We went on the Harbor Breeze whale watching cruise and saw over 300 dolphins swimming right next to the boat it felt like a scene out of a movie. And yes... we even spotted whales! Before we departed the harbor I figured seeing whales isn't guaranteed I was just going to be happy seeing all th dolphins. BUT to our surprise we seen so many humpback whales, it was beautiful! What a fantastic way to show off our beautiful Long Beach harbor! This 45 minute guided scenic tour was a full package. We sailed on The Christina. Our captain (sorry I forgot his name) gave us a little harbor history on the Queen Mary amongst other things. We saw a cruise ship, freight ships, sea birds and so much more. We saw two feeding frenzies of dolphins , 600 + dolphins!!!, but didn't get lucky enough to see a whale. Price over the weekend was $15 for Seniors and $20 for Adult. This is for a 45 minute Harbor Tour. You can also get a ticket for parking validation. The Whale watching tour is longer and from what I heard it is not that exciting. Overall, this a must do experience where they circle you around Long Beach, past the Queen Mary, towards the man-made Islands and back to the docks. The weather was nice, they sell alcoholic beverages on board as well as snacks, candy, and chips. The views were pretty amazing and you get to see the terminals as well as the beaches. read more

I went on a 45 minute narrated tour and it was a great deal for a great price. The team was nice. From the ticket booth to the people who were on the boat. This was a nice experience especially for the cost of the ticket. We saw "whales" which was a couple of pods of a couple hundred dolphins! Which was amazing! but we didn't get to see any whales, no humpbacks, orcas or blue whales which was sad. Beautiful ride out into the ocean a bit cold but when we saw the feeding frenzy with all the birds and dolphins and whatever else was under the water we couldn't see was just amazing. If I lived there I'd probably go on the tour weekly. read more

I took my seven year old daughter on the whale watching boat, but told her we might not see anything. She was totally happy just speeding along on the boat. BUT we did end up seeing a few "lazy" whales just loafing around near the surface. And we saw a group a dolphins so large and active that they looked AI generated. There were a few seals swimming around with them, too. Very cute! Make sure you wear a warm jacket and consider a hood or a scarf. It gets cold, but there are warm areas if you prefer to sit inside. read more

While on vacation, I decided to go to Long Beach and do a boat cruise. I originally wanted to do the whale watching cruise, but I was short on time. I'm glad there was a 45-minute tour. It's also a great option for people who have never been on a boat and aren't sure if they get seasick. I suggest that if you want to hear about the history of the harbor, you go to the top of the boat. We were sitting downstairs, and it was difficult to hear. The best 40$ ever spent! Super easy to buy tickets and to choose a date, parking is easy to find as the dock is right next to the parking garage which is only 8$ for 3 hours, easy to find the dock and the booth in which you get your hardcopy ticket from, the employee was super nice, all you need is your confirmation and id and takes less than 30 sec, you then wait by the dock which was the hardest as the excitement was building up. There are frequent announcements that let you know what is going on and how long it will be until the next boarding. You then board the boat super easy process, no assigned seats so you just get to pick I recommend sitting in the front of the boat as when something is spotted the front of the boat usually has the best view but no matter where you choose to sit you'll get a view! I was sitting towards the back of the boat but still got a view of the whale. The crew was extremely kind and informative as they'll answer questions and sharing interesting facts regarding the sea life we'll see and just informative the whole ride. It took around 30-40 minutes to start seeing signs of a HUMPBACK WHALE!!! The crew announced it by letting the people know where it was exactly using clock direction! Everybody was nice aswell and just taking in the beautiful whale we then stay near the area for more sightings. Got super lucky and saw the whale breaching multiple times! Also got to see 2 rafts of sea lions and was just an amazing experience overall and look forward to bringing more people!! read more

I went on a Friday cruise and had a good time. The crew was efficient and friendly, the boat ride was nice, and we didn't see any whales but we had a huge pod of dolphins playing in the wake and running along side the boat. My only frustration was I arrived early with my ticket pre-purchased. I got a ticket with a QR code. I was going to be amongst the first to board and the line got really long and then I was informed I had to show my QR code for a physical ticket. There is zero signage indicating this, nor any indication in the emails - at least that I saw. I was forced to the back of the line because I was solo, so no way to save my spot. I was really irritated but decided to not let it ruin my day. In the big picture it's a small snafu, but it'd be appreciated by others if this detail was better communicated. That's my only constructive criticism. Don't hesitate to book - just be aware you know the procedures first! read more
