I called the Beach Bungalow Inn & Suites directly and spoke with the manager, Gabriell J. She was a total professional. I was stressed and upset, but her calm and helpful demeanor completely turned things around. She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of through the hotel itself. Lesson learned: always book directly! Not only is the customer service superior, but you get a better price, too. I will absolutely book directly with them for my next trip to Morrow Bay!

Overall, it feels like the new ownership is more focused on maximizing profits than providing a quality guest experience. From what I could tell, she and her husband are the primary people running the inn, and they were both wonderful hosts. Throughout my stay, they checked in to make sure everything was going well, which I really appreciated. When I walked into the room, the reviews were absolutely right. Everything was spotless--from the bedding and carpet to the bathroom. I was also pleasantly surprised by the shower's water pressure. At many hotels it's either too weak or inconsistent, but here it was just right. The bed was also very comfortable, making it easy to get a good night's sleep. Each room (some one bedroom, one a studio) comes with a fully stocked kitchen, which is great for breakfasts and snacks. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The deck is amazing! It has multiple chairs and tables with the bay literally feet away. I've enjoyed drinking my coffee on the deck, watching otters in the bay, and boats coming in and out. The downtown area starts next door. All shops and restaurants are within walking distance, a major plus! Lots of adorable shops and delicious places to eat. It is very quiet and relaxing here. The owner is kind and takes great pride in his inn. He personally shows you the room, all the features it has to offer, and provides maps for things to do in the area. Also, this trip occurred during COVID. Masks are required in all shops. Patio dining is available at most locations (with the view that's really where you want to be seated anyways!). Everyone was compliant with wearing masks, even on the streets, which made me feel extra safe traveling during COVID. I highly recommend this place!! I will be back for a third time I'm sure :)

We could hear banging all night and it honestly got scary at some points because we couldn't tell exactly where it came from. We arrived at the motel pretty late in the night and we picked our key up from a mailbox at the front door with no code- seemed a little suspicious for something that could very easily be taken. As well, the room was HOT. There was a small fan that was offered but no ac? Definitely wouldn't recommend for summer. BUT, if you're looking for something on a budget in this area it's definitely not a bad idea.
