Tom incorporated diagonal shapes with border tiles in the design as I requested, so the cuts and placement needed to be precise. They were! When we began our kitchen remodel, I had my heart set on Granite. I had picked out the particular stone, Titanium Granite, and began my normal habit of getting quotes. My husband and I visited every Granite place in the Miramar area. Half of those, we did not like because they were high pressure. Their Titanium was also orange, not silver. The other half were so expensive, I was ready to settle for human made counter tops. We visited a very large Granite Distributor and I found the perfect Titanium Granite. We took this information to Tom and quite quickly, I had those 2 slabs in my kitchen. We had no idea what we had to do to get this Granite, nor did we know how much we needed. One Granite place told me I need 3, maybe 4 slabs,,,there goes my Granite. Tom took my husband's exact measurements and layout of our kitchen and managed to manipulate the Granite so we only needed 2 slabs with very little Granite left over from Fabrication, which we also received. Hard Rock beat EVERYONE's prices, right out the door without negotiating. Tom sent Oscar over to make the "mold." Oscar was amazing in that, he agreed with me and not my husband about the ledge. I thought there should be Granite on the two ledges in the kitchen, my husband just wanted to tile them with backsplash. Oscar, without my prompting, said, "You know, that would look better with Granite." My husband LOVED that idea and Tom made it work for us. I was right, it is gorgeous. On Granite delivery day, Oscar was back with an assistant. While they were here for awhile putting in my Granite, it did not seem to take more than an hour or so. It was more like 6 hours, this is just how good these guys are. Oscar is an artisan, just the same as Tom, with an attention to detail. Tom laid out the blank slabs so the pattern flowed and did not look disjointed. Oscar had the same thing. I would never have considered the middle island slab's placement, if not for Oscar. He had me look at the slab and asked me which side I wanted and where. One side was heavily riddled with light color, the other side was dark. The assistant and I agreed how we thought it should be placed and Oscar agreed. We have had the Granite for a week now and not a single problem. We have an overhang eating area and it is sturdy. I was a Purchasing Manager my whole life and I always check multiple places prior to purchase. Since I already did this, I can tell you, if you are looking for tile or stone, Hard Rock will be the place from which you will end up getting your beautiful items. read more

Not really a HR tile & stone review. But today my car stalled on a busy street in Encinitas. The battery was completely dead and I had no way of turning on the flashers to alert oncoming traffic of our downed car, so I stood in back of our car and waved people aside so that they knew my car was out of commission. Your employee Oscar unselfishly stopped his truck behind ours and offered to jump, push, or do whatever it took to get us out of the middle of the busy street. He ended up stopping traffic so that I could roll our car in neutral back to the shoulder. He even took a minute to chat with and comfort my 3yr old daughter. He was also kind enough to give me a bottle of cold water that he had in his truck. Eventually a traffic cop came and a few minutes later, our tow truck. But Oscar definitely went beyond the call of duty and earned your company and himself a new customer and some well-earned publicity. I usually don't write reviews but the service I git from. Dan Wheeler was exceptional. We were doing a kitchen remodel and unfortunately needed some travertine floor tile that was 9 years old. When the project started no one thought it would be a problem to find the tile. After visiting 5 places with no luck, I was pretty desperate. I stumbled upon Hard Rock because I drive from store to store in Miramar Road. I was lucky enough to find Dan at the store. All I had was a photo and he told me like many other people that he works call me back if he could find it. The difference was that he actually called me within the hour and ordered me a sample that I had within the week. It was amazing that he found my chiseled tile. Every other store response was we don't have it or we will call you and never did. I would use Dan and this store in a heartbeat. They truly understand customer service and know their product. We shopped for bathroom tiles and kitchen backsplashes for so long and checked out almost all stone stores on Miramar. My husband is an architect so he has great taste and is generally very picky on the materials so we could find the ones till the project was about to start. Finally my interior designer recommended Hardrock. She was absolutely right. The store carries lots of high end and hard to find stones and tiles from Italy and Spain but with very reasonable price. I needed some backsplash and tile work for my new home and wanted to add more design detail to my son's bathroom. When I called Hard Rock Tile and Stone, I was able to speak directly to the owner, Tom. He immediately understood what I wanted. I have moved and renovated before. What struck me about Tom, was that he is patient, listens and personally makes sure everything runs smoothly from picking out the tile to installation. He has a great range of awesome tiles at his shop. He even has all the newest styles of faux wood tile. For our job, we were so pleased with how one bathroom looked, that we did all of the other ones. Tom also helped me select Cambria for all of the counter spaces and it looks AMAZING! I highly recommend Hard Rock Tile & Stone (Miramar) and especially Tom Cruse, who is a part owner and contractor for Hard Rock. We were purchasing wood-looking tile to replace our hardwood floors over after a flood damaged our floors. Tom was my first point of contact in the store and I looked at several other tile stores in San Diego. He showed me various price ranges and quality in the color of the wood-looking tiles I was seeking and my husband and I returned to puchase our tile and hired Tom as our general contractor for the job. I cannot say enough good things about Tom and this company. They were extremely professional, communicated clearly via phone, text and email and responded to all questions promptly. Because of the amount we purchased (1,400 square feet of tile) Tom was able to get nearly a 30% discount on our tile price from the manufacturer and his contract prices were extremely reasonable. He had a realistic time-line for the project, and the work was completed right on time. The work was performed well, the tile and other subcontractors were honest and trustworthy, the clean up was thorough, and where we sought adjustments - adjustments were made without question.
