First time at the hard hat lounge was las night it was pretty cool (: I saw they had a small kitchen and rite away went to go see the menu and a girl with glasses helped me out I ordered a pizza and garlic knots all made fresh to order and they were very good kinda sad that they didn't have any beer specials or that they were out of tater tots but still sat there with friends till closing very cool spot I would say definitely coming back! read more

We came here on Nov 1st ( Wednesday) and I noticed the place was very chill. There is an outdoor sittings which I like. Inside the place is small. As you walk in, there is a couch on the left, and there is a bar to the right. There is one big table that looks like a pool table. I learned that they have different things going on each night but that night was quiet. There is a varying assortment of craft beers. Cranberry and Vodka was only $5. I would ordered from their menu but I just had dinner. They have impressive specials and is open 24 hours which is awesome. I like the historic mural done long time ago to pay off the bar tab. There was only one bartender named Yvette that night and she is very friendly and attentive. She made us all laugh. I recommend visiting this bar. read more

To be quite honest- the Mgr Dillon' description - does not claim it to be a steeler bar,nor a sports bar- I blame yelp/ google for that! shame on yelp for putting it #1 under steeler bar top ten. the bar tender informed me they do not have sunday ticket or payed subscription! tiny stand alone place. bad/industrial part of town although there were only a handful of people, itseemed cramped and was very, very loud with noise, very dark inside. dive bar is an understatement- small tv's not good quality or reception- the only game on was regular tv. some people may love this place- don't see it- but even car salesman say every seat has an ass to sit in it- they claim to have great burgers- so does white castle- they may have- not judging that and one of the oldest gaming dive bars in Vegas (1962) to each his own. overall i spent 5 minutes in the joint. My 2 stars are for ambiance and sports and in my opinion a complete waste of time to watch any game- go somewhere that is a sports bar. read more

We came just for the guerilla pizza and it did not disappoint! This place surprisingly beats all the other pizzerias in town. They were generous with the cheese, the crust was light and crispy, tomato sauce tasted fresh, the burnt cheese at the edges sealed the deal! Pair it with a couple of glasses of beer and you'll be very happy. read more

Ok. I hate to do this. Really. Cause I've loved hard hat in the past. They just recently re opened. Still no gambling. The got rid of the pizza (which I loved). But they serve burgers, grilled cheese and tots. I was curious so I ordered. It's an open kitchen. The cook never put on gloves. I never once saw him wash his hands. I watched with my own eyes him rub his nose several times. I watched him handle money. Then hands all up in the food. The toppings. Everything. Some guy had his Chihuahua in there. If it was a service dog, cool. But I didn't get that vibe. This guy had his shedding dog on the food counter. I had to ask him to remove his dog and I got the look like I was out of line. The so-called GM is sitting in the corner with his friends, drinking beer and eating. Not even paying attention to what's going on. the new owners definitely need to be more present right now. It is disgusting in there. And I'm not talking about the appearance. It was just plain simple sanitation. The owners definitely need to come back and see what's going on. Aggressive bar tender. I hope there is video for the owner to review. Been coming here for years. We came Saturday 6/18 around noon for the pizza and to gamble about 200. Pizza guy recognized us. Came in and sat down. No bartender. Place was empty. Got up and ordered pizza, sat back down. About 10 minutes later some unkempt dirt bag with his pants hanging down below his butt stood in front of us. Looked like he had just woke up. Didnt say anything, smelled like weed, and was lethargic like he was high. We ordered our beer and he spent 5 minutes trying to get two glasses of warm, flat beer for us. When he sat them in front of us, his dirty fingers were wrapped around the drinking edge of the rim. He had trouble landing them on the coaster due to the fact that he was obviously on something. Still hasnt said anything, still looked asleep. We at our pizza and wanted to get the hell out of there. I got the bill, listed 3 beers that we had. I approached him and asked if anything was comped. He had to think about the question as he stared confused at the gaming machine. "you werent gambling". I said we were. We each put in 20 bucks. He stared at the machine and said "how much did you play". I said that the machine in front of him should tell him everything he needs to know. I think that pissed him off. He stared at the machine again confused. I said, "you know what, forget it, I'll ust pay the whole bill". (I hope there is video of this) He instantly snapped and aggressively started to shake his head saying something. I told him again, forget it, I just wanted to pay without a confrontation, and I shook my head like him when I said it. I tossed a 20 on the counter to cover the 17 dollar tab. "What the F*&! do I do with the change?" I said to keep it. He said this several times as I was trying to leave. I could tell from the noises behind me he was going to follow me out of the building making an issue of "what to do with the change". I told my wife we need to get the hell out of here, this is coming for us. (check your video) He yelled one more time what to do with the change, I said its a tip, stick it up your ass. So here is where I'm at with this. Hes obviously high and confrontational. He didnt comp anything. I gave him a 20 dollar bill for a 17 tab and told him to keep the change. Shouldnt be a problem, right? ..... Unless your a high, confrontational dirt bag. He was hell bent on a confrontation, and "what to do with the change" was his only ammo. The next thing is he came out into the parking lot with a midget and an older guy as if they were coming for us. Scared the hell out of my wife. I turned around to kick all three of their asses while my wife pleaded "no can we just go". He stood there still talking Sh*# until we drove off. WOW. Hard hat, I hope you loose your ass. Pulled in with Denise after driving in from LA and didn't really want to leave. We have a birthday party tonight. Jess the bartender was really nice, knew all about the beers on tap and the menu, made our stop for a quick beer a memorable one. Great stories about all the places she lived, worked, life and we just had a blast. This is now our first stop when we roll into Vegas. Then we grubbed down on the Bulgogi and Jamaican burgers made to perfection by LBC native and Filipino chef Paul, don't let him tell you he is any other ethnicity (inside joke)... Great service and the pizza is bomb! If you're looking for a place outside of the strip, I highly recommend this place. Drinks and food are not expensive compared to the prices on the strip! Also, it seems that more locals will come to hang out here..so def not touristy which is great! read more

Talk about another dive bar in Vegas. The Hard Hat Lounge not doubt would qualify cause not only does it scream dive bar. The surrounding neighborhood off of industrial not exactly the most pretty of all places, not much parking, and the apartment building nearby does not exactly make you feel comfortable leaving car out on the road. One must never judge book by its cover. Once you get inside little surprise to find that it had own sense of style. It definitely still goes with my dive bar list. It not very big bar to begin with you have one long bar area, and few bar tables in the middle. The drinks not much comes to selection of draft beers (not sure since Bobby Yang Unrivaled Players performing but all drinks were being served in plastic cups. No glasses at bar?? Dive. Not sure if daily special but that night running $3 PBR and some mixed up fruity shot added dollar. Again screams dive bar. The decor at times looked tacky all around but definitely gave it personality. They do have service kitchen nothing special just your normal bar food from burgers, salad, and fried foods. I can tell you looking at the kitchen (some things that would make health inspector freak out) I would be scared to order food. I came here support YELP family Misti and Bobby. Booby Yang and Unrivaled Players. Not about the food. In the back area have small stage set up for bands. At times had some sound check issues. Overall for tiny place felt like the sound was pretty good. Room for concert goers it nightmare. Really truth its bar not concert venue. Yelp family we packed it in. Tiny dance area if call one in front of the stage. The service both bartenders were great staying on my drinks. I've been to this bar just a couple of times and if there's one thing that's consistent, it's the great bartenders. I wouldn't necessarily call the Hard Hat Lounge a dive bar since it's not divey at all. There's a small stage located at the corner of the bar. You really can't miss it since the lounge is so small. Drinks are comped if you're dropping at least $20 in the video poker machines. In the mood for a burger? Dish Function All Chefs currently occupies the kitchen. First off..this is a mildly 'scary' part of time when the sun goes down. Seriously! To a small town gal like me hanging out on INDUSTRIAL avenue in Las Vegas is a bit....out of character. I've heard about this hidden gem and thought I'd leave the glitz, glamour, and 'fake ness' behind and check out the place that Yelp is said is a treasure. Let me tell you this place is AWESOME. Totally dive-y..totally cool. It feels like a comfy place where I fit right in. I'll admit it was a little intimidating walking thru the door (It is Las Vegas and I've seen a lot of movies!). But once I sat down, got a beer, and listened to the band..I felt like I was in my old hometown bar. I want to thank Johnny the bartender for just being so cool. I sat down and he was funny,attentive and just an all around great guy. Now I know where to go and that I'll be happy and have a great time off the beaten path as long as Johnny is there! Stepping out the Vegas vibe and finding the Hard Hat is definitely the highlight of my trip this month. I have been out of the electronic scene for some time. I lived my 20's in the Bay Area and fell in love with both music and its accompanying culture. I entered a "musical desert" in my early 30's, that took me away from this genre. In any case, this desert wander has stumbled on this oasis, known as "The Hard Hat Lounge." Having as I said been out of the scene for a bit, I am going to hold off trying to categorize the overall music. Terms like "Progressive House" could well get me crucified by the music police out there!...But that is what I THINK, I remember what the term sounded like. Acoustically, they had a REALLY good sound system. Both in and outside the venue where there are some tables and seats for you to chill. Well if you could stop dancing for a sec. Sometimes the session was just too good! Clientele-wise, the demo graph (based on this night) is early 20's. With a few outliers (like me). Which I HOPE does not mean I will not find a scene here in Las Vegas that is geared to us older partiers! But back to the topic, You will see all the classic stuff associated with this genre; very cute women spinning/twirling/throwing led glowing hula hoops, dudes with other light emitting devices, but in both cases worth a moment of your time to check out. Some of the performers were quite skilled, I was impressed. Interior was, as expected very divey, but certainly not the worst I have seen. Hell, some people like it that way though, seedier the better you know? So to each there own. The important thing was that I felt safe enough to enjoy myself. I guess the only negative to the evening was the food that they got at the little kitchen. Not a problem if you want a burger or some similar bar food. So I've been coming here over the last 2 years and I've seen the changes in this historic locale. With that, I'll say that they're definitely heading in the right direction and become one of the best dive bars in the area. The weakest link, which was their lack of good food, has finally been fixed. If you're into flavorful burgers, look no further. Their menu has a little something for every random craving such as a selection of grilled cheeses, several bar appetizers, and even dessert like Carrot cake or Funky Monkey. First time there last night...great dive bar!! It's small so you can pretty much have a convo with anyone in the place, which is always entertaining. Cool and friendly bartenders who are attentive. Great music playing plus a band. Kitchen just reopened with quality gourmet burgers and creative grilled cheese sandwiches at perfect bar food prices...meaning you're not paying $14 for a burger and fries, more like $7 for the combo. Surprisingly clean for a Vegas dive bar! Smoking is allowed inside, but the doors are open most of the time so the smoke doesn't build up too bad. There's an outdoor seating area too, if you want to step out for some fresh air. Fairly small inside, with a stage for live music. Open kitchen in back currently has Cody's BBQ- good brisket! This is a tiny dive bar down the street from several strip clubs. It's a very random spot. But it's clean and nice, despite being dive-y. The staff are friendly. There's TVs and gaming. I came here recently for their open mic night. Really this review is about the ambience on that evening, perhaps it is not the best assessment because I disliked the entertainment so much. The bar itself is cool, small but homey. Have a couple of beers on tap, nothing too fancy. But the comedy that night left much to be desired. The comics started around 9ish; pretty much all of them white males. The majority of the jokes centered around sex and women. I think these men are what one would call 'man child', as their jokes really were very immature. Don't get me wrong, I am a very open-minded individual and feel that comedy in this country tends to be very politically correct. But a lot of the jokes I heard that night were about domestic violence, attacks against minority groups, etc. There was also an abundance of pedofilia and priest jokes. And interestingly enough, a lot of talk about abortions (might I have found some supporters that night?). This will sound harsh, but it seems like these men are afraid of women. Not one made eye contact with me and I am not an intimidating person. We stook around for a good two hours because we just couldn't get over what was happening. I will be back because I've heard that their live music nights are cool. And the bartender that evening, Tracy, was very, very nice. read more

The Hard Hat lounge is a typical, traditional bar. It still has a kitchen-but since the smoking law came into affect a few years ago, the oven is idle. On the border of a sketchy neighborhood (the once fantastic Naked City), I had never had an issue visiting this bar. At nights you have to get buzzed in, but once you are in the mood is sedate and comfortable. A pool table exists in case you need more exercise than lifting your beer or your jack and coke! BUT--- the real star here is the mural by Frank "Maverick" Bowers from 1963. The mural evokes more a feeling of 1956, than 63, but maybe The Maverick was stuck in his painting ways. The legend has it that he painted the mural to pay off a bar tab (google his name and you may find more mentions of his doing this in other areas like Los Angeles). Now this is what a dive bar should be like . . . cold, cheap drinks . . . semi dark, with friendly regulars . . . an attentive bartender . . . and a mural behind the bar with an unbelievable story. This place made you feel like home . . . even if you were from out of town and just in for a visit. I love this little bar! Every time I'm in Vegas me and my girlfriend take a little trip to the "Industrial" side of town. Don't worry mom I'm safe! To have a few beers and enjoy the atmosphere of my little secret place. It doesn't seem like it's much of a secret anymore though. They are making some changes. They put in a kitchen and the burger I had was DELISH! Perfect with a few of the out-of-the-way crafty beers I like. Although my present company loves her Coors Light types (Ha ha Sarah). Another big plus this trip is they have this new super cool bartender Johnny. He was funny and an East Coaster (and wasn't bad to look at).
