This place is awesome. I usually come here after work to pick up stuff for a friend. The store reminds me of those mom and pop tool stores back in LA I used to go to with my father as a child; but on a bigger square footage scale. You can definitely find cheap tools here in terms of price range. So hit up this store first before going to Home Depot. Don't forget to check the website for coupons! Finding the item you have a coupon for can be confusing at times but as long you refer to the item number on the coupon you're good. Sometimes they have coupons for free things like this one time there was a free LED mini flashlight with your purchase. This place is pretty nice in terms of it's not some crazy cluster f*ck of a mess. Also, the staff seems super friendly and even the customers that come here. They're always asking and offering to help me each time I've walked into here. Makes think that I am also the only female in the store during this time. Anyway, the parking is also great. I came here on black friday to purchase a floor jack as a gift. The boyfriend and I were thinking it was going to be super packed, but to our surprise there was practically no one there! Good thing on our part. I absolutely love Harbor Freight, it's just really fun walking around and looking at different things. Their prices are usually pretty good. They have a 2.5 ton low profile floor jack plus a 2 year warranty for $100, at least for the price I paid. The warranty was $20 extra and it covers any usual wear and tear type of stuff and you can take it back and they'll replace it for free. If you want to upgrade they'll take the price of the jack and you just have to pay the difference. So that's pretty cool. Lady at checkout was really nice. Definitely a great go-to spot if you're looking for a set of cheap tools. Maybe not tools to use daily, but if you need something quick. read more

My husband pulled me into this store- he was like a kid in a candy store. Its's fair to say that I had no clue what anything was for nor why this was such an exciting place. Alas, I have to sat that the staff working here is so kind and so nice! While we were holding a few random items, an employee came from across the store to give us a basket then ran to the other side to assist someone. It's a little tough to rate this place because I think one should rate for value, not quality. So...this place offers really cheap tools but you do get what you pay for - they don't necessarily last. That said, I will continue to go here; I would just be choosy about what to purchase. I've purchased painting trays and a canvas/tarp drop cloth and used both without issue. I have used the drop cloth multiple times and the small amounts of paint I've dropped do not seep through the cloth, as promised. I've also purchased a basic dolly. It continues to go strong after two years. I have and would continue to purchase a rubber mallet from here, as needed. However, there are items that warrant second thought - tools that you want to keep for a while (especially those that are powered or have lots of moving parts). Even something as cheap as measuring tape needed improvement...the metal of the ruler is thin and bends, making measuring long distances a little challenging at times. But, I didn't pay much for it! Same thing with paint brushes - they shed and the bristles are not super uniform/sharp so I wouldn't purchase to get smooth finishes or sharp lines while cutting in. I've downgraded these brushes to painting test swatches on foam board. My husband will not purchase power tools or wrenches/etc that he uses everyday from here. He would rather "invest" in more pricey items that last a little longer and/or are designed better (more accuracy, for example). I only know because I was waiting on them to get a tool box from the back and heard the whole thing. If you want customer service go to another store. I had a bad experience at this store and the manager tried to keep me as a customer by giving me a 20% discount on everything. Not only did he not follow through on what he said he was going to do(half way lived up to what he offered) but It was a 20% off weekend anyways.... I noticed that the discount was not right and the manager told me that there was nothing he could do about it. Why would he have said it then?!?! just to get me to buy stuff? I bought something like $900 worth of stuff in that store in one day--you would think that you would want to keep a customer like me. The customer service since that incident has not changed. I called today wanting to do an exchange on something that was not that big of a deal. The assistant manager was just rude..."would you like me to explain it to you again" in a pretty nasty way. I went to another store and they did what I wanted no questions asked. The manager was there and she did it with a smile. I don't know what the problem is with this store on Miramar Rd but they need to figure out what customer service is. They have lost a customer and could care less. Great place for disposable tools. Not the place to go if you need a tool that will last you a long time, but their stuff is cheap. Quality widely varies; some of the stuff is very good, other items are "lucky to make it through the warranty period". It's quite simple: you get what you pay for. This store is clean, well-organized and the staff is knowledgeable and courteous. read more

There is this random smell that is in the entire store that honestly gives me a headache when I spend more than a few minutes in the store, they have restocking fee on certain stuff which you would not know until you decide to return something, unless its unopened then they waive the fee, but what if someone opened something and it wasn't the correct item?! read more

I had purchased a Predator 212 cc Mulcher Chipper a couple years ago. I use it infrequently and had laid it up. When I went to start it after changing out the oil and gas, it would not fire up. The spark plug was not fouled so I took it back to Harbor Freight even though it was about a month out of warranty. Due to the Covid crisis, the staff were extremely accommodating. They agreed to take it back if I purchased another warranty which I did and they replaced it with a brand new machine. Nick, the supervisor plus David and Anthony went out of their way to be helpful and very professional. I was extremely impressed with their positive attitude and commitment to customer service. Although I have been a long time customer, this incident reinforced my choice of shopping at the Miramar Road store. I highly recommend this location. read more

Very disappointed this location closed early by 4 minutes . Another customer also arrived the same time i did for a quick emergency item. Both of us letting them know they are closed early and we standing there presenting our phones showing them the time . It's frustrating when you rush to the store 15 minutes away to make it earlier then closing time to find the doors locked then to have to drive 15 minutes to a Home Depot and the to home . What a waste of my time . You have certain hours listed you should at least be open during those hours! read more

Harbor freight is what it is -- a great source of tools you don't plan to use a lot - and they have just about anything you could need, and for a great price , esp if you're in a pinch - but be aware you are their quality control - I've had tools last two uses and have been beating up others for years - - but they have a great extended warantee, so anything over 200, I give them 30 more and if it breaks they hand me a new one free and prorate the warantee - can't beat that read more

Do you like cheap power tools and hand tools? Then Harbor freight is the place for you. I just started coming to harbor freight a few months ago and I'm a little addicted. You don't get the name brand stuff here, but I have not had an issue with any of my purchases. Dude, if you've ever bought zip ties they can be expensive. Not here, you can get loads of zip ties for cheap. I have also purchased power tools, cutting tools, floor jack and jack stands and everything has worked great so far. Make sure you go on their website for ridiculously awesome coups. You can save even more on things that are already not expensive. I had NEVER been here before and am definitely not "Tim the Toolman Taylor." That's fine, because the staff was super knowledgeable, did not talk down to me, and help me find what I was looking for when I really did not know what I truly needed in the first place. I went during COVID, and all the staff wore masks, had placards on the floor for proper social distance queuing, and thoroughly cleaned the counter and credit card machine after every customer. And here's a tip: do NOT come WITHOUT a coupon! This place is like the Bed Bath and Beyond of Tools. If you for some reason can't find a coupon online, Facebook, or in a magazine, 'tis your fault, or you simply have money to waste. Highly recommended and I will be back! read more

I usually don't buy "cheap" tools but sometimes I need something quick and Sears doesn't stock it so....you know the story. Today I had one of the worse customer experience in many years. I'm a pretty laid back guy and I also work in the industry so I give people a lot of slack. I bought a set of cool wrenches for a project today marked at $24.99. A set of Craftsman wrenches would have cost over $100+. When I got to the counter, the female cashier was sitting on the counter talking to another female cashier. I waited patiently while they finished their conversation. She finally looked at me and said "Are you ready?" (No I was just standing here to listen to your private conversation) The set scanned for $39.99 and I told her the price on the whole wall of the same sets said "As advertised $24.99." She looked at me like an idiot. I told her well maybe the set was put on the wrong holder and I told her it's OK and walked out. As I got to my car I realized...hell no! That is over $15+ I'm getting ripped off. I hate complaining and making a scene. Anyway, after I went back inside, got the manager to come out and realized they made an error in pricing the entire wall of tools he finally said "Take it to the cashier and she'll make it right" and walked away. No sorry - No sorry for wasting your time. So now I had to go back to the b**chy cashier and explain what happened. She had to call another manager over to refund me the difference and not once did she make eye contact or say..."Sorry about that." I felt so humiliated and upset. It was like I made the pricing error. The branch in Chula Vista is father away but will go back there were service is much better. The whole crew at the Mira Mar store make you feel like you are bothering them from the moment you walk in. Never again. read more

I like harbor freight been coming here 20 years. Yes some of their tools are pretty marginal but you get what you pay for and their return policy is very fair if you are dissatisfied. Example: Bought their little Storm Cat 800 watt generator for $90 with coupon. Knew about its shortcomings but figured at that price I could live with it. After a couple of months I realized it just wasn't going to be useful to me, then the pull starter broke. After much indecision I took it back at day 89 of the 90 day return window at 15 min before closing. I did drain every drop of fuel per their rules but had no box and it was broken but clean. They gave me 100% credit toward a new Predator 2000 watt (honda clone)inverter gen that fills my needs and that had a coupon for $399. So far the new gen is doing great and equals the performance of the honda for 60% less. Yes the first gen was kind of junky but it did work for a while and for some its all they need. The better one was what I needed all along and its cool they pretty much took the hit for my own initial poor purchasing decision. (for the record the problems with the smaller gen were that its obnoxiously loud and makes dirty power unsuitable for any electronics. the starter broke because it was flooded.) read more

many complain about customer service but on the few occasions i visited, i did not encounter this problem. i would like to point out a most positive experience. i had found the 2 Ton Low Profile Heavy Duty Floor Jack (item # 68050) online for $129 yet on my previous scouting visit it was listed on the floor for $159. i called and asked if this location matches internet prices and they replied 'yes.' this is awesome because i have read that some locations dont do such a thing. i would like to add that i purchased a warranty for the jack, since some of HF's products have been known to fail. read more

ok yay! This is my first review! First off, I got to meet the manager Zak... great guy, and very helpful. Usually when I meet a manager at a store, it's having to complain about something... not actually GETTING HELP! Their prices are pretty good. I came in to get some moving dollies - the kind with 4 wheels and carpet on them. They, of course, had them on sale! So I picked up 2 of them instead of just one, which was a good thing because my furniture was A LOT easier to move when I got two dollies under it to disperse the weight! The store staff is pretty friendly. I signed up to get their discounts in the mail and they also pointed out that I could get a free item from their catalog (turned out to be a pair of gloves?) hey, free stuff! Anyway, it's kind of a little hidden gem because i don't need to go to Home Depot and get lost - and I can get most of the stuff I need to work on the house at this place, for much cheaper and a lot less hassle! I call this place the Men's toy store. They really have all kinds of tools for everything you build demolish or repair as a tradesman. The quality of the air tools is usually crap. The hand tools are half the price of Home Depot and most of them last just as long. The power tools can be useful if you are a contractor who gets a lot of use out of them in a year. HF offers extended service and replacement contracts for a god price and will replace the broken power tool for free with often no questions asked about how the thing broke down. Warning to men with a credit card. The items in the basket will add up to a lot more than you thought. Put back the ones you do not need. read more

Look it's not Craftsman quality but it does the job! Where can you find a torque bar for under $10?! Come on man! That's cheap! I buy stuff here from machetes, a pneumatic wheel, to an awesome tool cabinet. If you walk down each isle I guarantee you will find something you like. I have all extra coupons downloaded on my phone so each time I go there I just show it to the cashier. You can even get free stuff from the ads. This location is awesome cuz it's near by me.
