Paul Chilopoulos was communicative, professional, respectful, and friendly. He did a great job overseeing a deep pool at a party with 15-20 sets of parents and infants cycling in and out. We hosted an end of school year party for the 4th grade class and lifeguards Paul and John were priceless in helping keep the children safe so the parents could mingle and catch up with each other. They were on their feet the entire party, circling the pool, calling out any unsafe behavior, while also allowing the kids to have FUN! After the party was over, our son said, "I bonded with Paul! This is a review for at-home swim lessons. I purchased a package of 6 at-home swim lessons for my toddler son, paid everything upfront, and scheduled them all over a month in advance. I live in Long Beach and when I spoke to a woman from Happy Swimmer's over the phone, she told me they had multiple swim instructors that serviced my area that were available. 2 days before our first scheduled swim lesson, Happy Swimmers let me know that the original Instructor was no longer available and they needed to reschedule my first lesson in order to assign a replacement Instructor. I said this was okay and agreed to the revised schedule and replacement Instructor. Then the day of our rescheduled lesson, the replacement Instructor never showed up. When I contacted Happy Swimmers, they said there had been a miscommunication with the Instructor and apologized. 2 days later they told me they could no longer find any instructors for my dates and cancelled/refunded all of my booked sessions. This was frustrating as we had been planning on this for over a month and paid everything in advance. Happy Swimmers clearly does not have a reliable staff of Swim Instructors and is not organized in running that part of their business. read more

Not only did they answer all my questions in advance of my booking, but once I made my reservation, they were very clear and helpful in how it all goes down. Once we get our lifeguard's contact information, he was very professional and courteous. Alex was on time and professional. He made sure to keep all the kiddos pool safe during our party and did a great job of surveying the pool constantly. All the parents at our party were very appreciative of the service and happy Alex was there to help keep an eye on their kiddos. If in doubt, book it...you won't regret it. We threw our first birthday party since 2019 and first held at our home with a pool. We hired a Happy Swimmers lifeguard because while I can be responsible for my own kid in a pool, I cannot be responsible for multiple kids, and these days most parents drop their kid(s) off at a party and return when it's over. I seriously cannot say enough good about the lifeguard that was sent to us from Happy Swimmers. He was on time, he is pleasant and completely professional, he was helpful and once the kids went into the pool, he never took his eyes off of it. We were entirely comfortable hosting other guests without a second of doubt or worry. I have never had to hire a lifeguard before, but if all Happy Swimmers lifeguards are like this, we are all in very good hands. read more

Happy Swimmers is AWESOME. Jenn and the team at Happy Swimmers went above and beyond for my church group and family camp. We had originally gone with another lifeguard service, and they didn't show. We had 50 kids sitting with their swimming gear, but couldn't touch the water. I frantically reached out to Jenn at Happy Swimmers, and Jenn performed a miracle. They found me lifeguards for my event in under an hour! We had two lifeguards show up in a timely manner, with all of the county's required certifications for lifeguard. Christina in the Happy Swimmers office held my hand the entire way, keeping me updated on who was coming out, and I was instantly put at ease. This is the first time taking the First Aid/CPR/AED class with this group. The class I attended was in a condo complex and there was plenty of parking on the streets. I was greeted at the entrance by a staff member and directed to the condo's community room. The presentation was great, learning the techniques were simple and easy. I highly recommend the class. The only negative comment would be that when I arrived the room was very hot. It did cool off a bit but not enough for me. I ended the class sweaty. read more

I hired Happy Swimmers lifeguards for a private home event on the 4th of July. Each year has gotten more and more worrisome as we have grown and our friends families have grown. The pool is now regularly full of kids and although we have watchful parents, it only takes a second. To have Happy Swimmers' lifeguards there literally took the knot from my stomach and the relaxed state of the guests was palpable. There no price tag on knowing your kids are safe. My 5 year old daughter and 5 year old nephew had swim lessons this summer. They were always excited to go for their lessons. The teacher was very patient with them and made it very fun. The teacher was very flexible with his time because we had to change locations and time for our lessons. My daughter learned to swim and my nephew gained confidence to put his face in the water long enough to try to swim. I would recommend this company for my friends. read more

I have never left a yelp review but I was so pleased by this company that I felt the need to. I did my CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding recertification through Happy Swimmers, and it was by far the most effective training class I have ever taken. I now feel confident in my skills which was something I was lacking. I was taught by Jenn and Chelsea. They are both really passionate people who do everything they can to help you succeed and retain the information. And they passed out free pocket masks at the end! For anyone who has a pool party coming up and needs lifeguards, I recommend this company, simply because their lifeguards really know what they're doing, just based on the training I received. read more

We booked Debbie through Happy Swimmers to lifeguard our baby shower pool party and she was great! Not only did she just watch over the pool, she interacted with the kids and helped them with their swimming techniques so we got a bit of a swim coach and a lifeguard in one. She looked the part with a full lifeguard uniform and flotation device so the kids knew to pay attention to her. All of the parents thanked me for having her there, the party was much more enjoyable knowing she was watching the kids, and I would definitely hire her again. read more

I have a toddler and a pool, both of which means trouble for any parent. Since my kid loves the pool but is not yet water-safe, I called Happy Swimmers to schedule some private lessons for him in our pool. I was able to schedule everything online and his swim instructor, Karissa, was very flexible on the time and dates I wanted. Karissa was very sweet and patient with my son and clearly a very good swim teacher. She taught him how to get in and out of the pool, kick his legs, and monkey-walk around the edge of the pool. And that was just the first 30-minute lesson. Although the swim instructor was great with my son, he started to throw major tantrums before each lesson. The problem is that he refuses to get his face wet in the pool (an OCD issue that I blame on his father). So, after only a few lessons, I had to cancel the remaining lessons since it was clear that my kid was not quite ready to learn anything else. Oh, well. There was no problem with getting a refund and they were very understanding. I'm guessing that I don't have the only 2 year old with water issues. The people at Happy Swimmers are wonderful to work with, very flexible, and reasonably priced. When my son is a bit older and ready for lessons, I won't hesitant to call them again. read more

We ordered a 6-session private swim package for our child, fully expecting to do additional lessons. Unfortunately, we stopped after the 5th lesson and have no plans to renew. The main issue was that our swim instructor was so flaky. She was nice enough. But, she was late to the first lesson and kept rescheduling others. One was due to her being called in for another job, another was a vacation, and yet another was visits with her family member. To be fair, we rescheduled a lesson ourselves. We had one lesson left and a tight schedule. We raised the scheduling issues with her and asked her politely not to do any more reschedulings. Later that same week, she texted us that she'd be a few hours late, and then texted us saying that she needed to cancel. We then decided that we didn't want her services any more. We called the main office asking for another instructor, but they didn't return our call. We left a few messages and after about a week, we finally got in touch and they refunded the cost of the remaining lesson. 3 Stars means "a-OK." Accordingly, they get a few stars for being OK, but they certainly don't deserve a perfect rating. Subsequently, we started lessons elsewhere. The contrast is useful. The new instructor is just as nice, but my daughter's making faster progress. The rate is cheaper, and the instructor is prompt and professional. No drama, so nice. So, Yelpers, look around, there are good options out there. read more

I booked a lifeguard for my child's 9th birthday party Saturday (1-4pm) as there was going to be 15 or so kids and wanted to have extra set of eyes as well as someone in case of a emergency. I found this company online and decided to book. My card was charged immediately as well as a "RUSH" fee even though i booked 73 hours before event but I was fine with that. Everything was set. On day of party no one showed up and there was no phone call. Around 1:15 I tried calling the the phone number and got a automated machine which got me to no operator or person to explain no one is here. I sent an email as there wasn't much I could do and I watched the kids. At 3:47pm I got a phone call from Austin as he just got had read my email however he was on duty and couldn't chat with me long. He was very apologetic, embarrassed, and polite however I obviously wasn't pleased. At 7:09pm that evening he replied to my email again apologizing and being polite as well as notifying me that I will be getting a full refund. On Monday morning I received a call from Laura in the main office. She saw a missed call from my number over the weekend and was following up if I needed any services. I explained to her what happened and she too was shocked and also said this hasn't happened before. She apologized as well. The bottom line is that we are human and we make mistakes. I really wanted to vent but they handled the mishap very well so I couldn't. The only reason that I wanted to write this bad review is because there was no way for me to contact someone during booked hours for an event to handle a situation like this. Things happen whether it be a no show, or god forbid a problem during an event, regardless there should be some sort of contact available during booked events. Personally I would not use this company for my future use but that is only because of the unlucky circumstances and the fact my child was looking forward to having them at our party. Other than that they were very apologetic and embarrassed. read more

Held a pool party in my back yard for 20 kids, some didn't know how to swim. Fortunately, I was able to enjoy myself as the hostess and not worry about my kids or the other kids who didn't know how to swim. My company held a pool party at a private residence and I realized - 2 days before the event - that we forgot to hire a lifeguard. I submitted a request on the Happy Swimmers website and gave them a call. They were able to schedule a lifeguard the same day. They followed up with an email and a call from the young woman who was our lifeguard, so we knew we were on their schedule. The day of the event, the lifeguard showed up at least 10 minutes early as we requested. She was professional, super nice, attentive and no one drowned. I'd definitely use these guys again! This is our 3rd year of lessons through Happy Swimmers. We live in South Orange County and our instructor, Trisha Commons, come to our house to teach our three kids now 8, 5 and 3. I'm amazed at how much progress she makes with them. All three kids are now swimming length wise across our pool and they love swimming. My kids are still little so I still watch them very closely in the pool but I feel so much better knowing that if they fell in that they would be able to swim to safety. I know she also lifeguards as well. If we ever have a swim party, we will definitely have her watch the kids. If you have a pool, use Happy Swimmer! Its worth the money. I am kind of shock because of how AWFUL this company/ customer service was... I was trying to do the responsible thing and get a lifeguard for my son's school year end pool party, which we were hosting. The life guard had absolutely no people skills, arrived- behaved in an odd manner toward me, I wasn't sure what was wrong with him- I couldn't make out what he was saying.... I shrugged it off because I always try to see the good and he seemed ready at least to life guard which was all that mattered to me.... the kids were 12 years old and were smacking each other with the pool noodles. The life guard TOLD MY KIDS AND HIS FRIENDS FROM SCHOOL OFF, and the pool party was over in 26 minutes flat. He LITERALLY vacated the pool of kids. At a pool party. He told the kids that they "by now should have the morals and ethics..." and the weird weird speech went on from there- so I was so embarrassed by the way he was berating them that I attempted to gently "guide" his attempt at instructing them by saying "hey guys, listen up to his rules okay?" And I told the lifeguard, "now, what are the rules please" so that the kids would understand clearly what was required of them in the pool..... THEY WERE 12 years old.... it's CALLED A TEACHABLE MOMENT. Needless to say, every single child got out of the pool because the lifeguards approach was incredibly "off" and "awkward." The lifeguard said to me "shall I be on call here in case they wanna come back in?" But the kids were done by then and the party was pretty much over in my mind.... I was obviously pretty shocked and upset. I called the company right away. The support/help line did have a decent human being with sensibility on the other end who was also obviously pretty shocked.... and they told me THAT I WOULD BE RECEIVING A REFUND." Which made a whole lot of sense to me!!! Hello! The "owner," named "Jenn" who is a very not approachable person in his/her tone on email sent a note saying we wouldn't receive a refund because the lifeguard in his/her opinion behaved appropriately and because the lifeguard told him that he reminded me TO PUT A RUG DOWN SO THE KIDS WOULDNT SLIP! (You can't write this stuff!) okay so I couldn't get the owner on the phone (thought better not to get into the emailing back and forth thing) and attempted via text to set up a call with him through the original person I was dealing with via call/text - i explained my dismay and I have now received yet another email from the owner of happyswimmers saying that he heard I texted his employee 14 times (lol, thanks buddy for the gas lighting vibe...) and that he has saved 76 lives in his company. That may be so JENN but your company is called "happy swimmers" and we didn't have happy swimmers at our pool party. We had NO SWIMMERS. So saving lives is great but also so is having kids in the pool at all at ones pool party, so thanks for the L... this was a total fail on a lot of levels- some not even mentioned, and the biggest fail here is that you were too proud (or cheap?) to just go ahead and refund your incredibly UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. I do NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!! I SO regret that I put my faith in them for our special day. read more
