Seaside Motel is a clean and simple motel where you can enjoy a low-key, friendly oasis. The different rooms have their own artistic themes, which are endearing and not overbearing. Easy to find, and easy to get a good night's sleep. These folks have been in business for decades and know what they're doing. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a family affair that makes you feel welcome. No complaints about anything. If you have an inquiry, I recommend you call them. The reservations email request option seems less effective. The phone works best also because you get a clear answer to any question from the helpful owner. (Though, to be clear, once you're in touch with them, they are great about exchanging emails, too) The shower and bathroom were just fine. Coffeemaker, check. Extra blankets if needed, check. My memories of the seaside span 3 decades. It was our go to motel for family trips growing up. It is close proximity to the beach it has easy access to the beach through the patio. The rooms are always clean which has kept the seaside my favorite. Rooms are on the smaller side but you didn't come to the beach to stay in your room. Plenty of places to walk to for dinner. You were always greeted by Rick and Becky. Becky always had that giant smile and it was sad to hear of her passing. It's hard to imagine the seaside without seeing her tend to her plants or hear that famous laugh. If you want a quiet motel it's hard to beat the seaside. read more

My husband and I just wrapped up a two-night, mid-week stay here with some friends, celebrating our friend's birthday. This is a very, cute, comfortable, clean, and quiet little place. It's very old-school, very quaint, with a wonderful garden out back that has a lovely view of the sea. We stayed in room #5, aptly-named Tea for Two, with lots of teapot-themed decor. If you are looking for glitzy, modem, and expensive, there are lots of fancy pants spots elsewhere that will give that to you. This is just a wonderful, privately-owned motel with plenty of uniqueness and character. If you like local flavor and not corporate impersonality, stay here. We loved the place and will definitely stay again. We were delighted with our room and the peacefulness. The place was spotless (we even noticed housekeeping vacuuming the outdoor carpet right along the edge of the parking lot) and it was very comfy and cozy. The motel is centrally located, within walking distance of the pier, restaurants, shopping and beach. Granted, Cayucos isn't a huge metropolis, anyway, but it was nice to be able to park our car and not have to use it during our stay. This family owned and run motel is quirky, clean, quiet and a great place to just sit in a lovely garden. It's located in a great spot for walking around. Plenty of restaurants, coffee bars and antique stores in walking distance. The beach is right there for miles of walking on too. The cutest, sweetest motel ever! We loved our one night stay here! On a road trip and didn't like Morro Bay so went onto Cayucos. Luckily we got the last couple of rooms at the Seaside Motel. I was in Room #9 (my lucky number too) and it was adorable. Comfortable, sweet, super clean and functional - just like being at grandma's house. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Super location - walking distance from town and beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our room. Adorable little back garden with seating. Stayed here over this past Memorial Day weekend. Nothing fancy with the room but it was clean and well worth the cost. Especially with the proximity to the beach. Literally within a few minutes walk behind the motel and your hitting the sand. Best part of the motel, it's garden patio area. Really pretty and relaxing atmosphere. We spent our 2 nights stay enjoying our dinner in the garden with the soothing sounds of waves crashing. This was on of the best vacation I've had with family. Myself, my husband and our two girls stayed here on our trip down the California coast. We stayed in the Birdhouse Bungalow room for one night. While a little on the small side for the four of us, the room was very clean and comfortable. Our daughters fell in love with all of the decorations in the room. This property isn't on the beach, but is just a very short walk away. The garden area is beautiful and it was nice to sit with a glass of wine and listen to the ocean. The only thing missing in it is a heat source for the evenings. While I'm definitely not usually a 'motel' kind of person, I look forward to returning to the Seaside. read more

My family and I have stayed here twice now. As far as we are concerned, this is the only place we will stay in Cayucos. The husband and wife that own and take care of this place do an exemplary job. We just celebrated my birthday here. We had a barbecue out in their garden, that overlooks the ocean. They provided the Grill (Weber) the charcoal (Kingsford) and the lighter fluid. We kicked back, listened to some music, and had a great dinner, and all the while sitting in a garden like setting that looks like it was cut out of the garden of Eden. The rooms are clean and well managed. Our kitchen had everything you need (food not included). The cable on the TV is similar to what you would have at home, not the typical hotel/motel channels. The beds are comfortable. The only words of warning are that there is no AC in the rooms. Usually this is not a problem given coast summer weather is very comfortable, and cold at night. However, should there be the odd heat wave it might get warm. If so, the office will supply a fan for the room. All in all this is my favorite place to go on vacation, especially if I'm just looking for a nice comfortable place to relax. Try it out and I'm sure you'll want to come back! read more

I vacation in Cayucos quite often and I was curious about this place after reading all the reviews on Yelp. I have to say I find it hard to believe all of the positive reviews about this place. I have never stayed here but just had an encounter on the phone with Rebecca the owner of this motel. I had booked a room over the phone with her husband, (who has a very pleasant demeanor) and due to unforeseeable circumstances I had to cancel and tried to call and email the hotel to let them know that I could not make it. When I called I spoke to Rebecca and she informed me that she was going to charge me for Friday night because there is a 72 cancellation policy and she stated that her husband had told me that. I informed her that her husband did not tell me that and she argued with me very rudely and said that he did. I explained to her that he didn't and said I was very sorry and she rudely said "Whatever, just forget it!!" and hung up on me. I called her again and told her that I didn't appreciate her rudeness and I was explaining that I wasn't informed by her husband of the cancellation policy. (I do understand that most hotels have a cancellation policy but I wasn't informed of theirs when I booked.) She continued to argue with me in a rude tone and stated that she wasn't going to charge me and that she would be losing money on account of me. I again apologized to her for the inconvenience because it really was not something that I could help. I am just floored at how unprofessional and rude this woman is. Before my interaction with Rebecca I was excited to go there and was planning on booking for the end of the month there but after being treated that way I will definitely go elsewhere. read more

A really wonderful night's stay -- We were on our way up the coast for the very first time, and this is just the kind of little motel I'd imagined we'd find. Sure enough... The room was very small -- but not crowded. The rooms are very thoughtfully decorated -- each with a color or theme. Quilts, art, painted walls -- everything was so charming and cozy that we just made ourselves at home and got a great night's rest. I stayed 4 nights this time and had a chance to really appreciate the super comfortable bed, the beautiful well-loved garden sitting area, and the proximity to the beach. I got a room with a kitchenette and sitting area and it was small but perfect. The bathroom was roomy though, and there were lots of fluffy towels! It really is a perfect little Seaside motel. ------------ I really love this kind of non-chain, locally owned, quirky little motel. The location was great, and the room was just right - small but clean, with personality (I love the decor!), a fantastic bathroom for such a little place, a fridge, and lots of TV stations (a luxury when you spend most of your trip camping!) The owner was very friendly and I let her know that if she weren't booked for the weekend, I'd stay another night or two. My boyfriend and I happened across this amazing motel on our way home from camping. I almost did not want to leave a review because it's like our little hidden secret getaway! First of all, the rooms are all different. So very cozy, like sleeping at your grandma's house or a quaint bed and breakfast. Super clean and easy parking. The patio and all the birdhouses in the back make you feel like you are sitting in your own private oasis. You can even BBQ in the back yard! Such a cute motel! Our room even had a kitchen complete with a real stove, with an oven, refrigerator, sink and microwave oven. We were in walking distance of the beach where we saw beautiful sunset. After the sunset we came back to the gorgeous garden and had a glass of wine with some new friends. The owners are super nice! Our room is called the seaside room and is decorated with seashells and all different things having to do with the sea. The best way to describe this motel, that's nothing like a motel, is to call it "charming". My Husband and I stayed two days on our way up Hwy 1, and felt like we were in another time... The rooms here are sweet, comfortable, and very tidy. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. The grounds are darling and so lovingly cared for. Ask Rick where to eat, and from the simple to the upscale, he won't steer you wrong! Rebecca is so sweet and her care of this little gem of a place is evident-we first found her in the back trimming the grass with scissors! Oh, and if you desire, you can bbq and eat in the backyard-it's lovely. You can see the ocean from out there, and the sunsets... sigh...should not be missed.
