We loved our stay here while we were pcsing out. We don't like busy Waikiki and prefer a more stress free stay. I liked that we didn't have to worry about finding a parking spot as you are assigned a spot and there is also street parking. The hotel was nice and quiet and clean even if it is outdated. The saltwater pool was always clean and never too busy! It was also the perfect depth for adults and kids, 3'-6'. I appreciated all the patio furniture with umbrellas for shade. This location was perfect for my husband commuting to hickam/camp smith and is very close to shopping. The hotel itself is safe and gated but surrounding areas are a little sketch but we are used to living on this side of the island. The laundry room was never busy and we were able to use their giant commercial dryers. The front desk can give you quarters. The rooms all have 2 bedrooms so the kids can have their own space and they have tvs in them. Loved the full kitchen so we could make all of our meals. I do wish they had a few more kitchen equipment to use such as cookie sheet, oven mitts, mixing bowls, measuring cups/spoons. The Lanai patio was large enough to store our stroller and many people stored their dog crates out there as well. The hotel is very large dog/pet friendly. They have the best staff working here and are so accommodating. They have made our last week in Hawaii very easy and I wished we had known about them when we first moved to Hawaii. You aren't going to find better in Waikiki as far as hotels that take TLA with 2 bedrooms/free parking/no pet fees. This place is a hidden gem for sure! Perfect for military TDY here on an extended stay. It may not be in DTS as an option (just book outside of DTS), and they offer the TLA rate ( perfect)! It's so conveniently located to everything and pretty much away from downtown Waikiki traffic. All bases/posts are located within 10-15 min. Pearlridge mall is across the street to include Starbucks for you coffee drinkers. Lots of eating places within walking distance! OhMy Grill is a 5 min walk and has local food amongst other places in the strip mall/store just down the street from the Apts. Annie Millers Restaurant is across the street as well that had very good food to accommodate your interests! It's a quiet spot with a walking trail behind the apartments and the water just a walks throw away. Rooms are upgraded from the last time I stayed here! Very clean and comfy! AC blows cold in living room and bedrooms! On-site Manager and Apt Manager John is Amazing! Very helpful and friendly. You can always get a hold of them if you need anything! Cleaning service is on it! Never had to ask for anything, always replaced my towels and serviced the room. I will stay here again without hesitation! I look forward to my next TDY and this time Im going to bring my family out with a little vacay at the end! read more

I've stayed here 3 separate times and I've only received great service at Harbor Shores. They have high speed internet, TV's in every room and everything you need for a long term stay. Microwaves, a full refrigerator and plates with utensils to make my stay so much better. I will be staying here again when I leave the island. This hotel is great. It's not a 4 star down in Waikiki but ... Returning to the island my family and I got stuck in the mandatory 14 day quarantine. We have two large dogs and no hotel in the area would allow them because of their size. In a way, I'm glad now because the Harbor shores apt hotel is run by very friendly people, there are two bedrooms and 3 TVs so the family didn't argue over what we watched during our lockdown. The pets were happy and with us rather than a boarding facility and instead of being locked in a hotel with no view and sunshine, we had a balcony we could sit on alone and enjoy the sunshine and trades again. The prices are very reasonable and the rooms are very clean and the kitchen is fully stocked so you can cook rather than continue to order out. There's also a beautiful saltwater pool (once you get out of quarantine ) to use. The hotel is perfectly located about 5 miles from fort shafter and a quick commute downtown to Waikiki as well as the mall. I'll certainly recommend this place to friends and family. read more

We needed a place to stay that would take our large dog while on business from an outer island. I didn't want to pay over a $1000 a night or stay in Waikiki as our business is on the Ewa side and this apartment hotel is nearby. Our 2 bedroom unit is rennovated, brightly painted, clean, with one set of towels for each person. We brought our own beach towels for the salt water pool. This hotel is a converted apartment building so do not expect a resort style experience here. Their specialty is clean, affordable accommodations. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Internet works great. Kitchen has the basics to prepare simple meals. You will need to buy paper towels, sponge, dish soap and food of course. Hotel supplies bath soap and you supply your own shampoo, etc. Location is convenient to Pearlridge mall, restaurants, etc. The neighborhood consists of older walk up aprtment buildings on the shores of Pearl Harbor. The only negative is do not walk on the bike trail that is behind the apartment on the water.... it could be so beautiful but the city or county does nothing to maintain it and it is over run with homeless living in the over grown brush with trash dumped everywhere. The complex is gated so it is safe from the homeless. Overall, this is a safe, clean place and we are very grateful that we found them. read more

You can't fault them for things outside their control. Feral cats and homeless people are just part of it. They aren't the police or animal control. Their hands are tied. If you don't want that stay downtown. You'll STILL have it, but may not notice it as much. Same for bugs. I lived in a condo in Aiea, and let me tell you, it's almost impossible not to have them. I was actually impressed that I didn't see any on our week stay, PCSing from the island. When we first moved to the island, we had reservations down the street and I flipped out. I thought it looked so unsafe. They were closed and we had to stay somewhere, so we went back downtown. I was so relieved. After five years, and living in the area, I had to laugh at myself. We CHOSE to stay at harbor arms to stay away from downtown. That place is a zoo. This is just what part of Hawaii looks like. We had many relaxing walks on the trail outback, fun in the saltwater pool, and were treated with Aloha. Keep an open mind. If you want zero bugs, beach views, and access... stay downtown. Couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. When you first show up it does look like a rough neighborhood. However we had no issues. stores within legit a one man walking distance. Owner/manager guy was awesome as well as maintenance. It does appear they are redoing some of the room. They do take are of cats, but the cats dont bother no one, but then cats if you try will let you pet them and play with them. They are pet friendly as well. Every room has a tv. We found Harbor Shores Apartment Hotel from a listing we were given by the military when moving to Hawaii. They not only have a full kitchen, but allow pets. The rooms are set up as a furnished 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. It has a nice living room with all furniture including a desk. The dining area has a table with two chairs. We just moved the chair from the desk as well as from the living room so that we can sit together as a family at meal times. The only thing the kitchen doesn't have is a dishwasher, but that is expected of a hotel style apartment. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have a shih tsu mix dog and he barks when they come in, and then he gets over it and they don't seem to mind. Once a week, they change the sheets and mop the whole area. They come monday through friday to get trash and refresh any dirty towels. There is a nice pool and its perfect size for famiies. There is a coin-operated laundry facility as well as a community patio/bbq area. There are two designated potty spots for pets. They offer free calling to all of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can drop off outgoing mail to the office. There is air conditioning in both bedrooms and living area. TV in both bedrooms and living area. Each room also has a nice covered lanai. I feel this hotel deserves an Excellent rating because it has provided us EXCELLENT service. Yes, it is an old building, but most of Hawaii is old buildings. I've received better service here than from other hotels that are brand new. I would recommend this hotel to anyone moving to Hawaii, especially military families. If you're expecting Waikiki, this is not the place for you. This place is in the city, not the picturesque downtown. What is it is very accommodating, clean, welcoming, and spacious. My family of 5 was very satisfied with our 13 day stay. The pool was clean and my kids enjoyed it every day. The manager allowed us to watch the fireworks from behind the hotel, unobstructed view and we didn't have to fight traffic. There were a lot of cats around and I am terrified of cats, but they didn't come near me at all. House keeping stopped by every day and offered services even though we didn't need it. My only complaint would be the parking. Each room has one assigned spot and they are very tight. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone. read more

My family ended up staying for 7 days. Lovely staff and a great pool that my kids enjoyed. We are military and transitioning to and from is hard especially with pets. We were able to have our pets and not be charged. If you are familiar with Hawaii, some things are beyond control. I actually never saw a bug and let's be honest they are everywhere, Even on military housing. I am a cat person so all the cats hanging out were fun for me and the family. The location is great. The rooms have cable and wifi. I've stayed in many fine hotels in and out of Hawaii so I know how pricey they can be. This did just fine for my family. read more

The towels they give you look like they're 30 years old, dishes weren't clean and had stains, the whole place is completely awful and I'm pretty sure they've been leaving themselves good reviews on google and probably on here too because the good ones sound like a completely different hotel. this is the 5th time stayed here and the 4 other times: I LOVED IT! Their great with accepting your pet and the price cant be beat! The rooms are great size and the living room and kitchen have everything you need. the rooms are pretty private and of course the prices are great! However this time around we spent over a thousand to stay there and the floors weren't clean, the door bell didn't work and we had to keep getting new keys cause the constantly wouldn't work and mind you we were on the 3rd floor. The acs were not cold until i cleaned them my self! the sliding door didnt close completely and the dvd player in the living room and in one of bedrooms had no cords to hook up to the tv. The pool closes at 9 and while we were swimming one of the employees tells us its 9 oclock so we get out and. go up stairs and it was only 8:25. For a hotel that has pets their surroundings is pretty clean. the acs were filled with so much sludge. The laundry room is great and the parking was great and the best part is no one bothers you! guess i just expected more spending 1000.00 for a week all the other times ive only stayed about 3-4 days so because i loved it i didnt mind spending that amount. I would go back there again but I would make sure everything is working when you get there, cords are there, etc. probably wouldnt spend that much!The front desk people make it alot easier to stay being that their so friendly! Let me start with I NEVER WRITE BAD REVIEWS, because I never do. This place was the worst experience I have ever had with a motel / hotel. If I could put a negitive 8 stars, you bet I would rate these guys that. If your planning in staying here DO NOT GIVE THEN YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO. They will charge the card with out telling you. I decided to take a mini vacation while I was getting my place bombed which at the time I thought was a big problem up until I stayed at the Harbor Shores Hotel over there in the kitchen I noticed there are dead roaches in my cup inside the cabinets in the drawers where the knives and spoons were all over the place when I open the fridge there with roaches living in the fridge. I called the manager to have me moved to a different room. He quickly snapped and threatened to kick me and my son out. During the time of my stay every hotel was booked and I had no choice but to deal with this madness. They knew that and they took advantage of that fact. I was quoted over the phone 137.00 per night and reserved 2 nights. My card was charge $298.60 and a separate charge of 25.00. I was suppose to stay 2 days but on the second day the ownee/manager said me and my son had to leave because the room which I had reserved was being occupied by someone else who had more seniority because of him staying 5 nights. May I add I had already paid in advanced for this room. I decided to not fight it and just leave. It took them 16 days to refund my debit card. Also they don't take debit cards and the lady who took my was kind enough to let it go. The owner / manager is pretty much the person responsible for the way me and my son were treated and his long hair made him look like the priest zombie from the movie Poltergeist 2. By the looks of his facial structure makes me suspect he is using meth like every other chronic on this island.... Long story short, me and my son had to stay in our vehicle and because of the unessarry charges, auto pay bills were being declined and checks were bouncing. The worst experience of my life. Beware of mysterious charges. The cherry on in the top was me leaving my bag there from practically running outta that place. When I went to pick it up it was opened and rummaged through with my iPad mini missing along with clothing articles. The owner and the staff he hires are theives. PICK ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY.... TLA approved with gate access to the bike path was perfect for a sailor like me just getting to Hawaii. With a three week wait for my car to arrive, rather than pay for a rental I bought a ten speed and went with it. NGIS and the Lodge were fill up, but luckily this place had room for me. As I stated before it is TLA approved, and does have a full service kitchen (with the exception of a dishwasher.) The coin operated laundry was a bit on the expensive side, but still convenient. The community of people working here were very friendly, and for the short time I was here, I became familiar with many of them which was nice. The cats living outside was no big deal, and considering I am allergic to cats, was at first apprehensive when I noticed this. However, against their outdoor nature, they were very well behaved, and well cared for. No late night howling or anything. The porch is great, and there is AC in every room. The TV's are CRT, but I watch almost anything on my laptop anyways. That being said the internet worked well throughout my stay and I was able to stream at 720p (at least) most of the time. When my vehicle arrived, the location was accessible and bypassed most of the legendary traffic Oahu is known for. On bike it typically too me 15-20 minutes to get to Ford Island, and a mere ten minutes by car. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is active duty, and can't get a reservation with the NGIS or lodge. Location is perfectly situated. However, my issue was with the neighborhood stray cats that are fed by the staff. So the grounds smelled like cat urine and feces so badly i never opened the window to bring in the fresh air. Several times i came in only to see cat food THROWN all over the ground for them eat not to mention cats in the office, on the counter where business is conducted, laundry area atop the folding tables. I mean it was ridiculous and disgusting. Secondly was the ant and roach problem my family and i endured during our stay primarily in the kitchen area (difficult to prepare food when there are ants on the counter top). The cock roaches just grossed me all out. Housekeeping was friendly and they dint mind cleaning the rooms even if you and your children are still there in bed asleep (woke up to use the bathroom and the housekeeper was cleaning it, much to my dismay she was in no hurry to leave or understand my anger). Towels were changed out daily along with any rubbish but that's about it. Instead of having normal cleaning carts to conduct the cleaning they utilized the local drug store shopping carts clearly marked "Longs Drug store" imagine the cart noise as it moved along the pavement. The door lock was faulty to the point we'd find ourselves locked in or out even with the use of our room key. Several times I had to ask a staff member for help with opening my door. A bed frame wheel came off(clearly it was never repaired or replaced). The best they did was clearly not the right way as im pretty sure it was just resting on the frame. its very dated. The only thing new or modern are the dishes at which it came. I mean analog T.V. in both the BR's but not the living room. Im pretty sure i'm sounding very petty but we all have a standard of livable taste, this was just not it for me even under the TLA program for military. I'm not high maintenance in any way, In fact I tried to look at the good points of the hotel instead of nagging my husband to find somewhere else for us to say. Truth is, this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Usually, the shower is my getaway at the end of a long day, but I thought twice before stepping foot in these showers. The faucets were old and hard to turn on, and the shower head was extremely dirty. The living room and dining room were okay, but the kitchen was a little outdated, and the electric stove seemed unsafe for use. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, and if you don't like cats stay away. It seemed that a group of cats, 20 or so, have made the hotel parking lot their permanent home. We paid 209$ a night to stay here and for that price, we could've stayed someplace a little more updated. While it's nice to spread out in a larger hotel room, this was not the place for me. We were on TLA and this hotel was a comfortable place that was pet friendly and accepted TLA. It was in decent condition when we got there and was a nice set up. The rooms in general were nice. Our problems came with customer service. There are tons of feral cats on property, all over the place, so the outside smelled like cat urine. The dog walk area had a bunch of homeless people (which is not uncommon in Hawai'i). Shortly after we arrived, the hot water broke. Ours was broken for a day before we went to the office and they apologized for the inconvenience and offered us another room. #1 they should have contacted us immediately, they should not have waited until I went to the office. #2 the water was being fixed the next day and moving a family of 4 with 3 animals and PCS luggage (about 10 suitcases) was a difficult endeavor, so we opted to not move rooms and just wait until the water was fixed the next day. After a few days, we noticed that our room had fleas. We have never had fleas before! Our dogs just had their health certificate for flying. They check for fleas because they can't fly with fleas, so the fleas definitely came from the hotel. (No surprise with the feral cats.) We notified the front desk, who gave us foggers, and told us to fog the room and let them know when we were done so they could change the linens. WHAT?! We had to fog our own room? But we did it, because fleas are a problem. Then, when we were done, we notified them (after giving all the animals flea baths), and we were informed housekeeping was gone for the day and we had to make up our own beds...WTF! They sent a maintenence guy to help us (he was very nice!) When we checked out, I asked if they were going to do anything for us for all the trouble we had, the manager said "we offered you another room and you brought the fleas, so we aren't doing anything". I told him we had the animals checked and didn't have fleas before we got there, and he blew me off and shut me out. I give it four stars because the unit is pretty outdated. But you are getting a two bedroom unit with a full kitchen for a really good price. The pool is really nice and the customer service is absolutely amazing. The customer service makes up for the outdated unit. I would absolutely recommend this hotel/apartment to anyone visiting Hawaii. You will save quite a bit of money on eating out if you use the full kitchen. Also, they offer a housekeeping service and a trash service daily but we didn't use either of them. We can take out our own trash. They have laundry which averages $7 a load. read more

I was very pleased with this place. I came from a $200 a night hotel that was the lowest priced place I could find on line to this room that was twice as big and had much better service. I needed a place to stay while I looked for a more permanent residence and they gave me a discount off their $120 rate when I pre-purchased 7 nights at a time. The room was clean and in good repair but as others have noted it is a little worn. So is my home on the mainland. Staying here for a couple of weeks was easy because it was furnished with living room, bedroom (x2), dining room furniture as well as basic kitchen dishes and appliances and a full size fridge and oven. I was considering quitting my search and just living there. When I asked if they had a monthly rate I was told no. Parking spaces on this island are non-existent or way too small. Harbor Shores has one reasonably sized parking space for each room. That is a big bonus around here. read more
