058 for this procedure. At this point i was dumbfounded and thought to myself something is fishy here. I did not trust them one bit, so I asked for a quote sheet to show the work they did today and to give me a price sheet for my records so that I know exactly what maintenance and procedures my cat needs.... They did not want to give it to me. They said they could write it on a piece of paper for me... what good does that do?! So today I take her to another clinic named Garza Veterinary Clinic (they were amazing) and you wanna know what they tell me... MY CAT IS WORM FREE!!!.. these people at Angry Pets Vets is a scam and they were just trying to take my money. They were going to give my cat medication that could have been harmful for her just to make a quick buck! I cannot tell you the anger I had for these people when I found out the had lied. I am glad i followed my gut and went elsewhere. I am writing this review to warn others to STAY AWAY from this place. They will diagnose your cat with fake assessments just to make you pay them up front for anything youre having done. Oh and at Garza i asked how much for declaw and spay and they gave me a price of under $400. Needless to say this place is a scam. I'm appalled that this guy is still in business. He is the reason that some people don't go to the vet. He is excessively expensive and suggests treatment that is unnecessary. Honey went to see him feeling very sick and she was diagnosed with autoimmune disorder where her body attacks her red blood cells and platelets. Five hundred dollars later - she was put on steroids and was a bit better but started to go downhill fast. The cost was excessive compared to Palm to Paws but it looked like Honey was going to make it. A few days later Honey starts throwing up blood, difficult breathing and uncomfortable. She was rushed to this vet who suggested that he stabilize her for almost $600 overnight stay. After questioning he finally admits that her health is very poor and she wouldn't make it. Really - then why didn't you say that to begin with? Why did it take insistent questioning to get this information out of you? Sadly we lost Honey today. Our hearts are broken and she is missed but this "vet" was going to allow her to suffer overnight knowing that she wasn't going to make it so that he could get his $600. The drs horrible wife/Secretary lied continually saying the dr was there, then we watched him drive up 45 minutes later. He refused to xray her until she would stand on a scale, but she couldn't walk well (she's a 150lb bull mastiff) wasting more time. Finally, he advised that her stomach had flipped and we should put her down because he couldn't do anything else. When I called on Monday to see what happened, I was told they left early bc it was slow. This was after I tried to make an appointment the prior week and they told me to come to their weekend clinic. After I talked with the vet assistant, she said I could come in "now". When I arrive, I asked to speak with a manager to discuss a discount (10%) she tried to lie to my face and say they left early bc there was no power. No ethics, morals, no regard but, they'll take your money, no problem. Do not recommend. The employees seem 'slow' mentally, and the vet is rude af. There are signs all about the office saying 'don't annoy the doctor' 'don't complain about pricing' (the fees are outrageous. I was quoted over $500 to spay my dog because she's 'over 5 months' when you go into the exam room their are more signs saying 'do not take pics' 'you're not smarter than the doctor, he went to medical school' and 'good patients don't complain about pricing' they tried to sell me heart guard at $300 per year. The receptionist was rude to two people and they left while I was there for about 20 minutes. Previously I took my dogs to Pet Works Express on Westheimer, this is just a closer clinic, but I think we will make the trip regardless. None of my dogs, growled nor snarled nor have EVER but anyone, my 'Huge' dog is 30 pounds.... according to their scale, I'm not married so my mother in law paid for nothing, my aunt brought one of my dogs for me and she ALSO commented you were rude to someone in office during that visit and they left. 6 years ago I spayed my fur baby at this location when it was 529 Animal Hospital, today I spayed my second fur baby and I am very happy with the service and the doctor's attention. I went in last night to get her last set of puppy shots and scheduled her appointment asap due to the fact that she was in heat. Michelle was extremely helpful and nice and this morning Marci was very assuring when she told me my little good one was in good hands. As a fur mom I worried a little and decided to give them a call asking how my puppy was doing. I loved that the receptionist gave me an answer right away and told exactly where and how my puppy was. Picking her up I felt very anxious but the rest of the staff made me feel that everything went well before seeing my baby. I must add that their waiting area is very nice and welcoming. If I could give no stars I would. They just want your money. He is no diagnostician and couldn't tell me what he thought was wrong with my cat based on her symptoms and our description. He refused to even make an educated guess. Imagine going to a doctor and them saying I have no clue what could be wrong with you so I want to do a b c and d it will cost you the visit plus 400 for labs and another 1200to 1500 for scans but I have no idea what I'm looking for, (oh and by the way my cat is 18 yo.) My son took her to the vet. I had to insist on speaking with him once I heard about all the tests and cost. He was condescending, talked over me and told me he wasn't a salesman. If an "educated" person wants to do this and can't tell you what they are looking for based on symptoms, Run for the hills. I'm no vet but when I saw bloody urine spots on the floor my first thought was bad uti or kidney failure. I would have expected from a reasonable and educated person to make an educated guess, like hmm, I think she could use some fluids and antibiotic and if that doesn't work let's do further work up or I'm sorry she's in kidney failure and she is old and not likely to survive etc. Thankfully my instincts were right. I told my son to pay the $85 exam and get the hell out of there. We went to another vet who without touching her said oh that poor girl she's dehydrated. She picked her up and said her bladder was full and she was badly constipated. Hmm just by looking and touching? Ultrasound to confirm, antibiotics on board, subcutaneous fluids for dehydration, medication, labs, exam and urinalysis. Wow! So nice and knowledgeable. All for $175. Oh I almost forgot. The first vet said he heard a heart murmur and wanted to work that up too. The second vet heard it too and said let's take care of the most important now and deal with the rest later. She probably would not have survived the night. I'm happy to say my kitty looked like she was a 5 year old cat instead of 18 and dying when I got home. Update!! Anyone else getting nasty messages on the negative posts for this Vet??? Apparently I'm lying because I still have Stafford listed as my address and supposedly that means I have never been here. 100% true post. My credit card statement will prove it! I am completely dissatisfied with the level of service I received this week. I brought my golden doodle back in to Happy Vets as they had provided great care for her in the past. I took her in due to itching all the time. It was recommended by them to switch her to THEIR pet food. 25lb bag I was told was $100, after I reviewed the receipt a day later, I had to call them to email the itemized receipt to me, I was charged a "package" deal of $188.00, for 25 lb bad of Hills dog food, two stainless steel bowls, a small of Hypo dog treats. I was floored when I discovered this. The Hills dog food I could have purchased for $123.00 on line. The dog treats online were $12.99 and the probiotic was $23.00, after I was told they didnt charge me and it would have cost me $55.00 and that they undercharged me. Do not take your pets here. I took our cat here to get her shots and get spayed and I left her there and only to find out hour and half later that she passed away. They said she passed away because she had blood in her lungs. When I took her up there the Vet did a examination on her and missed that she had fluid in her lungs. I have read so many reviews of this place on Google and Yelp, and I am just so confused. 5 stars, no stars, love this place, worst vet in the city. I'm kinda starting to think maybe Dr. Ansari just didn't like the people who reviewed him badly in the first place, but luckily, he likes me and my cats just fine. I found a stray kitty and took her here for a check up, shots, and flea meds. He was so cute how he was awwing over how pretty she was. He was very kind and sensitive with her. I don't remember the exact price of the check up and shots, but I do know it was about $40 cheaper than Fry Rd clinic. The girls behind the desk there are always extremely friendly to me, always asking about my cats by name, always wanting to chat about them. While the stray kitten (now my new baby) was there getting spayed, one of the techs said she would take her out of the cage all the time and give her love and attention. I doubt they do this with all the animals, so I'll just count that as me being lucky to have adorable kitties. I have experienced Dr. Ansari himself to be very calm and patient with all of my concerns and questions. The do have extended hours, which could be a life saver for someone who is always working. If you have an appointment, there is usually not a very long wait, like maybe 5 -10 minutes. There was only one time that I had to wait 45 minutes, but it was because there was a dog who came in who had an emergency of some sort. But that's another thing that I love, emergencies get priority. Baby cat had an emergency, and I flew up there and they took her back immediately. I would have been pissed if I would have been made to wait till the next opening. I would not say this place is over the top expensive. Like I said, shots and check up was the cheapest in the neighborhood and he made a deal for an $80 teeth cleaning, when that could cost upwards of $200. The killer is if you have an animal that is constantly sick (addressed in next paragraph!) I've spent over $1000 here in the past 2 months on one kitten on her various tests and operations. One thing I can't get off my mind though, is every time I bring the baby kitten in, she gets an infection. On her first visit, he diagnosed her with an ear infection, after her spay, she got a very serious infection in her incision, and now the day that she got her stitches taken out, she's got an eye infection. I don't know if she's just a sickly cat or if there is something going on in this place. I'm honestly a little nervous to take my 8 year old here to get his teeth cleaned. Not only because I can't afford another freakin vet bill, but he's so old, who knows what could happen to him. So, I doubt I cleared it up for anyone else who's totally confused by the mixed reviews. It's hard to take a chance somewhere when your pet's life is at stake, but I would go ahead and recommend this place. Dr. Ansari and his staff seem decent, they're nice, and it's cheap. I've seen some bad reviews here but my experience was very different. my dog needed emergency surgery for an infected uterus. Dr Ansari didn't schedule for the next day, he took her right from my arms and into surgery. he explained all possible scenarios and price ranges and he called me about five hours later letting me know how things went. They kept her for 6 days in recovery but allowed me to visit daily any time I wanted to. When I picked her up I expected to be charged the max that I was quoted but I was actually charged the minimum. the staff was friendly and Dr. was direct but compassionate. If you want to be talked down to loudly and accused of being a liar, then this place is for you. The guy named Ansari, (I don't consider him to be an actual doctor) has no people skills or animal skills for that matter. He will mishandle your pet and then when the pet reacts in a negative way because of his mishandling he will then yell at the owner as if it was the owners fault for his own shortcomings. I would not recommend this place to anyone, please spend your money elsewhere as they are really high priced but lack the competency to perform services that warrant such high prices. If you need shots for your dog I would recommend the vanguard mobile vets who do such a better job for a much cheaper price. read more

I contacted 4 other Vets and all 4 agreed that the prices charged were outrageous. Example: Meds: others charge $20-25 and I was charged $90, a 1 oz bottle of solution $12-15, I was charged $80. Basically I was price gauged by $270. I tried to contact the VET, but they refuse to respond. At the time I checked out, they could not give me an invoice. It took 3 days before I could see what I was charged for. This did not seem right to me and the more I thought about it, I realized that $540 does not seem reasonable, so that is why I called 4 other Vets. read more

Look everyone, don't believe everything you read. I have known Dr. Ansari for over 25 years. My toy Eskimos have had multiple issues through their lifetime. When one needed specialty care, he sent me with all my files downtown Houston, those docs were super impressed with his detail and care. It made me feel so good. I knew I was in good hands. So when you want the best care, he is the one. Vets are doctors and they are not cheap! If you want to best for your pet, you want someone good. Their surgical suite is top of the line. Money hungry vet doctor. Not going here again. Employees are nice, but I can't pay for nice employees; the fees are outrageous. The doctor needs to stop the outrageous fees; the business practice model he is using is not competitive with other vets. I know one just down 529 that is doing everything RIGHT. I am BEGGING all pet owners to PLEASE NEVER VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! I Initially came in because my dog has been spitting up a clear liquid. The male vet who is proclaiming to be the doctor (in which I've never encountered such unprofessionalism in my life) does not know what he is doing! Upon my dog's and I arrival into his office, he asked me a series of questions in which I was trying my best to be totally honest and upfront with him. He asked when my dogs last series of shots were and I told him I needed to check my email to verify and give him the exact dates. I began to check my email and when I look up from my phone, the doctor states that there is a strong possibility that my dog has pancreatitis and that he needs to draw blood and the cost for him to draw blood is $185 on top of the initial $100 exam fee (but they never stated what the exam fee entails). I asked the male how did he come to this conclusion and he states that my dog has extreme amount of pain in his stomach and I said how do you know this.....he replies and says that he touched my dog's stomach!!!!! I am a Teacher, so of course I begin to look up the signs and symptoms for pancreatitis to see if I should go ahead and go through with letting him draw my dogs blood. I immediately see A LOT of discrepancies in the symptoms of pancreatitis in dogs and what my dog needed to be treated for. The first thing I asked the doctor that I saw online, was the temperature of my dog. He replies back in an extremely aggressive manner "NORMAL!" I continued to be calm with him, and then I state to him that online it says that your dog would have a loss of appetite and become extremely lethargic. I told him that my dog has been eating and has had his normal amount of energy. The male then proceeds to go off on me and state that if I want to diagnose my dog from online then I could get out!!! Ultimately, I asked for my dog to be removed from his table because I did not want to be talked down to or treated in this manner when I am paying for a service! Things got sooooooo out of control that I had to call 911! The male refused to give me any type of documentation or recommendations for my dog for me to take my dog elsewhere. I used this vet a few times mainly because of price and everyone else was booked. Today I truly got a glimpse of how rude and unprofessional the Dr. is. He told me that I was a bad mom because I had not sold/sent my dogs pups to their new homes. He said no one wants a puppy with no puppy face. My pups are 7 weeks old, first of all! Secondly, most vets and everything I've read said 6-8 weeks, preferably 8 for nutritional reasons and Lessons to be learned from mom. My concern wasn't his opinion about when they should be sold but the health of my pup. They lost custom for sure. read more
