Food is acceptable. It can be hit or miss as far as the service goes. But that is what you get now a days from fast food places.

This place is such a hidden gem. Tucked away off the beaten path, it has that cozy, "you almost…read moredon't want to tell anyone about it" kind of charm. The space is definitely on the smaller side, which adds to the intimate feel, but I can only imagine it gets pretty tight during peak hours--especially since they don't take reservations. That said, everything else more than makes up for it. The service was genuinely excellent--attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. And the food? Absolutely worth it. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. If you're thinking about going, I'd definitely recommend timing your visit to avoid the rush. It's a small spot, but one that delivers a big experience.

5 of us headed to Glendale from Louisville (about a 45 minute drive) for lunch and some shopping…read more Upon arrival at 11.30 am we were seated immediately by the sweet hostess. The menu is extensive so it took a minute for us to order. Everyone had water to drink. Our server brought us some fresh yeast rolls that were hot and tasty. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer for the table. They were excellent served with sour cream and horseradish and ranch that we had to ask for additionally. Everyone ordered something different. Orders included: 1. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. I only tried their cole slaw which leans more to a vinegar base and I prefer a sweeter slaw. There were 4 pieces of chicken. 2. Meatloaf with mashed potato and gravy and cornbread. Cornbread was a bit dry, meatloaf was ok. 3. Mushroom and bacon smothered chicken, onion rings and cornbread. Person said the chicken was a bit dry, the mushrooms and bacon saved the dish. Onion rings were good, crispy and hot. 4. Chicken and dumplings with cornbread. Folks that tasted them said they make better at home, nothing special. 5. Rueben sandwich with corn pudding. Sandwich was just ok. Bread was too thick for my taste, beef was tender. Corn pudding was excellent, hot, creamy. Service was good, resturant quaint, street parking. The train rolling by, blowing the whistle while we ate was a nice touch, although it rattled the building. After we ate, got to go containers and paid we shopped at the adjacent and across the street shops to the resturant. That was fun. After shopping we headed back to the restaurant for coffee and dessert. Again each of us had a different dessert item which included: coconut cream pie, butterscotch pie, derby pie, chocolate sundae cake and the house specially, butter cream pie. All were pretty good. We all liked the house speciality pie, it was super sweet, creamy with a good crust. Coconut pie was a favorite as was the chocolate sundae cake. The derby pie was way too chocolatey for most of us. It is a cute little little resturant with a homey feel that will take you back in time. One of those places where you should try but then say, did that, don't necessarily need to revisit.

Sunday, 18 January 2026…read more Met friends at J.R. Neighbors for lunch. According to my friend, the have the best burgers in Etown! ‍ There are a few parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant (maybe 5, with 2-3 slots being reserved for handicap). There are nearby parking lots with plenty more parking. As it was a Sunday, we had no trouble finding parking. There were a few people ahead of us, maybe three different parties. My partner and I did not have to wait to be seated since the friends we were meeting had already arrived and got a table. We greeted our friends then reviewed the menu. Since it was around 12ish on a Sunday, only the brunch menu was available. Not long after, our waitress arrived to take drink orders. Shortly after that, and after the drinks arrived - pineapple mimosas, apple juice, and water, we ordered our food...mostly everyone had a burger. I had the Texan burger/sandwich which came on a Texas toast, hence the name, and my partner had the Newberry Smash burger (double). Each came with a choice of "regular" fries or tots. I wanted sweet potato fries, but again, since it was Sunday, only the brunch menu and what was displayed was available. So, I settled for regular fries. My burger was good albeit a bit messy with the sunny side egg running everywhere! The bacon topping the burger was perfectly done with the right crispy/crunchy consistency. My mimosas was refreshing except I did not get much of a pineapple taste. The fries were fresh and appropriately seasoned, not too salty and not too bland, just right. We were all full from our meals so we did not even consider dessert! The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, so the atmosphere was quite. We sat by the windows and were not even distracted by the outside vehicles passing by. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend J.R. Neighbors to anyone looking for good burgers in a good atmosphere in Etown.

This is the worst McDonald's open. The service is extremely poor at night. Went in the other night…read morethrough the drive thru, and sat there for 7 minutes waiting for service. After 7 minutes, I thought that the speaker may have been broken, so I pull up the window and see nothing but young teenagers on their cell phones, laughing and playing games. The quality of the food the last three times I've been there, have progressively gotten worse. This is just one of a few locations in Hardin County and for sure the worst one. I understand that it's McDonald's, but this is why children shouldn't be managing other children. It's ridiculous and atmosphere is horrible. If you go inside, prepare to wait even longer.

#40/2023 Well it's been almost 3 years since the last time I…read morereviewed here Fortunately it's really two and a half stars but the quality of the food today was really good so I'm going to leave it at three stars again. This is kind of a touch and go McDonald's sometimes things are really good and sometimes things aren't so good. Unfortunately the problem here is the staffing still some people are just working for the check. I came in and ordered the number one Big Mac minus pickle and onion. Also the standard medium size that comes with a number one and is always I ordered french fries with no salt. And a Coke Zero from the fountain they give you a cup I said for here eat in. They bring the food out in the bag I said don't you usually get a tray she's like oh I didn't really look at the receipt I didn't know you wanted it for here I'm thinking to myself DUH!! So I proceed to eat my food. I decided I wanted a apple pie I walk up to the counter and I order an apple pie just one. I get the pie and I look at the time stamp it's expired by 10 minutes so it's an older pie. I tell her this is expired can I get a fresh pie if you have some. The dimwit that rang me up is like oh that's not expired at all. I said yes it is it shows a time to enjoy buy it's 10 minutes fast. The retort was oh I just made these pies they're good until 10:45 p.m.. Manager comes out looks at the box and says this is expired. There were fresh pies underneath that needed to be rotated. But instead this one wants to sit here and argue the point and I'm like really why would you put a sticker on here showing what time it's good until just for decoration? So meanwhile I get my fresh pie I casually roll my eyes at goofus. The dining room was fairly clean for the most part everything else was okay but once again because the food tasted really good I'm giving it the three stars and not the two stars even though it really is two and a half.
