This isn't one of my usual places, usually I'm at the hardware store or Home Depot or Lowe's, but today nobody had the particular hex nut that I needed to finish fixing an electric scooter. I was helped almost immediately, and I told the guy exactly what I needed, he proceeded to figure out if he had what I wanted, and surprisingly he did. I couldn't find this even on the Internet. I had been searching for a certain small screw (apparently they are 4x 3/8 flat head wood screws) for my dresser that needed to be fixed and I couldn't find a place that carried them nearby. I went to Home Depot and other craft stores, to no avail. The location is in the industrial area of El Cajon, in a business plaza corner all the way in the back. It is easy to find though. I waited for a good 15-20 minutes... One of the guys said their Rush is between 11-1 pm. I was promptly assisted and the gentleman found the screws I needed. They weren't the EXACT same in girth, but they were the same length and threading. The guys working there are slightly awkward. I don't know if it was because I was a lady, but I raised my eyebrows quite a bit to their rhetoric. Aside from that and the wait I give this place 4 stars based on the fact that, like a guy who reviewed previously... This place has EVERY fastener you may need. This is your last resort for sure. So I went to Abba bolts today and bought a piece of hardware that I needed to fix a cradle I didn't have enough purchase to make $15 so I had to buy something else because I was using my credit card. It turns out that I didn't need the part and I came to return it and they charged me $2.50 for restocking they were rude and I do not recommend this place of business I think they could have made an exception since it was such a small purchase I know I'm just a little guy but be nice to your customers. read more

Sales help by telephone rocks. If they don't have the fasteners you need in-house they will get it. Be aware this is not K-surplus or Harbor Freight: Ababa is expensive. MOST of the sales people at the counter are both knowledgeable and helpful. Though a recent visit had a salesperson who kept trying to sell me items I did not need - or want. Hope this isn't a new direction for the company. read more

I was in El Cajon last week and I needed to fix one of the signs on the Brow Bar--but the screws I needed were specific so I was worried anything I purchased would be janky and make it look less beautiful. I always have a tool kit with me but the screws are ugly. So I of course I Yelped hardware stores and Ababa showed up suoer close--I will say it was kind of hidden, but I found it. I feel bad I forgot his name, but he was so helpful! I was a fish out of water as soon as I walked in-but he found the perfect screws and they were exactly what I needed, white tops and everything. And the price was great--I got 100 for $3!!! So now I carry them with me to work every day, ready to make everything look brand spanking new:) If I am ever in need of other hardware accessories, I will come back here since they are so helpful and good with pricing. read more

I went in to buy a small bag of bolts (probably about $3)and they would not sell to me unless I spent $15 or more when using a debit or credit card. I can't believe any company a minimum purchase requirement and expect to stay in business. I won't be returning and will not be directing any of our thousands of trucking customers in the area to Ababa bolt. I have heare lots of similar stories about them and should have just went elsewhere. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERIVCE EVER! I went in there from a recommendation from a friend to find a nut and a bolt I needed for a crankshaft off an off road vehicle engine I was rebuilding. The guy at the counter made fun of the way I spoke the entire time while I was trying to inquire about what I needed and kept popping off rude comments to me. I tried to let it go in one ear and out the other just in hopes I could get what I needed. I was able to get the nut that I wanted but not the bolt. He was more interested in condescending me, and even though they didn't have the bolt that I needed he wouldn't even entertain me looking into another solution and was asking if he could hold the door open for me on the way out while I was trying to ask more questions about finding another solution. I am an engineer, and sometimes you just have to find a way to make something work. I tried to maintain a professional demeanor but I finally had enough of his attitude and his comments, so I picked up my stuff, called him an @$$ to his face and walked out the door. It was a complete waste of time, not to mention a personally hurtful experience. read more

Normally I'm a Marshall's guy being that I'm in the Miramar area but Marshall's was out of some bolts that I needed to get a large order out so I started thinking who can I get these bolts from Fastenal was out of stock within 25miles and even if they did there price was crazy high (who shops there? I don't get how they survive). I did some googling and found these guys they had them , price was right on point, service was fast and friendly, they got me out of trouble, I ended up getting some other bolts that I was low on stock being I was there and price was good. They have been around for a long time for a reason, they are best at the fastener business and accessories. Found myself going to the local home improvement stores where low quality, high prices bolts at slow speed was getting to be a drag. Then I remembered ababa from years ago.
