She had insisted she be cared for in her house (fearful of "those places") until it got to the point we didn't consider that safe/sufficient. Once moved in, mom herself started referring to her apartment as "home" and stated she loved being there. The staff, from administration to wellness to custodians, to a person, where kind, attentive and caring. One example amongst many... my son and significant other purchased her a plant... robust and needing little care beyond watering. During an extended absence (hospital stay and rehab) the room was cleaned... expected... and some gracious soul watered the plant (even updating the sticky note with the date) for her. Again... The state has been called on them every month for as long as I've been there. The blonde nasally voice manager will leave feces and urine soaked residents for you to deal with after her shift is over too. And when you confront her Trina will fire you. She pretends to care but all the higher ups up there are just friends and don't need to be in the medical field AT ALL. Save your money and time. The type of care these people advertise is a facade. And it always stinks in there.

Very recently my mom passed at Sunrise at the age of 87, and the tears were flowing with the family and the staff which is why I used the word "caring" above. There was obviously a strong connection between the team and her (and my dad) which is not something you read in a contract, nor can it be fabricated. The foot soldiers are solid and do a job few of us want. Also, upper management does everything it can to make sure financial and daily needs are meeting expectations. In closing, my 91 year old father is still living at Sunrise and when asked if he wanted to explore other options he emphatically stated "NO".

I'm a medical professional and after doctors told everyone that this 87-year-old woman would never walk again, this place got her up and walking. She had been paralyzed from the neck down. Also, people actually seem to happy to be working here and not overwhelmed. I never saw residents so happy before and I've had many clients at many different facilities. They had a lot of activities for the clients to do as well for everybody no matter what level they were. Nobody got to just stay in their rooms! They had things I had never seen or even heard of being offered anywhere else. They are also very kind and professional and grateful to any outside help that came in whether the family hired the person or they were just there volunteering. Other facilities have been very hostile. They also encourage religious beliefs here where other places even so-called religious places are actually very hostile towards anything religious. People are also humble here they are not so full of themselves. I'm glad to see that the prices have come down some it was $10,000/mo for my patient and family still needed to hire me but of course she was for lack of a better way of putting it, a very unusual type of patient in addition to being paralyzed from the neck down. She was great though And it was my honor to be able to assist her. I'm a hard one to impress in this place did it.

While I did look at other places I kelp thinking back to the Arbor Inn. Ultimately they were the best choice for her. While all of the staff is warm and welcoming the caregivers are the best. I was there for a tour of the community today on behalf of a family member who will be needing…read morecare. Before I even entered the building, I saw, first hand how a staff member responded to a resident in need. The resident was enjoying the fresh air outside and had taken a fall in rounding the corner. I didn't see the actual fall but as I got out of my car, I saw that he was on the ground and bleeding on his forearm, rushed over to him as he was on his hands and knees in the driveway. I told him I would stay with him until help arrived. Just then a staff member was pulling into the parking lot, likely to start her shift. She saw us, immediately pulled her car up behind the resident to block/protect him from anyone else that might be driving in, jumped out of her car, rushed over to assess his condition, called for help with a sense of urgency and thanked me for waiting there with him. I was so impressed by the sense of urgency, confidence, obvious great training, empathy, compassion and dignity shown to this resident by this staff member, I knew right away that this organization is special. I've toured many communities in my career in healthcare and now that my family member is involved, I know what to look for. More than a basic, staged "tour" of a community, I actually got to experience what this community does to care for its residents on a daily basis. That, for me, was priceless. A care community is far more than a pretty entrance, with balloons and a grand piano. It's the staff who care for the residents day-to-day that counts. I ended my tour today after having met with management, who were equally as impressive. Arbor Inn gets an A+ plus from me.

Then we had to move her to the rehab, after an injury. They were also excellent. Mom took a downward turn after a few weeks, and was there until the end. Again, the staff was awesome. Rooms were clean, great waiting/common areas. Would recommend their facilities to anyone who needs them. My family is very thankful for the great care mom received, at both facilities in the complex, when she needed the help.
