For nearly two years, our family has relied on this office for both orthodontic and general dental care for our three children. While we are pleased with the clinical outcomes of the orthodontic care, the consistent administrative mismanagement and customer service issues over the past 8-9 months have been exceptionally frustrating. Our concerns include: * Patient Misidentification: During a scheduled simultaneous cleaning for both daughters, only one was initially called back. After a 30-minute delay, inquiry revealed they had mistakenly called back another child with the same first name. This lapse in verifying patient identity raises significant safety concerns, especially when considering more complex procedures. * Scheduling and Service Coordination Errors: Following a combined orthodontic and dental cleaning appointment for our son, we returned home only to receive a call inquiring about his missed dental cleaning, which was supposed to have been completed during the same visit. * Difficulty with Follow-up Appointment Scheduling: We have repeatedly encountered issues securing timely follow-up orthodontic appointments. What should have been a 3-4 week interval was told to stretch to 6-7 weeks due to lack of availability. Addressing this required direct intervention from the office manager after raising concerns, highlighting a fundamental problem with scheduling capacity or management. The office manager's explanation--that patient follow-up timing shouldn't be told to patients, but rather scheduled by office staff as soon as available and that non-traditional braces doesn't effect treatment--is contradictory to the sequential nature of orthodontic care and suggests scheduling availability inappropriately influences treatment planning. Adequate scheduling blocks, particularly for case-by-case orthodontic appointments, seem necessary, and if availability is consistently limited, it points to potential staffing or space constraints, which should be addressed before accepting new patients. * Billing and Insurance Verification Issues: With only a few months remaining in our son's treatment, we discovered that our initial cost estimate was incorrect because the office failed to verify our insurance coverage as promised by the financial coordinator. They lack documentation of any such verification. Consequently, despite paying the originally quoted patient portion in full, we are now facing an additional balance. When confronted with this significant oversight, we were advised that as patients, we should have personally verified our insurance coverage rather than relying on the office's assurances and good faith estimate. In summary, while the clinical care provided by the orthodontic and dental professionals at KC Braces + Kids has been satisfactory, the consistently poor office management and administrative errors make it impossible to recommend this practice. We plan to transfer our family's care elsewhere as soon as our son's braces are removed.

The office staff has always been very helpful, kind, and respectful to me. Even though I am not the account holder of the older two girls (I am their step mom), they worked with me and the account holder so that I am able to handle the account as I would be able to handle my own child's. They have been clear with all their treatment plans, and my children HAVE been seen by the Dr himself, as I have met him and am pleased with how he treats my family. I can't say much in regards to the retainer experience or after care, but I will surely update as that happens.

I am so mad at myself for not seeing through the lines on this place. We started out with Dr. Burelson as our orthodontist, over a year later there was sudden sale of the practice, we found out later that apparently the doctor would stay in his private office all while those of us please? under the influence in his office while his unlicensed techs were the ones treating our children! Parents were never allow d back into the treatment area, should have been my first clue. Given the location of the office being in a fairly wealthy actually very wealthy neighborhood I thought surely this professional knows what he's doing and can adequately treat my child's situation. WRONG. The quality of care is so poor after spending $5800 and 3 years for nothing, we are back to square one and she will need to be rebanded. Her care plan was estimated to be 18 months, but that turned into, 3 years later we are being told that the previous orthodontist who sold his practice screwed up so bad that it can't be fixed, or made to look or feel any better than a less than subpar smile due to the orthodontist's, both of them, failing to tell us that in order for her bite to come together properly she should have began by having 4 teeth removed!!!!!!! Yes, you read it right. To boot, we were assured they would reband her for free within one year given the very poor job the first ortho did, but conveniently, when we went back for a consult for reband, they made sure to twist the situation accusing me of disrespecting his staff so they did not have to reband her at all. Never EVER go here, many other competent individuals in our area that won't leave your teeth in worse shape then when started.
