Fun space, good home style cooking. Fried green tomatoes on a burger: good idea, well executed. The hash brown casserole is pure comfort food decadence. Friendly spot, definitely check it out if you're in the area

What a cute place to eat lunch, relax, and shop! We loved the atmosphere inside and outside. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The food was wonderful. To top it off we were able to do a little shopping after lunch, not before as we didn't have to wait to be seated. Loved this place!

I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars so it's a 2.5 for me. Sadly did not have the dining experience I was hoping for while in Etown. This restaurant had positive reviews and looked so cozy from the outside. First thing I noticed was how sticky our table was after being seated. I ordered the chicken, with hash-brown casserole and coleslaw and my partner ordered the burger with fries. The piece of chicken was small and lacked flavor, the hash brown casserole and coleslaw were okay. The burger patty was dry and tasted low quality. The french fries were the best part of the meal. We didn't bother with dessert at this point.

I had a great experience here at back home restaurant we were seated very quickly. The waitress was super nice. The establishment had down home country field to it. It was great. My food was excellent. I got fried chicken with gravy mashed potatoes and it was all very tasty. I definitely recommend it and I would be back.

4 stars for what it is - charming southern fare! First time trying hot brown, and they delivered!

Friendly service with a cozy atmosphere. Food was tasty but a bit pricey for lunch (which I know is the norm anymore). The convenience and comfort food brings us back every time.

    Garden Salad. Fresh and tasty.

Delicious Home Cooking and Wonderful Servers. Food here is really good and reasonably priced. I recommend the fish tacos, the pinto beans, the cod, and any of the sides. It's a homey atmosphere and the restaurant has a boutique attached to it that sells candles, chocolates, home decor, and women's clothing. This is a great place for lunch.

This was a great experience with excellent service, great food in a wonderful environment and prices. The hot brown, country fried steak and beans and cornbread were all great. Next time you get an opportunity stop by and check it out. They also have gifts and clothing as part of their gift shop.

2 cod fish tacos with a side ( I paid a little extra for no fries) LOVED the sauce!!!!

Oh my gosh- we came here for the first time on a Thursday afternoon for a late lunch and loved the experience. You park in a small gravel lot, cross over a bridge and feel the warmth before ever stepping into the large house turned restaurant. And.... there is boutique shopping inside- both upstairs and in the waiting areas so be sure to go up and check it out!!! I had the most delicious fish tacos - the slaw mixture was melt in your mouth yummy and each of the 2 tacos came with a long hearty piece of fried fish. Heavenly! And our wonderful server brought us drink refills which I always love. It's a house- so tables and booths are set up throughout all the rooms . It's quaint and delicious. Ladies room is a one seater so plan ahead for a line! We will definitely come back here! It's worth a traveler's time to get off the expressway and support this home cooking restaurant!

We started with an order of corn bread and fried green tomatoes. The cornbread was served with Sorghum butter which I wasn't a huge fan of however I've been dreaming about those Fried Green Tomatoes ever since. They were served on top of Pimento Cheese, and covered in what seemed like a Chipotle sauce and as well as corn. They were fried to perfection, and the tomatoes were crisp. One of my friends got the deviled eggs which were also really good! I ordered their version of an espresso martini which I also wasn't a fan of, 10 / 10 don't recommend if you prefer them with real espresso so I switched to beer. It was a Thursday and they have a ton of TVs along with the Sunday ticket to watch Football so we were able to sit outside and watch the game which was nice. For my meal I got an order of 5 Chicken tenders and a basket of wedges to share. The chicken tenders were hand breaded, juicy and delicious!! I also got a few of the dipping sauce to try as well which were buffalo ranch, honey mustard, ranch and Jalapeño ranch and they were all really good and could tell they were homemade. The wedges were seasoned and were served with Chili Crunch Aioli which was fire! I also got to try the Mac and Cheese which was also really tasty! I can't wait to go back to try the other items on the menu!

Their current address is: 928 Old Elizabethtown Rd #1, Hodgenville, KY 42748 1 - Local health dept has an ORANGE placard in window with a 92 rating. 2 - Online menu is nowhere close to the one we received in the restaurant - ONLINE menu is OUTDATED and does not reflect current much HIGHER prices. 3 - Only 1 other couple was dining when we got there at 5:30 pm on Saturday. 4 - My unsweet tea was $4.00. My food only combo was an additional $16.00. 5 - My chicken wings were NOT FRESH - they were dried out and covered with buffalo sauce. And my loaded fries were NOT CRISP but instead rather soggy. 6 - While the server and cook were friendly enough they were doing other things also and that diminshed their attentiveness. 7 - This place is more like a sports bar as opposed to a country sit-down restaurant. 8 - No towels in the uni-sex rest room. 9 - My tab was over $20.00 just for me - for bar food. We had high hopes based on Eagle Louisville's stellar Yelp score. But we walked away disappointed…read morebecause of a major service lapse, curious food seasonings and discrepancies between menu descriptions and actual dishes. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Friday. We had a choice between sitting inside or being seated at a picnic table on the covered deck. We were assigned a high-top table in the dining area past the bar, where a few guys were watching a soccer match. The brine-soaked fried chicken is Eagle's specialty, so we ordered it. I thought the chicken was good,. So per the menu for the three-piece fried chicken meal, you can only order either all white meat or all dark meat. Interestingly, the two people at our table that ordered white meat still got a drumstick with their meat. The last I checked, drumsticks were considered dark meat. For an appetizer, we ordered the hush puppies. They had a nice crunchy texture but were very spicy hot. We also ordered the spoonbread. This was my favorite dish of the day. It was served warm, had a great texture and a light maple flavor. With our meals, we could get two sides. We requested the collard greens, green beans, fries, grits and mac & cheese. Only the mac & cheese was good. The collard greens were way salty and the green beans had odd and unexpected seasonings. Our dining companion was put out, and understandably so, that the menu said the grits came with white cheddar cheese. But instead, though the grits maybe had cheese, they were also loaded with loads of diced jalapeno. They were so over the top spicy, none of us could eat the grits. The fries were strongly seasoned with oregano. WTF? Our entrees came with biscuits. The biscuits were tasty, but unfortunately, because they contained too much shortening, fell apart when buttering them. And that leads up to the service lapse. After we received our check, our server completely disappeared. We waited a half hour for her to re-appear, gave up and asked another server to cash us out. He disappeared and we waited some more. Finally the red-headed server re-appeared and breezily explained she had been out on the deck the whole time. No apology or anything.

Sunday, 18 January 2026…read more Met friends at J.R. Neighbors for lunch. According to my friend, the have the best burgers in Etown! ‍ There are a few parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant (maybe 5, with 2-3 slots being reserved for handicap). There are nearby parking lots with plenty more parking. As it was a Sunday, we had no trouble finding parking. There were a few people ahead of us, maybe three different parties. My partner and I did not have to wait to be seated since the friends we were meeting had already arrived and got a table. We greeted our friends then reviewed the menu. Since it was around 12ish on a Sunday, only the brunch menu was available. Not long after, our waitress arrived to take drink orders. Shortly after that, and after the drinks arrived - pineapple mimosas, apple juice, and water, we ordered our food...mostly everyone had a burger. I had the Texan burger/sandwich which came on a Texas toast, hence the name, and my partner had the Newberry Smash burger (double). Each came with a choice of "regular" fries or tots. I wanted sweet potato fries, but again, since it was Sunday, only the brunch menu and what was displayed was available. So, I settled for regular fries. My burger was good albeit a bit messy with the sunny side egg running everywhere! The bacon topping the burger was perfectly done with the right crispy/crunchy consistency. My mimosas was refreshing except I did not get much of a pineapple taste. The fries were fresh and appropriately seasoned, not too salty and not too bland, just right. We were all full from our meals so we did not even consider dessert! The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, so the atmosphere was quite. We sat by the windows and were not even distracted by the outside vehicles passing by. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend J.R. Neighbors to anyone looking for good burgers in a good atmosphere in Etown.
