Definitely not a fan of franchises, but I really like some Cheddars. We typically stop in after spending the day at Hershey Park and working up an appetite. For such a busy weekend spot, they always manage to seat fairly quickly. I've never been here and received bad service, so that's always been a win. On 05/04/2026 at the York, PA location off of Route 30, I placed a take-out order (check#45404) at the bar (1) full rack ribs and (1) BC Wrapper. The restaurant was fairly busy for a Monday at 1:15PM, so to my surprise my order came out pretty quickly. My order was bagged and tied together, so I cloud not check my order without ripping the entire plastic bag. There were two standard to-go containers inside the bag, NOT the standard long full-length container a full rack is served in when placing a to-go order. I order the full rack of ribs to-go all the time at Cheddars, and they are served in the long full-rack box. When I got home and to my surprise I was given two separate rib halves. Neither were the same size, (both were upper ends), not an entire complete rack of ribs. Looking at the ribs, each upper end was different in size, and each had a different appearance and texture. I tasted each half-rack, and yes hey came from different racks as each had a different taste, dried-out texture, and not even luke-warm to the touch. These ribs were not freshly made that day. I'm positive these rib halves were old ribs, at least a day or more old, and somewhat reheated, barely. I live 2-miles from Cheddar's, I's a straight shot, 5-minute drive at best. The food should not be cold driving that distance. I used to go to Cheddar's all the time, but quit going there about six-plus months ago because the food quality was going downhill, but decided to give it another try, I WAS WRONG... The BC Wrappers were editable, barely warm, but just thrown together, not neatly wrapped and fell apart trying to get one out of the box. In-total I wasted $37.00 on this meal at Cheddar's in York, PA. The ribs were thrown away, and the BC Wrapper was half-eaten. Me and my friends stopped here Saturday aft snowtubing. They told us its about a 20 min wait, but she only waited 7 mins. Natalie was our waitress and she was a absolute joy. Stopped in for an early dinner with my daughter after a doctors appointment. The honey butter croissants given to you when you sit down are very good. My daughter got the chicken tenders and fries. She loved her fries but the chicken tenders were just ok. I got a cup of the baked potato soup and new orleans pasta with extra shrimp. The soup was very tasteless, the pasta was good but could have used more seasoning and the extra $4 dollars for the 2 or 3 little extra shrimp wasn't worth it. What went well, what goes well, everything! We first visited this Cheddar's location about a year ago. The food is always consistently delicious. The salads are fresh. The dressings are made in-house and have a great flavor. The service, even at the busiest hours of the day, is second to none. The servers have always been pleasant, professional, and have an in-depth knowledge of the product they are serving. It can be a bit noisy at times. This is after all a family restaurant. We walked right in with 13 people on a Sunday and were pretty much seated immediately. Our server was amazing. Honestly, that was better service than I received in most fine dining places. This restaurant was fire and an amazing experience. They had this fish tank thingy that was real pretty as well as these fans that were spinning sideways. They brought out these little butter covered pastries to start and they were fire. I got this thing called the spasagna and it was so good! It was like $12 which was great and it was a combination of my two favorite dishes. Lasagna and spaghetti. The waiters kept waters full and brought out food quickly so that was great. We tried going here on a Friday night, hour wait so skipped it. We tried a few weeks later on a Saturday night and it was a 20 minute wait (turned out to be less than 10). That's a plus. They brought out croissants which they switched out for ones without the honey butter, no problem. Another plus. We ordered the chicken pot pie, tenders and fries, pork chops, and homemade onion rings. Entrees came out within 15 minutes of appetizer, perfect timing. Probably 2nd best pot pie we've ever had. Pork chops were well portioned, no complaints, same with tenders. Onion rings make outback seem like a joke. And best of all our bill was $50. Are you serious? We were in York for a weekend event and came on a Saturday night and it was packed. We had a very large group so it took 45 min to get our tables even with a reservation (a lot of large groups were there for the weekend event). I got the Texas Sweet Tea and the Key West Chicken & Shrimp with a side of broccoli cheese casserole and fries. The Texas sweet tea was great, and not overall sweet which I liked. Sooooo upon entering the restaurant we are taken to a table to be seated. The server comes over and starts scolding the host right in front of us and we go back to the lobby to sit down. Not even two minutes later we are sat at a table two tables over with the same exact waitress. Oh and shortly after another customer is sat at the same table where we were scolded away from. The server frankly just wasn't interested and didn't come by much. Cheddars 11-8-24 Stopped by Cheddars on Friday night about 6:15pm. This is my first time at this place and it's neat, clean, and very well laid out. This place was hopping with people as they were busy. We got a table fast after putting our name on a list. Our waiter Jonathan came over quickly to take drink orders and give us menus. He came back a short time later and gave us our drinks and took our food order. I ordered the Texas T Bone with a side of Mashed Potatoes and a House Salad. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon, Baked Potato and House Salad. Our friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo and a Baked Potato Soup. Jonathan brought out some warm Honey Butter warm Crescent Rolls to hold us over till our main food order comes. These warm Crescent rolls were very good. Our salads were delivered shortly after we were done with the rolls. Our salads were served on chilled plates, and they tasted fresh and were good. Our main orders came out about the time we were done with our salads. My Steak looked amazing, and it was done just perfectly but my mashed Potatoes were ice cold. I told Jonathan right away and he stated he would be back with another one. He did come back fast, and the Potatoes were hot this time. (for the life of me I don't know how you mess up a side like that) My wife's Salamon was hot and very good but her baked potato was cold in the center. Maybe next time just add the cold sour cream on the side not inside the Potato We could not find Jonathan so we asked another waiter if he could help us. Jonathan did show up and took her baked potato back and stated a manager would know about it. (no manager ever showed up to talk to us) Our friends Grilled Chicken Alfredo was hot and good. The soup was hot and good, but you think they could give you more than 1 small pack of soup crackers to go with it. This was my first time there and I was not impressed. There are a lot of other places that do not serve cold food and would have made sure a manager would have stopped by to talk to us. BTW nothing was taken off the bill either. I can only give this place 3 out of 5 stars because of two cold served foods and one pack of small crackers for soup, no manager showing up and not finding our waiter. Everything was amazing. Host's, waitress, cooks. Hands down we couldn't figure out what we appreciated more, the amazing food or the friendly hospitality from the staff. I unfortunately don't recall the waitress's name who served us, but she was impeccable. We told her about how where we are from, no one would give us the time of day to have a pleasant conversation about the food and the area and over just in general. We have definitely discussed coming back for an overnight trip just to have a getaway to hang out, grab a bite to eat and not be so far from home. My jaw dropped when I noticed the center fan as you walked in, the entire place just gives off nothing but good vibes. The outside was insanely clean and tidy, just as much as the inside!! Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is a restaurant that serves delicious food with a pleasant atmosphere. Their menu offers a variety of options like smokehouse burgers; chicken tenders, broccoli and cheese casserole and their famous croissants drizzled with honey butter. The croissants themselves are over the top and very orgasmic. I could have just eaten these as my whole meal plus dessert. The staff provided prompt service and ensured a comfortable dining experience for us. The restaurant is spacious and clean, the food is awesome. and the service is fabulous. For a sirloin, it was fatty and I personally don't like fatty steaks. The chicken tenders were Immaculate crunchy and crispy.
