Very bad customer service. Most of the employees are kids. Probably does not know where the stuffs are. One time I was in a hurry because I don't have much time and I ask for help and they always direct me to the wrong place. I found it eventually and left. I was in there around 230p looking for one item. There were two checkers and no one else in the floor to ask any questions. Customer service isn't their forte. I was in line over 30min waiting to check out. During that time I heard the overhead page twice asking for more checkers. None came forward. read more

Usually no problems here. Today, ripped out a 20% off coupon from the front of page of the in-mail flyer and was told that what I had ripped out (with dotted lines around it) was in fact not a coupon. No bar code. This was my very first time in dealing with Harbor Freight. I purchased three items via their website. It stated that everything was in stock and they charged my credit card. I never received an email indicating that the goods had shipped, so I logged into my online account to attempt to track it. It took a while to find a tracking link. When I clicked the link, it took me to FedEx's website and their website stated that the package was pending delivery and there was no tracking history. I waited 48 hours and tried to track the package again. And there was still no status update. From running an e-commerce business for fifteen years, I knew exactly why. FedEx did not have possession of the package. After waiting for sixteen minutes on the phone, a customer service representative told me that the label was automatically generated and their records indicated it shipped. However, he was unable to provide any insight into why the tracking information was not working other than to say that it was FedEx's fault due to it being twelve days from Christmas. He told me that I simply had to wait several business days. Essentially, I had to hope my items would show up. This is completely absurd. Although I suppose I should have known better. Most companies cannot offer inexpensive, yet quality products along with quality customer service. I will never purchase anything from this company again, and I do not recommend that anybody else does. read more

I wanted to give it 0 stars but I put one star so just hopefully the people at corporate office will see this. # 1. The people that work for you now at Blossomhill store and the Stevens Creek store in the Bay Area have the worst customer service I've ever seen in the Hardware retail business. # 2. I bet if your employees stop profiling customers at the get go you probably have 10 times more repeat customers. They would rather sneek around the store watching you to see if trying to steal something or whistle to another employee to watch you instead of asking you if u need help. I find that disgusting and pathetic. I've never stole a fucking thing from you guys but you guys sure do watch me like a hawk. But you sure do sell me a lot of garbage. # 3. I've been in both stores at least 100 times total in the past 3 years. Not once have they ever ask me if I need help looking for something or if I had any questions about a product. #4. Most of ur lower end tools are garbage and so are your employees. I am writing this review because tonight December 11th 2018 I went in to purchase a angle grinder and some grinding disc. As soon as I walked in I got no greeting and no help. I'm right there in front with the power tools for 20 mins and not one peep. Then finally I found this Old dude from the Stevencreek store. He answered most of my questions but the whole time he was answering my questions, he had a look on his face. Like I was wasting his time. I know nothing about grinders. But this is what ur employee picked off the shelve for me to purchase. I went with the 4" Chicago Electric grinder(2nd cheapest) and then he sells me a package of assorted grinding discs. I was so happy to purchase my items and get the FUCK OUT of ur store and get home to start my project. But no I cant start my project because knumb nuts sold me the wrong size discs. He sold me 4 1/2" discs which don't fit on 4" grinder and I'm not taking the guard off to void my warrenty. And the knumb nuts working the register didn't even catch it. So I'm at home pissed off writing this review because your employee SUCK. So now I got to go out of my way and go all the way to your store and return this garbage you sold me. Always a line. Employees are everywhere except the register. Tools are good for one use...maybe. You have to pay extra for the privilege of returning a defective product. Bought a box of screws. The heads were so soft they could not be driven into wood without stripping. Palm sander literally vibrated to pieces in my hand the first and only time I turned it on. Cordless screwdriver fell off the workbench and disassembled into a million pieces. I had no idea there were so many little gears and ball bearings in there. Still finding them. My craftsman drill took a header off a 6 foot ladder and got right back to work. If you want to know why Chinese products have a bad rep, it's on display here. If you want to know why American customer service jobs are going overseas, that's on display here also. Really wanted to love this place. Crap products, crap service. I love Harbor Freight. I went there yesterday to buy a float pump. Although they only had one left, it was just what I needed. Get this! It was a $75.00 pump that I got for $25.00. I was recommended to go to this store to get a gift for a car buff. It was my first time there. The location and parking was easy. I walked in and immediately found what I was looking for. The cashier was friendly and gave me the sale price. She included an advertisement page in my bag. I will purchase a gift certificate later, as I am not very familiar with car tools. read more

Yeah, it is a fun place to visit and puruse all the items that seem to be 100% chinese with chinese "quality", but you can find stuff to buy, use a couple of time and then throw away! But my complaint is the speed or actually the lack of speed getting checked out....this process moves in SLOW MOTION (must have learned this from the post office) I have on a couple of occasions looked at the LONG LINE with only one register open and said to myself I have a better use of my time when all it takes is the manager to get off his ass and see that his customers have a speedy check out.........I will go to Sears from now and yes a little more moola but fast service and VERY HIGH QUALITY ITEMS!!!! read more

I needed to buy a Harbor Freight gift card for someone who had specifically requested it. I tried Friday (25 minute drive from my home) - their computer system was completely down and they had the doors open but were essentially closed. Tried again this morning -- stood in line for 30 minutes, got to the register, and the system had crashed for credit and debit cards. While one of the clerks was trying to manually process a card transaction for someone else I was asked to step away and let the clerk who was "helping" me move on to people who had cash. I am not going to waste any more time on this, and hope to never have a need to go to Harbor Freight again in my life. read more

Great place to for inexpensive tools. For when you need a tool that you won't use very often, or not very complex (hammer, pliers, wrenches). Hey, you get what you pay for. Okay, this started out as a negative review, but thanks to a manager named Brady going out of his way to correct Harbor Freight's mistake, it's now a 5 star review. Here's what happened. Harbor Freight has had a few problems in the past with its card processing system occasionally double charging. They thought they had it fixed, but apparently it double charged me for a small purchase today. No big deal. I called the store after seeing it double posted on my Visa account, and asked them to issue a refund. But the sales manager -- I won't mention his name, but I hope he gets more training -- says he'd be happy to fix it if I drive all the way back to the store 30 minutes away. Which of course I won't do for a problem of the store's making. He refused to issue a credit or reverse the charge. So I was all set to give them a bad review here on Yelp, dispute the double bill with Visa, and maybe even write an article in the press on "Leadership Lessons for Customer Service Managers." But somehow Brady finds out what happened and calls me aghast at the way I was treated. I mean, he was seriously concerned about what happened. And of course he issued a refund. So here's my takeaway. Anybody -- any merchant -- can make a mistake. It's how you deal with it that matters. If you make it right for the customer, you're golden in my book. So thanks, Brady, and thanks to Harbor Freight. If you like tools, that place is a candy store! read more

I wasn't too impressed with this place. I received an add in the mail and went down here to take advantage of it. I asked a few people where certain items were but they didn't seem to care about helping. When I was in the back of the store I was interested in getting a plastic service cart but there were none on the floor. I asked a guy in the back in the stock room and he almost seemed like I was bothering him for help. The prices here are very reasonable but that doesn't excuse employees acting this way. read more

Called three times just now (to see if a $70 item I needed was in stock) and the first two times was placed on hold for five minutes each time. Called back a third time and right away said that I have been placed on hold twice now five minutes each time and needed to see if an item was in stock. Without any apologies for the holds and for me calling back again, I was asked for the item number. I was then told ip there were none in the store. I asked when they might be available. I was told to call back during the week. I asked for him to be more specific. I was then told Monday or Thursday. I then asked if they were tied into any of their other store's inventory and was told, "No, you have to call them yourself." I didn't even ask for the numbers and just deleted the Santa Clara store number from my address book. Poor customer service and staffing (usually stemming from poor management) at this Harbor Freight. read more

Just wanted to inform anyone that have sign up with Harbor Freight Tools that if you ever forget your 20 percent coupon you better print it out and have it with you. Today, it was my 2nd day going back to the store to pick up some items. The first day when I was there after the cashier got my number and knew who I was she immediately provided me a 20 percent discount and provided a great service. Today when I went back, which I did not know I was going to have to come back. Once I bought my item to the cashier, I ask him will I be able to get the 20 percent. The cashier said he not able to do that but if I have it online I can pull it up. As I was trying to pull up the coupon, I ask will it be ok for him to ask his manager since she was near by. Well, while I was looking up the 20 percent discount, he finally ask his manager. The manager came up and said I should not be demanding his employee for the 20 percent because he is new and can get fire for doing that. I said I did not demand him to give me 20 percent. The manager was basically not professional and should take some courses to be a manager and how to speak to their customer appropriately. I did not know it would be that hard to get 20 percent which I would have just walk out paying full price and not have to deal with mediocre manager. But otherwise, you pay for what you get. read more
