Real professionals in coatings, they know paints and stains, do excellent color matching for paints and stains, are courteous and helpful, and even lug the case out to the car for you. Unfortunately, it should be called Hadlock's House of Paint RATIONING because the owners are bean-counting skimpy skinflints, who somehow imagine they can make more money in the retail paint business by NOT keeping paint in STOCK. I have three projects going and have bought thousands of dollars in paints and stains from this store, but every time I need more paint, they only have A LITTLE. I can have a gallon maybe, if I get lucky, they'll have two, and occasionally I'll have a lottery winning ticket where they have three gallons! Beyond that, everything is a special order, and come back on Friday. REALLY? It's a 30 mile round trip! It's an absolutely preposterous way to run a paint store. I really try to support local businesses, but you have to wonder what these people can possibly be thinking, and how they stay in business? I really want to support the in-store experts and keep access to them, but it's really grueling when their bungling bosses make it so difficult for their store employees to sell paint. When everything "has to be ordered", you have to make two trips to get the paint you need, when it should only take one. I will probably finish out these projects with these guys, since I don't want to change horses in the middle of the stream, but their terrible inventory (mis)management will have me looking for alternatives for my next renovation. If everything "has to be ordered", maybe I should just be ordering online and getting it delivered?

The staff is friendly, a great resource to have for references and tips. There are plenty of color cards and catalogues to take home with, with references for the sheen on the wall. There is plenty of parking in the big lot, but there is a 15 minute parking right in front of the store for a quick in/out trip.

Yes, sometimes things could be very busy or take longer time than expected to figure out any issues but in general I prefer to go to this Home Depot than any other one in Rochester. My favorite staff there are Fatma, Albert and Josh (from appliances). Too bad Josh left Home Depot, he was the one who figured anything and everything out in the computer system when it comes to sales, exchange, refunds and returns, in general. I'm sure his replacement is also great but I haven't experienced that, yet. I'll keep shopping here. If you know that you need an assistance from a staff member then make sure to go during the week M-F between 8am to 5pm to be able to get their best help. Yes they open from 6am but not all staff are there at 6am.

For one, the general manager fired a special needs employee who gave years of their life to the company just because they had a personal disagreement. Promoting people when they'll live with you seems like a huge major conflict of interest that will fold out poorly. Karma will come for this company, will probably go bankrupt if they continue to run their stores this way. Not only that but Julie the store manager is incredibly fake and not slick about it. I've seen her help other customers and proceed to talk smack about them when they're not so close to her. Other people have ears and eyes, hopefully people can start looking closer at this and how awfully lazy the world has come to, people should earn their jobs and be good at them. Big Lots is also one of the few places around where you can buy reasonably priced USB and HDMI cables. Why buy an overpriced Belkin or "Rocketfish" cable for $39.00 from Worst Buy when you can get a comparable cable here for $12.99 (or less)? Caveat Emptor! There's also a pretty decent selection of RTA furniture here. So I guess you could say I'm a regular here. This store, located in East Rochester's Suburban Plaza, looks to be fairly well run. I purchased a leather Melrose couch from Ethan Allen in Rochester, NY, for around $3,300, and added the $299 Guardsman Premier Gold Complete Service Plan, thinking it would provide peace of mind. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. After submitting a warranty claim, I waited six months without a response. When Guardsman finally acted, they sent a technician from New Jersey (to upstate New York!) who looked at the couch but said she didn't have enough time to complete the repair. And then? Nothing. No follow-up. No resolution. Just silence. Years later, the owner of the Ethan Allen store accused me of being a "problem customer" and casually mentioned that Guardsman had denied the claim. That's hard to believe, considering they sent someone out to fix it, which wouldn't have happened if the claim had actually been denied upfront. I contacted Ethan Allen's corporate office and received a polite but ineffective response--no real accountability from either company. Bottom line: Guardsman appears to offer a comprehensive coverage plan, but in practice, they seem to look for any excuse or loophole to avoid fulfilling it. The customer service is slow, unresponsive, and ultimately unhelpful. The owner of the local Ethan Allen franchise finally replaced the cushion, but unfortunately, the dye lot was significantly different from the other cushions, rendering the couch unusable. If you're shopping at Ethan Allen--or anywhere else that offers Guardsman protection--I strongly recommend you think twice before spending extra on their coverage. It's not worth the hassle.
