We've been going to Quaker Steak & Lube for many years now. Years ago, when they initially opened, there were more locations than there are now. We do stop by this location in York usually a couple times yearly. We have always loved their Boom Boom Shrimp and they have a wide variety of wing sauces to choose from. My food was very good, loved their potato skins and the wings with the Thai sauce. Our service was very good, waitress was very attentive and friendly. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, nothing fancy. It doesn't have quite the "feel" that it did years ago, but for a quick bite to eat, it's still pretty good!!!! read more

1/3/26 We were over near this location and decided to stop in after shopping for dinner. We walked in and greeted but asked how many in our group which was just the 2 of us. We were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and welcoming, took our drink and appetizer order. She brought out our drinks and after a short time our Boom Boom Shrimp arrived, which is outstanding and very flavorful !! Our favorite here ....... The rating of 3-stars come from the food preparation on my meal which was the Cheesesteak Phil-M-Up and fries. The sub roll was the only bright spot in my meal. The sub itself tasted like an unkept, dirty, greasy grill. Not impressed. Most of the fries were soggy like they had been sitting or not drained properly. You could just taste the dirty oil !! My wife's dinner consisted of the Bone-In Combo with potato skins and she had no complaints except the side of carrots and celery which the carrots seemed old as they had sections of white coloring, questionable indeed ! The inside is always decorated very uniquely with all kind of vehicles, motorcycle signs and TVs, which is nice if you wanna watch a game or two and the place seemed fairly clean . So, in all honesty, we cannot recommend stopping in here, based upon the way the cheesesteak and fries were prepared . I would suggest that management take a good long look inside the kitchen area and they really need to change the oil and their deep fryers on a more consistent basis and if anything is prepared on the grill to make sure that they scrape the grill clean and prepare anything that requires the flat top to be cooked on that it is clean to eliminate the taste of oil and the taste of a dirty grill in their food preparation . Quaker was near our hotel so we decided to try them for dinner on a weekend. The casual restaurant is themed with tons of cars. Maybe we got the wrong items, but I thought the food was average at best: we got the Loaded Magna Fries, Pick-Up Pickles, Pub-Syle Fish & Chips and Hot Chassis Chili Cup. The fish was not good though, it just tasted like frozen breaded fish from the grocery store. The waffle fries were very well seasoned. I could give the Louisiana Lickers 100 stars, I would. We absolutely love them! I used to work at the OG Quaker Steak and Lube do I love stopping and talking about my younger days! The wings were actually larger than they have been which is nice. For a while it seemed the wings were pretty small but these were perfect! We came in late and the place was pretty empty. To me, you don't go here for epic eats, you go here because you've always gone here and supported local businesses! The Pittsburgh ambience is real! The wait staff was just okay. I was excited to see another Quaker Steak & Lube. I liked the one I'd been to in IN and when I passed this one in York, PA I immediately suggested we go here. Today I tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Boom Boom Shrimp is all I need to say! Best thing on the menu. One of my favorite appetizers from any restaurant. This last trip I tried the Boom Boom sauce as a dip for my tenders, wings and fries and it can get to be a little too much the more you eat. Quaker Steak is a local spot that seems to go in cycles. Now, post-Covid, and post Covid recovery they're in an upswing where the food is really, really good. Their menu is varied enough that there's something for everyone. I'm a traditionalist who likes Buffalo Wings with Buffalo Sauce. Right now, they're doing it right. It's a little annoying that they charge for extra ranch, blue cheese, or veggies, but it's worth it. I am a huge fan of their housemade chips with beer cheese. read more

the customer service here is AMAZING!!!! There was a small mix up in some pint glasses and the general manager, Michael helped and was so kind and went above and beyond to fix the issue. The food is always amazing we are from VA and every time we are close we have to stop by! We typically have good experiences here, Not night... 15 minutes+ till anyone acknowledged us and got our drink order. Food came out quick then we got our bill and our waitress disappeared. Our bill was timed at 7:57pm it's been over 10 minutes. Our waitress is no where to be found and just about every staff member has made eye contact with us and done nothing. Some staff is sitting in a booth doing nothing, while others are in the drive thru space on their phones. Definitely a rough experience tonight. read more

This is the first time we've been to this location but not our first visit to this chain. Most locations have closed - an unfortunate casualty of COVID. If you enjoy sports, a laid back atmosphere, and good food - stop by and enjoy! Their wing sauces are delicious and they have several options that you won't find at other places. I already love Quaker Steak & Lube, but a little kindness tonight at this location makes me love it more. My boyfriend and I stopped here while we were in town for a wedding. We got the fried pickles as an appetizer (they were obviously frozen and fried, but they were still okay) and we both got wings. Their Louisiana Lickers and Arizona Ranch sauces are my faves. When we got our check, our waiter, Brian, told us that he'd applied a first responder discount, since he saw my boyfriend wearing a shirt with his ambulance station's logo on it. So Quaker Steak and Lube popped up in York a few years ago, and I've been there many times since they arrived. I can honestly say that I don't have anything negative to say about the place. I wouldn't say I have anything super positive about it, either. One thing I can say is the service is always good; typically I sit at the bar and the bartenders, however busy, make sure that their guests are taken care of. I might sit a few minutes waiting for a drink, but this is when they are clearly slammed. They're always extremely friendly and accommodating. On this visit, Trish was behind bar and she was wonderful. The food is average. Nothing spectacular, not terrible. It's about what you would expect from a chain restaurant. I've tried the Mac and Cheese Skillets, Wings, appetizers galore and several entrees. All have been...decent. During this visit I had the Quaker St8k Sandwich with a Caesar Salad to start. It was alright. Nothing to write home about. I will say that my salad (pictured) looked pretty sad. Genuinely, emotionally distraught. I wanted to give it a hug or buy it a cute teddy bear to cheer it up. It tasted fine, but you eat with your eyes first, ya know? Overall, if you're looking for a good time and food that is reliably okay, this is the perfect place for you. Well, I'll be damned. In 1992-1996 I was an undergraduate at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and my older upperclassman RA was from Sharon, PA. Always raved about the hot wings at this place there called QS&L. So we road tripped and they were fantastic. Ended up making the 100 mile round-trip once every few months for hot wings and beer. Came to my hometown for the holidays this last trip and lo and behold, they are now a chain and there's one just down the street from my mother's place. Took my mother, sister, niece and best friend and treated them to lunch. Shockingly, perhaps, it was as good as I remembered. Love the car motif, love the motorcycles hanging as decorations. Family reunion...let's go to QSL. They don't take reservations and the place is usually packed. But a very considerate manager hears my story about family flying in from all over the East Coast & South and finds a way to save us some space. THANK YOU! Oh, how I've missed this place! The car-themed restaurant and bar chain is a cool place to visit just to see whose chassis is hanging on the wall. But, let's get to the food... Wings, wings, wings and things. Fantastic sauces for every imaginable palate -- from naked or mild to "sign the waiver" hot. But let me slow down and back up to the beginning of my munch-a-thon. Drinks: a limited selection of draft beer and bottled brews, wine, and some mixed drinks along with soft drinks for the kids (yes, the little ones are welcome too; there's a menu just for them. Appetizers...our fave the 1" cut crispy fried O-Ring Antenna. Fried pickles, pretzels - all ok. But don't overdo it on apps, there's a lot more laps to go in this race. Sandwiches, burgers (1/2 pound), steak, and some fall-off the bone tender and flavorful Baby-back Ribs (my nephew had those...he's not a wing guy)...all good and juicy treats. And one cousin had just a salad...she said it was delish. But the wings for me are the things to drool (over) & devour. Love the fact that they often have a wing bar set up so you can drive by (walk) and pick some of each of many flavors. My favorites: Dusted Chipotle, Thaisian ****, Dusted Mango Habanero, and Buckeye BBQ. My mouth is watering as I write this....oh, how I wish I lived closer.
