Kind of off the beaten path in Rome. But still not totally out of the way so we dropped in to check it out. First off, I think Florence is a better location and better on the inside. "Hard Rock" is a chain of cafes located across the world, in the world's coolest cities. They have 191 locations in Manchester, London, Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Munich, just to name a few! You name a big city and you will probably see the hard rock! This particular branch is in a great location in Rome, on a busy street, and is conveniently in a good location on this street, close to many italian eateries (well that provides more competition so is always good for the consumer), and also is close to my hotel. If you have a map with Hard Rock on, or check in on Yelp, you can get a free gift if you spend over 30 euro, I had to go in the shop and get mine and I got quite a nice pencil case, which had the "Hard Rock" logo on, as well as saying Roma (location) My waitress was very nice and got me seated in reasonable fashion, which was lucky as she struggled to find my reservation with Yelp. I got sat in a good table, near the door, bar, shop so it was actually quite good for people watching, for people going in and out of the store. This store is filled with tourists and is probably one of the only chains in Rome, and one of the nicer ones. I also feel it is one of the better places for non-italian food, I feel a place like this is needed in Rome, as I am only on my 3rd day and I am already getting sick of italian food. My New York Strip Steak meal was quite pricey, I ordered mashed potato as the chips would have contained gluten, and she just offered me two portions of mash, instead of green beans. My steak was one of the nicer ones I have, and although not perfect, it was okay and I did say I enjoyed it along with the mash, the mash was quite nice, although I could tell it was frozen. The steak was too big really, and I had to take some of it home (They gave me a box and a bag) and I would of liked to see a smaller, cheaper steak meal on the menu, as this is the cheapest one at 22.95 euro, which is honestly a little pricy but you are paying the price of visiting "The eternal city" and avoiding italian food. It is reasonably loud in here, with some "hard" rock being played on the television, but it is one of the nicer places of this type I have seen, and I didn't mind the music as much as the loud, rubbish played at Nando's for example. I thought it was nice I got a free gift too, although it was a pencil case, it is a nice souvenir and something to add to the experience. My Apple Juice was a little pricy, I'm sure it was 3.4 euros and in all honesty I couldn't drink it, as it was awful and far too watery, instead it didn't taste like apple juice at all. Based on this place being somewhere you need to visit when in Rome, as it is a nice experience to visit a Hard Rock, I feel it deserves 3 stars as it isn't perfect but it is still quite nice and cool. read more

Located a short distance from Piazza Barberini and a bit further from the Spanish Steps, we made Hard Rock one of our destinations during our trip to Rome. After traveling a while, it's nice to have some 'comfort food' like an 'american' style hamburger. The venue is on the smaller side, and they have managed to get a good number of tables in, but the way they are situated, we didn't feel like we were in anyone's way. We arrived at the beginning of lunch service and got a table inside quickly without waiting. Our waitress was wonderful. The restaurant was busy and she still managed to get to us quickly, and stop by the table often. She always had a smile on her face and was very friendly. I really like the painted ceiling over the bar area and all the dark wood accents of this restaurant. And of course, you always have the fun music and videos. It's fun to see the videos and hear the old songs as well as the new. The rest rooms are unfortunately right off the dining room, but I suppose there was no way to change that. You men may want to note: one of the urinals is right across from the bathroom door, with a clear view into the dining room when the door opens! Someone may want to put a screen in front of the door - ahem. Just a thought. A shout out goes to our waitress Viky and her manager. I was drinking margaritas and the taste was 'off' a bit. I thought it may be the tequila they were using so I ordered a 'top shelf' margarita hoping that would improve the taste. (I order my margaritas without salt on the rim - I hear the groans, but for those who know me, salty things are just 'too much' for my pallet - and this margarita was very salty. After the second margarita arrived she asked if it was better. I said it was just 'OK'. Next thing I know, the manager is at the table asking what I don't like about the drink. He goes off to 'investigate' and we figure that's the end of it. Well not so fast! He came back with another 'top shelf' margarita and asked me to give it a try. It smelled better and tasted better! Seems the 'Italian recipe' includes a margarita mix in with the sour mix which contains a lot of salt. He researched the 'American recipe' which excludes the mix and adds lime juice. This was a great stroke of customer service! With everything going on during a busy lunch shift, the manager took time (quite a bit of time) to figure out what it was about the margarita that one customer did not care for. This restaurant really pays attention to customer service. If you have not been to a HRC before, and are thinking about visiting, this should be the one you try. When you spend a long time in Italy, every so often you have to switch it up from pizza and pasta. The hard rock is a great place to do that at. The food is pretty good, American inspired dishes with more international flavor profiles. We got the nacho platter, which is HUGE, a side caesar and the veggie burger. All really good! When we went the wait was about 20 minutes, which is rare for Rome. Most restaurants never have a wait. Environment is really cool with the memorabilia, staff and music videos playing on the TV's. Don't miss the mural in the bar which references a roman masterpiece. read more

On our first night in Rome, jet lagged from flying from the US overnight (and hungry!) this was a welcome reprieve to eat food and understand the menu. So my boyfriend and I went to eat here last year, we had planned this beforehand but forgot to book a table. We had a really long wait, but it was worth it. Our waiter was extremely nice and we sat on like the outside little place they have. We ordered the BBQ chicken something as a starter and little did we know that was going to make us a little less hungry for our BBQ spareribs. I have been to three other hard rock cafes, one in Oslo, one in Venecia and another one in Singapore and both Oslo and Singapore weren't that great, but luckily the food from this one restaurant didn't disappoint at all. This is one of the smaller Hard Rocks that we have been to. There was an enclosed seating area outside, which seemed a fun option. AThe new vegetarian options were nice to see, we enjoyed the cauliflower wings. The legendary burger never fails in flavor, neither does the mushroom and Swiss burger. The experience was great with the exception that they were completely out of beef products when we went which was disappointing because 2 out of the 4 of us were really wanting hamburgers. If it wasn't for Andreas I probably would have given a lower rating. He was absolutely fantastic. Super friendly, very attentive and made our experience worthwhile. Very busy place but made a reservation on open table and they seated us right away. They sat us outside in the igloo which I thought was cool. Very nicely air conditioned in there. I'm a Hard Rock Pin collector, and have been for the longest time. Those who know me well, they know that we must stop at a HRC for pins. So, even though I have been to Rome a couple times before and probably grabbed pins then, I still got a few here. With the yelp check in, I scored a little nylon pouch. Not sure what to use it for yet. I did get some limited edition and holiday pins (I was there during Easter and went to the Easter mass at the Vatican so a nice souvenir). My hubby was at the bar having a beer when I was done shopping so I made my way over. We ordered a plate of nachos. I wanted an arnold palmer but was told there was no such thing as iced tea in Rome. So I ended up with a sprite. The nachos were just okay. The ceiling is a nod to the Sistine Chapel and they had some interesting rock gear on display. I have been to many HRC's around the world. This one seemed unimpressive. The food is consistently okay when needing an American safe zone abroad. OK. I needed a burger after almost two weeks in Italy. I did have my occasional steak but it was mostly pizza and pasta the whole time. Also gelato but that's another story. The Hard Rock was about a mile walk from my hotel which helped walk off some of the fries afterwards. We decided to try the glassed in outside area on the street because the inside was just packed. Three pluses: Air conditioned, dedicated staff and the glass acted as a barrier to all the street hawkers trying to sell you something. If you've sat in the outside street section of a restaurant in a large town in Italy, you know what I mean. Service: pretty good. Staffed by two waiter/waitresses. They have to run back and forth to the main section to get the food, so there's a slight wait. Food: Classic burger and fries. Tasted great after two weeks away. Another plus: serves Pepsi Price: more Italian than stateside. Two hamburgers and fries, two Pepsi drinks(refills free). 37 Euro range. (About $42). read more

This Hard Rock had the worst food of any Hard Rock I've been to, and I usually find at least one in every country or city I visit. This is not a good place for a group, seating is very cramped, and it is SUPER busy. The biggest complaint was that the food was just very off. The nachos were sickly sweet, the pasta had some weird barbecue-like sauce on it, and the burgers were burnt and just poor quality. You have to go for the experience, but the food was just gross. What a terrible evening at the Hard Rock Cafe. I am currently studying abroad in Rome and decided to make the trip to the Hard Rock to cope with a wave of homesickness. Honestly, it just made me more homesick. First of all, I had read online reviews that mentioned a happy hour so my girlfriends and I decided to arrive early and have a drink or two. When we asked, the very rude waitress told us we could not participate in happy hour unless we were sitting at the bar. We asked if we could order at the bar and bring the drinks back to our table but she insisted that we could not. We all decided we would live without the drinks and simply enjoy some burgers. We asked for a few more minutes with the menu while we decided what to get. After about a half-hour of no service and no sight of our waitress, a woman finally brought out an appetizer one of the girls had initially ordered. We told the woman we were ready to order our main course and asked if she could send our server out. She said she would but ten minutes later, we were still waiting. We then asked at the host stand if there was anybody around to take our order. They laughed and said sure. Another ten minutes later, we were pretty fed up and asked for the check for the appetizers and our water. Even that was apparently too much to ask because nobody bothered to bring the check. When a friend asked for it a second time, the host gave her incredible attitude. Direct quote: my friend: "Excuse me, can we get our check?" Host: "You're excused." He then nodded and walked away, but still didn't bring a check... A couple of staff members kept clumping together at the host stand and staring at us. They laughed, rolled their eyes, and gossiped in Italian. I have never felt more uncomfortable at a restaurant in my life. After about an hour total of rude employees and terrible service, a manager named Roberto came over and began to apologize. He insisted it was his fault (which it wasn't) and asked us to stay. He offered a discount and some free beverages and appetizers. It was getting late and we were hungry so we reluctantly stayed. After we finished, he brought the check. Discount my ass... We were charged full price for our food and even ended up paying for some of the "complimentary water" that we never asked for. Finally, to top it off, my friend from Barcelona was visiting and ended up getting food poisoning from her appetizer. She didn't even eat her burger and has been sick since we left. The one positive thing I will say is that my food tasted good. I was happy with my burger and thankful to be able to eat ketchup with my fries again. So I'll say the food gets 4 stars. But next time I crave American food, I'll make it myself. read more

This place is pretty much a tourist trap for weary Americans who aren't brave enough to try a local mom & pop local spot. I am ending a 2.5 week vabcation here in Italy and having stuffed my self with every type of magnificent Italian pasta, pizza and seafood that was prepared with either in a cream; tomato or cheese sauce that had flavors that absolutely do not compares to any other place on the planet, I was truly wanting an American Burger with Fries. To my rescue was the Hard Rock Cafe Rome (The restaurant is NOT near the Vatican. There you will find a gift shop with limited items and no HRC Pins). Christopher's service was just what I would expect of this iconic rock n roll restaurant. He was very friendly, very attentive, fast and had a GREAT attitude. Holy cow, this was such a great way to have food from home! We've lived in Italy for 10 months now and just visited Rome this past weekend and rushed to get there (from the train station and back). It only cost 7 euro to go from the train station and then 6 euros back. The drinks were out of this world, the food was amazing, and the service was just amazing. Ugh. I must say i agree with the below, about this being the worst hard rock i've ever been to. Normally i think of hard rocks as crappy tourist traps, and i wouldnt be caught dead there....especially living in nyc, where chains are so looked down upon. After everything in venice being a tourist trap in itself, we adored the hard rock there (better drinks and pricing than literally all the other dumps), so went out of our way to make it by this hard rock when in rome. Sadly, the experience was not the same. We only wanted cocktails, so were looking for bar seating, but there was literally none to be had. Also, i wanted a bloody, which they were out of. The next 2 drinks we ordered were too horrible to drink. Another bartender remade them, so they were tolerable. Also, a middle aged dude came out of one of the stalls in the women's room when i was at the sink...gross. When my boyfriend went to have the drinks remade, about 3 separate people tried to steal his chair, so safe to say they need more seating (our chairs were two random stools, in an awkward area overlooking the restaurant side). Finally a Hard Rock with an original and very delicious Local Legendary. It has Parmesan Crust on it which makes it twice as good as it is already. Perfect Burger in a great location. The Chicken Burger my girlfriend had was also great and the Parmesan Fries and Aioli Dip to die for. Staff where all very nice, our waiter Riccardo was very helpful. I have been to this HRC a few times in the past but this time I got there too early and it wasn't opened yet. The gift shop was though so stopped in to get another "city shot glass" for my collection. Best thing about the shop - Springsteen is there! So is U2. Not only that; they had a few good deals on some pins. As for the cafe; my favorite part is the dome with a heavenly painting of cherubs rocking out! After a week of pastas and pizza, a nice cheeseburger was much needed. Ordered a bottle of wine, nachos and cheeseburgers and Oreo cheesecake. Everything was delicious as expected. Went about 6:30 with a five minute wait for the two of us on a Monday and shortly after there was twenty people outside waiting. However, the best part of the meal was the service. Food in Italy is great but good service might be rare. Our server Monir was excellent. Monir provided that personal service which was a very nice break from the usual "service" from local Italian restaurants. Monir was funny and so nice I wanted to pull him a chair for him to join us. This place rocks! Surely I can't be the first one to lead off like that, lol. I used to come here about once a week when I lived in Rome. Sometimes you just need a greasy American hamburger. There are only 2-3 places where good American style hamburgers exist in Rome and Hard Rock's are arguably the best. It's definitely a family place, if your family rocks, which mine does. Kids love it here. It's a big treat, and they know it. The wait staff is very friend and energetic, too. I'm surprised that they can keep up the tempo considering that this place is packed all the time. Well, I go to Hard Rock to watch memorabilia and to have their burger or ribs. If i want an extraordinary experience regarding food or service i go somewhere else. As long as the service is OK I do not complain. Unfortunately, this time I cannot give a review on the food but the service at the bar was OK. we just had one of their cool named drinks and absorbing the atmosphere. The music is always good.
