Ah a tool shop... they have all the drill bits, new products and the staff is helpful a plus. It's not all pretty it's all about tools and the things you need to get the job done. I have to buy lots of different supplies for my job, and harbor fright is one of my regular stops now. I have found so many items and great prices such as twist ties ( we use these little guys for so many different shipping tasks)... love the longer sizes and 100 packs! Also one of the best stores to have such a large selection of different size and weights in hammers. The staff here is nice and willing to help out. They always seem to have coupons or free items such as a flashlight or a screw driver set...yes please! Their weekly ad is online with printable coupons for extra savings every week. I have also found great deals on larger items like push carts and dollies. My company has definitely benefited from all the great deals at such low prices. This will be a regular place to shop at to my things a little easier at work. read more

Urgent Blowout! Everything must go! This store reeks of Chinese made rubber... and I have thousands of coupons for free flashlights, batteries, screwdrivers, 6 X 9 tarps, Pittsburgh 25' measuring tapes and the like. In lieu of Home Depot and Lowes, Harbor Freight is the literal repository for Chinese made hardware. Swung by here for the fourth or fifth time last weekend, in this case to return some tools I didn't use. You need to know what you're getting into before you go i.e. the store is focused on getting you a low price and you should be equally focused on assessing what you buy. You can almost never beat their prices - even something like brake cleaner is 50 cents less here than the auto store next door. Quality can be hit or miss (see tips) so be ready to bring something back if it's not up to snuff. Unlike Lowes or Home Depot, I wouldn't expect staff to walk you over to an item you're looking for; "if its not on those shelfs over there, we don't have it". Regardless, the staff are kind people and encourage you to find a coupon on your phone to save you some money. Tips: - Look up coupons on their website from your phone while you're waiting in line. Chances are, you'll find a coupon that gets you a free item or a percentage off your purchase (or both)! - If the tool didn't live up to your standards, don't be afraid to take it back slightly used. Do this in good faith. - Don't expect too much from discount tools; common tools (ratchets, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.) are a safe bet but specialty tools (impact screwdriver, disc break caliper tool, etc) are better bought for a higher price and quality. - For things like tarps, cotton towels, hoses, etc. you usually can't find a cheaper place read more

Harbor Freight is a great place to run in and grab a tool you need, and get a good bang for your buck. Every week they put out coupons in the circulars, that are wrapped around the Tops ad. A lot of times these ads include a free item with any purchase. This has included: batteries, measuring tapes, tarps, socket sets, wrenches, gardening gloves, screwdriver sets, etc. I think that these would be great things to keep picking up for free and setting aside to give to a nephew/graduating senior/kid about to move out into their own place. Each week it typically includes a 20% off your entire purchase coupon as well. Some of the tools inside are not going to be the top of the line, but if you just need certain everyday items, this place will definitely provide you an option that is more frugal. I can echo Kelly S.'s thoughts on the dolly carts. I grabbed one of those from Harbor Freight and the price for the tool just didn't compare to other hardware stores. It definitely isn't as large as Home Depot or Lowes in terms of size, and selection. The don't have as much in terms of lumber, paint, or a large staff. I will still recommend this place to get household things though. We picked up a car jack for changing tires last week and it is decent quality for what we need. read more

Horrible in person customer care.. treated my sister very poorly to the point of tears.. embarrassed over something that should have been a respectful conversation.. tried to make a return on an item purchased unfortunately no receipt but had credit info and order number. I called the store to follow up on what happened since she couldn't seem to get a word out. I was told over and over the policy and no apology for the stress it had caused her.. Later then called customer care and was issued the return with no issue what so ever. Bad look when you have miserable in store employees let alone "managers" read more

One of the worst run stores I have ever seen. I have been here several times. Prices are low and customer service is poor. Cashiers are not well trained. I attempted to return an item for exchange and the cashier was unable to help me in a single transaction and used my customer account for the next customers purchased. Then ended up refunding a portion of my transaction for reasons unknown all while the line backed up into to store. read more

Respondeed to flyer coupon "20% off any single item". Selected a tool, and at cashout, the cashier examined the tiny, tiny, fine print, which excludes a large number of brands. This deception sours me on Harbor Freight from here on out. An honest coupon would say "20% off selected items." read more

The store is great for discounted items but is poorly run. I give props to Jasmine who seemed to really know her way around the store and buster her butt to restock the shelves with returns or misplaced items. I understand we came in about 20 mins until closing. Upon entering the store we were greeted by Blaise whom was sitting on the checkout counter eating a box of mozzarella cheez its. As if that doesn't just scream ambition. He immediately announced the store was closing in 19 minutes, which we were aware. We were out in 10 minutes and made over a $100 purchase. In my experience in retail we were never to inform the customer we were closing. In retail every sale counts, at least that is what corporate would say. We were very displeased with the cashier's lazy disposition. He even locked the doors behind us and turned a customer away as there was still 5 minutes left. read more

You should know what you are getting into when you go to Harbor Freight. Even though they sell tools, tool storage, moving supplies, lawn supplies, etc. don't expect the selection of a Home Depot or Lowes. Also, don't expect the same level of customer service. The highlight of Harbor Freight is that I have saved a ton of money by checking out this place before heading to more popular stores. Sometimes you need items to do work on your home or car, but you know you don't need the top-of-the-line product-- this is what Harbor Freight is great for. You can load up on Dexter-ish semi-disposable supplies (tarps, ropes, moving blankets, bungee cords) easily here. There is a ton of that stuff and it is SO much cheaper than anywhere else. The sales are amazing, you should check their flyer online. The store is not really organized the best, but I think that is because they have such a variety of products. read more

2 stars are for the employees that tried to simply give the customer what they paid for. -4 stars for the manager and owner that don't care that the tools they sell are missing parts and have no respect for your time or money. Tried to buy a tool on sale that was displayed on the floor. They could not find the ones in stock. Asked to buy the demo, but they refused. Asked to buy one coming in next week, NOPE can't give you the sale price because sale ends today. Must buy it online, wait 2 weeks for delivery. Set it up to get project back on track, and one critical part is missing as the packaging is junk and parts fall out of the crappy boxes. Back to the store, they say they have two in stock, great I'll buy one and return the other. After 45 minutes, they can't find it anywhere. I ask to buy the display again. NOPE. I ask for them to just give me the needed part. NOPE. Why have a display, when you never have any in stock to sell, and the ones you ship lose parts? Sorry, store owner rules. I ask to speak to the manager, because this is so simple to solve. NOPE at lunch. Can You call the owner, NOPE, on vacation, he refuses to answer his phone. I wait patiently for the manager. Finally I give up, but see the manager walking in. I politely ask if he's the manager and get a rude response that he is on lunch and not on the clock and I need to wait for him to talk to me. It will take two more weeks to ship yet another one, and let's hope the parts don't fall out again. I spent another 1.5 hrs making my own part, as work needs to get done. The tool worked poorly and distorted the work . It needs more modifications to make it work properly. More wasted time. The price of this tool has now more than doubled due to poor parts, lost parts and some of the worst customer service. Apparently, the manager does not understand tools are bought to get work done, not wait 5 weeks to hope all the parts arrive. This is a great store if you like being told to take a hike by the manager and look at tools you either can't buy , are missing parts and work poorly. Or you may get lucky.
