In the facility, they have clean, comfortable and homey feels like. Overall, I would highly recommend the GLEN Park Senior Living in Long beach. I have been toggling back and forth knowing this review needs to be done rather than not done…read more The one star was earned and you will read why. It all started as a referral thru a program called Mastercare. Glen Park was suggested to me. As I was searching for places my mother-in-law would thrive in or at least be safe in a memory care recieving 24 hour care as needed. I was my mother-in-laws sole caregiver and I was exhausted trying to provide 24 hour care alone. The thought that she would receive 24 hour care worked for me. I scheduled a tour with Wendy Wheeler for December 9, 2025 at 10am. I was sold on everything regarding the care my mother-in-law would recieve. I soon later felt I was lied to. I was showen a room with beautiful paint on the walls, everything looked new bathroom look bigger than mine at home I was wow beautiful room, nice beds. I figured that was a plus for my mother-in-law. I did a tour in the garden area, entertainment room where I was told that memory care can also be apart of. One of my big questions was how many residents are there in memory care? There was 9 residente at the time of my mother-in-laws move in date. How many caregivers are there in memory care? 4 caregivers I was told. My biggest concern was the distance. So I could visit often rather than not. I was excited she'd be 30 minutes or so away from me if she needed me which worked out perfectly. Moving forward All paperwork was taken care of and my mother-in-laws move in date was January 15, 2026. Glen Park of Long Beach picked Us up at 10 am using there transportation. Wendy Wheeler came with 2 others as they assisted me getting my mother-in-laws belongings within minutes. I rode with my mother-in-law so I could move her in and spend time with her before just leaving her there. Her and I had not been separated since 2019 I have been her full time caregiver. I felt horrible knowing I was transitioning her from home to a facility care. Wendy Wheeler soon disappeared once my mother-in-law was on the property of Glen Park of Long Beach. Wendy Wheeler never replied to my text she soon blew me off. I was disappointed and in shock. My mother-in-laws medication was not being administered. She went days without half of her meds. Even Tylenol for the arthritis pain. I kept asking and talking to GiGi the nurse who really could not tell me nothing but sorry! She's the only nurse. within days my mother-in-law was in the hospital. She complained of abdominal pain. She was sent back to facility from hospital results nothing was found. My mother-in-law was sent back to hospital this time she had an UTI and plaqued with arthritis she was in pain in her arms and legs. She was sent back to facility this time with a catheter. (I asked questions as to why did she have catheter no one knew nothing) durning the first visit to hospital my mother-in-law stopped walking stating she was in pain in legs and arms. She all of no where becsme imboile. As far as caregivers on the floor in memory care there was only one I was surprised if there was two caregivers. There were times no one was in memory care and I had to wait for someone to return so I could be let out. Caregivers were overwhelmed. They litterally said it. From the 15th of january my mother-in-law was in the hospital numerous times. February 6, 2026 was my mother-in-laws last day at facility. Facility sent her out due to bed wounds and horrible wounds on the back of her feet. My mother-in-law was left in bed for numerous hours without food without being changed. I needed help. I called my mother-in-laws care manager and asked her to visit my mother-in-law so she could see my concern. I needed help advocating her health. They allowed my mother-in-law to lay in bed without any of her ADL's being met, without being repositioned. Her heels were leaking. They looked horrible. I felt guilty for sending her there I've never seen neglect like that. February 28, 2026 I moved her belongings out. But noticed 3 new sets of pajamas was missing. I gave Wendy Wheeler a inventory list of each piece of clothing that I brought in. And at the end of the day. I couldn't have my mother-in-laws belongings back. There was no accountability. No one knew where her clothes were. I contacted the liscening department who could investigate photos were taken of my mother-in-laws condition. I'm thankful she is not there anymore. In less than a month of being at Glen Park of Long Beach my mother-in-law needed skilled nursing care to take care of wounds. My mother-in-laws wounds are at a stage 3 she will always need wound care the rest of her life. She is unable to be in a regular setting in memory care due to the care she will need due to Glen Park of Long Beach neglect.

Ok, if you're on Yelp looking at care facilities for your loved one, then please hear me out, I…read morehave lots to say! This is one of the hardest things you'll have to do that Vista Del Mar actually makes easy. Before I get into the details, the key names you need to know are Rebecca the Top organizer with a heart of Gold, Sidonia who does the intake and works insurance magic, Juanita who is the incredible eyes and ears and also facilitates memory care, Jenny, Jessica, Charmaine, Patrick the Events Coordinator and so many more. These are my new, additional family and I love them dearly! I anticipated the process as being uncomfortable and purely money oriented. First of all, they have their rates on their website unlike so many others. They have their fees listed too. No surprises. We don't need that during this time with our parents. So that was a welcomed and very important sign. I toured a bunch of places in Long Beach. When walking in, you can feel the vibe, the energy etc and once I walked into Vista Del Mar, right through those doors, I KNEW this was it. There was upbeat music playing, not all stuffy or silly stuff. I've seen places that tend to infantilize their residents and this music was straight up pumping! The residents were moving to it even in the foyer! Theres always a fresh flower arrangement and right when you walk in it's bright and you can see the beautiful outside courtyard. It has gazebos for shade, beautiful landscaping and access to the other parts of the facility. I can't even call it a facility even though it has 247 healthcare and workers. I guess I'd call it my dad and sisters apartment with new family and friends. In the short time my dad and sister have been there, they have a whole new family who care for them. In turn, this has freed up a lot of my time and worry to get my own life things done. I know they're safe, I know they have medical care and medication. But I also know they are mentally stimulated by the non-stop calendar of events every single day. Painting, field trips, socials, happy hours, trivia, bingo, movie parties with snacks! As I write this, I can do anything with my day off today and it feels GREAT. But I actually want to hang out over there today, haha. The dining room is absolutely gorgeous. You seat yourself or they assist, and it's like a restaurant. You can dine there too with them if you want! The lovely ladies who work the dining hall have so much patience. They bring the meals and make sure everyone is taken care of and is satisfied. They can also make other meals if you don't like what's being served on that day. They also accommodate special diets. They really pay attention and I'm so thankful for that! There's a snack shack off the main hallway, free laundry room with washer and dryer, a hair salon open 3x a week, 3 places to watch movies and tv, the theatre has beautiful luxury easy chairs, and is still close to watchful eyes of the staff. This place feels like Home. It actually feels more like home than when before my mom passed. It feels like Hope. I don't know what I did to be so lucky to have found Vista Del Mar. It's within budget and clean and happy feeling and bright and entertaining. I mean, this should be the STANDARD all care facilities should have! You know I could go on so if anyone reading has any questions, just message me and I'll be happy to answer honestly. So now, I'll get ready and head over to their luxury apartment as I call it and talk to them about what they've painted or crafted, which new friends they've met and get some fun chit chat going with the staff that never seems overworked or rushed. Finally, peace of mind has never felt so good!!!

5/5 Stars Review for Nurse Alejandra at Brittney House…read moreAssisted Living I want to take a moment to recognize Nurse Alejandra at Brittney House Assisted Living for the outstanding care she's given my grandpa. She is truly one of the most helpful, compassionate, and dedicated nurses I've ever met. Alejandra always goes the extra mile whether it's making sure my grandpa is comfortable, taking time to chat with him, or checking in with me personally to give updates on how he's doing. I really appreciate how she keeps me informed about his health and well-being; it means so much to know he's in such good hands. Her kindness and patience shine through in everything she does. You can tell she genuinely cares about her residents and treats them like family. It's a huge relief to know that my grandpa is being cared for by someone so thoughtful and dependable. I would strongly advise anyone considering this place for a loved one to look elsewhere. The Memory Care/Locked Unit: The "care" in the locked unit was non-existent. The staff--mostly teenagers--were huddled together on their phones, completely ignoring the residents. The smell of soiled clothing was overwhelming, suggesting residents are left for long periods without changes. Even more alarming, I saw residents with scaly skin, bruising, and marks on their arms that looked like they had been roughly handled or restrained against their will. One gentleman was in the hallway crying to go home, and no one even looked up from their screens to comfort him. Professional Misconduct: When I asked for a floor supervisor to address the lack of staff in the assisted living area, a woman eventually appeared from a storage closet with a male, adjusting her clothes in a very unprofessional manner. It turned out she was the supervisor for the unit. The lack of supervision and basic professional ethics is appalling. Management: The Executive Director comes across as very "fake." Based on my visit, it seems management is focused on appearances and salary rather than the actual safety and dignity of the seniors living there. They are permitting an environment where neglect is the standard. This is not a safe environment for the elderly. I am in the process of reporting my observations to the proper authorities (Social Services and the Ombudsman) because no one should have to live in these conditions.

Having spent my entire career as a law enforcement officer specializing as an elder abuse…read moredetective, I was EXTREMELY selective when choosing where my mom would live as her dementia began to worsen. Choosing an assisted living or a memory care community for a loved one requires careful consideration, so when looking for an exceptional facility, I took many things into consideration, and Crofton Manor checked EVERY box! The key aspects that stand out for me at Crofton Manor are: 1. Longevity and attentiveness of staff: A community with staff who have been there for a long time often indicates strong management and a stable, experienced care team. This is true at Crofton Manor. Everyone from the administrative team (Administrator (Amalia), Marketing/LVN (Claudia), on-site Social worker (Cheryl) and all the caregivers, facilities employees, and kitchen staff (and everyone in between)... are all amazing, professional, and have worked here for many years. The consistency of care provided by familiar faces is incredibly comforting and speaks volumes about the community's management and work environment. There is very low turnover in staff, and they are genuinely friendly and approachable. Their attentiveness to the residents' needs and well-being is beyond reproach! The staff makes a genuine effort to engage with residents, learning their preferences and ensuring their needs are met promptly and with dignity. This personalized approach is a major differentiating factor. 2. Safety protocols: This facility has robust safety measures which is paramount in a care setting. This includes secure environments, clear emergency procedures and safety protocols. The community maintains a secure environment without feeling restrictive, and I have complete peace of mind knowing my mother is safe. 3. Cleanliness: Crofton has a consistently clean and well-maintained facility. The health and comfort of the residents is clearly a priority to management and staff. I have never once noticed any foul odor in the facility, and my mother has lived here for almost two years. My siblings and I visit unannounced (at different times/days) at least 3 days per week, and our mom is always groomed, well-dressed and happy. 4. Phenomenal nursing staff: The nurses at Crofton Manor are extraordinary and highly skilled. They are compassionate and responsive, and they manage my mother's healthcare needs efficiently; always communicating with me proactively about any changes or concerns; often being contacted by a nurse for even the smallest of concerns. They do not take the care of their residents lightly, and have never once taken a "shortcut" when it comes to healthcare concerns. They are extremely competent, which is vital for providing appropriate medical care and responding to health needs. 5. Social worker support: Having a dedicated social worker on staff is incredibly beneficial (Cheryl is a rockstar and truly cares!). She has assisted us with navigating resources, providing emotional support to our family, and helped us with the adjustments of community living. Her expertise has made the transition smoother and less stressful. 6. Friendly atmosphere: We are always met with welcoming and friendly staff members. I have never walked into the facility to see folks simply sitting around in wheelchairs unattended. There are always activities for the residents to be involved in, and the place is decorated for EVERY holiday, bringing a special warmth to Crofton Manor. The environment created by both staff and residents contributes significantly to a positive environment. In summary, the qualities I have pointed out above (along with many others) assisted us in choosing Crofton Manor as a safe, supportive, and caring environment for our mom. We have found an exceptional assisted living/memory care community for her at Crofton Manor, which was a decision I made with great scrutiny. The facility has exceeded my high standards, providing an environment that I trust implicitly. I highly recommend Crofton Manor to anyone seeking top-tier care for their loved ones.
