We live in Huron, OH. I believe in supporting local businesses and it was in this spirit that my wife and I decided to give Harbor House another chance after several less than stellar visits. Our last disappointing visit was at the beginning of the summer season so we had hopes that the restaurant would have worked the bugs out by mid-August, shaken off the winter doldrums, etc. Unfortunately, today was our worst experience yet. We arrived at Noon and were the first customers. Although our server took our orders within 5 minutes, it was nearly 45-minutes before our lunch order came up. I ordered blackened walleye tacos. The fish was definitely not "blackened" but was instead deep-fried. And I seriously doubt it was walleye but more likely perch. Although whatever species of fish it was at least seemed reasonably fresh-tasting, the "tacos" consisted of a couple of pieces of the fried fish sitting on each of the three soft flour tacos. In addition to the fish, each taco included a layer of VERY watery slaw with a side of some strange-looking tartar sauce. When I picked up each taco and attempted to fold/eat it, enough water drained out of the slaw to cover the bottom of my plate. Absolutely hands-down the worst fish tacos I've ever had. My wife had their chicken wrap. The chicken was watery and didn't seem as though it had been cooked sufficiently. Altogether a very disappointing Saturday lunch experience. Our server Brittany was amazing but everything went down hill from there! We arrived at 4:50 PM the patio was about half full. We sat and ordered in about 10 minutes. At 6:15, after being told multiple times that our food would be out next I went to locate a manager to inquire about our food. The kitchen manager would not come out to speak with me, I was referred by the bar tender to the patio manager who explained that "this happens sometimes!" Our food finally arrived at 6:20 for most of us and 6:30 for one member of our party! We had multiple tables around us that came after us, were seated, served and left before we ever got our food but in their world that is normal! I like this place and have eaten here often with my family when we are out with the boat but this was a terrible experience and the management made no attempt to solve the problems or even speak to us about our concerns! read more

Service was slow! Food is very over priced and does not taste good. Very disappointed had a group of 6 and everyone's meals were disgusting. Very disappointed to say the least! I do not recommend this place at all. Waited a good 10-15 mins for our drinks, which were mostly pops and waters. $15.99 for 10 dried out burnt wings - this establishment should be embarrassed. read more

Sad.. I asked the lady at the comfort inn front desk what she thought of the food here. She said food was good, service was excellent, the people are super nice, and good portion sizes.. Well, either she lied or hasn't been there in a long time. The food was mediocre, potion sizes were meh, but the service was really bad. And it was slow when we went at 4pm. I asked the waitress what kind of bottled beer they had since they didn't have a drink menu. She said, oh the normal domestic stuff. Not helpful. We ordered the kids cheeseburger and the pulled pork grilled cheese. The bread was very stale tasting and the flavor was bland on the grilled cheese. Fries were kinda soggy. We got a coke and a beer. The waitress never once came back to check on us or to refill our drink. Then we waited forever for the check that I had to ask another waitress to get. I was really close to saying forget it and walking out like the couple next to us did. When I finally got the bill she immediately ran off before I could give her payment. Needles to say, we won't be wasting our money here again. I would recommend only visiting this place if you plan to sit at the bar for drinks and stay for hours. read more

A very mundane use of a waterfront location. At 7:00pm the kitchen was out of staples on the menu. The dining room looks to be basically 1980's cafeteria decor. The waitress had a zero in friendly service and personality. Openly unhappy about being there. We got the burgers, as the aforementioned staples were not available. Edible food, but nothing special. Restaurant was busy, they had both inside and outside seating. We found a table outside. The only reason I am giving a 2 star wasn't because of the food, but our server was barely at our table..saw her no more than three times. Runners brought our food and she always looked like she didn't want to be there. Me and my husband only get two days off a summer. Wish we would have picked a different section, maybe the review would have gotten 5 stars. read more

Been twice already; service and food were excellent! Would definitely recommend the spinach artichoke dip, but make sure you have a party to share this with. The wings were good as well as the club sandwich and fiery frito steak wrap. With being right on the river, I can't wait for summer to get here. read more

Probably the dirtiest restaurant i've ever been to. That said I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.

We've been here several times since it opened. Great service, great food! The perch was very good and very wrap we've gotten has been fantastic! Update 9/15/17 - was 5 stars, lowered to 3. Somethings different. Last time we came was the end of June. The food and service were much worse this last Friday night. I think 3 servers working the whole restaurant and Patio. I went to dinner with my parents while in my hometown waiting out the pandemic. I am of legal age but look young and was asked for my ID. Without even checking it i was denied service because they do not accept out of state IDs. I attempted to offer other forms of ID but she refused to even look. Alright, fine. I was then served shrimp that was so chewy it was inedible and I am very worried I will get sick. Absolutely terrible service and the food was inedible. read more

What's not to love? Since they were located right on the water we sat outside on a beautiful day. The mussels were really good though they could have used some French bread on the side. The tuna appetizer was delicious. The perch tacos needed a little seasoning but they were light and tasty. We tasted the walleye and it was good too. The location was perfect. read more

I have mixed emotions about this place. It's a great place to hang outside by the water on the Huron River buuuuut that's pretty much the best thing. They have tables on the dock and then a large patio area and bar. The food is typical ok bar food. I had a perch sandwich it was a little skimpy on the fish part and a little chewy but ok. Our waitress was ok. I guess the turn off is when you walk in you are hit with sewer smell from the restrooms, which has always been a issue in any of the restaurants that's been there. Food wasn't bad other than the onion rings, weren't cooked nearly long enough. Service was good, they were busy and they had us in and out quick. Would have a better review if their sea wall was kept up a little. The posts were cut off short and kept getting caught on the bottom of the boat edge and left some gouges in the metal. My family and I stopped over since this restaurant is right next to the hotel we were staying at. It has an outdoor patio that overlooks the Huron River. It was pretty packed when we arrived and only one table left right in front of the bandstand and no shade from the sun. The live band was really loud which was surprising since they could clearly see that our table was directly in front of them. My husband and son had to literally shout at the top of our lungs to hear each other. I thought the band was ok but my husband did not like them. Service was pretty good. I had a chicken Caesar wrap and sweet potato fries which were good along with an alcoholic punch. My husband ordered jerk chicken and said that it wasn't authentic at all and was actually too sweet. He ended up not finishing his wings which is rare for my husband. The atmosphere was pretty good as well as the service and views of the river. Food was a little pricey and the music was too loud. We may pass on this place the next time we are in town. read more

Sad, we were looking forward to some good perch sandwiches, didn't happen. ( and we have had good in the past) We had enough perch between us to have one good sandwich, unfortunately we ordered two. Because we had the dog with us, it was hot, and there were no tables in the shade, we got our order "to go". It took longer to get the bartender longer to take our order than it did to cook it. We drove one minute to the the boat basin to eat, and the food was not hot, barely warm. Fried fish, onion rings, and fries had the just come out of the fried should have still been hot. We believe our food was prepared before our order, and heated. (It took less than ten minutes to get, after we ordered) Fish (2 tiny pieces per sandwich) was dry, fries and onion rings were soggy. We used to love coming here, great location, and being pet friendly is huge for us, but the food was so bad, had we eaten in, we would have sent it back. read more

This place is pathetic. This is my second review and I have to say this place needs a ZERO star rating. I thought I would stop in for a drink and appetizer and give this place another chance (well I suppose I've reached my limit with giving them over 7 chances with visiting here) Last time I was here we did not get waited on and left and wrote a review because we have had chronic issues here with poor service. So today, literally I sat for eight minutes with two waitresses/bartenders walking by me and never once said hello or offered to help me. It's 4pm and slow. No excuses. There was one table of people outside and no other patrons. Even after sitting and clearly they saw me..... they continued to look past me and pretend like I wasn't there and fiddle around doing NOTHING. Lazy and useless staff here. We never have a bad thing to say about anyplace. But really!? Seriously every single staff person we have observed here doesn't belong working with the public. Stay away. Hop down to the Old Fish House, Cush Cafe both which are nearby and where they actually Want your business and treat you well. Harbour house could have been awesome but is badly managed. It may be on the water but save your money and go to another spot in Huron. How embarrassing. read more

Sailed into Huron for first time and tied up against wall. We had a nice lunch on their riverside deck. Service was great and they were dog friendly, even bringing her a bowl of water. My perch was excellent with rosemary fries. Mac bites and fresh salad also good. Decent beer selection. Looks like a nice place to watch sports as well. This is a great place beautiful view of the river. Very busy on the weekends especially. Services fast and friendly Live entertainment. Food is average but I still gave him a five star they basically specialize in a lot of deep fried foods. Drinks are reasonable. Lots of parking but it is limited depending on the number of people. Forget what the other reviews bad mouthed the Harbor House. I don't work here. I'm an out of Towner & came here with some friends. The place was crowded but the service was spot on. Entertainment was a guitar player named Matt Goodrich. Awesome guitar player. Food was good and an eclectic choice of tapped beers. This place has a waterfront deck that you can dock your boat to. First time trying this place. Not impressed. Service was horrible...our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be at work or serve us. Her upscale skills were sub-par. Our bar drinks went dry at the start of our meal and she never offered more drinks. This is a revenue loss for the Resturant. I got the chef salad and the lettuce wasn't washed and had dirt. One of the members of my party got the crab cakes and they seemed rancid. Overall, this could be a great location with the right management and service. Sloooooooow boat to never food land. Sat outside on Sunday afternoon for light bite to eat. After sitting for a while had to ask two servers that brushed by if they had our table as a server the response was... oh I'll go get someone.....Well "someone" never came. So we moved tables and then had to beg a server to wait on us. After waiting 30 mins our food finally arrived. Not busy at all.... maybe for locals but not for us. Worst experience I have ever had! Starting off the server took forever to greet us, which she explained she was busy and I understood, being a server myself. She gets our drinks and order and she just forgot us after that. Food took over 45 minutes (came out wrong.. missing sauces, bacon that was supposed to be left off, old rubbery chicken), meanwhile drinks are empty and we have no silverware that she originally said she would bring. One of my friends goes and orders us drinks at the bar and the other goes to grab silverware. Now we are finally eating our old, cold, food. Still haven't been checked on. Finally she comes back just to blame all the mishaps on the very young foodrunner. She also drops our check (all on one) never asking if we wanted it split. This place is all around great. Beautiful view of the lake outside, very friendly staff and great food. They allowed me to bring my dog to sit with us at the outside seating tables to eat and our sweet waitress even brought her a to-go container of water. The food was delicious, as were the drinks. Stopped in July 28th, silverware handed out 2 pieces were dirty with lettuce stuck on the knives. Appetizer garlic knots were have the size of a golf ball and marinara sauce was ice cold or should say refrigerator cold. Needless to say first impression of silverware and garlic knots were very disappointing. Actually wanted the spinach and cheese deep with tortilla chips, and they were out of tortilla chips. It's 12 PM on Sunday, you should not be out. Run to the grocery store and buy a bag of chips that would have been acceptable. Had the perch tacos. The perch was cooked but very dry, glad it was lightly breaded. I will not be back. I really have nothing good to say about the experience . Beer was cold that was a positive. We gave it a second chance, but won't go back. Bad time twice. Poor service despite always having a bunch of people working. They want $6 for a pint of beer! This is one of the most expensive glasses of beer in the state. They might get away with that for folks stopping in with their boat, but if you live in Huron go anywhere else for a beer.
