It was close to our hotel and had solid reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to the hype. The Atmosphere: I'll start with the positives--the place has great vibes. There are sports TVs on multiple walls showing different games, making it a fun environment to hang out in. They also have a nice selection of tasty local beers. The Service: When we arrived, we were immediately told the kitchen was backed up and that we should probably find somewhere else to go. Because we were unfamiliar with the area and worried about long waits elsewhere, we decided to risk it and stay. Surprisingly, the food only took about 30 minutes, which wasn't bad given the warning. However, it took quite a while just to get our drinks. Later on, it also took a frustratingly long time just to get a side of mayo. The Food: This is where things really went downhill. When the food finally arrived, the fries were completely cold. The burgers looked okay at first glance, but both of our orders were completely wrong. To make matters worse, the burgers were cold too. Because we were exhausted and starving, we just ate what we were given without complaining, but it was incredibly disappointing. Verdict: While the atmosphere and local beer selection are great, the execution in the kitchen and the service just weren't there. We won't be returning.

His medium-rare was tender and juicy with a beautiful sear, and my medium-well was still succulent--proof of precise cooking. They have an outstanding variety of cool, reasonably priced side dishes. My husband was excited about the Queen's honey carrots which were tender and flavorful (though the honey glaze was very subtle) and the creamy mashed potatoes that are part of the steak dish, were nicely executed. I didn't realize my filet came with mashed potatoes underneath, so I ordered a loaded, baked potato as my side, and ended up with extra potato (which I'm not complaining about whatsoever lol). We also enjoyed the whiskey cream sauce with mushrooms, which added a gentle smoky creamy richness, and the onion soubise, which was pure sweet comfort. Dessert was a highlight, as we celebrated my husband's birthday - we ordered all three featured desserts: The crème brûlée had a perfectly crackled top and smooth vanilla bean custard, the flourless chocolate dessert was deeply rich with espresso notes, and the butter cake was the total star - warm, moist, and decadently buttery. Each dessert was excellent in its own way, but that perfectly sinful butter cake stole the show! The atmosphere was inviting--warm wood tones, comfortable booths, well-balanced lighting, and enough TVs near the bar to keep my sports fan husband happy. With a very quiet dining room, very early in the evening (we had a 4 PM reservation), there were moments when water refills lagged and opportunities for wine suggestions went unoffered (and we were definitely wanting to order some red with our steaks, but gave up because by the time there was an opportunity, we were finished with our steaks). We also briefly looked into the small private dining room on our way through the bar, and while we were greeted politely by one of the employees who was sitting in there, it felt like they missed the perfect opportunity to highlight the space for potential events. That said, nothing detracted significantly from the experience--it was simply a matter of polish. A touch more proactive engagement could elevate an already strong offering into something exceptional. Overall, Sear Steakhouse delivered an enjoyable and memorable evening. The food, drinks, and desserts are clearly strengths, and with just a little added focus on service flow and guest engagement, this restaurant has all the makings of a true standout in Rapid City. My steak was mediocre, and my husband was genuinely confused why I had claimed it was one of the best steaks I'd had in a long time. Unfortunately, when it comes to restaurants, the bad tends to outweigh the good. We haven't been back, and I can't justify the price tag when there are other great steak options in town. I know places can have off days, and maybe that's what happened--but I'm not willing to return to find out.

You get 8 nice plump drums and the sauce is sticky and sweet but not too sweet and spicy but not too spicy. Cant really detect a distinct watermelon flavor. Still good.

We mostly stopped here for the old firehouse atmosphere because we thought our kids would enjoy it, and they did, and enjoyed getting plastic fire hats to wear while eating. Our food was fine. My son got the mac & cheese off the kids menu which he did not enjoy and said it was gross. It looked to be fine and he's just picky, but he's not actually a picky eater so something was a little off with it. We got the beer bread for our youngest son to nibble on, but he wouldn't touch it and none of the rest of us ate it after having a bite because it was stale and tasteless. My husband got a reuben, which they advertise as one of their specialties and said it pretty tasted like a generic reuben. There was nothing special or particularly delicious about it. I got the western burger, which was good and I enjoyed the marmalade topping on it. I don't love battered fries, which is what they serve, but they weren't bad. Just not my preference. We also got a side of baked beans for kids, but they were very sweet and the beans were still pretty firm so they did not love them. It seems like the reviews are mixed, but if we were in the area again, we would probably not return.
